Sehr gut, sehr gut, sehr gut!!!! I walked up the road from the cabin I'm staying in to grab dinner at this quant restaurant. I opted for out on the patio since I had my dog with me. They are very dog friendly and very friendly folks in general. The nice lady that helped me said they smoke the Eisbien for 8/9 hours until it's falling off the bone. I ended up ordering it to go since it was windy, and they were closing within the hour and I didn't want to be that person. Let me tell you! I'm Swiss German. And I haven't had a meal this authentic since I was at my uncle Rene's restaurant in British Columbia or back in my mom's home country Switzerland visiting family. The Rotkohl and German fried potatoes took me back to family dinners. The food was fresh, and very wonderfully traditional. The sauerkraut was Bavarian which is my favorite. I gobbled it down with lots of moans of mmm and wow, and omg mmmmm mmmm mmkmmm. Guess where Im having my birthday dinner? Guess! Lol Such a lovely spot to relax amongst the beauty of the trees. The patio is wonderful. The views alone and the tranquility there make for a special spot. The food sends it into phenomenal!

Hubs & I drove up to Greer for a nice meal here at Edelweiss. It's not the first time we've been here & thoroughly enjoy the food. We shared the Beer Hots - which was a generous portion for the two of us. The second best thing about Edelweiss is the fact they serve Coke products. (lol - hard to find in the White Mountains). The server was attentive, though there was only one other table of 6 people enjoying their food too. We were they for a late lunch/early dinner and it was a Sunday. The restaurant itself is nice and airy, with great views. Not sure how to get to the outdoor seating. This is a nice option if you're looking for something other than steak & potatoes.

This place is a hidden gem! We have been coming up to Greer for years and never had the pleasure of eating here. There was one other family there when we arrived during lunch. We were greeted, handed menus and sat wherever we liked. The views there are beautiful. The food was outstanding, particularly the Hungarian Stew (pork). It tasted like it had been cooked just for me. The flavor was unbelievable. The only improvement they could possibly make would be to serve it over spatzel. Both schnitzels were delicious as were the brats. Portions were generous. I cannot wait to come back here again next year!

This was our first time at Greer and the appeal of the German food and beer at Edelweiss Resort and Restaurant is why we chose to stay here. No regrets!! It was beautiful, the food delicious and their beer and cider selections were great! The wonderful lady that checked us in also served dinner and shared with us the ingredients and how they make many items from scratch daily. We met Rodney at the lodge, he runs the rental gear and is a fantastic guy!! Super friendly customer service, tons of knowledge about the area and where to fish and we will definitely return here for our escape from the Phx heat. They rent recreational vehicles too!! Canoes, kayaks, SxS, E-bikes, Trikes, Can-Ams!!

The lovely view from the outside tables.

First time to try. Seemed the place to have lunch after fishing. Beautiful views from the outside tables. Huge beer list. Seemed close to 14. I got a very tasty Czech lager in the chilled .5 L glass. I was channeling Europe but this helped. Having been in the army in Germany for 3 years everything looked great and authentic. Went for the brats. The fried potatoes were epic. Took a little time but so does good food in Europe so I was very happy just relaxing with the epic view and charging waitress. Highly recommend. Lots more dishes I'd like to try !!

Okay, we decided to try Edelweiss. What a great view from their patio. Sitting outside o their multi-tier patio has a great view of the valley. The inside is good, but sitting outside is a must. They have a very good amount of choices on the menu and if you are looking for that German food fix, you will be able to find it here. The quantity of the food and quality was very good. My wife was able to find a gluten free option on the menu as well as a gluten free beer. Fantastic! I am very careful about discussing service. As someone who struggles with service staff hiring here in the White Mountains, I understand the challenge all restaurants face. Our server was very new and she was working by herself. She was in a little over her head and really could have used help. She was trying and I give her credit for that, but something I just can't go with out pointing out....... Unless I am at some food shack on the beach in Hawaii, I am never going to be okay with a server wearing flip-flops! If you are looking for something different when you are in Greer, Az., go ahead and give it a chance.

The cabin I stayed in was comfortable with two beds, a fireplace which I used. It was so lovely having a fire going when it started to rain, hail and then magically snow. Sidenote: Magical was the themed feeling for this trip lol. The kitchen is a FULLY stocked kitchen with everything you would need to cook or bake with. I even found coffee for the coffeemaker! I relaxed by the fire and read to my hearts content. I love that you can bring your pet for a $35.00 charge. Well worth it to have my best buddy with me on my bday. FYI: You can buy wood for the fireplace at the Lazy Trout about four to five minutes drive from the cabin. Cannot wait to rebook a stay!!

This place is gorgeous and the restaurant is set inside a barn, very spacious and airy. The waitress that helped me recognized me from earlier as they had a table at a small community fair happening in town and I told her I would stop by. She was like hey you came back! She put me right by a seat where my views of the Little Colorado River was just effin gorgeous, and there were also three smaller ponds next to the LCR. There was also live music here tonight and Terry Williams was phenomenal. I could not find his work online. Since it was such a beautiful setting, I thought why not enjoy a nice cocktail here! I chose the Jalapeño Bizness and substituted the tequila for mezcal. It was quite delicious, with a slight kick and so refreshing! For dinner, I had the chicken hatche chile mac which came with a salad. Salad was fresh and tasty. The chile mac was just OK but my goodness the portion was enormous and I had to take the rest to go. Overall, a very lovely restaurant and highly recommend you stop in, even if just for a drink. The place was relaxing, classy, and definitely what high mountain living is all about. Make sure you bring a jacket when the sun sets in the evening, because it will get chilly, but such a nice reprieve from the Phoenix inferno!

