We stumbled in this place during a visit to Greer. Because of the recent fire there were very few people in the area. We were not sure what to expect. We were greeted by a big smile of the Hungarian waitress/ hostess and felt like royalty from the moment we stepped in. The food and drinks were on point and the views were amazing. I highly recommend for a great homemade feeling dish and great service. Sadly I saw some of the bad reviews which surprised me. I imagine it has something to do with people that have no clue that fresh dishes take longer to make than fast food items. I would say even during a busy day this place is well worth the wait. We had a great time here. We rented one of the cabins as we had our 2 dogs with us. Really pretty location. The owners and staff are so nice and friendly. Sehr gut, sehr gut, sehr gut!!!! I walked up the road from the cabin I'm staying in to grab dinner at this quant restaurant. I opted for out on the patio since I had my dog with me. They are very dog friendly and very friendly folks in general. The nice lady that helped me said they smoke the Eisbien for 8/9 hours until it's falling off the bone. I ended up ordering it to go since it was windy, and they were closing within the hour and I didn't want to be that person. Let me tell you! I'm Swiss German. And I haven't had a meal this authentic since I was at my uncle Rene's restaurant in British Columbia or back in my mom's home country Switzerland visiting family. The Rotkohl and German fried potatoes took me back to family dinners. The food was fresh, and very wonderfully traditional. The sauerkraut was Bavarian which is my favorite. I gobbled it down with lots of moans of mmm and wow, and omg mmmmm mmmm mmkmmm. Guess where Im having my birthday dinner? Guess! Lol Such a lovely spot to relax amongst the beauty of the trees. Hubs & I drove up to Greer for a nice meal here at Edelweiss. It's not the first time we've been here & thoroughly enjoy the food. We shared the Beer Hots - which was a generous portion for the two of us. The second best thing about Edelweiss is the fact they serve Coke products. (lol - hard to find in the White Mountains). The server was attentive, though there was only one other table of 6 people enjoying their food too. We were they for a late lunch/early dinner and it was a Sunday. The restaurant itself is nice and airy, with great views. Not sure how to get to the outdoor seating. This is a nice option if you're looking for something other than steak & potatoes. read more

This place is a hidden gem! We have been coming up to Greer for years and never had the pleasure of eating here. There was one other family there when we arrived during lunch. We were greeted, handed menus and sat wherever we liked. The views there are beautiful. The food was outstanding, particularly the Hungarian Stew (pork). It tasted like it had been cooked just for me. The flavor was unbelievable. The only improvement they could possibly make would be to serve it over spatzel. First time to try. Seemed the place to have lunch after fishing. Beautiful views from the outside tables. Huge beer list. Seemed close to 14. I got a very tasty Czech lager in the chilled .5 L glass. I was channeling Europe but this helped. Having been in the army in Germany for 3 years everything looked great and authentic. Went for the brats. The fried potatoes were epic. Okay, we decided to try Edelweiss. What a great view from their patio. Sitting outside o their multi-tier patio has a great view of the valley. The inside is good, but sitting outside is a must. They have a very good amount of choices on the menu and if you are looking for that German food fix, you will be able to find it here. The quantity of the food and quality was very good. My wife was able to find a gluten free option on the menu as well as a gluten free beer. Fantastic! I am very careful about discussing service. As someone who struggles with service staff hiring here in the White Mountains, I understand the challenge all restaurants face. Our server was very new and she was working by herself. She was in a little over her head and really could have used help. She was trying and I give her credit for that, but something I just can't go with out pointing out....... Unless I am at some food shack on the beach in Hawaii, I am never going to be okay with a server wearing flip-flops! We were in Greer for a few days. Past reviews were wildly inconsistent, some really bad, but we decided to give Edelweiss a try. We have lived in Germany, and like German food. The service was fine, and the food outstanding. My wife and I each ordered a different sausage plate. The sausages were very tasty . The saurkraut was outstading, fresh and flavorful (with caraway seeds). I am generally not a huge fan of saurkraut, but I really liked this. The red cabbage and potatos were also very good. They have an extensive list of European beers. The server recommended a particular German hefeweizen, and it was great (they had three or four). My wife picked a Czech pilsner, and the server made sure she knew that it was a dark pils, not a light beer. The view from the dining room is fantastic. We had an excellent experience. read more

