Recently I have enjoyed his cheesesteaks with onions, peppers and mushrooms. Really yummy food and for a very affordable price. Ordered for a large group of people and was able to get food relatively quick for an affordable price. Just ordered 2 pizzas and a 4 combo calzone. We moved to Barre at the end of the summer last year and we haven't had a chance to try it until today. It was great and we were very happy. Nothing was overcooked, flavorful but not salty, and it wasn't greasy. My daughter loved the pizza. Definitely coming back here to try more of the menu soon read more

I've been twice before today and loved it, and talked with the owner. This had become one of my all-time favorite places. So, today we built a whole afternoon around having a meal here. We checked the website and the hours, and the menu. Looked great! We drove 90 minutes to Barre specifically to eat at this place, and found it closed through October 27. The website mentions nothing about the closure. We were very disappointed. (I see that Yelp also has no mention of the closure.) We went to J&J Family Restaurant, a six-minute drive away, and loved it. read more

Our short cut home turned into many extra miles and we needed a meal. Found Red tomato on line and were pleasantly surprised. Fish was definitely fresh and price for fish, fries , garlic bread and soup was great. Husband was very pleased with the Clam Chowder and the Tortellini Rose. Will definitely revisit if in the area. Could not find a way of removing stars from this "establishment". I was present when someone placed an order for 2 Fisherman's platters for dinner. The order was retrieved and brought back to the home to eat. upon inspection, there were NOT fisherman's platters in the container but a couple of fish sandwiches. Not what was paid for or ordered. The establishment was called and the person answering the phone admitted that the chef had made an error and cooked the wrong meal. To which a return trip to the restaurant was made to pick up the correct order. THIS was not the problem. The person ordering arrived at the shop and handed over the incorrect order, which was promptly thrown in the trash. The counter help then told him that he owed another sum of money for the "Correct order" He was originally charged for the Fisherman's Platters. Of course, a disagreement ensued and the owner of Red Tomato called him an "Asshole" for not wanting to pay more money and demanded he left the store (He did NOT refund him the money that he had already paid and he was leaving without any food) But WAIT, it gets better. He returned to the house obviously upset to which his wife offered to call and straighten it out. She did. She explained what had happened and that this was a misunderstanding obviously. The owner was crass, to say the least, called her a derogatory name, and told her to STOP Bothering them, to which he slammed the phone on the cradle. There is NO WAY ON GOD'S GREEN EARTH I would ever expect such an interaction. There is NO WAY that I would tolerate such abysmal customer service. It fails to matter if the food is good or not with this sort of obscene behavior from the staff and owner. Let's add a little insult to the injury.. This is not the first time any of us have ordered from or eaten at the Tomato. The owner was familiar with the customer and recognized him as a repeat. (They order the Fisherman's Platter frequently) So Apparently the Red Tomato has absolutely zero interest in servicing the customers and providing them with the proper food. I certainly will never spend another dime in this place, and I hope you feel the same. Sorry to see a small restaurant that does not want to remain in business, but apparently they do not. Hope this helps you make a decision to never patronize the establishment. I certainly will not. I also will let everyone that I know who is in the area of Barre not to as well. First let me say we are new to Barre Camping area. We tried this restaurant and the food is amazing. The roast beef grinders have a ton of meat, fresh made and fantastic. My granddaughter had a chicken tender platter. She said the chicken was really good and juicy. We also got fish and chips. Fish was very good came with french fries, soup or salad and garlic bread. We have been there a few times and were never disappointed. read more

Went a couple of months ago and was disturbed to see employees working behind the counter unmasked. Avoided until now but other pizza place was not open, so I ordered from Red Tomato again. Owner walking around unmasked, only put on a mask when ringing me up. If you want to be exposed to mask less service I heartily recommend the Red Tomato. I won't be returning, ever! read more

Great good and you can order online which is awesome. The owner and all the staff are also very nice. As a fairly regular patron over the last two years, you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. I have eaten there several times now and considering I have ordered the same thing all but this last time I have been really pleased with my meal. The first 3 times I ordered the chicken gyro with fries and I had never had one before and I instantly hooked. I changed it up today and ordered a pasta dish of shrimp/scallop basilico OMG to die for. I cannot give high enough praise as it was delicious. (seafood can be tricky and when a shrimp is overcooked forget it) Run dont walk to this place. read more
