The owner, Courtney, is charging full price for the "late" cancelation WITHOUT letting you know! She's simply subtracting a full session from your package and doesn't tell you... I got three sessions ($220+) subtracted from my package without a warning! All three were private sessions canceled due to emergencies with 14+hrs in advance e-mailed notice, and got replies implying that by letting her know I'd be ok. Instead, as I was leaving after workout, Courtney insisted I buy a new package.. This place allows you to do beginner drop-in sessions before you purchase a package. If you feel that you are not as flexible as you thought, then $12 is all you have to sink in. The trainer was very thorough with her instructions and made sure that the people with physical limitations (lower back pains and such) didn't injure themselves. She also didn't try to kill us with crazy pretzel moves, which is always a plus. Pilates is a great way to strengthen, tone, and balance your body. It is also recommended as a supplement to your regular workout. A supplement??? As I exit the center proud of my coordinated breathing and stretching techniques, I'm greeted by the aroma of steaks coming from Beck's. Is it wrong to want to eat an entire piece steak after you have just strengthened your 'power house'? read more

I like Redmond Pilates. That is, I like the RESULTS I get from working out here. I've been taking class once a week for about a month and a half and have really noticed a difference in my midsection and hip/thigh area. That being said, I'm not a fan of a couple of things about this place: The hard upsell to packages. I wanted to try a couple sessions out first and didn't want to buy a big package right up front. The upsell was pretty aggressive, and I had to spend some time explaining my rationale for not wanting a big package, which made me feel uncomfortable and a bit like they thought I was being cheap. It can be tough (and expensive) to find the right instructor for your style. I gave two different instructors a try, and didn't jive with one of them, so that lesson felt like a bit of a waste. It would be great if they offered some sampler classes to get to know some of the instructors. The price. The private lessons (which they make you start with) are over eighty dollars each. Yowzas! They also won't let you move on to the group or semi-private lessons until they feel you have mastered the moves. I had to do a hard sell to get moved up to the semi-private lessons after four privates, and the only way I did was to tell them I straight up couldn't afford the privates, so if they wanted to keep me coming they had to move me to the semi-privates (which are something like $40 a session). But, all in all, I really like the results, which in the end is what I was looking for and what will keep me coming back. read more

Tried them out on the recommendation of a friend who had a good experience with classes taught by the owner. I tried an introductory package with two different teachers and was less impressed. I don't have the dance background that many Pilates teachers/students have, and the teachers were unable to give verbal directions that felt clear enough to help me (as a non-dancer) understand what I was supposed to do. When I asked clarifying questions, one teacher would simply repeat what she originally said instead of rephrasing. If you are new to Pilates, as I was, before investing in one of their very expensive packages, I'd recommend trying a single class to see if you connect with the teacher and enjoy the activities. I decided Pilates wasn't for me, but it's possible that teachers who communicated more effectively could have won me over. read more

i had developed chronic back aches from a compacted disc due to certain sporting activities during 2008. A year later and many sessions with Chiropractors "cracking my joints" I decided to try Pilates for the first time in my life early 2010 After about 10 sessions, and a lot of personal attention from the ladies at Redmond Pilates, the back ache was gone. I don't believe in magic, and so I tried to understand why and how this happened. Reading the theory behind strengthening the core, which should allow the spine to remain in balance, or, (as they say in their speak) in harmony with the rest of the bones seems a fairly good and credible explanation. I will continue with this endeavor, although it might be a months of Sunday's until I can perform some of the more acrobatic postures. I've been going to Redmond Pilates Center for 2 and a half years now. My husband (that's right ladies guy's can do pilates too!) and I decided to try pilates because we have both had some injuries from doing Kung Fu. Plus we both work in IT and sit at a desk 10-12 hours a day. Since I've been going to pilates it's totally changed my life and my body. Pilates has strengthened not just my core, but my entire body. It's changed how I look at exercise. I remember taking classes at the gym or with a trainer and counting down the time until it was over. After 2+ years I still look forward to going every week. If I miss a session I totally feel the difference in my body. The strength and flexibility that I've gained has given me confidence to pursue other activities (that I never thought I could do). This year I ran my first 10k. I got injured training for a half marathon, but I can still do pilates. No matter what injuries I have or how I'm feeling the instructors know how to work around any injury. Pilates has made me see that exercise is the way to maintain my health & weight. Courtney, Mccauley, Lexi, & Joan are wonderful instructors. They are always positive and upbeat which is another reason why I've stayed consistent. They all have different areas that they focus on which has really helped me improve. I decided to write this review because of another review that I saw that wasn't too positive. I've never been given the "hard upsell" for packages. I did 20-30 private lessons myself when I first started because that's what it took for me to really have a good basic handle on all of the moves. Plus once you get to the semi privates if you don't have the basics you can get lost and hold up other students. I love the instructors. I love pilates. I love the consistent results I'm seeing in my body. If you want to see results, and have a good time while you're working towards them this is the place. read more