Unbelievable unprofessional establishment! Read ALL reviews on ALL major platforms!!!! My fb hometown of Greer site wouldn't let me post the truth. If I could give a -10 I would! We ate here in Aug 2023 on our wedding day. We returned in Aug of 2024 for our Anniversary. Dec is my birthday so why not, right? I called for hours. Daily from 12-8pm. We arrived at 6pm to find a sloppy looking teen sleeping on the couch with a young her girl sleeping in front of the TV and fireplace and an open bottle of wine. We looked around and there was nobody else in the place. I asked the teen if they were still serving. He woke up irritated, through the blanket back and said" I guess so, let me go ask my mom!" I said never mind! You don't have to be an asshole! We called in advance and drove an hour to get here. He started yelling GTFO and you can $uck my asshole! Wow!!!! My parents had restaurants for 37 years and would NEVER tolerate such behavior. So I read for 2 hours yesterday and came up with: Diane is the owner, her husband is the GM and she has 2 boys which most of the reviews with a 1 star came in contact with her RUDE 19 yr old Dante. Obviously they don't need the business. They just live there as a family and only respond to reviews from passers by with a good experience. Our first two were positive. I read a lot of experiences of bed bugs in the lodge, no heat, filthy, and NOBODY around. Only this teen sleeping on the couch. I guess it's his bed or he's left in charge? I think it's a hit or miss experience. Reviews are either 1-2 stars or a 5. I prefer to give my business who care and want to be there for the customer. They DONT CARE about bad reviews or their attitude towards the public and even the nearby residents! I think they make an "ok" meal only when it's convenient for them. If you say you're open, then be Open! I don't want such rude and careless people making my food! Please read ALL the reviews from all the major platforms that post reviews! I started to feel bad for this woman but then I though, I raised three boys and would never except such behavior. I predict they wont be around for long. Do better with your son Diane! Fantastic! Unexpected! Delightful! We decided to give this place a try for dinner on our trip to Greer. The gentleman who hosted and waited on us was kind and thoughtful and gave great recommendations for myself and the kids. The food was honestly delicious. I enjoyed the pork chops and my wife had the boar sausage. The outdoor seating was perfect with shade and a lovely view of the Greer meadows below. we went to edelweiss for a family fourth of july trip and had a blast! There amazing hiking trails literally right behind the resort that lead to its front door. Service was amazing and so was the food! They have great beer if thats what you're looking for as well! HIGHLY RECOMMEND read more

I guess this would most fairly be a 3.5, but I can't rate on the half. We arrived in Greer around 5 on Friday afternoon. Reception isn't staffed, so a waitress found someone to check us in We stayed in Cabin 2. It was very cute, super rustic. Two bedrooms and a futon, a kitchenette, an oven and microwave. Also the Greer tap water is delicious. I haven't had tap water that delicious in a VERY long time and dang, did I miss it. The food at the restaurant was awfully good; DH liked his sausage a lot and the fried potatoes were delicious. I had the chicken schnitzel with garlic sauce; the cucumber salad was crazy good but I think that I would have liked spaetzle instead of French fries with it. We did get dessert as it was my birthday, and the lemon cake WAS delicious. I liked how there was a little library and a DVD cabinet for borrowing movies. We watched "Oscar" and ate lemon cake. The downside: Cigarette butts on the porch, gross. :( The mattress was on a rolling metal frame and that made it difficult to get comfortable. There is a huge rock in the driveway that should be removed. The blinds in the bedroom don't work (both, probably) and that makes it really hard to sleep. You'll be awake at 6 whether you want to be or not! I saw previous reviews about things being filthy. That certainly wasn't the experience that we had aside from the cigarette butt on the porch. If someone fixes the blinds (or replaces them) it'll be a perfect vacation. I'd come back. read more

