I pass by here on my way home from work and keep saying I'm going to stop and thankfully today I did! This place is amazing!! I ordered carne asada and carnitas tacos, carne asada burrito, beans, rice, chips and salsa , everything was amazing. The meats are tender, flavors all blend well and are very tasty. This is my favorite Fresno taco spot. If you get tacos here you have to get the grande tacos. They had about 7 or 8 meat choices. But the grande has cheese, onion, cilantro, avacado anddddd beans but they're cooked right. You can tell these ladies cook for you the way they cook for their own families! Looking a for a little hole in the wall place, this is a good place for tacos and burritos. I got a breakfast burrito #6, I could eat that again. It was big, wish it was wrapped a little tighter but still kept together throughout. The green sauce is really good the red sauce is super spicy, lacking some salt to elevate it. I also got chips and salsa, the salsa is just pico, not impressed, but after adding some red and some greens sauce, it was good. At 830 in the morning it was pretty packed. The lady at the counter is super nice, speaks English and Spanish, which is always great! Was super helpful with ordering, even though the menu was pretty self explanatory. I was talking to one of the customers and he said he comes here at least 2 times a month just for the tacos grandes. He definitely recommends those. I was already too full after the burrito. I've seen this place for years but had not tried it until yesterday. I walked in, it wasn't busy, the restaurant was quiet and very clean. I was immediately greeted by the staff. They asked what I wanted to order. I asked what was on the tiny tacos. She said meat of choice, salsa, onions and cilantro. I told her I wanted four but no cilantro. I asked if they had verde salsa, she said yes and asked how many I wanted. I asked if there was a charge for them (I know some restaurants charge for them) and she said no. I got them to go. My order was ready very quick and when I took the first bite I experienced a flavor explosion. These tacos were absolutely delicious! I highly recommend this restaurant. COVID-19 phase: My mother ordered 2 Grande Platos with chicken and jalapeños. The worker asked burrito or plate. The worker spoke very little English and wasn't very nice. She said it would be ready 10 minutes. We went to get it! Workers are masked and they are required to enter. They do take out only and the restaurant shows that in not the cleanest manner. You will see in pics. The plate charge on the yelp menu is different from on the app. It is more on their menu in the restaurant from what is on Yelp. FYI everyone! The order was ready. We got it and left after finding out why the price was higher than on the app. My Grande Platos plate looked really tasty and it was delicious! The chicken was shredded, tender and really good! It came with pinto beans and those were great. The rice was too! It also came with a flour tortilla that looked homemade and tasted really great making it into a little burrito with everything that I got with it. Good salsa too! Plus, it is a lot of food! I've been coming to Taco Grande for years and have been a fan for quite some time. I haven't been here in a while since I stopped working in Fresno years ago, but I was in the area and craving some tacos so I dropped in. Taco Grande did not disappoint. It was as tasty as ever and still made fresh to order. The Asada tastes exactly like I remember. It tastes like someone barbecued it and chopped it up then threw in some melted cheese, whole beans, pico de Gallo and topped it with avocado. Man this place is crazy good. Service is great as well. My first time here and it did not disappoint. I came because I wanted a breakfast burrito to go and I was at the Target nearby. The #4 chili verde breakfast burrito was generous in size, reasonably priced and delicious! When I got back home, after a short drive, the burrito was still nice and hot. I chose the green salsa but didn't even try it yet as I wanted to taste the chili verde spicing first. It was muy bueno. My 200th review is in: Seedy strip mall with homeless camped out right outside a liquor store, you'll want to keep your eyes out. The parking lot is tightly cramped and I suspect the odds of getting hit are statistically high here. The restaurant appeared to be well kept. I enjoyed the taco I had but felt the burrito could have been a better value. The onion and cilantro was plopped to one side and not evenly distributed throughout the burrito. At over $7.00, it had no cheese, lettuce, or sour cream. I like more texture in my food. The pork verde meat was good but I could taste none of the green Verde sauce and it was pretty bland overall. The staff was pretty friendly and I will give them another try sometime. One thing I did really like was that the tortilla was perfectly steamed, hot and soft. I tried this place on a whim and it far exceeded my expectations. I ordered the burrito grande with asada meat and my bf ordered the taco grande with al pastor. We got our food in less than 15 minutes and it was warm and fresh! The asada meat in my burrito was tender which really surprised because other places I've tried have hard chewy asada meat. So right away, I was already impressed. Additionally , the beans, rice, cheese, and avocado made it all the more flavorful and fulfilling! The flavor was on point and the burrito was huge! It was well worth the money ($9). Now on to the tacos. I personally think they are overpriced. It's a little over $3 for 1 taco and my bf bought 2 and it did not fill him up. But personally, they were really good (according to him). Their Al Pastor was a little more liquidy than he was used to but he really liked the tenderness of the meat and the flavor/seasoning. They also had red hot sauce and Chile verde hot sauce in squirt bottles. These have to be the best tasting hot sauces I've ever tried and I've tried many Mexican restaurants. I was introduced to Taco Grande from a friend, and instantly became a fan. It's probably the avocado on the taco that did it for me. They are a bit pricier than say, Lola's or Al's Rico's, but worth a try if it's your first time. I then transitioned to the burrito, which I felt was more bang for my buck. That is, until I discovered the nachos. OMG! These nachos are absolutely to die for. Best I've ever had. I know every time I order them, I'm going to get heartburn, but it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make. Of all the meats I've tried them with, I only don't recommend the chilli verde if you're not a fast eater, because the chips will get soggy pretty quickly. And for the price, you get a huge plate. So bring your Rolaids, or Pepsid, because you're going to be feeling the burn later. Today, I came for a breakfast burrito, and made the mistake of taking the burrito out of the foil to cool it down, because it was super hot. One of my favorite spots for asada burritos in Fresno (go for the burrito grande). The breakfast burritos are OK, I'd say average. In terms of service, it really depends on who is working. There are a couple of folks that are very friendly and a pleasure to talk to whereas a couple of others pretty much talk to you as if it's a burden to take your order. A very disappointing experience there today. My daughter ordered some cheese nachos, which are not on the overhead menu but which the person at the counter said that they could serve. He then rang it up at $10.84, and I reacted with surprise. Cheese nachos for over ten bucks? He said that they give a large portion, with a lot of cheese, and so I accepted and paid. What we received was really, really underwhelming. It was a styrofoam container with chips . . . but the "cheese" was nothing but a bunch of that orange-ish imitation cheese sauce that one typically sees from cheap snack bars at fairs or sporting events, high school cafeterias, etc. I really don't get how any reviewers here can laud the place for "authentic" Mexican cuisine when THAT is the "cheese" that is on their nachos. An authentic Mexican place would put actual cheese on there, not that cheap imitation "cheese" sauce. And, I get that inflation is forcing restaurant prices upwards. That is unavoidable. But, you still need to provide a decent product for the price, and that was not done here. Ten bucks for chips plus canned, cheapy "cheese" sauce is simply not just. I have not tried the other food at this taqueria, but I am definitely going to avoid it now, based on today's experience. read more
