Wow! I was hoping folks were exaggerating when they wrote about the prices at this place. Sadly, they weren't. Their pricing on secondhand handbags, shoes, and clothing is absolutely ridiculous! $25 - $35 for used shoes? $20 for used clothing? But the kicker was watching through locked doors as employees raced big bins of shoes AWAY from the shoe area right before they opened the store. Our guess is that these were the nicer shoes that were marked with that day's color tags. That shows this store has some real scumbag managerial practices. And management can save their cutesy, cookie cutter, PR reply to this review. They already know they're screwing over their customer base for the sake of profit, but they clearly don't care. This Red, White & Blue Thrift Store is massive. I have also recently been to the Waterbury, Connecticut location and it might even be bigger. I personally feel a bit claustrophobic with so much stuff everywhere. As with most thrift stores, you would have to spend some time searching to find something worth your time. The clothes and shoes are categorized by type and color. Most appear to be in pretty good shape. However, the prices are higher. They do have color coded sales, I'm not sure if they change daily or weekly. I found a purse I actually wanted to get a few years ago from Nordstrom, in excellent shape and for a fraction of what I would have paid originally. This store is cash only. They also have some finer shoes, jewelry and leather goods behind the counter. If you have the patience or the time you might find something worthy at Red, White & Blue. read more

Giant selection organized by category and color. There's a huge array of kid items and clothing in great condition as well as housewares. They don't have fitting rooms and only take cash but bargains abound. read more

They have better prices than the West Bank location, but the aisles are tight. Cash only. I forget to bring cash when I go there. They will make money off of your ATM withdrawal conveniently at the front door. I have found a lot of nice items there. read more

At 7:30 the staff says they're closed and you have to stop shopping. So don't go there at 7:20 thinking you have time to shop because they're open til 8. Functionally they close at 7:30, but you will still be there til 8 because that's how long the line is. read more

I live about an hour away & decided to check this out, even with mixed reviews....I was not prepared for how HUGE this place is. The prices may seem high at first for designer items HOWEVER-for the condition & brand of some of these, it is worth the price to me-I mean, a pair of designer shoes in nearly new condition for $25 is good in my book. I was beyond delighted to get to the register and find out that certain tags were 50% off-making them $12.50! We were there over 3 hours & I am glad I thought about wearing a tank under my shirt so I could try clothes on-I saw lots of people doing the same thing. All in all, it was worth the drive and I will be back. read more

Cash only thrift store just outside of New Orleans. Great for pickers. Huge store with plenty to choose from. I spent around two hours inside and got a pretty nice haul. Definitely some good items for sale and at very reasonable prices. It just so happened that I showed up on a 50% Off day! Keep an eye out for these great sales. ATMs are available just inside the building to the right as you enter. 4 Stars for sure! I would have given the place a five star review if they served draft beer to drink while I shopped. read more

I used to love this place, the selection of items is great. I always find the best thrift finds here. HOWEVER, the recent price increases are actually ridiculous. $40 for a coach purse that's falling apart and has a stain on it is unacceptable. $35 for a fake Louis V is unacceptable. While I may have the money to afford these items, at the end of the day, you are still a thrift store. You got these items for free, you do not need to mark up the prices so high. There are people who shop here who can't afford these products now because they've been marked up so high. Well what's not to love about this smorgasbord of ALL THINGS INEXPENSIVE. Located in the warehouse district in Elmwood/Harahan Louisiana; this thrift store is the mother of all things thrift. Several times going here & I'VE NEVER BEEN DISAPPOINTED. 4 Stars instead of 5 for 2 reasons & 2 reasons alone... No fitting room & non-acceptance of credit cards. I just know if folks had the ability to swipe their cards, they would, myself included, purchase more. I mean who cares cash now-a-days??? I'll wait... ok... still waiting... just as I thought, NO ONE, unless you're coming here. But ANYWHO... This place is all things fab because of the variety & plethora of items available for purchase. Paintings, toys, musical equipment, home furnishings, baby items, shoes, clothing, kitchenware, purses, backpacks, luggage & the list goes on and on. Friendly staff are there to assist as needed. And how amazing is the one lady at the register that passes out suckers/lollipops to the kids... amazingly amazing!!!!! Additionally, the staff always seem to be replenishing the stock; I mean where is all this stuff coming from??? ehhhhh IDK & IDC, just bring in the goodies. Last time I shopped there was an additional 50% being taken off all tickets except the red ones... so starts the hunt for non-red tickets, right??? They have a large selection of every category: shoes in most colors, purses, clothing, household goods and toys and they have employees putting out more items while they are open. The set up is easy to browse. They offer discounts of 25%-75% on multiple tag colors but each time I've went which is twice red tags have not been on sale and most of the items I bought had red tags. This location was only taking cash but maybe it changed as I went to the other location about a week later and they had a sign saying they now accepted cards. read more