They are the retired parents of the owner and began managing the lodge a month ago. The lobby itself was very charming and rustic looking just as we had hoped. It was festively decorated with the Christmas theme and the natural log looking banisters and the cozy blazing fireplace set the tone for the weekend with our first step into the lobby. Our bedroom was huge, and everything was sparkling clean. We had a king bed and the bed frame itself was also made of natural looking wood logs. It also had a huge picture window to watch the snow falling outside. We did not get a room with a fireplace but there are several available. The lodge has a couple outside decks for entertaining when the weather is nice, and it gives a great view of the valley below and the mountains in the distance. My wife and I spent a wonderful evening lounging in the lobby and playing cards in front of the fireplace. The next morning, we woke up to a complimentary breakfast prepared by Diana and Mike that included eggs, potatoes, waffles, sausage, coffee, OJ and more. Diana even topped it off with a homemade muffin for my wife's birthday. It was a perfect weekend!!!

We just left the Greer Peaks Lodge. We booked at the last minute for the holiday weekend due to the…read moresometimes crazy schedule of my career. I can honestly say, we won't book here again, NOR will we recommend to anyone who plans on visiting this great little village. We don't mind paying the 'holiday premium' when the place we pay for 'delivers'. Unfortunately, this place did not. It's as if one checks in here and the managers or owners ? , check out after fully billing you upon check in. We checked in and were told the wifi would need to be reset as it was 'slow' when a lot of people try to connect. How many people are truly in Greer? We get it; we are in the mountains and it wasn't truly a big deal. It never worked. NOT even a little. Again, not a big deal. Our room was upstairs: upon entering it leaves a LOT to be desired. The carpet needs a good cleaning , in fact, much of the room does. The water in the sink constantly shot air while using and had low pressure. The toilet does the same with the air thing and you must hold the handle down when flushing. That can be alarming in the middle of the night. The sheets on one bed were stained and I thought about calling down to request new ones , OH! But there is no phone in the room. That makes the , ' In Room Dining Menu' a little confusing too, now doesn't it? There was a nice wad of chewed up gum to welcome my husband on his side of the bed on the headboard. My daughters bed had a terribly stained blanket, but with a hot, stuffy room, there would be no need for that. There are no drapes on the windows and the blinds are in need of revamping, so guess what.. sleep will end about 0600am. That's also the time when a flock of parent-less children will apparently be allowed to run up and down the halls and stairs of the lodge screaming and hitting the walls. There is no air conditioner either. The room was super warm when we got into it , so we opened the two windows; one in the bedroom area and one in the bathroom. I get it, it's the mountains, it was downright miserable without ac. It was uncomfortable and stuffy even in the middle of the night when it cooled off outside, this room just never ventilated well. We were up and out of the room by 0945a the next morning to hike and explore the area in Greer. The 'free breakfast' was no where to be found. No coffee was found either. We only saw the mess of it all in the breakfast room. even a toasted bagel on the floor. The complimentary bottled waters were all gone; the fruit that was mentioned was too, and only the same empty plate in the bottled water refrigerator remained from the night before, AND the water dispenser was also empty. There was NO one to be found and the girl that checked us in the day prior had told us 'IF we needed anything, that they lived on property and just let them know'. You just could never find them! We came back that evening and our room had not been cleaned or made up. No clean towels & no trash emptied. My husband said he had seen maids on his way to find the 'mystery breakfast and coffee' , so he knows they were cleaning other guests rooms. We had no DO NOT DISTURB sign on door either. We would understand if this was a cabin as we have stayed in those before and they don't always have daily service.. well, as I was reading thru the small flyer in the room, you have to place the SERVICE sign on door NLT 1000am for your room to be cleaned. That would have been nice to have been mentioned at check in. I've never seen anything like that, and I travel a lot. The place in general has so much potential. It's actually a lovely looking log cabin looking lodge. The area surrounding the lodge is beautiful, but seriously, no one seems to care. The rooms here look more like a road side motel with a price tag of 'we can gouge you and we will' than the rustic lodge cabin you enter. People would leave messes out on the decks and on the common tables in the living areas downstairs and no one seemed to care about cleaning up after that. We also were amused that we came in about 2145pm on our last night after dinner and the girl who checked us in was finally 'on property' as we were coming up the stairs to our room to literally raise her eyebrows at us rather than say hello or welcome us or anything. NOT a word! We were not sure what that was about. Very 'boarding house, den mother' attitude of her though and I was personally not amused . This is a lodge.. treat it and your guests as such. Let's discuss the hotvtub that had that awful smell of mildew as soon as it was opened.. no thanks. Maybe this is why there were rooms here available and not at the cute, MUCH, cheaper, nicer cabins our friends had. Word to all.. ( we knew this already!), plan ahead for this area and avoid this place unless you don't think sleep is important! I need a shower after a stay here. Two stars for the view & rickety deck
