    Buffalo Balls

Loved this lively establishment in West Yellowstone. The service was quick and fabulous. The atmosphere is all things bison. The beer was cold and the food hot. Thoroughly enjoyed sharing the buffalo balls appetizer. It was a large dish with two large meatballs on top of mashed potatoes. They have some games including electronic darts. There is also outdoor dining. It was fun atmosphere with good eats. A nice place to unwind after a long day in YNP.

There is barely any restaurant in this small town that offers Bison meat entrees. As it is known to be different in the area compared to major cities selection of meat. The Buffalo Bar happens to be highly ranked as it will constantly be crowded during peak tourist season. Upon entering will be walked into a group of customers waiting for their table and name to be called. There are a good amount of table inside and have lots of tv for a good entertainment and enjoyment. Average wait time is typically 30 minutes plus during peak dining time. The servers are nice, provided the food and other necessities quickly. Attentive with water refills. The foods were presented well and they gave a good amount of food for the price. Worth eating here once.

This place was suggested by my brother, when he heard we were eating in west Yellowstone. Ordered the buffalo burger and wings, both were great. The wings had a very flavorful Huckleberry bbq sauce. Was great. My wife ordered the quesadillas, very filling, but good.

This place is a must! Our food was so good and very filling. I wasn't able to eat it all. My husband had the huckleberry margarita and I had the huckleberry lemonade. Both drinks were spectacular! We sat at a long bar table facing the actual bar. It was super cool! Our servers were also very nice!

Great spot that even locals seem to love! Bit pricey, but the food and drinks were made so well you don't feel ripped off. Service was great too! Love the rustic decor!

My entire party enjoyed their food. However, it took quite a while to receive our appetizers and entrees. All of the employees were clearly foreign, not from the area. Good food, not so good service.

When we pulled into town, this place was popping. We thought it must be good. So we dropped our luggage and came back. The place was still busy so we sat at the bar where we were greeted by Tanner. He was attentive and helpful. I had the huckleberry lemonade, my husband a local beer, and our daughter vodka soda. Everything here is huckleberry and I embrace it wholeheartedly, especially the vodka. We shared the nachos, which seemed a little pricey especially considering the cheese isn't real; more like nachos cheese. However, they are a good size. The ambiance is what you'd expect, wild animals amidst tv's. Being so close to the "closed season" choices are limited. I hear there are bands when the patio is open. It would be a great place if there was live music year round.

Walked in fire lunch the sign said find a seat. We sat at a high top which a group just left from and the waitress was quick to clean it off. It was a Saturday and they had several TV's playing college football. My husband was so happy. Warm and inviting atmosphere including animal heads hanging along the walls. Of course a Buffalo front and center. Waitress was very nice and service was great. We both ordered the barbecue chicken salad. One of the best meals we had in Yellowstone area. We had trouble finishing the chicken it was a full size breast sliced on top and juicy. Served with Texas toast and ranch dressing. It also had a nice outdoor patio with bar and live music at night. If you in west Yellowstone make sure to stop in you won't be disappointed.

There's not a lot of food options near Yellowstone, so this tends to be one of the more popular spots. It definitely has a very specific Americana vibe, complete with a casino section and taxidermied animal everywhere - not really my vibe after a beautiful day of exploring Yellowstone, but I guess it comes with the territory. The food is mostly standard American fare, specializing in bison/buffalo. We got the bison meatloaf and the mountain fries, which were decent but nothing stood out other than the huge portions. The huckleberry lemonade was mediocre and has a strange aftertaste. Overall, good to get filled up here but I would temper expectations. The service was friendly and attentive though.

One of the best meals we had in West Yellowstone! And the huckleberry cocktails - yum! The hostess was bubbly and friendly as soon as we walked in. This fun attitude fit perfectly into the bar ambiance full of taxidermy animals and large screen tvs playing that nights football game - very lively. The server, unfortunately, was far less enthusiastic and off. (Maybe she was having a rough day). We started off with a huckleberry margarita and a huckleberry lemonade - both delicious! For meals, we ordered the buffalo balls and buffalo tacos. Although the buffalo balls are on the appetizers list, it is huge and very well served as a meal since it comes with mashed potatoes. Both meals were good! The meatballs were one of my favorite meals in West Yellowstone. Yum!

    Taco Salad and Buffalo Meatloaf

Nice place, although their seating design could use some work. We got the buffalo meatloaf and taco salad with buffalo crumble. The meatloaf was okay but nothing more. The salad was delicious BUT they either forgot to add the buffalo or there was one singular piece that I ate without noticing because I spent the entire dinner looking for it. I couldn't find the huckleberry lemonade on the menu but when I asked she said they do have it and it was delicious. The service was pretty meh and no one really checked in on us because if they did we would've asked for more water. They also tack a lot of fees onto the bill.

