And not nearly as crowded either, I was going in and out of downtown on a weekend and there was plenty of seating each time. Ticket machines at every station that take credit cards no matter how far out and helpful staff / conductors with pleasant attitudes. Downtown "free fare zone" where you can enter and exit with no ticket is very small, but it does save you a kinda long walk in the cold going between the Intermodal station (Greyhound / Amtrak / Frontrunner) and the courthouse / library area of downtown.

A lot of the route stops have no sun shade it's just a sign. They could use some kind of sun detector in the summer. But the buses and trains are all really clean and don't stink (I'm looking at you LA) and the staff have all been very friendly. I had one of the UTA on demand driver actually help me set up the app. They have their own police and they were all over the trains hopping the cars. So far other than the wait they all are very good at being on time. They have consistently been on time. The staff also (and yea that their jobs I get it but still) very ADA friendly. They have a service to pick up and drop off handicap. They drivers have been very nice and helpful when I've seen them interact with handicap people. Definitely a worthwhile option over Uber and Lyft.

The touchscreen is apparently from 1990 with a sweet 4-second lag time. Want your terminals to be damaged from people punching them in frustration? Then you're in the right place. Say you want to catch the Frontrunner from the airport down to Utah county... Good luck magically knowing that you need a Frontrunner ticket starting at the North Temple station (oh, and that's the North Temple *Bridge* station of course, not the 1940 North Temple station). I still have no clue if I'm also supposed to pay for a Trax ticket from the airport to North Temple (again, obviously not the non-bridge North Temple, as that wouldn't transfer you anywhere). The Trax train very conveniently doesn't say 704 anywhere on it, just "GRN" (which obviously means green?) despite Google and the UTA trip planner giving the number 704. But rest assured, that number is just there to help confuse you, since you wont be able to find it anywhere. I've travelled around the world and the UTA transportation here wins for the most retarded piece of crap I've ever seen. Don't waste your time. It's not worth the hassle of trying to figure out UTA's nonsense, as the concept of usability in a mass transit system never crossed their mind.

The times I've done this I've found accomodations at "The Avenues hostel" still a 1 mile walk to the nearest rail terminal. The prices are pretty reasonable for public transportation purposes about the only downside is that the shuttle buses only run to a certain hour in the evening. If you plan it right you can even get a full day of skiing before having to catch a return flight.
