I've been wearing Red Wing Boots for years and I think that they make a very good product. They have a comfort guarantee on their boots and shoes and this is where I've run into problems, especially at this store. I've returned shoes over the years -- mostly unworn -- but have returned a couple of pairs that I had worn outside because they were uncomfortable and they offered me an exchange. What I found is that they would give me defective shoes or factory seconds instead of giving me first quality goods. One pair had noticeable defects in the sole and uppers and another pair had defects in the sole that looked like someone tried a repair. In another instance, Valerie ordered a pair of 963's for me -- a boot I have been wearing for years in a size 11 -- and they didn't fit right and I could tell by looking at the uppers that there was something wrong with them. All I want is honesty and to be treated fairly. If they don't want to exchange a pair of boots under their comfort guarantee, I'd prefer they just said that and I'd just buy another pair. But don't tell me "no problem ", and then give me defective goods or a pair of boots that came off their training line. BUYER BEWARE! read more

My husband and I went into the store fairly early. My husband has been getting his work boots at that location for years. The 2 employees behind the counter today, were very unhelpful, and unmotivated. They acted like they were been bothered, as we needed some assistance, as the boots my husband usually gets were discontinued. We were looking for something similar. It just seemed like it was just to much for them to assist us. Will not be shopping at that location any longer. I could see if they were busy... we were the only customers in the store. read more

They're selection of composite boots is very limited...they had 3 pairs to choose from prices were ranged from $96, $130 & $198. It takes a while for the boots for break it but once you do they are awesome!! Insoles ranged from $15-$25. read more

I have bought my shoes from this location for the past several years. Today was different, there was another customer the only sales woman was waiting on. As I was waiting she asked me if I had any questions, I said I need a pair of shoes. She snapped back with " i asked if you have any questions" I should have walked out at that moment, but i waited. When she was free to "help" me she started straighting up displays. I asked if she had my shoes in my size she said no. Just felt like she didn't want to help me. Do not come to this Red Wing Shoes San Leandro. Their working boots are great but their customer service is the worse!! I went to this shoes to exchange my working boots (that was new and never wear) for a half bigger size within the exchange timeframe (purchased for a week) with my receipt, and this lady called Maria was giving me a hard time. She measured my feet and said the size that I had should fit me perfectly... NO it's doesn't!! I know my feet and my toes were tangling together, very uncomfortable! She wouldn't let me exchange my shoes even the store does have the half size up that I want, that's ridiculous! This store does not follow their company's return/exchange policy!! I went to this store and was looking to buy some new boots. The clerk working (Valerie) seemed to not want to help me very much, possibly because I dress in old clothes so as to not get robbed. My boots were not in stock so I ordered them. I picked em up 2 weeks later and proceeded to put 20 walking miles on them in about a week and a half. I returned to the store to see if I could get a wider size as they were not fitting correctly. "The clerk told me "why did you order them then?" I left them there so she could "stretch" them. The 30 day road test DOES NOT STOP OR START OVER AND THE "STRETCHING" PERIOD COUNTS AS PART OF THAT 30 DAY PERIOD. WHEN YOU PAY 200+ DOLLARS FOR SHOES THE SHOULD FIT AND BE COMFORTABLE! So the name of the salesperson that you DONTwant helping you is Valerie! When I went in for a refund she told me that she didn't have enough $ to do the refund. Later in the day I went back for my cash and Valerie tried to cheat me out of 10 bucks as she refunded me in 50+ $1 bills, and the rest in $5 & $10 dollar bills! THE OTHER STAFF THAT I ENCOUNTERED AT THIS LOCATION WERE FRIENDLY, HELPFUL, AND COURTEOUS! I WOULD SHOP HERE AGAIN BUT NOT IF I HAVE VALERIE HELPING ME! read more

I can't even put one star! I'm sad to say this place looks like they have great shoes, but the most horrible un-welcoming customer service. They're was no greeting first and for most, no acknowledging what so ever and just all around bad energy. I think a place of business that has been around for so many years and charges hight costs for their product would at least have a friendly greeting when you walk in. My man was looking for some good work shoes and didn't want to purchase them here because he was just disappointed with the customer service. We both are normally really patient people but we just had to leave because the energy was just bad. I even felt sad for other customers that walked in because they to weren't being acknowledged! I wanted to act like I worked there and just let the people know don't worry she will be right with you. They say that one of the things in life that one should never go cheap on is footwear. I agree. My experience today at Red Wing left me very satisfied. There was only one clerk present, a pleasant and helpful young lady by the name of Maria. She was busy helping another customer when I walked in. Since he was the only one and she was finishing up with him, I chose to wait. About 10 minutes later, I told her my situation (I'm constantly on my feet at work) and asked to see a pair of a certain shoe in my size. She quickly brought out the shoes and helped me try them on. They felt a little loose and my previous pair of shoes offered no shock absorption, which gave me a nasty case of Achilles tendinitis. I was wearing some pretty thin athletic socks at the time, which explained the loose fit, so I asked if there was any type of orthotic insole that could offer support and shock absorption. She quickly produced two insoles and I tried both shoes on, one with the insole and one without, to compare. The difference was night and day! I was sold. I admit, I spent a bit more than I had originally planned, but I have faith that my feet will thank me tomorrow at work when I am walking around. I've turned to Red Wing in the past for high-quality industrial footwear. They didn't disappoint then and didn't disappoint now. read more

Good inventory,knowledgeable salesperson, fast efficient service. Note: This is not really an average shoe store. Red Wing boots can be expensive and require some break-in time, as do all heavy leather boots. I suspect most shoppers know what they want when they shop here. read more
