Red Wave is like a blast from the past. Before a couple weeks ago-- I hadn't stepped foot in here in yearsss! Not because I didn't like the place, but because I hate Shaw traffic and I don't like being around people if I have a choice lol but when I'm feeling social and have the right people around me? Yes, please. Main thing we've gone for, obvi, are their Red Beers. I was never (still not) a beer drinker but the only thing that can make me drink beer?... these guys (Micheladas in general). They make a mean Miche! It may be frowned upon but I like mine with ice-- lots of it! Don't worry, with all the drinking you do, they also have fooooood-- and it's pretty darn good. The one thing I remember from years ago was their Chile Verde Quesadilla... it was bomb! Fast forward probably a decade+ later? Still bomb! On top of that-- my friend ordered their Nachos to share... yup, you guessed it! Bomb! My other friend ordered their Torta as well. I did not try it off her but I will take her word for it-- she said it was bomb. Duh. For a bar tucked away in the alley they're in (that's what it feels like to me)-- it's a decent size with significant space (parking can be tricky). Plenty of seating available and space to move around. It's exactly how you'd expect a bar to look and feel. The staff has always been quick to take our orders, super friendly, serving up quality, and they keep the place clean. I don't know what took me so long to come back but I'll try not to let my next visit go as long. This past visit happened to be a Karaoke night which was an added bonus. I can't sing like I wish I did in my head but hey-- I love to sing anyway (if I'm not shy). Enough liquid courage will do it. My friends and I took a few rounds on the mics together and it was a blast! If I remember correctly... Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays are when Karaoke nights are held. I've been coming here over a decade. So many great memories of their Micheladas and food. The pico de gallo still tastes amazing! Just like I remember it. Came on a Thursday and we scored the $1 hard shell tacos! I can't believe they brought those back! Unfortunately... everything was so expensive:( $3 - 3 hard-shelled tacos $9 for a michelada - it was the smallest cup, maybe a pint. Still good lol $12.99 for the chile verde burrito. It wasnt stuffed like it used to be and filled with rice and beans. The chile verde was shredded. Bf said he prefers robertitos more. Wow. They serve tamales now. 3.99. Masa was dry once the tamale cooled off. This is the saddest part: 18.50$ French fries nachos (vegetarian). 5 years ago they were 10.50$. That's such a big price jump. Portion is smaller too. Sis n bf told me, "you could have made that at home." Sigh. Skip the red salsa. It's got a kick but no flavor. Everything we ordered, they gave us 2 containers of pico and 3 containers of red salsa. 5 total salsa. I asked for me and told them you can charge me for it. They never brought any. No lemons either. Everything cost me about 61$ and i tipped $8. That's a lot. I have always raved about Red Wave to so many many people. Now I'll probably only return for some cheap hard shell tacos and that pico on Thursday if I'm near... but honestly i hardly get out now. I use to come in here now and then back in the day, and have recently been back a lot. The bartenders are always super cool and efficient. My buds and I especially like the bartender Greg Tharpe, he always does a fantastic job! The beer and their famous Michelada's are made well. It was pretty empty when I went in, but I was greeted by Andre and it turned out really great! He was easy to talk to and happy to give recommendations! Really appreciated! I started with Pinot Noir and I was really happy they had it. The wine came in a bottle and it was really fantastic! Smooth! The triple meat tacos were recommended along with their ceviche. They do ceviche on Fridays. I ended up going with their 3 meat tacos plate. They make their food really clean and take the healthy way in all they make. This is a pretty fun place! I was visiting the S.O. in Fresno and was not really sure what Fresno had to offer. We went to this little dive bar around the corner and we were both pleasantly surprised. First, do not expect anything glamourous, but do expect to have a good time. First, the drinks are the best part of the place. I ordered the Michelada because it is one of my favorite drinks but everyone was walking around with them. It was the BEST Michelada I have ever had. It had a lot of spice (thank you Tapatio...) and lots of chili powder/salt. I got it with Dos Equis beer and I was good to go. One more thing to mention, they're HUGE. We went on a Wednesday night and it was pretty much a college night. They played music from the 90's which always harkens me basic to a nostalgic time. They also had an awesome selection of karaoke songs. I did get up and sing a little AC/DC which was pretty amazing. The people here are really nice and there is a lot of seating options as well. I thought it would be more of a college crowd because it was directly across the street from the Univ., but turned out to be working class people just getting off work looking for a nice drink. The female cook first told me that they didn't have ground beef for the enchilada but then when I cordially showed my disappointment in that-she responded "if you can wait 15 min I'll make it for you"! . I've been to this place before and I've had a good experience in the past before covid. Today I went to join a few friends for a Birthday and I go to the bar and order a Michelob Ultra bottle. The guy charges me over $11 for one beer amd hands me the receipt and my change from $20 cash. I looked at it and said omg it's $11 for this one beer and he said yes the prices have gone up. I said that is a crazy amount but I accepted it, left my receipt left a $1 tip when usually I leave more and went to sit with my friend. As I went back to my friend, I expressed how outrageous the price was and said I won't be drinking here with those prices and we went on to talk about it. The other girl in our party got the same drink and when my friend told her how Much I for my drink she looked at her receipt and said they only charged me $6.50. I said what? Can I see your receipt and it was true. I took her receipt and went to the same guy that charged me to ask why I was charged over $11 for the same beer. When I questioned him, he of course asked for the receipt and I told him I left it at the bar. He first denied that he charged me $11 and I repeated my conversation with him and he said no you asked me if it was $7 for the beer. He did not try to look for receipt which was left maybe a few minutes before, I had only taken one drink from my beer and he goes to the register talks to another guy there and brings back a $20. He doesn't tell me what he is doing but slowly puts the $20 dowm takes the change I had on the bar, slowly takes my beer and puts it behind the bar and says nothing. I said I'm sorry what are you doing? He nods his head no and doesn't say a word. I said no what? You are not going to give me a beer? He said no there is your refund. I said so I don't get to have a drink with my friend and he said no. Very bad customer service! I left and called the manager. When I talked to the manager he said he would talk to the guys serving the bar. He never tried to recover the bad service that was provided to me, he talked over me telling me how the prices have gone up since covid and how customers have been complaining which is probably why they give receipts now because they didn't used to do that. Sad to say I will never return there again. Customer service 101.. the customer is always right, someone needs to teach them that! At least attempt to find the documentation of the purchase, look at the transactions and attempt to look for the receipt. Don't take the full drink away, only to throw it away. First impression and definitely dive bar status. Second look, once your eyes adjust to the ambient lighting, taps and a good selection of bottled/cab beers. Third look- many people drinking tall red beers. Da "chelada" the best in town. There's slight variations from all the bar tenders, but it's still the best in town. They usually have a great selection of beers on draft. Da food - it's outstanding! I highly recommend something off the menu="Tachos" tater tot nachos ! Damn worth every single calorie. Excellent tap selection, mellow atmosphere, and the best carne asada tortas I have ever had (which I have gotten many of my friends addicted to), and even the fries are always piping hot, crispy and salty, which washes down nicely with a tall frosty glass of General Sherman. read more

Omg I love this dive bar!!! It's where I go when I want a bomb ass michelada and torta. They have a small menu of food and appetizers and everything I've tried is good. They have several beers on tap including some craft beers and ciders. To my knowledge this is a beer place, no mixed drinks. The bartenders are cool.
