I relaxed by the fire and read to my hearts content. I love that you can bring your pet for a $35.00 charge. Well worth it to have my best buddy with me on my bday. FYI: You can buy wood for the fireplace at the Lazy Trout about four to five minutes drive from the cabin. Cannot wait to rebook a stay!!

They are the retired parents of the owner and began managing the lodge a month ago. The lobby itself was very charming and rustic looking just as we had hoped. It was festively decorated with the Christmas theme and the natural log looking banisters and the cozy blazing fireplace set the tone for the weekend with our first step into the lobby. Our bedroom was huge, and everything was sparkling clean. We had a king bed and the bed frame itself was also made of natural looking wood logs. It also had a huge picture window to watch the snow falling outside. We did not get a room with a fireplace but there are several available. The lodge has a couple outside decks for entertaining when the weather is nice, and it gives a great view of the valley below and the mountains in the distance. My wife and I spent a wonderful evening lounging in the lobby and playing cards in front of the fireplace. The next morning, we woke up to a complimentary breakfast prepared by Diana and Mike that included eggs, potatoes, waffles, sausage, coffee, OJ and more. I can honestly say, we won't book here again, NOR will we recommend to anyone who plans on visiting this great little village. We don't mind paying the 'holiday premium' when the place we pay for 'delivers'. Unfortunately, this place did not. It's as if one checks in here and the managers or owners ? , check out after fully billing you upon check in. We checked in and were told the wifi would need to be reset as it was 'slow' when a lot of people try to connect. How many people are truly in Greer? We get it; we are in the mountains and it wasn't truly a big deal. It never worked. NOT even a little. Again, not a big deal. Our room was upstairs: upon entering it leaves a LOT to be desired. The carpet needs a good cleaning , in fact, much of the room does. The water in the sink constantly shot air while using and had low pressure. The toilet does the same with the air thing and you must hold the handle down when flushing. That can be alarming in the middle of the night. The sheets on one bed were stained and I thought about calling down to request new ones , OH! But there is no phone in the room. That makes the , ' In Room Dining Menu' a little confusing too, now doesn't it? There was a nice wad of chewed up gum to welcome my husband on his side of the bed on the headboard. My daughters bed had a terribly stained blanket, but with a hot, stuffy room, there would be no need for that. There are no drapes on the windows and the blinds are in need of revamping, so guess what.. sleep will end about 0600am. That's also the time when a flock of parent-less children will apparently be allowed to run up and down the halls and stairs of the lodge screaming and hitting the walls. There is no air conditioner either. The room was super warm when we got into it , so we opened the two windows; one in the bedroom area and one in the bathroom. I get it, it's the mountains, it was downright miserable without ac. It was uncomfortable and stuffy even in the middle of the night when it cooled off outside, this room just never ventilated well. We were up and out of the room by 0945a the next morning to hike and explore the area in Greer. The 'free breakfast' was no where to be found. No coffee was found either. We only saw the mess of it all in the breakfast room. even a toasted bagel on the floor. The complimentary bottled waters were all gone; the fruit that was mentioned was too, and only the same empty plate in the bottled water refrigerator remained from the night before, AND the water dispenser was also empty. There was NO one to be found and the girl that checked us in the day prior had told us 'IF we needed anything, that they lived on property and just let them know'. You just could never find them! We came back that evening and our room had not been cleaned or made up. No clean towels & no trash emptied. My husband said he had seen maids on his way to find the 'mystery breakfast and coffee' , so he knows they were cleaning other guests rooms. We had no DO NOT DISTURB sign on door either. We would understand if this was a cabin as we have stayed in those before and they don't always have daily service.. well, as I was reading thru the small flyer in the room, you have to place the SERVICE sign on door NLT 1000am for your room to be cleaned. That would have been nice to have been mentioned at check in. I've never seen anything like that, and I travel a lot. The place in general has so much potential. It's actually a lovely looking log cabin looking lodge. The area surrounding the lodge is beautiful, but seriously, no one seems to care. The rooms here look more like a road side motel with a price tag of 'we can gouge you and we will' than the rustic lodge cabin you enter. People would leave messes out on the decks and on the common tables in the living areas downstairs and no one seemed to care about cleaning up after that. We also were amused that we came in about 2145pm on our last night after dinner and the girl who checked us in was finally 'on property' as we were coming up the stairs to our room to literally raise her eyebrows at us rather than say hello or welcome us or anything. NOT a word! We were not sure what that was about. Very 'boarding house, den mother' attitude of her though and I was personally not amused . This is a lodge.. treat it and your guests as such. Let's discuss the hotvtub that had that awful smell of mildew as soon as it was opened.. no thanks. Maybe this is why there were rooms here available and not at the cute, MUCH, cheaper, nicer cabins our friends had. Word to all.. ( we knew this already!), plan ahead for this area and avoid this place unless you don't think sleep is important! I need a shower after a stay here. Two stars for the view & rickety deck

There is a volleyball net and a volleyball is provided to use. The grounds are beautiful! Lots of grassy land, flowers, and it is right next to a creek that feeds into Little Colorado River! In the end they let us check in, but I had to cover the couch and keep him off the bed. That is easier said than done with a small dog that is used to sleeping in bed with us. Also I requested their welcome email 3 times prior to check in but never received it. None of the problems were a big deal but don't expect 5 star service.

