Very expensive and unreliable service. Trax often leaves you stranded in random stations with no options to continue the journey. Constantly in construction and maintenance, but Trax keeps not showing on time. When bus bridges are enacted, UTA brings back old 1980's busses with no enough sitting nor AC. Their planning is so poor that they pack everyone into one bus. Handicapped and elderly people often have to travel standing. Now I'm stuck at the Trax station. Announcement keeps saying that there is statewide delay of 10-15 minutes, but I have been waiting for over 25 minutes and the Blue line is not showing. If you don't want to be fired from your job for being late, plan an extra hour of commute or longer. UTA is an embarrassment! read more

Bus number 217 she was super rude to me the Blonde, fat girl that was driving the bus. ive had issues with this bus before another time it was a black guy driving the bus I was riding the Bus she kept yelling at me to turn off my music when I wasn't even the one playing any music or any type of sound she kept saying she got me in camera so I pulled out my phone and started to record her the way she was yelling at all of us in the bus was super uncomfortabl. I will never ride this bus again. I am very discreet about playing any music in my phone I don't do that I know it's disrespectful the way these bus drivers talk to you. They don't even ask you nicely to turn off your phone. They start yelling at you. You can tell they don't like their jobs. I started recording the blonde fat girl because she was harassing me to get off the bus while I was on her bus there was anither passenger trying to kiss me and do inappropriate things to me and she didn't kick That guy off the bus the only thing that seed to bother her was people on their phones i believe her Name is Suzette Nielson she started saying that I didn't pay for my ticket when she gave me a ticket. I didn't wanna fight with her so I just got off the bus and I and I got on another 217 name was Anthony and he was very nice. read more

Employees are terrific but this system is not designed for those of us unfamiliar with UTA. You have to tag but except for the bus, the tag machine is all by itself not inside the vehicle. Apparently you tag getting on and leaving. Their app is useless in planning a trip. The app refers you to google maps and google wants to put me on a bus that comes hourly. That can be bad especially if you miss the bus and it is cold. There might be other options where transportation is more frequent but google doesnt give me that option. And when planning to come here want wanting to figure out transportation from the airport, the UTA app wanted to know my location. Since I wasn't in SLC, it didn't give me an option to "pretend" I was at the airport. And that new airport is HUGE with long walking distances. Where do I get off? And why that station instead of another station. And I don't want infrequent busses. The grid system is confusing enough and I am from Pittsburgh. It seems transportation covers the city well and there is even a free zone. But please do something with your app because referring me to Google maps is not helping me plan my best route. Putting me on an hourly bus only works if I don't have to wait most of that hour. read more

This is a transfer stop for all three lines in downtown SLC. Red, Blue and Green all stop here. You will taste what little diversity exists in SLC here. I made an inquiry on the 19th about a vending machine being out of service on 6th east on the red line toward the university. You replied to my message about using your fare pay system. Your fare pay system I do not use as it does not give me a physical copy of proof of purchase. It only gives me a card that does not indicate it has tapped or no. Those fare pay cards do not provide a time of expiration of fare. Your system tells what time it was tapped/tapped off. The UTA police has access to when it was taped by your pedestal but does not give a record of proof of purchase to me. If I was making a complaint about your fare pay system. I would be writing in your fare pay system. I use you services to get to and from work everyday. It is beneficial for me to purchase a ticket since I use said service for that purpose. I did not say that the other vending machine was inoperable. I said it took me 6 attempts to get a ticket from the other vending Machine on the platform. The east side vending machine as 2 to 3 second delay with a specific way you have to remove your card after that delay. You told me the west side vending machine has been out of service since the 8th of October. It is now the 24th of the October. Your saying this ticket system works in 7 days. Why has the west side vending machine not been repaired as of 23rd of October. The east side of the platform is 2 to 3 second wait till light turns green on debit system. If a failure occurs there is usually 30 second transaction failure screen until you can reattempt. You ask customers to arrive early to you platform but due to a system I use almost on a daily basis. This means I am walking the length of the platform 3 minutes. I using your vending machine 6 time 3 minutes. If the train is at the platform I cannot board that train even if I run. If you told me I was supposed to have a tap credit card instead of magnetic strip. My bank does not support that sort of card system. Nor do I own a smart phone which can be accessed via an app tap system. The UTA police asked if I purchased a ticket. Your vending machine did not provide a ticket on the previous day until after 6 attempts. The west side Vending machine is closer to entrance to that platform. Allowing paying customers to access that vending machine faster and more efficiently. You as staff don't like it when UTA customers cross through the fencing that is on east side of that platform or walk on the Trax themselves outside of the cross walk system. You can site customers for misusing the platform but you currently are discouraging the most accessible vending machine to that platform which is located at the entrance to that platform. read more

I have been taking UTA to and from work for years, I moved to Riverton 2 years ago and shortly after I moved here they decided to discontinue the busses and instead use a ride share program called VIA. They are consistently unreliable. On average I have to wait 1-2 hours to even be assigned a ride, then they are always 30 minutes away. I've had friends ask me about them, but I can't in good concience recommend them. read more

I'm visiting here because I'm at a convention and I've had issues twice already with the train with it just stopping for a few seconds and then taking off. Coming off of one train and having to run for the next is no fun, especially if you're a visitor and to have the train just take off in front of you is not nice for anyone. read more

A neat little light rail train ride. From the airport, I took it to downtown, up to UTE, and back to SLC. $5.25 all day pass.