    Thai Shrimp

They were busy and menu looked like average bar food until I saw plates coming out. The Buffalo Balls were 2 huge meatballs on mashed potatoes with gravy and looked amazing! We got the sweet chili shrimp. I was impressed. Queso that came with the pretzel not great tho.

After an incredibly long day in the park, my husband and I stopped here around 430pm for an early dinner - we really had our pick of the place and were quickly waited on. First, the portions here are absolutely massive. We split the queso with buffalo chili, which was delicious. I had one of their burritos and it was truly massive...but it really was quite tasty. I wish I could have eaten more of it - but could only eat half since it was so large. My husband opted for one of their burgers - trading the patty for a buffalo patty; he finished every bite of it. Overall, it was an eclectic menu - but good good for a sports bar.

Can they accommodate for a gluten allergy?

Yes they can and have items on the menu that are gluten free friendly

Do you have to be over 21 or is it family friendly?

You don't have to be over 21 but I don't see this place as a kid friendly restaurant. I wouldn't recommend ordering from the kids menu. It's not kid friendly.

Does the staff wear masks to avoid spreading COVID?

    Yes they do.

I arrived around 7 PM and grabbed a seat at the bar since I was dining solo. The restaurant was busy, but the atmosphere was welcoming and comfortable. For dinner, I ordered the Chicken Prosciutto Pasta with a side of bread. The pasta was outstanding -- easily one of the best pasta dishes I've had in a long time. The combination of braised chicken, prosciutto, mushrooms, tomatoes, roasted red peppers, and creamy parmesan-mascarpone sauce came together perfectly. Every bite was flavorful, rich, and satisfying without feeling heavy or dry. As someone preparing for a half marathon the next morning, it was the perfect carb-loading meal. I also ordered the Huckleberry Sundae for dessert. If you're visiting the Yellowstone area, do yourself a favor and try something with huckleberries. The ice cream, topping, and whipped cream were fantastic, and it ended up being one of my favorite desserts from the trip. One unexpected bonus was getting to chat with other travelers at the bar, including another runner who was also working toward completing a half marathon in all 50 states. It added to the friendly, welcoming feel of the place. Overall, Madison Crossing Lounge delivered excellent food, a great atmosphere, and a memorable dining experience. I don't hand out many five-star reviews, but this one earned it. If I'm back in West Yellowstone for another race or a visit to Yellowstone National Park, I'll absolutely be returning. After a particularly warm day of hiking, my husband and I resolved to try OTC -- especially since signs read that it was established in 2023. Keeping restaurants open is very hard work. The door directly opens to the bar, which has high tables where families can be seated. (Here, we chose seats so we could watch the World Cup match.) There's another room with more conventional, lower tables. I asked for sliced jalapenos to be added the buffalo burger with cheddar, lettuce, sliced tomato, diced raw red onion on a toasted bun. Diners can specify to what extent the buffalo is cooked: medium or med rare are recommended. Piecing together that this is a tourist trap town on the outskirts of YNP, I lowered my expectations to like 5/10. Believe me, this is worse than mid. We were famished driving out of Yellowstone after a long day of sightseeing, as most of this place's victims probably are. I grimly perused the menu, and ordered a burger and fries because surelllyyyyyy... they can make a 5/10 burger?! My standards were so low! The bread on the burgers was soggy and gross, the burger wasn't seared at all, and the fries were burnt. Our friend ordered steak: the steak was bright pink through and through and also not even seared... how do you mess up this badly? Do they have a grill back there?? I've cooked steak way better myself on a skillet for way cheaper. A bowl of onion rings with no dipping sauce. Salads with tomatoes sliced round- not diced. I had never seen that before in my life. Other friend got a pizza. She said it was okay, but looking at it I had my doubts. I'll admit I didn't try it because it looked like day old frozen pizza. Mind you if the total bill had been $75, then whatever we were hungry, it's a tourist trap-- No. The total for the food was $148. For 4 people. No drinks at all, just water. I'm so appalled and embarrassed because there were lots of international visitors here for Yellowstone. Probably more than usual if some stopped here during a US visit for the World Cup. They probably come here and believe this abomination is representative of American food. Shameful. I normally wouldn't bring up something like ambiance, but since this place has the audacity to charge nice restaurant prices for food so disgusting I wouldn't even feed it to a dog, the music sucks too. It was the most cliche 70s American bar playlist ever. I personally enjoy that kind of music, but here it feels like rubbing salt in a wound. Positives: Server was nice, poor guy. The French onion soup was actually nice and up to par, but French onion soup is not enough to redeem a place, especially when this place is your first stop in civilization and you're ready to chow down. Next night we skipped West Yellowstone and opted for the gas station by our Airbnb. The hours-old chicken sandwich behind glass was Michelin star compared to this.
