Wow this place was so incredibly amazing. I took so many pictures and idk if I even uploaded them all. There were many different cabins. I giant one with 9? Rooms, and a few more singular family cabins and then then a couple that could Hold a few families. So much beauty and amenities. We had a marvelous time. Everything was so wonderful. What a cute pretty little town, Greer is. I would love to go back for my own family vacation sometime. So glad to have learned about this place. And there was skiing and snowboarding about a half hour away. Great get away spot. I bet it would be amazing In the summer too! read more

We stayed at the serenity, 5 bedroom cabin this past month. A couple hours prior to our arrival, the Manger, Jill Nance, sent me a text stating a plumbing issue had happened and they needed to put us in a 2 bedroom cabin for the first night. We had 5 other friends coming up and would not fit all of us in the dingy, old 2 bedroom cabin. So, our friends stayed in a hotel. Asked if we could at least place our groceries inside the refrigerator at Serenity and Jill told us "no". That night, we met the people at a fire pit and they were staying in the serenity cabin we PAID for! There was not a plumbing issue, we were lied to by Jill Nance. The people left the next day and we moved in after Jill put us off until noon so she could clean it! The cabin is in fact big. But, for the price you pay, not worth it! Kitchen cabinets dirty, pots and pans were all old and rusty, the stove was filthy and only one burner worked and one more worked part time. The sofas were old, dirty and never have been vacuumed under the cushions and were ripped and the springs were broken. The patio. Chairs were broken, the BBQ was gross and dirty. Only half of the grill worked and flames came streaming out the back of the grill. It burned our chickens and would have burned the patio down had we not thrown water on the flames. For the fire pit, you have to get your own wood. I would NEVER stay there again with the current owners and manager, Jill Nance. Don't waste your money. There are other places in Pinetop which are much nicer. Also, Jill Nance assured us she was going to refund us for the night she lied to us about and it has been over a month and no refund. Do not stay here. read more

I will post a review on Red Setter's website as well. We stayed in River Haven for 4 nights. We had stayed in the same cabin last year. Keep in mind, none of my concerns impacted our stay negatively, HOWEVER, we are unlikely to stay there again because of declining interior issues. The cabin was clean. The outside of the cabin has been resealed and looks great. The grounds are stunning and bridges updated. Inside...different story. 1) The ceiling fan made a constant clicking sound. 2) There's only one reading light...would be nice to have one on each side of bed. 3) The bathroom sink is very unsteady. The slightest amount of movement when using makes it wiggle. 4) The bathtub leaks water and black particles (we did not use it) 5) The pillows are very lumpy and have an old, unpleasant odor 6) All the linens are in huge need of update, especially the towels. 7) The couch is probably original to when the inn was built in 1995. We remember when the inn was built, we've been going to Greer that long. We noticed a big difference between this year and last. The really telling thing is that when you talk with business owners in town and say how you adore the grounds, but interiors need updating, each one said "That's what I've heard". We'd love to share our love for Red Setter next summer with our kids and their families...but at this point, we'd be very hesitant. read more

Major Construction going on during our stay. Multiple attempts to reach out to the property owners and Cabin Butler (company that manages the rentals) was unsuccessful. I understand properties need improvement but this was more than necessary maintenance. We arrived on a Sunday, so everything seemed peaceful. The cabin was clean, well stocked and cozy (reason I gave 2 stars). Then it was Monday. The crew was laying new pathways, new sod etc.. the saws started BUZZING at 6am! Dust everywhere so we couldn't enjoy the deck while they were working. There was no picnic tables or benches to sit by the creek due to laying sod. (I have video for proof, just don't know how to transfer to this post, I will try later) We hope it was just a one day thing but NO, they were at it again the next morning. The crew was very nice and apologized but it wasn't their fault. If a property is in need of extensive renovations, either inform those of us staying or don't rent during that time. This was in May of 2021 and still no response from the company to address these issues. It's very frustrating when we are all in desperate need of a getaway to relax and escape from the past year only to leave tired and disappointed. read more

