Looks like the resort has been renovated since many of these reviews were written. We just went here last week and thoroughly enjoyed our visit to PVC resort. We got a great deal for two nights in a 2 bed, 2 bath cabin via groupon but feel like it would have been worth the full price cost. The resort is off of the main strip through Show Low, Lakeside and Pinetop in a wooded and scenic area. My husband left our cranky toddler and I in the car while he checked us in only to be told in an unkind manner that I had to do the check in because my name is on the Groupon. I went in and check-in took about 10-15 min. due to instructions and descriptions of amenities (which are abundant). They have mini golf, pool, spa, fitness center, playground, horseshoe and bocce ball courts, propane grills all over (tools in cabins), a little train for kiddos to sit in, and games and movies to borrow from the reception center. They also have some spices and other kitchen amenities for you to borrow while cooking. There were family related activities (scavenger hunts, crafts, etc) planned throughout the week at the reception cabin. Everything at the resort is easily walkable and you can park directly in front of your cabin. The cabin itself is nicely updated and spacious with a perfect front porch seating area. Our initial reaction when we walked in was "wow. We would live here." The living room has a fireplace, pull out couch, rocking chair, beautiful skylights and a huge TV/DVD player and a zillion channels. The dining room table seats at least 6 and the large kitchen houses the washer/dryer, disposal, dishwasher, blender, toaster, coffee maker, and dishes, pans and utensils. Our trash can was full from the people before us but was emptied within 5 min after I called the reception cabin. Both bedrooms are large and also have the big Tv's and DVD players. Bedrooms and living rooms have nice ceiling fans and comfortable beds and pillows. We slept great. Cabin 19 must have a different mattress than the reviewer with a firm bed because ours was a perfect balance of soft but supported. The bathrooms were great with a huge jetted tub in the master bath. Our stay overall was comfortable and nice. The grills were easy to use and we took part in many of the other amenities as well. Aside from our initial check in, everyone was very kind, helpful and accommodating. Neighbors were friendly as well and the temp in July was in the 70's, thus everyone was outside. In town, Darbi's was tasty for mid-morning breakfast (and 15% off PVC discount) and Eddie's Country market was great for meat to grill.

They have a freezing pool and will kick kids out of the jacuzzi if they get in even if it's for a second to warm up.

Wow... Horrible experience not a family friendly place! I have been going to this place for the past 20 years and the policy's have turned for the worst to cater to 60+ year old grumpy drunks. It's sad to say but my 2year old daughter got assaulted by a drunk old lady because she was cold from swimming and hopped in the hot tub. The lady grabbed my daughter and started yelling your not allowed in here. The rules of course do not let any kids in the hot tub because "we cater to adults" they told me. It's sad because I had some good memories here growing up and now I won't be going back. Highly do not recommend going here if you have kids. It was a great place but not no more.

The staff is so nice and helpful! Mr. Chuck and Mr. Curtis are awesome! They told us the cool place's to take the kid's! We ALL loved the place's! Mr. Curtis had cool science and history stories! We can't wait to go back again and hope to stay longer then a week!! We love this place!!!!

That is what makes it a very special time in my opinion. Time to think and reflect, do projects, binge shows from your favorite streaming service, take long walks in the neighborhood and along nearby trails, and truly pull back from the normal day to day. With my dog nearby, it was a truly rejuvenating week. The units have everything one needs to be comfortable. Full kitchens, comfortable furnishings, two bedrooms and two bathrooms, a deck with furniture and a grill for your outside moments, and TVs, strong wifi, garage, and even a washer and dryer. I highly recommend Quality Hill for a great change of scenery, especially if you live in the Phoenix or Tucson areas. Pinetop is at 7300' in elevation, so the air is clean and the temps are much cooler. Hope you plan a visit soon!

As such each condo is decorated and equipped differently. Ours was comfortable and well equipped...even had a cappuccino machine but no instructions for use. Location wise Pinetop Showlow is great..it's les than 90 miles to Petrified Forest, Meteor Crater, Ft Apache, Sunrise Ski, Springerville ( great museum) Kinishba Ruins, etc. The resort has an excellent clubhouse with gym, board games, etc. If you like that kind of stuff. Now you can't be out doing stuff all the time..so I've got one item that got me...and it gets me at many resorts...it's streaming TV...impossible in most instances to get local news. Often limited channel choices unless you want to sign into your own Netflix etc. But why would a resort in this day and age select a streaming service that doesn't include live as on Dish or Cable versions of Fox or CNN or MSNBC...yes...I'm kind of a news junkie. Oh...almost forgot....this place has a garage for every unit....wow!!!! That's nice.