She put me right by a seat where my views of the Little Colorado River was just effin gorgeous, and there were also three smaller ponds next to the LCR. There was also live music here tonight and Terry Williams was phenomenal. I could not find his work online. Since it was such a beautiful setting, I thought why not enjoy a nice cocktail here! I chose the Jalapeño Bizness and substituted the tequila for mezcal. It was quite delicious, with a slight kick and so refreshing! For dinner, I had the chicken hatche chile mac which came with a salad. Salad was fresh and tasty. The chile mac was just OK but my goodness the portion was enormous and I had to take the rest to go. Overall, a very lovely restaurant and highly recommend you stop in, even if just for a drink. The place was relaxing, classy, and definitely what high mountain living is all about. I will say that this cabin was filthy and I unfortunately felt gross being in it. It looked like it had not been cleaned properly in years. Everything around the stove was covered in thick grease including the wall. So much dust and stickiness on the bedroom walls. All the books and games were covered with stickiness and dust. The caulk around the bathtub was peeling off and orange mold so it felt gross taking a shower. There was a tub plug in there covered with slime and old hair. Toothpaste crust on the inside of cabinets. I understand cabins have a lived in feel but I have never stayed in a place this dirty. The outdoor area was filled with dog poop and there was even a bag of dog poop right up front greeting us when we came in. I genuinely don't even think the place has been actually deep cleaned in years. I so rarely say I wouldn't return to a hotel / cabin but in this case I would not. It really is a lovely cabin but really needs a serious once over to make it guest ready. That said Greer is beautiful and we spent most of our time outdoors here. That said I couldn't wait to check out of this cabin and go home to take a shower and get in some fresh bed sheets. Ugh. I hate to make a negative review but I get the vibe that the owners don't care. I did email the owner my feedback and received no acknowledgment. I just feel the need to warn others before booking because the pics looked awesome.

I was advised that was the case for all the rooms and if I had checked the website it says "pet friendly" ...so suggested I should have expected it. I was told maintenance and a manager would be coming by. Right after check-in the front desk was vacated and no longer staffed. No air conditioning in room and no screen on the room window... so couldn't open it without allowing for insects to enter. There was less than half a roll of toilet paper in the bathroom for three people, and no other rolls to switch out. Since no staff at desk I had to search for janitor closet to get a spare roll. Ceiling fan in room looks like a $39.99 Home Depot special and was noisy. We checked in about 3:40 pm. By the time we checked out the next day, no maintenance had come to open the safe, and no visit from the manager....I was told by a restaurant server that the manager also works the restaurant and was too busy to come by! Website says theres a firepit on site... NOPE... not operating if there is one. The lone waitress was the only staff I saw all day walking around after 5 PM. She had been there around 12:15 when we arrived and was the only visible restaurant staff member, or any staff on site for that matter that we saw. She left at 8:30 PM and nobody else appeared to be on site afterwards that was staff in case you had an issue or a problem. The front door to the Resort is always unlocked and accessible to anyone, so without staff around at night that is pretty unsafe. Still nobody at desk when we vacated the place by 8am. The big draw for the lodge is apparently the German Hungarian restaurant inside. We didn't eat any of the main dishes, but we had two pieces of pie with a coffee and cup of hot tea which came to $31. The town is beautiful but you may want to stay somewhere else...

They even give you a cake and decorate the cabin if it's someone's birthday or someone has an anniversary (they ask you nonchalantly in advance). The Heaven's Best is the largest cabin and is perfect to rent out for mid-size to large groups. I remember it sleeping 15 in years past, but now the website lists 11. Either way, it's roomy and off on it's own, half in the woods. It's quite family oriented, but also romantic enough for a weekend away. On the family-oriented side, there is a big tree house that kids can build on (nails, wood, and hammers provided). There's a game room as well. Great location, sort of off the beaten path--not around a lot of other cabin rentals. A great place to hike, and if you want--bring your bikes! There are not only great bike trails, but also you can ride the dirt road as it winds all the way to the main road. Reasonable rates-see the website!

Our cabin was a clean and rustic but well kept 2 bedroom 1 bath with a full kitchen, comfortable living room with fireplace, plus a large deck. We had plenty of hot water for showers, and it was of course very very quiet and peaceful. If we had been so inclined, we could have walked to where our friends were staying in Greer in perhaps 15-20 minutes, but we chose to take the short drive instead. We also did some cooking while there and found the kitchen to be well stocked with cookware and utensils. We enjoyed a private evening or two on the deck as well and found that it included a propane bbq grill, although we did not use it. We enjoyed it and felt the rate was reasonable. Will definitely consider East Fork Cabins again when visiting Greer!
