This place is still awesome. We're still going here. I love the people that run the place, and everything comes out fresh. Even if you order it to go, they still make it fresh. Great prices and a great restaurant. It really feels like our sushi spot.

Looking from the outside, you would never guess that super sushi is a high-quality, family run business, but that's exactly what it is. The owner is super friendly and all the staff our family members. They use high-quality ingredients to give the customer the best experience possible. And they're very transparent with the quality of their ingredients. We asked the waiter what he recommended and he told us the ichiban, Seattle's best, and the dragon roll. The first two rolls were amazingly fresh and so good. I didn't even need soy sauce to complement the roll. The decor inside feels very authentic Japanese. The service was super friendly and very quick. I will definitely be back for a date night.

This is a small, neighborhood sushi restaurant. It's conveniently located at the corner of the intersection and has plenty of parking. On this particular weekday dinner hour, there were very few customers and the service was very quick and attentive. The menu is straight-forward, see my menu pic. We started with their egg rolls. As you can see in my pic, there are 5 and their dipping sauce. The dipping sauce was mildly sweet and had a somewhat cool temperature. The cool temp complimented the hot freshly deep fried egg rolls. As you can see, the rolls were very consistently made. There was a fair amount of wrappings to the amount of inside veggies. These rolls were mildly flavored and so the ginger, wasabi and dipping sauce enhanced the flavor greatly. We shared their Super Sushi roll. This roll had a good combination of tempura and raw components. The prominent item was the Spicy Tuna. While there was a kick, it didn't overpower the eel or other items. The dark sweetened drizzle was a good contrast to the Spicy Tuna. We particularly liked that the roll was cut into thinner slices than usual thicker cuts. This made eat bite an appropriate size.

I sensed something exciting was going to happen -- but relying entirely on word of mouth. Flash-forward to early 2026, where readers of the local weekly paper named this the Best Sushi of Redlands. I was so excited, and as my visit last week demonstrates -- things have only improved. KYO SUSHI was packed at 5PM on a Tuesday. Not only slammed, but standing room only. I don't know what happened but I'm so happy for them. Two subtle changes have happened and I'm all for them. A LOCAL NEWS channel sharing dreadful stories on the TV has been swapped for hi-def reels of lovely Asian spots, making our escape from the crazy world we live in complete. As an extra touch, we are now treated to soothing jazz, which helps in a room with so many happy customers. A special shout out to Sia, who greets regulars like family and will help you get exactly what you need. Hi to Wendy and the new young lady, all keeping a close eye on customer happiness. I believe KYO is on the brink of having outgrown this location, but a lease is likely keeping them there for a while. It's a shame they can't move next door into the old Von's location -- lol -- because what a place that would be. Enough room in their to farm the fish. Pro Tip -- try the Megan Fox roll!

Kyo Sushi was okay. I may have gone in with higher expectations because of the 4.7 rating on Yelp,…read morebut overall it felt a little overhyped. The roll presentation was very good, and visually the food looked great. The plates came out clean, colorful, and nicely arranged. Flavor-wise though, the rolls were fairly bland. The house mayo tasted like regular mayo, which isn't necessarily bad, but I guess I was expecting something with a little more going on, maybe closer to a spicy mayo or some kind of signature sauce. We also ordered a Philly roll, but were brought the Philly "Pro" instead. The Pro is deep fried, which I wasn't expecting, and I took a bite without realizing how hot it was and almost burned my mouth. I did mention that "Philly roll" and "Philly Pro" are close enough in name that I could see wrong orders happening pretty easily. Service was direct and decent. Nothing bad, just more to-the-point than warm or memorable. I'd probably give this place another shot, because it seemed like we may have gotten caught in a rush all at once. Not terrible by any means, and the presentation was definitely a strong point, but it wasn't quite the standout experience I was expecting.

I am a public worker so when I'm out I don't always like wait staff that is too intrusive. In my experience the severs here help, bring extra water and don't bug you or ignore you. The atmosphere has been great the few times I have gone. My last visit they had a World Cup game on 2 of their large tvs. The TVs were easily viewable from my spot in the restaurant so if I chose to watch the game while eating I could do so easily. While it may not be for everyone I try to frequent this location at least once a month, I plan on heading there again after 4th of July.

So, of course, I look on Yelp and came across Nko Niko sushi, which is regarded as one of the best sushi spots in Redlands. I actually went as far as double checking on reddit and the votes were definitely in! This place seemed legit so I had to try it. It's located in a shopping plaza so there is plenty of parking. There are several restaurants in the area, while Niko Niko is tucked away near the water fountains out front. As I arrived, they quickly sat me at the bar area and my typical rainbow roll and I tried their snow cone roll. The rolls were so good and the fish was fresh! I loved the sweet sauce that was added to the snow cone roll. After about 20 mins, the chef, who's name is Yaser, started asking me what my favorite fish is and why I like it. I told him Albacore and he instantly makes me some concoction with ponzu sauce which was fire. He then asked me if I like salmon and I told him yes and he makes me a seared salmon roll with orange sauce and pepper. By this time I'm stuffed but enjoying this experience. He made going to a sushi restaurant interesting again like when I first tried sushi. We start talking about Japan and he ask me if I ever had salmon skin. I tell him absolutely not and that when I bake salmon I usually take the skin off. He then tells me that I HAVE to try a salmon skin handroll so I figured I should just go with it. My mind was blown!! I actually like salmon skin lol. It was so good! Overall, I had an amazing experience at Niko Niko and Chef Yaser. I left him a generous tip for the experience and he changed the way I will forever dine at a sushi bar now. If you're in the area, please stop at Niko for some fresh tasty sushi and an excellent sushi experience with sushi chef's that know what they're doing. OOOOO 5 out of 5 Afros

Even my Japanese Nihonjin partner agreed it was very good (and she's a picky Japanese eater!). I liked that it was all fish cuts so I didn't have to sub or ask for sub for seafood I don't eat (bottom-dwellers, scavenger seafood). Shihoko-san had the salmon bento box and it was also very tasty. We went all in and tried the omakase, and while it's definitely on the expensive side, it was worth every penny. The chef hand selects each dish, and every course felt intentional, unique, and honestly like its own experience. The atmosphere is really cool and a little different from your typical sushi spot. You head down a spiral staircase into the restaurant, which sets the tone right away, and there's also an elevator for wheelchair accessibility which is great to see. Once you're inside, it has a thoughtful, intimate feel that fits perfectly with the style of dining. Service was excellent from start to finish, and the fish was incredibly fresh and high quality. The dishes were creative and unlike anything else I've had locally. This is easily a 5 star experience, and there's nothing else around here quite like their omakase. The dine-in location is kinda speakeasy-esque, located down a spiral staircase and behind the sliding door mural. There is also a much more visible touchpad ordering system for orders to-go. Interestingly, the to-go menu is more expansive and includes rolls, whereas dining in does not. The dine-in seating is also all counter seating, wrapped around in a U configuration where you can see the food prepared. My friend ordered tuna sashimi and miso soup while I got scallop and salmon skin cut rolls. For a weekday evening, there was a steady stream of customers stopping by to pick up orders, and a few others dining in. The staff were nice and it was neat seeing everything prepared right in front of us. I also enjoyed seeing the omakase that the couple next to us had ordered. The space feels pretty underground (because it is), with small windows coverings that I think lend to the ambience. It is a bit tricky to find because it appears closed from the outside, so maybe better signage to slide the door open would be helpful. I'd be interested to try the special rolls that are to-go only. They looked amazing as they were being packed!