Before our arrival, I called on Tuesday and spoke with Erika, who was incredibly kind and understanding. I explained that we were traveling to town for the funeral of a childhood friend. When we checked in, I explained the situation again to the front desk associate, who was also very courteous. The hotel was clean, the room was comfortable, and everything started off wonderfully. We paid for a late checkout. Although it was a holiday weekend and the hotel could only extend it until 2pm instead of the usual 3pm., that was completely understandable and not an issue. I again explained that I would be attending funeral services about 45 minutes away in Cedar Creek, where I would have little to no cell service. My husband would remain at the hotel with our two young children, a 3-year-old and our 4-month-old baby--until I returned so we could leave together. I arrived back at the hotel at approximately 2:10pm and immediately went to the front desk. I explained that I had just returned from the funeral and only needed five minutes to change out of my dress into comfortable clothes before my family and I got on the road. The front desk associate and, I believe, the manager assured me that was fine that they will let housekeeping know. When I got to the room, I discovered that at 2:05 p.m.--just five minutes after our late checkout time--a staff member had already called the room, and my husband and our two small children had been asked to leave. They were standing outside the hotel with all of our luggage, our toddler, and our infant, waiting for me. That was incredibly upsetting. The hotel staff knew exactly why we were there. They knew we had paid for a late checkout. They knew I was attending a funeral and that I was returning as quickly as I could. Yet there was absolutely no grace, compassion, or consideration shown to my family. Five minutes after checkout, despite knowing the circumstances, my husband and children were already being ushered out of the room. That level of disregard was disappointing and unnecessary. To make matters worse, when I asked if I could quickly use a restroom to change, I was told there wasn't one available in the lobby. I was then sent back to the room we had just vacated, where three housekeepers were already cleaning it. It was a standard room with two queen beds--not a large suite--and I only needed a few minutes to change clothes before leaving. I've worked in hospitality myself and hold a bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, so I understand the importance of turning rooms over quickly, especially during a full holiday weekend. What I don't understand is the complete lack of empathy and basic courtesy shown to my family during an already difficult day. It's unfortunate that an otherwise wonderful stay was overshadowed by how we were treated at the very end. A few minutes of patience and compassion would have made all the difference. Instead, my lasting memory is of my struggling husband, with our frazzled toddler, and our sobbing four month old infant - standing disheveled against the wall outside with all of our belongings. IMMEDIATELY, after I spoke with front desk; upon returning from a funeral. The contradiction of hospitality in those moments was unnecessary, and left a very sour ending to an already terrible and emotional morning. I wasted time and energy being sent back to do exactly what was agreed upon, in a far more uncomfortable way. All I needed in that moment as a grieving and post partum mother was: a small crumb of peace and compassion. Yet, we were met with disregard. I'm absolutely furious. I'm patiently waiting on your response, looking forward to hearing back from you promptly.

Teach a man to fish, you get rid of him for the weekend! Guys, I gotta confess: I never went fishing before. Well, not really anyways. I've gone fishing with the family as a kid but I usually just played on the shore and grilled things while everybody else went fishing. So when I was invited to head up to Hawley Lake for two days and two nights, I was all for it! Enter: Hawley Lake Cabins by CDC. First off, let's not compare this to a hotel. These are cabins. I'm talking bare basic cabins. No TV [although you're free to bring your own. This place does have electricity and stuff.], no telephone, no alarm clock, no radio, no shampoo & conditioner included! Even the appliances and toilet are smaller than usual. Looking to use your cell for anything besides texting, calling, or being a paperweight? Forget it! Good luck using your 4G out here. Cellphone reception is spotty --- but what do you really expect when you're like 10 miles into the woods, surrounded by trees and a giant lake with wolves, elk, cows, and horses roaming freely about the land? People come here to sleep and then go fishing and/or hunting [provided they get picked for their lottery during hunting season]. The water from the tap can come out Arctic cold to boiling hot so be careful. Described on their site as, "Surrounded by lofty mountain peaks covered with spruce, pine and aspen, the serene setting of Hawley Lake has become one of the most popular attractions on the Fort Apache Reservation." --- Couldn't of said it better myself. So if you want to do some fishing and go offline for a bit, come here! It's kind of nice being surrounded by nature. Just remember to bring your SPF sunscreen, bug repellent [mosquitoes remind us that we are not as high up on the food chain as we think], and shampoo & conditioner!