This was our dream location tucked into a fairytale corner of Greer this is the best property for an event getaway or family vacation! The staff were amazing through out the planning stages and were very helpful during the whole weekend we were there. It was everything we could've dreamed of and more! A group of us rented out the entire lodge for a very special celebration. Visually the lodge and the surroundings are beautiful. Unfortunately the inside needs some TLC! When we all woke for breakfast the first morning the complaints were abundant. A toilet didn't work in one guest bathroom sans the plunger next to it we're guessing. No soap in the downstairs guest bathrooms, some didn't have but one towel and all towels have seen better days as they are rough to the touch. Most of all, Red Setter Lodge is in DESPERATE need of new mattresses on the beds! Prepare yourself for little to no sleep along with aches and pains due to hardness and the sinking middle of these miserable mattresses. Everyone complained! The outdoor barbecue needs to be replaced as only half of it works correctly. Many of the chairs on the deck are ready to collapse as they are so wobbly. One of the dishwashers needs work as well as the pantry refrigerator. A place that size could easily use 3 refrigerators, two isn't enough for large groups. I have stayed at the lodge in the past...obviously in better days. It's disappointing to recommend something so highly for a special occasion only to find out that it hasn't been kept up to its former glory. I have never left a review for anything before, this is my first and it warranted it. The three stars are for the beauty of the place. I could have listed many other things that need work but you get the picture. Hopefully this beautiful place will get the care it needs and deserves. I look forward to the day I can give it 5 stars! read more

It never would have happened with out the professionals from Red Setter. Shaneen helped carry out every little detail that I had imagined and more! Our families were able to go up to Greer a day early and relax in the gorgeous and intimate setting of the cabins. Then once the party settled down we were all able to stay on property and head back to our rooms. Recently stayed/rented the River Haven cabin. This is our third stay over the years. Three stars this time due to the bad bed. Restless nights and sore back three days in a row. Refrigerator needs maintenance. Beautiful setting, very peaceful but not worth being tired and sore for three days. We thought we would feel rested after our stay and instead needed to drive 5 hours home to get some sleep and a chiro appointment! read more

After reading my review, the property manager called me to review the issues we had with the cabin. He was concerned and is going to revise the cleaning checklist and give additional training to the staff so guests in the future should not experience the issues we did. Based on my conversation with Ryan and his concern and commitment to rectify any problems, I am giving this cabin a higher rating in this updated review. read more

stayed at the " river serenity " cabin July 4th week 2022, and let me say I have never given a bad review about anything. first let me say the location is beautiful and the cabin has great potential but the interior needs lots of help ! the couches are horrible, they smell like wet dog and they look like they picked them up on the side of the road! they have no cushion to them at all and feels like you are sitting on a milk crate. the description says sleeps 12, so why would you have a dining room table that only seats 6 ????? the kitchen was missing lots of things so you might want to bring all your own stuff . the bath towels were so small they were almost hand towels and really old and worn. there was some kind of food under master bed, not sure what , maybe the vacuum doesn't fit under the bed . in the description it also says and I quote " mountain luxury at its finest " , thats a total lie ! whoever is in charge of managing this place you need to get out of the office or out of your house and go see for yourself these issues! you charge plenty of money per night maybe spend some towards the rentals ! read more

We stayed in the River Haven cabin for a long weekend to celebrate our first anniversary and do a little snowboarding at Sunrise. Almost everything about the cabin is magical. It feels very private (and not right on the road like some other cabins in Greer), the grounds are gorgeous, and we had picturesque views of the snow falling on the trees and the Little Colorado babbling along right outside our front door. The inside of the cabin is very clean and well appointed, but we had one major complaint and that was the bed. When we laid down with our heads by the headboard, the mattress sank so much that our feet were elevated by a good 3-4 inches. We ended up doing a 180 and trying to sleep with our heads at the footboard and using every available pillow in the cabin but even still, sleeping on an incline isn't exactly comfortable and we were waking up with sore backs. Otherwise, everything was lovely! read more

Just had a fabulous family reunion at the Red Setter Riverside Retreat in Greer Arizona. This place is breathtaking...truly heaven on earth! The Lodge/cabin itself is amazing but it's hard to stay inside with the allure of the lush grounds. The setting is so serene, peaceful and relaxing with gorgeous pines trees, lush greenery, grass and a private river. Fun to just sit by the river and read but also enjoyed the outdoor fire pits at night and playing horseshoes during the day. Lots of great hiking all around and you can fish in the river right at the lodge. The cabin was perfect for entertaining such a large group, the kitchen had all the supplies for cooking up great meals and there were plenty of large dining tables for all to sit and enjoy our meals. The bedrooms were so comfortable and inviting and each had its own private bathroom. It's hard to call this a cabin as everything was more like a luxury hotel. Can't wait to come back!! read more

