It's a great community here, very well known, the type of business to sponsor a local sports team not out of a potential form of advertising, but with a love for the community. When you walk in on your first day, they're very welcoming and open hearted, and also the deeper you dive into the community, the better it gets. I've realistically had one of the more unique experiences at Centerpoint being older then most, but the thing is, no matter who you are, they'll always treat you the same. This also goes for any accommodations. About some of classes (And what happens there): (Ages may vary) Ages 5 and under - Excellent kids: This class teaches kids to be their best self, and helps them be quite healthy and even such a young age Ages 5-16 - Kids karate: This is definitely one of the more popular programs, while at first only teaching the fundamentals of Karate, classes get more difficult and a slow and do-able rate. Teaches kids good morals and keeps them fit. Requirements may vary - Sparring: Teaches students (who have a bit of experience), how to fight in some more realistic scenario. This is done with pads on to insure that people don't get hurt, and is good if you're trying to break a sweat. (For info on other classes, check their website, they probably have much better descriptions then I do) Overall, I've been going here since December 2018, and I'd totally recommend it if you're looking for not just somewhere to workout, but somewhere to learn and enjoy yourself.

Since then, I hadn't taken any classes until a friend told me about Centerpoint. In the classes that I have taken in the past, it has always been kickboxing in the air. However, at Centerpoint, they have stationary punching bags to punch and kick, which added a unique, but tough experience. The space is nicely laid out with cubbies to keep your stuff in, and then a padded floor area to do the kickboxing. The instructor made it a point to introduce herself to me, and she was a phenomenal instructor. If you get the chance to take a class with Esther, I would strongly suggest it, as she was supportive, but also kept the class challenging and fun. Throughout class, there was plenty of opportunity for cardio with a warm-up, a punching rotation, a kicking rotation, a section for upper body and abs, and then a cool down. The 45 minute class went by quickly, but boy, did I sweat! At Centerpoint, your first class is free, so it's definitely worth giving it a shot. After that, they have unlimited monthly memberships for $150 a month, or you can by 10 classes for $100. Their drop-in fee is $17. I definitely plan on coming here more to mix up my workout routine!

(I had previously taken superior but less expensive courses elsewhere.) There were about a dozen people in the class, and the instructor first of all did almost nothing to build a sense of connection among us, so there was a certain awkward tension to the meetings. He also gave us very little background or theory on what we were learning, and yet it was also often difficult to relax while we were practicing because the teacher kept chattering about things that didn't need to be explained. Most of the class time was wasted either practicing very simple exercises that could have been done at home for free, or trying to copy complicated movements which weren't demonstrated clearly. Most of the people in the class did not seem to be picking up the forms confidently at all; this was most apparent when we broke into groups to practice several sessions in, and no one in my group knew the sequence of movements that we were supposed to be doing. When it came time for a refund, my money was very slow to be returned, and even though I only took half the classes (and they stunk), I only got about a third of my money back. Would you believe that the instructor then had the nerve to ask me to take more courses? Full Circle has its fans, but I definitely wasn't pleased and would recommend going elsewhere. I had really been looking forward to expanding my knowledge of t'ai chi, but this turned out to be an insulting waste of money and time. UPDATE 3/28/12: I finally got the last part of my money back, but it took three phone calls and possibly this review to get it.

Pasha stands out. She turns the old stories upside down. I never thought I would work with a personal trainer. But Pasha is different...and I decided I'm worth the investment to meet my wellness goals as an entrepreneur and mother in my mid-40s! I came to Pasha with some injuries (shoulder issues and SI Joint Dysfunction) and a desire to get stronger and to find relief from chronic stress. I was feeling frustrated because although I live a pretty active life, I have not been able to stick to a strength training routine at home. I don't have time to drive the 30 minutes to the gym (and do not enjoy myself in these settings). Pasha worked with me one-on-one to develop a sensible, fun, and customized program that I could stick to in the comfort of my own HOME . She is incredibly encouraging, highly intuitive, and wise. I feel so nurtured and supported in her presence. She has helped me see just how active I already am, and has helped me celebrate in a new way. Rather than beating myself up about what I'm NOT doing, I'm focusing on what I AM doing. This mindset shift has allowed me to look forward to my exercises, and I naturally want to keep going and see how strong I can get. I've had sessions in the studio, but also a Zoom video session where I felt like she was right in my home with me! The whole session was recorded too. Amazing! So during those times that I can't drive to the studio, I can Zoom with Pasha and stay on track. I highly recommend working with Pasha.