Taking TRAX is more costly, less time efficient, and more stressful than driving. Also, the TRAX stations have minimal shelter from the elements. Seats on the trains have been removed to make way for cyclists which makes the trains much more crowded. During the inversion (smog) season, waiting for a train can be dangerous as you'll be breathing toxic air. I now only take TRAX when absolutely necessary, which is almost never. read more

TRAX is an efficient train system, but you have to be careful of a few things. When the trains are not in service the ticket machines will still sell you a ticket. The website may or may not list the days TRAX is not operating or have this info in an obscure place. A notice of when TRAX is not operating won't necessarily be posted on the ticket machine either. Also, don't expect the driver to wait and open the door if you are running up to and standing next to the stopped train. The TRAX operator will just leave you even if you are right next to the stopped train pressing the open door button. Finally, there are not many folks in the Salt Lake area who deliberately violate the law, so UTA police don't have much to do. If you are leaving a TRAX station and legally cross unoccupied tracks don't expect to EXIT the area of the train tracks if the guard rail is down across the sidewalk (and street). You must stay between the guardrail and the unoccupied train tracks on the sidewalk until the guard raises or you will get a ticket. Don't ask me why it's safer to stay between the active tracks and guardrail, but according to UTA police it is, and going under the guard rail to EXIT an unoccupied but potentially active track area will get you a ticket. Good luck riding. TRAX is a great train system but mind your P's and Q's, even when it's illogical. read more

I would like to express my extreme displeasure with the Lost and Found department for the UTA in Salt Lake city. I forgot/lost my keys this morning on the bus and abruptly realized it when I got off. I waited on the same route for my number to come back around but unfortunately that bus turned into a different route. I proceeded to call the lost and found number and gave them the information as to which route I rode, the time I got on and off and they told me I had to call back in a half hour to see if my keys were found. They didn't take any of my personal information, they didn't ask for a description of my keys, nor did they offer any kind of customer service in regards to calling me if or when they keys were found. I called back about an hour later and got a different agent, Josh. I gave him the same information and he told me that a set of keys were in fact found but he was unable to tell me if they had a description of the keys. He told me that I could go to the main central station on the next business day to see if they were mine. Apparently the UTA policy is anything found on the bus/trax is dropped off and then sent to a central "Lost and Found" for pick up for the public on the next business day, and when I expressed my frustration in regards to this policy on a Friday I was told by Josh, "well I'm sorry you lost your keys in the first place". I found this to be a very inappropriate response from someone in his role and a very unhelpful and unprofessional person overall. I would hope that in these types of situations the UTA would try to be more helpful to those who have lost things. read more

Horrible traffic coming out of Big Cottonwood Canyon caused a Teo hour wait to leave Brighton. Not UTAs fault. But with a full bus, why are we stopping at Solitude to tell them we have no room but another bus is behind us. Like 5 vehicles behind. For the third time today I must sit at some station for 30 EXTRA minutes waiting for the next available transit because a train was late. That's 90 wasted minutes on top of my nearly 4 hour daily commute. I use UTA every day and that's not even the worst day I've had in the last 3 months. UTA doesn't deserve low ratings because the trains are late. UTA deserves low ratings because they don't adjust their bus schedule to accommodate consistently late trains. I ride UTA about twice per month and have about a four-star experience each time. What happened today, though, is unacceptable. I purchased tickets for a Clark Planetarium show on a Saturday afternoon. I went to the Clearfield Frontrunner station set to take a ride that would get me to the planetarium a little less than an hour early. Five minutes after the departure time there was still no train. Ten minutes, still nothing. My husband checked the UTA Twitter and found out there was a delay earlier that morning at north bound Woods Cross but no updates since. How about tell us how the delay affects the rest of the schedule? Five more minutes passed and I called UTA. The representative didn't know anything so she asked her supervisor. I was told they don't know what's going on but everyone at the station would have to wait an hour for the next train. That meant my husband and I would miss our show. Guess we're driving. If there had been proper communication or even knowledge on UTA's part on why there was a delay and for how long that would have been slightly better. Get your act together, UTA. Be aware of your delays and any issues that arise and make that information available to your paying customers. Update the electronic signs with this useful information, don't force your customers to have to call you to find out why your paid service isn't working properly. read more

Man do these guys need better working with ALOT in their way of running this buisness today I left my house around 8 to get to work It told me that Transit with both buses and the train would take about an hour which was fine with me. I get off the train tracks and get to the bus 72 stop here in Midvale that you can get to after the blue line. Oh my god did I want to rip my own head off for I was waiting for almost a complete hour for the bus to show up and it's not even on weekend time yet 50 minutes are you serious? And not only that the bus driver wasn't apologetic happy and it's seriously only took him three minutes to get from stop I needed to my work I was almost an hour late today and very frustrated the fact that no bus showed up during that time. I give these guys a one-star because they are constantly late constantly bickering and never in a goI'd mood and it also seems like their employees don't give a rat's tail about showing up on time neither to the bus stops when they're supposed to. Total garbage service and I'm going to be using these guys as less as I can honestly. Like I said total garbage service and I'm going to be using these guys as less as possible. Good job UTA you once again lost someone else to not use your service a little as possible.