Never stayed there, but my mom and her siblings had one of their reunions there. It had been at least 16 years ago, back when Ken Conant and his partner owned it. They let my mom and siblings use it during the off season for a week or so. It helped that they were related to one of the owners, Ken Conant is my cousin. My mom told me that the place was beautiful and peaceful. She sent my cousin some sheet music for the piano they had in main cabin, wonder if they're still there, if the new owners kept them or if my cousin and his partner took them. read more

This is a beautiful resort on the stream; by far the best in Greer! The cabins are spacious, attractive and modern with rustic appeal such as log exteriors and interiors, fire places, fire pits and swings on the river, etc. We have stayed here twice, once in 2008 and again in May, 2016 under the new ownership. It is such a relaxing time and there is quite a bit to do if you enjoy outdoor activities, such as horse back riding, mountain biking, hiking, fishing/boat rentals at nearby lakes, skiing (at Sunrise Resort), or just staying home, cooking and playing games by the fire. Cell phone coverage is intermittent at best, which can be a good or bad thing depending on your outlook. The cabins have wireless internet but that was also very spotty so don't count on being able to respond to that urgent work email! There is a cell booster at the Lazy Trout Market if you are desperate. I recently stayed in the River Serenity Cabin, rooms were clean and large and it sleeps 11 comfortably. Kitchen is well-stocked with pans, silverware, cups, glasses, kettle, teapot, coffee maker, etc. There is a blender, electric beater, knives (not very sharp so consider taking your own) but you will need to bring your own grater, colander and any specialty cookware items if you plan on doing a lot of cooking. The downside: the cabin needs a few repairs/upgrades -- the mattress in the master was very uncomfortable and like sleeping on a marshmallow. If you have back problems, be prepared to get there before your friends and test out all of the beds! Some of the kitchen appliances need repairs (fridge/freezer cools and oven heats erratically), a couple of heaters not working, loose plank a trip hazard on back deck as well as a few other nits. If it weren't for these, I would give the cabin 5 stars. That being said, we will definitely go back. read more

The location is beautiful and one of a kind!! I had my wedding there this summer and loved the location. I would've given Red Setter Inn 5 star alone but since it was for my wedding and unfortunately did not have a good experience with the coordinator that comes with the venue I bumped it to a 2 star. If you choose the location for your wedding you will not be disappointed however I do recommend finding another coordinator. The wedding coordinator that comes with the venue was more than helpful in the beginning however the closer to the wedding the less interested she was. She made our family feel as though we were an inconvenience. Yes we did have a lot of questions but we were traveling from 4hrs away and at the end of the day this is her job. The day of my wedding as soon as the 'I do' was said, the wedding coordinator was no where to be found and it wasn't until the end of the night that we found her sitting having drinks - very unprofessional. Our family went above and beyond to be organized for the wedding coordinator. Everything was labeled in bins and had pictures taped to the front, so that way the person setting up (wedding coordinator and 'her staff') would just have to look at a picture and set it up according to the picture. For example -None of the party favors that my family spent endless amount of time on, were set out on the tables as previously discussed and shown in a picture. The bride and groom table didn't even have plates, drinks, silverware. Not once did she ask if the bride and groom needed anything. The list will go on and on. Sadly the most disappointing part of it all is that the morning of the wedding my family kindly gave the coordinator a tip out of good measure and then she so disrespectfully just sat down eating and drinking on our dime without offering to help AT All for the reception. If asked to do it all over again I would not have chosen Shaneen Elefante. If you're going to Red Setter Inn for any other occasion you will not be disappointed!! We recently stayed here with our children. We had an amazing time! The accommodations were great. It was clean and well taken care of. The rooms were spacious and each had their own attached bathrooms. We enjoyed being able to cook meals in the large kitchen as well as hang out in the back enjoying the views and fire pits and the creek. It was very near to Sunrise and we had a great time at the new tubing hill. We will definitely be coming back again and again!! read more

When my husband and I first visited Greer, there was a wedding taking place at the Red Setter. Since we were just dating then, I thought to myself what an amazing location this would be if we were to get married one day. That fairytale came true three weeks ago! Our wedding was everything I ever could've dreamed of! The entire weekend was laid out by our wedding coordinator, Shaneen, and could't have been more amazing, beautiful, and perfect! When you reserve the Red Setter for a wedding, you are reserving the entire property (minus a few separate cabins) for two nights so you are able to accommodate your entire wedding party and several guests. It makes the weekend that much more special. Each detail was exactly how I imagined and everything went as smooth as possible. Thank you so much! read more