love the selection of thrifts & if they would fix the customer service, it would be amazing. they're always so rude. there was this lady and i wish i would've seen her name, but honestly, if she acts like this all the time, you'll know who it is. this was on dec12 at 7:45pm. she had such a nasty face on, and mind you, there were many other people around so it wasn't just us she was treating like this. i don't know. if you hate your job so much, quit. we all don't want to be at our jobs, but have some decency and at least act like you like it. my husband was just trying to buy some toys for my daughter, they were TWO DOLLARS. wasn't able to let him get them for her because SHE (the two year old) got to the bag and opened it. i get the policy man, but like damn. the lady that was next to her was kind enough to tell her to let us purchase it ..it was just the way she handled everything. she straight up hit us with "you can't buy this" no hello, nothing. just a dry monotoned statement with no explanation. and then rudely just points to where the sign is. i won't be coming back, you're things are not worth mistreatment. and again, this was just over some toys for my 2yr old daughter. read more

Oh man. Now THIS is a thrift store! After raving about the Westbank Red, White and Blue store, I was determined to check out the original the next time I found myself in Harahan. The day finally came and WHOA- this place makes the Westbank store look like a little baby thrift store. This store is huge and packed from wall to wall with all types of goodies. They are two aisles of dresses! Electronics as far as they eye can see! There were two big working telescopes for sale. Dolls! Books! Knick knacks! House wares! Cool! I knew that this place was big, but I had no idea what I was getting into. I couldn't even shop in all of the sections I wanted to shop in because there was just too much to sort through. I did score a really pretty dress for $10, so I was pretty pleased with that purchase. Bonus points: there was a long line, but the checkout people got us all through really quickly. This place was awesome and I can't wait to come back. I might have to start making a monthly pilgrimage out to this spot. read more

I've been to the store several times. I can't think of any time where I've had nothing but a positive experience. The people are great, the standard announcement over the intercom, no matter how many times you hear it, is entertaining. I've been there several times, but the last time was to pick up a few non-electric games just before the hurricane comes in. You can't beat Jenga for a dollar. Or an art set for a dollar. Sometimes the line is very long, but it goes very fast. They only take cash, which in my opinion is a good thing. Because I could buy the whole store. I have absolutely no complaints about this place. I intend to continue shopping there. read more

Wow. This was my first time in this thrift store since they moved from the strip mall across the street. Their space has doubled; it's HUGE. The clothes are sorted by gender and then by color (which is a little weird but works). Today there were men trying on dresses for the Buddy D dress parade happening tomorrow in honor of the Saints in the superbowl so that was pretty entertaining. The store was so crowded that I actually wasn't too successful, but perhaps another time without the pushy grandmas & screaming babies. read more

I had to make a quick stop and I shouldn't have stopped in 30 minutes before close, but I didn't think the employees would be so incredibly rude. I would have expected to be approached kindly and told to leave the store/get inline rather that having someone CLAP THEIR HANDS AT ME like I was a dog. Your staff shouldn't be yelling and customers or hitting the displays to try to get my attention and I have found this to be incredibly disrespectful. I may look young be I have worked in customer service long enough to understand when someone isn't being treated fairly. read more