My husband and I were in Greer for the weekend for some relaxation and had dinner here. Our server Gregg was very accommodating! He brought us a a menu of their German beer to start. I am gluten free, therefore couldn't have any. For dinner he suggested a special dish that the chef had made especially for the employees to accommodate me. I was very impressed by the offer and accepted. It was sooo good! It was a mushroom dish in a paprika sauce to die for! As I was enjoying it, he came to our table with a gluten free bottle of Rose ' apple cider drink that he went searching for just for me! It was wonderful! Here was a case where I should have paid attention to all the horrible reviews! I called ahead and was told no need for a reservation, just come on in. Arrived 5:45PM and not very busy (which you will see didn't matter with only two staff working the "bar" and patio deck). Was told it would be a 20-30 min wait. We sat in bar area when the bartender/OLIVER came in we were never acknowledged or asked if we wanted a drink while waiting. (Right there is money lost for the owner!). We saw two tables emptying up so asked a female employee about one, and she said one was promised to someone else waiting but as soon as the other party left, we could have the second table. After a 40 min wait another woman walked in and told OLIVER she wanted a table and could they have the one we were waiting for. I overheard this so stood up and asked OLIVER about our table and he said it was promised already. I tried to argue and he just walked away, so my husband and I went out and sat at that table. Another female employee came out to bus the table and we told her the problem; she then came out with water and setups for us. After another 15 mins we inquired about getting served and she asked OLIVER to take our orders. We both ordered bar drinks and he asked for our food orders, which we gave. We observed tables around us repeatedly asking for service, drinks and their tabs, while OLIVER wandered around in what appeared to be a drugged stupor. Instead of bringing our drinks, or anyone else's requests, he instead cleared tables, put clean glasses away in the bar and paced around dazed. After 1 hr 15 mins I asked the female employee what was going on with our drinks, she walked right over to OLIVER and he acted like he didn't know what she was talking about and proceeded to continue stocking his shelves. At 7:30PM we stood up and started to walk out and were approached by the first female we met on arrival. She asked "didn't he take your order yet?" as if that's the norm there not to get served. We said yes but never saw him again after an hour and a half, as OLIVER was clearly ignoring us. I want to point out the party next to us, who had been seated almost 30 mins before us, had one of the party walk up to the nonexistent bar and ask OLIVER if she couldn't get a drink outside at her table. After a while longer she finally got one. Another family of five were sitting waiting for their bill when we sat down and 30 mins later their teen daughter had to grab the female and ask for their bill. Ten more mins went by and the girl grabbed OLIVER and asked again for their bill. A while later as they walked out, all scowling, OLIVER passed and told them to have a nice evening, to which the father said "yeah right!" More happy customers! So one hour forty five minutes later we left and it was worth it to drive to another town and had a wonderful, although late, dinner. There are tons of horrible reviews about this place's hotel, but I hoped we'd have better results with the restaurant. All I can say is this place has absolutely no system at all. During their busy season you would think they'd have more help, as clearly OLIVER and one other person cannot handle the patrons, which is costing the owner (if they even care) a lot of money. As anyone knows, if you're not getting your drink orders taken or brought to you, that's losing the majority of your restaurant income. They should start their improvements by getting rid of OLIVER, who clearly hates his job. Never torture yourself by entering this place, either for the hotel or the food! read more

The Edelweiss Resort has changed hands a couple of times the past five years so although management has changed the restaurant has remained open and is now serving Quality German food. I ate there August 23rd , Diana was my server she is a very pleasant lady as well as a good person to converse with. The Kassier Kotelett was excellent and the burgundy was smooth. A very pleasant meal. It was raining and a little cold that evening so I ate inside which is quite plain so if possible when visiting I recommend that you eat outside which offers a great view of the valley and is very pleasant. I would give this restaurant a 4 plus star review and I wholeheartedly recommend it. The rooms are also very nice although this time through I did not stay there. read more

It seems like the teenage kids of the owner are running this place. They seemed like they were high IF or WHEN you can reach them. They disappear constantly. No one at the desk. We went and asked for some coffee for our room. They told us they would bring it to us. That never happened. At 9AM the next morning, we went to the main lobby area to find some coffee and there was a slew of people waiting to check in and no one at the desk. We called the number on the note posted and it sounded like we woke them up. There no "continental breakfast". It's a coffee machine and some dry cereal (no milk) and bread. No in-person dinner some nights- only to-go. The restaurant closed at 6PM on Friday night?! (The door and lights were off) Our room was a mess! Dust and cobwebs all over. No soap or TP in the bathroom. Definitely needs updating for sure! The heater was not working. Had to make sure to light a fire in the fireplace to have heat. The fireplace was very nice! That was the best part. Very disappointing if you are going there thinking it's a full service place. The views and landscape are stunning but I would go in expecting to be ready to do things yourself- bring your own food/ toiletries. Or just go without. More like an Air Bnb style it seems. read more

we were the only ones in the dinningroom for an early dinner. I ordered one of their brat plates with sauerkraut and red cabbage. when my dinner came out the food was barely warm. after cutting into my sausage the inside was ice cold. very disappointed. the potatoes were supposed to be German potatoes but it was like regular fried potatoes. even those were not hot. I sent my meal back for an "obvious " microwave heat up. the food seems all premade and just a heat up as ordered. the bill for the 3 of us was $90 and not worth it at all.
