Before we get into the review, I wanted to mention that this is only the second time I've been to an Ethiopian restaurant ever. The food from the first place I went to many years ago was too spicy (I had no spice tolerance at the time), and the injera was sour enough that eventually my stomach hurt (possibly because I had too much since it was likely the only thing I could eat). When my spouse and I sat down to order lunch, we originally wanted to get a Sambusa, but they were all out, so we got the Kelwa Dinish and the Green Salad. The salad had a light dressing that was kind of like oil & pepper but more interesting. The cubed beef had a great flavor and texture. I also liked that there was a little bit of gristle on some of the pieces. I think there might be a little bit of spice from the oil, but I was able to eat it (since I can handle a tiny bit of spice now). Overall, I was glad we got the salad because it helped to balance out the other dish. The two of us couldn't finish the food, so we took the leftovers home in reusable silicone containers. If I ever get Ethiopian or Eritrean food again, I'd be happy to come back here for a casual dining experience with food that isn't too spicy for me. ECO NOTES (Dine-In) Dine-In Dishware: Reusable plates and bowls Napkins: Single-use disposable paper napkin Utensils: Metal serving fork and spoon for salad. The rest involves the most reusable utensil of all - your hands. Water cups: Short cups made of glass

I regret having to do a negative review. It's definitely disappointing being a customer of 25 years or more. Over the years the customer service has been outstanding. It took just this one event to STOP patronizing this place. In short, a friend and I were in the middle of our meal when a picture fell off the wall and on top of both of our half eaten plates. We had to go find the waitress and tell her. Upon coming to our table she gets a real concerned look and asks "what you do??" We told her nothing we were eating and it fell. She picked it up like we had did it on purpose and started to walk off as if we should continue eating. I called her back and asked her to replace half my friends food and that I was full and it was ok She takes our plates and comes back with the FULL bill and says sorry I can't replace it. Hands me the bill for almost $70. Needless to say I placed $40 on the table and walked out. That's the end of RED SEA for me. I've sat in that same seat over 100 times and have never been ttreated so bad I DO NOT RECOMMEND RED SEA customer service wise. Other than that the food is delicious.

One of the best in the West!!! Serving variety of Delicious "Habesha" dishes. "Izzy" (Owner) provides assistance quickly and efficiently, while also being polite, courteous and approachable, creating a positive and welcoming experience to all his customers. Festive and welcoming ambiance!

Seemed like a good idea because it had so many food options but it was fair. Prices were decent but it didn't have the real Ethiopian flavor that I'm used to. They didn't even put the beef awaze on top of the injera in the box?!? The injera also was lacking something but not sure what since I don't make it. Overall, it was decent but I don't think I would try it again. The chicken sambusca had a great crisp but also lacking on flavor. My friend had the fried green tomatoes with crabmeat but said it had an odd "too crabby" taste.

    Veggies platter!

This is my 1st review after 4 visits here. We tried the Red Sea Combo- a great trio of beef, lamb and chicken, along with veggies. We also had a Vegetarian Platter- looked fwd to it all day! Sadly, the lentil peas were not cooked thoroughly, once again (yes, it happened the 3rd visit) however, everything on both plates was delicious and I recommend them highly. The staff is friendly and prompt with service!

THIS IS A GREAT BAR. one of the best I ever been to. Their food is so good, I am still thinking about their prawn street tacos and the prawn flatbread. I wish I had some right now! I can taste it in my mouth, oh lord. They have one of the BEST BARTENDERS EVER, her name is Adela, I hope I am spelling that correctly. She was so beautiful, she had long beautiful dread locks. We talked and she was very welcoming her and Nicholas who birthday was a day before mines, he was so cool. They made sure we had everything we needed and our drinks was to our likings, she was very very informative about our drinks, what was in it, and she even had great detail to the things we wanted/looking for in our drinks. I still can not get off how good the food was. This place is a VIBE, period. Music was on POINT! and its very cute and I LOVE THE HUGE OPEN window, wish I got a pic of it. It wasn't loud, ghetto or dirty, just a nice place to vibe, have a very good drink and great food. I can not wait to come back and see you guys, EVERYONE PLEASE CHECK THEM OUT. 1000/10. I tried two different drinks and requested a re-do with less ginger but they both still had this spicy, ginger-y taste-- not for me, personally. and their soft drinks are very limited, only carrying Mexican coke that's $5 a bottle. after we were seated, it took about 15-20 mins before someone checked on us again. and that was kind of the theme throughout the night. but the servers were lovely! maybe someone didn't show for their shift. the food is verrrrry good though. maybe some spicier sauce options would be nice. i think the chutney is the spiciest they have. the white sauce is also very yummy too. would visit again just because the food is that good.

Can't quite describe it but it didn't feel like an SF bar, felt more open and like a community watering whole. On to the food and drinks. I'm vegetarian so was so excited to try the dogs - which are vegan. And I may be biased but you cannot tell that you're missing out on anything with all the flavor packed combos. The bun was fluffy and soft and you have multiple fun themed options to choose from. My partner and I ended up getting the deli dog and truffle meltdown. Deli was perfect - classic mix of spice and crunch with the spicy brown mustard and giardiniera peppers. And the truffle meltdown was so savory and decadent - totally different flavor profiles from each dog! We were only going to grab one drink but the menu was so inventive we ended up getting two. I ordered the banana hammock (which comes with a fire show) and espresso martini slushee which was is up there with the frozen Irish coffees I've had in New Orleans. It is a unique layout to a bar, and probably better concept for earlier hours, when it isn't as crowded during the night. It can fill up really quickly, since the area to order a drink, dance, and mingle is narrow, since the bar is literally in the middle of the room. Some of the staff can be extremely nice and kind, and there are some who you can tell are fed up, upset, and don't have the best attitude. I get it, though. It's a cool bar to check out or be the first stop of the night. The djs they have always turn up. Good luck getting a drink under 15 minutes though!

There are some negative reviews here about rude, more accurately, unresponsive bartenders, and I don't think they get what this place is all about. If you want a chatty, friendly bartender, go to an Irish pub. This place is all about creating unique concoctions in volume. Having said that, I'll tell you a story. In March 2019, I was with a chatty bartender here, since it was a quiet night. I was looking at the vast array of bottles, and noticed something that said "Buffalo Trace" but looked different from their usual bottle. I asked her what it was, and she didn't know. It had about three fingers left at the bottom, so she looked at me mischievously and said, "wanna finish it with me?" So we did. Turns out, that 375 ml bottle was worth about $300. It was one of their experimental batches, made with oats in 2002. I found a bottle online in England and got it shipped here. Best whiskey I've ever had.