Best thrift store on the east bank, in my humble opinion. Huge selection, color coordinated clothing, lots of things (non-clothing items), there is always something half-priced unless you go on Wednesday and are over 55. It's Senior day. (And, no, thank you silly cashier, I ain't trying to pass for old, It's my dang day off!!) Went last week and saw tons of designer labels and walked out with the cutest pair of boots that had never been worn!! AND, they were half priced..only $5!!! LOVE THAT!! Great place to find unexpected treasure! They have a bit of everything. Books, clothing, toys, housewares, Knick knacks and everything in between. Pricing is sometimes a bit high but everyday they have some tags marked half off. So just look for the same tags and you got yourself a good bargain! If you're looking for furniture, don't forget to stop on the drop off room outside where they keep most of the larger pieces. I went today for the first time because I heard from folks around town that this thrift store was the best! Omg ! It is the best! A few of the associates that I interacted with were extremely nice to me . The lady on the intercom needs to speak clearly because it was a little muffled. If you going to be so strict with the tickets having to stay on the garments that you purchase . Then you need to be strict with the customers coming in with no masks then no entry! I seen a few today that were not asked to leave. I made a mistake today ! The cashier was rude and so was the manager! No worries. They could have been a little nicer. I love thrift store store shopping. I go to this thrift store when I'm in need of clothes for my sons or myself before shopping at a department store. I went here yesterday because we are going on a cruise and I really scored on clothing items for my boys and only spent $26. This store is very large so you have a great selection. Sometimes I find their prices a little high but yesterday the prices were very reasonable. When I'm shopping for myself, I wish that this store had fitting rooms. read more

The biggest and busiest thrift store in New Orleans and I suspect in the entire state. I believe this is a FOR PROFIT thrift store so don't go getting a warm and fuzzy feeling for donating anything to them as it helps no charity. It amazes me that I rarely find anything on sale here yet they constantly change the sale color tags. I just don't understand it. This place really deserves two stars but I tacked on an extra star for the huuuuge selection. But anyway, hold on to your wallets here and try not to get robbed. When I go to a thrift store I expect to pay thrift store prices but many of the prices here are OUT OF CONTROL. Used shoes for 25 bucks?? Give me a break! I can buy a brand new pair or two, when you catch a BOGO sale at Payless, for the same price. I found one Sperry shoe that retails for about 75 bucks here for $14.99. I paid A TOTAL of $3.45 for the same EXACT shoe a few days earlier at the Goodwill on Tulane. The children's shirts I looked at were $4. Come on now! GIVE ME A BREAK! EVERY thrift store I have EVER gone to normally price children's clothing at 1.95 tops. Other than that, if you keep your wits about you there are plenty of cheap finds here. I just prefer to go to a place that doesn't insult my intelligence. Also, the cashier said that many items are half price on Saturdays so its best you go then. Like others have said bring cash. Don't rely on their ATM. (When I went it was broken and I had to drive 15 minutes away to a Rite Aid to get some cash back.) read more

I'm taking off a star for being a CASH ONLY establishment and another for being pretty pricey on alot of stuff. It's not uncommon for shoes to be $29.99 or ties to be $12.99. It requires some time and patience, but you will find some awesome deals here. My latest finds were 6 never-worn Nike tennis skirts - even at their full-price, it was less than what I would have paid for one of them at regular stores. I've found a few great dresses and skirts, but it is hard to find ones that are not polyester or rayon. I have better luck with tops and button-ups. They also have slips and tanks and scrubs. I have never looked at their pants - not because they're bad but I'm just not interested in pants or jeans. And there are lots of fancy ball gowns, perfect for Mardi Gras costumes. They have nice bead necklaces. Found a couple of bags, but always look on the inside in case it's gross for one reason or another. I do like how it's organized by color since it makes it easier to look based on what I already own. When you go, wear thin fabrics so you can try stuff on over your clothes. And bring more cash than you think you'll need. I'm always surprised by how much money I spend there, but then I look at the two white garbage bags of clothes on the counter and it suddenly makes sense. Tip: don't go on Wednesdays unless you are a senior citizen. There are no 50% off on certain colored tags on Wednesdays, just for senior citizens. All in all, totally worth the drive and the effort. This store probably has the best selection of "pre-owned" merchandise of all the thrift stores in the NOLA area. I live on the Westbank, but I prefer this location over the one in Marrero. With a 1 year old toddler, I have mostly given up on buying her brand new clothes every 2-3 months. Red, White, and Blue saves me a TON of money. They have absolutely adorable baby/kids clothes. My only complaint is that the clothes aren't sorted by size. This seems like the logical way to do it. Yes, if I'm looking for a lime green t-shirt, it will be easy to find since they're sorted by color... but if it doesn't fit, I'm not going to buy it. I'd much rather look through the clothes that will fit, and see if something jumps out at me. Then again, maybe this is a good thing since it keeps me from bothering to even look through the adult clothes... I mainly stick to baby/kids clothes and the random household items. read more
