We opted to take our family to Redlands Ramen for hanging out and getting yummy eats after a long afternoon attending our daughter's commencement at Loma Linda. To ensure our party could be accommodated, before the event my husband and I drove to the restaurant to make a reservation. He spoke specifically with Edgar who promised he would be there and will be ready to and waiting for our party of 12 people ready that evening. We arrived with our famished group, only to find out that Edgar was not there, nor did he communicate anything to his team about us! Isabel did her best, and though they worked hard the kitchen was clearly unprepared to feed our group size in a timely manner. There were issues of all sorts: the tables were not arranged or cleaned, the soup was lukewarm for several orders. My husband's order was hastily prepared; no cutlery appropriate for slicing the premium pork so guests struggled biting into it. It was nice being seated outdoors but as the time passed it started becoming chilly and it would've been nice to hang out longer had there been heaters for the comfort of guests. The food was great but it would've been enjoyed more if the soup was not lukewarm. The most disappointing part which dampened our experience and left much to be desired was Edgar's failure to communicate the reservation to the team. This is pretty solid ramen. I have no complaints on the taste just wish it was served hotter. I ordered the vegan broth with yellow noodles and tofu with corn and egg add-ons. I wish they offered a creamy vegan broth, but the vegan ramen is pretty enjoyable. Service was alright, there was just one guy working the entire lobby so I understood the wait time. This place has an open kitchen with a seating bar attached and an opening in the middle where you can pick up your order. Oddly, they did not provide me with a number or a receipt or even yelled out the order when it was ready, so I just had to keep checking. So read this and know, Redlands Ramen earned only 1 star and I write this so you might pay attention to this review. On entry this early Wednesday afternoon, we were told to sit anywhere and the handed a set of very tattered and sticky laminated menus. Further, the two house ramen bowls did not even mention the price (waiter, when asked, noted $25 and $22). As a first impression, not good. Walking to a place to sit, I noted the primary bar back decorations were empty beer bottles, and some looked like they had been there awhile. Not a good impression. Next I noted the filthy area near the back where a white door was only partly white from the knob up, and filthy dirty from the knob to the floor. This area housed a soda fountain apparently. Filth, not a good impression. The place smelled of disenfectant, but it did not look like it was used much. Not a good impression. The restroom was locked and in the hour we were there, nobody came out. Clearly, staff was limiting access. The female waiter that came after we arrived clearly saw I wanted to use the facility, but ignored me. I'm not going to ask a waitstaffer if I can use the restroom. Not a good impression. We reluctantly decided to stay, and waited abour 20 minutes for three bowls of ramen to arrive. That seems looooong given only three other tables with customers at the time, two of which had already ordered or were eating when we arrived. The ramen was ok, but their spice scale is off from the competition. If you decide to go, you might want to consider ordering one level down from your normal ramen heat level. The spoons at the table are cheap plastic spoons with very sharp edges. Jeeze, how much would it take to get washable asian soup spoons? Lastly, no check ever came. We ended up walking towards the door and the waitress perked up and checked us out. While checking out, I noted a sign about a couple dollar surcharge on dishes with eggs...not sure if we got hit with that hidden upcharge or not, but it should have been posted on the door just like the "No cash accepted" sign on the door. Not a good look for customers that prefer to pay in cash. The lunch tab for three was nearly $90, which might be ok for a 5 star eatery, but not at this place. So two stars is waaaay generous and, as explained, is intended to get others to take this review seriously. read more

I had higher hopes for a local Redlands business that seems to be popular in the area. I ordered the pork tonkatsu ramen with corn topping i didn't order anymore toppings as the pricing was on the higher side. I ended up receiving my ramen with the corn and an added egg anyway which i did not mind the extra topping but the egg itself seemed a bit dried out/not as fresh or soft. The pork chasu was cooked way too long for my liking, I've had excellent chasu that is soft and breaks apart in your mouth, this chasu was more chewy, and fried up. It reminded me of chicharron (fried pork dish) This may be a stylistic choice but i'm not a fan of its execution personally The servers were diligent as busy as it is but I'd have to stick to other ramen spots such as Ramen Koko. This restaurant seems to be more crowded as far as spacing goes and bar focused, still might be a good spot to take a date for a drink. The murals were amazing as well :) 3.5/5 read more

Broth was absolutely amazing and didn't disappoint - which, imo, is THE most important thing in Japanese ramen. Besides the ramen itself. And the egg perfectly soft boiled. And besides the thin, delicious pork chashu. You get the idea. Anyways, fantastic ramen and definitely coming again. Yes, it's pricey - but beats eating cheap, knock-off Japanese ramen. And for the price being a few dollars more expensive than its competitor, Kaz Ramen (won't be surprised if they're somehow related.. good way or bad), rather stay local and not wait for a few hours! Found this place on Yelp. I was looking for nearby spot to take my boyfriend and get a quick bite to eat. We loved it! Delicious and it was everything you'd expect from a typical ramen restaurant. One downfall was that the soda machine had a lot to offer but only the coke fountain worked. Also, flat water was available but to my dismay, no ice tea. The murals aligning the walls was interesting and had a cool vibe. Music was on point. If you're looking for a place that has elevator music or pop hits, this may not be your place. I know ramen shops don't tend to vary too much as is, but yeah the menus are literally exactly the same except this place is new and some options aren't available yet. The direction of interior design of this place is pretty the same as the other places I've mentioned. Hip, trendy, meme-type art. Since the menu is the same, the ramen is also overpriced for the quality. It's okay ramen, pretty typical but I've had better for cheaper. The service fine, the food came out fast actually. A lot faster than expected, but I'm not sure if that speaks well of the quality if it came out so fast. There's no seated dining either outside or inside yet. At least this location is in a nicer area than the Grand Terrace location. I'm just a bit disillusioned that this was just another of the same place with a different name.