Two years ago after hurting my back and going through physical therapy, Pilates was recommended to continue to strengthen my body without causing further damage. I am SO lucky I found Redmond Pilates. Courtney, the owner, is classically trained and only hires classically trained instructors (Classical Pilates = the Joe Pilates version). This allows consistent instruction no matter which instructor you get. Each class, whether private or semi-private, is taught with an eye to individual instruction. I am asked at the beginning of a workout how my body feels and the instructor takes this into account during the workout. No matter how you feel at the beginning of class, you will leave feeling FANTASTIC afterward. I have not had any back issues in over a year and have transformed my body. My core and all muscles are stronger and toned. I only wish I had started Pilates in my 20's! read more

Courtney - the owner - is great. I have been going to Redmond Pilates for 6 years. She works hard to find exercises to meet the specific needs of clients. I am a golfer and many golfers end up with back injuries. So, she makes sure I am engaging my stomach muscles (my core) and not using my back or cheating by using my shoulders. And I have figure out her way of encouraging me is to demonstrate how the exercise will help me with my golf game. And admittedly, that works. What I have learned is how to engage specific muscles. For example, when I'm walking I"m not just using the front of my thighs that are already strong, but engaging my butt and inner thighs as well. I think the mind body connection will become even more important as I get older. Each class is different. Sometimes reformer, sometimes floor, or chair, or cadillac. I always leave the class feeling like I accomplished something, even if I can't do the advanced teasers and pull the pedal up, at least I tried and my body feels good. I am just not a self-motivated workout person, so having regularly scheduled sessions is something I need to get myself to they gym and doing the workout. I really like the semi-private sessions where I have partners in the class. That too is motivating, if one of my partners is doing the exercise well, I am motivated to try harder. read more

After seeing my posture and figure deteriorate from years of sitting at a desk, I decided one day to stop the decline. I have always hated going to the gym; the masses running on treadmills and crowds pumping away on cycles was never for me, Boring! I wanted something that I would stick to and that would show me real results. I signed up for an introductory package at Redmond Pilates and have stuck with it for over a year. I have lost 45 pounds with a healthy diet and my regular Pilates workouts. I look forward to my class; it is personal and targeted to my needs and the instructors at Redmond Pilates really take the time to make personal corrections to maximize the benefits of my workout. I love Redmond Pilates! It has made me strong, without bulking up and it has really changed my body by correcting my posture. Pilates lengthens your waist and integrates your movements, adding grace and endurance. I was looking at a People magazine the other day and remarked at what a beautiful figure Anna Pacquin had; then I read she was "addicted" to Pilates. I wasn't surprised, as she had that Pilates look. I really recommend Redmond Pilates to anyone who wants real, noticeable results from their workout. For anyone that wants personalized instruction from knowledgeable, friendly, instructors in an intimate, bright, studio environment, I highly recommend Redmond Pilates. Redmond Pilates Center is an AUTHENTIC Pilates center that teaches REAL Pilates. The studio is very welcoming and the instructors are very knowledgeable. They skillfully work with any body type and any sort of injury (bad knee) or limitation (super stiff). I noticed significant improvements in my flexibility, strength and balance within 5-10 sessions! I love the way my body feels, I have more energy and I now know how to use my core muscles in my everyday life. I love Redmond Pilates Center! I would recommend it to anyone. read more

Chronic lower back pain drove me to try pilates and thankfully I was fortunate to land at Redmond Pilates Center! After a few private lessons I was able to move without pain. Encouraged by the results I soon found myself taking 3 semi-private lessons per week and am loving the changes that I see and feel with my body. The benefits are worth the expense. Living on a teacher's salary the expense had prevented me from taking up pilates, however, I couldn't ignore the pain and now realize my body did me a favor as pilates is the most beneficial exercise I have ever engaged in. I have always been a dedicated hiker, walker and rower. The instructors are fabulous! Through their training and instruction I have a better awareness of how I am using or not using my muscles to support my everyday activities. I have worked with 4 different instructors with confidence knowing that they communicate about clients and have a clear awareness of individual needs. All of the instructors are supportive and encouraging. Courtney, the owner, has created a studio atmosphere that feels like home through her warmth, caring response and genuine interest in her clients. I had a pilates instructor I wasn't too impressed with prior to moving to Redmond. So it took me some convincing that I wanted to do it again, but being an athlete I knew that if done correctly it is one of the best things for your entire body. Like everyone else, I went online and checked out their website. When I saw Courtney doing some of the exercises on some videos online I had to call her, because I could tell she knew what she was doing. I've been completely impressed, I love getting my "gut" kicked by her and the other instructors. She has been so accommodating of my crazy busy schedule dealing with my business and growing family. She invited me to do the beginner 3 session package which made total sense to me, and never once pushed me to buy anything else, but I definitely wanted to take advantage of the value of the packages so I got the 20 session one. I went in because I had just had a baby and wanted to get my abs back to normal, and I've noticed a huge difference right away. Even though I'm not in there as much as I'd like to be, I love going and it's always a great workout! read more
