I needed some solitude, peace and quiet. The moment I arrived at the house, my shoulders immediately relaxed and there was an immediate release of tension. Every aspect of the home whispered peace. I don't know how to explain it but it even smelled peaceful. Delana was the most amazing host. She surprised me with snacks and anything j could need for my stay was readily available. She even personalized items for my special needs. She gave me a tour of the property, including the beautiful pregnant cows. She gave me space when I needed it but let me be as involved as I wanted to be. I had the MOST incredible experience with the horses. She guided me through an exercise in which I felt healing in my spirit and connected on an energy level with the horses. It was the most remarkable experience and I took away so much from it that I can apply to my daily life. I could not recommend staying in this space that feels like a world away from the hectors of everyday life but is just a very short drive away! I am already planning my next stay!

Trying Bar 3 Ranch meat had been on our family's bucket list for years, and finally, this past…read moreOctober, we managed to snag a half cow for this spring. When our date got closer, Jeff sent over the final weight for our share, and it caught me off guard because it was so much bigger than the past shares we've gotten through other local farms. As it turns out, there's a reason. When we picked up our meat, we found Jeff excited to share how he raises and feeds his cows and why, ultimately, his meat is far superior. (He didn't say as much, but as you can see by the photo, it's incredibly clear that there's no comparison.) We learned more about the care and feeding of cows that afternoon than we thought possible but we loved every minute. He was also great with our kids, taking them to see and pet his horses. Afterwards, he even called me to share his favorite recipe for flanken ribs. But how does it TASTE, you ask? As a reformed 25+ year vegetarian, I can't stand the smell of most grassfed beef that has come into this house. (We've done multiple cow shares before through other ranches, all the same - the smell is nauseating.) Bar 3 Ranch, though... totally different. There is NO gamey smell, no gamey taste and my husband gives me the side eye now because he has to share his steaks with me. It's GOOD. Like, REALLY GOOD. Words are probably not going to do this justice, so I'm attaching a photo of the difference between Jeff's meat and our last half cow from another/local ranch. There is just no comparison.

I was looking to surprise my wife with her first horse back riding experience. Tried searching for…read moreevery place near me, leaving voice-mail after voice-mail, but couldn't get through to anyone until... until I managed to locate Iron Horse Guest Ranch. Nestled in close to the Renaissance Fair and downtown Magnolia, this was the perfect place; close to our home. Setting up the appointment for a lesson was quick and painless; used facebook messenger to work out the best time. Prices varied, depending on the type of lesson, were very reasonable, and all proceeds went back to the horses on the ranch. I would quickly learn that everyone is a volunteer, as this home is for horses rescued & rehabilitated from someone the harshest circumstances. We arrived to meet with Niki, owner and operator. She was an amazing guide and teacher. She and her son helped explain everything to my wife and I prior to mounting our amazing rides; Gunner & Hershey. They were both very patient with our questions, taking safety very important. Best part of the experience was enjoying the ride without having to take any photos. Niki did all of this for us without having to worry, and sent us all of the amazing pics after the ride. All and all, the hour or two we spent here was very special and we will soon not forget it. Highly recommend a visit if in town for a visit, or even living close by. Helping these amazing animals was the best thing ever!

We purchased the pass for their Eclipse Special Event. This was supposed to include access to…read moretheir private animal part, "award winning BBQ, listen to live music, spend the day fishing, take a tour on an ATV, participate in friendly skeet shooting competition, and feed exotic, animals". I talked to the ranch manger the day before the event, and she said they would be opening at 11:00 on the day of the eclipse. We arrived at about 12:00 and called from the locked gate and got the foreman who told us he was on a hunt and someone would call us back. We waited at the gate and didn't see or hear any activities in the park, cars parked around and anyone for that matter. We finally left and got half way back to town when I got a return call, and she said we could come back for lunch. That is not what we paid for so I asked for refund and she said it would be issued in 3 to 4 weeks. I called her today 4 weeks later, and she was adamant I had called 5 times that day and was uncooperative. She obviously had me mixed up with some one else and I tried to tell my side but finally told her I didn't want to argue any further with her since she was so belligerent. I told her to just keep our money. Incredibly poor customer service and forget getting any refund for services not provided.
