From my experience last week, it seems that they are overbooking - in terms of scheduling cars for the day and not based on the work that needs to be done on the car and the technician's time. I had an appointment, brought my car in, and only one item - an oil change - out of several items that I asked them to do was completed. They called me and suggested that I make another appointment for another day as my car had already been removed from the lift after the oil change was completed and - as "they have 20 cars a day to look at they would not have time to put my car back on the lift" - in order to repair/complete the rest of the work, as well as order required parts. I agreed to make another appointment and asked to speak to the technician to find out what parts he thought they would need along with an estimate. He was abrasive and informed me that creating an estimate is time-consuming and that I should expect one in a few days. I never got one. I guess that they are busy enough to pick and choose which cars they want to work on. They should work on their schedule to better serve everyone. read more

If I could give them 10 stars I would. I was a walk in after a battery fiasco at autozone and the guy working the front desk and the owner were amazing! Took pity on me and got me in right away and faster than I could have asked for (I was prepared to sit for hours with no complaint because I had no other options) if you can manage to get an opening with them or find yourself in a bind these guys are fantastic and would 100% recommend them. I am happily giving Red Rock Precision Motors 5 stars! Karl is an excellent honest mechanic with integrity. I don't often do Yelp reviews but I really wanted to praise this shop. I'm not a family member or friend and didn't even know about this shop until on a whim I stopped here to get a third opinion on an ongoing problem that two other auto shops had failed to fix. Karl cheerfully looked underneath my vehicle and under the hood. He then showed me what he thought was the problem, explained it and even showed me internet data that showed that my engine type had a history of this part failing. He explained even more. The part had to be ordered. Later he fixed the problem and my vehicle has been working great after I've put over 3000 more miles on it. Very happy with this auto shop! read more

There is a sign inside the office of Redrock Precision Motors that reads, "Excellence is not an option but a requirement." This reflects the experience my family witnessed yesterday. We had the air conditioner go out on a trip that was hours long on a day when the temperatures would top 100 degrees. They were able to work us in promtly and had us on our way in approximately one hour. They topped off fluids, even put air in the tires, and explained what to do if the air conditioner leaked freon again. I had to have all of the wires replaced in my vehicle because I live next to a mountain and the critters love car wiring and making nests. They took the time and made sure everything was running right. Charged me fairly and I felt confident in their work. In returning I had some simple items that needed adjusting which they were kind enough to do free of charge. It's such a relief to find someone who isn't going to charge me to service a unique car that I usually can only get serviced it at the Mercedes dealer in Phoenix. We will continue to come back. I would not recommend taking your Porsche Cayenne here. I had it towed in because they claim to have a Porsche mechanic there. They said they repaired my Porsche and told me it was ready for pick up. When I went to pick it up it was doing the exact same thing that it did when I brought it to them. After two weeks of troubleshooting and I had already paid them $2000 they finally called me and told me they did not know what was wrong with it. I had it towed to Porsche in Scottsdale. The mechanic at Porsche of Scottsdale let me know that all the parts were put in completely wrong. Very upset and disappointed. If you own a Porsche do not bring it to red rock precision read more

I am very surprised at the negativity for Redrock Precision Motors. I personally know the owners and their son Brandon. I have never known them to be anything but polite and efficient. I stay the majority of the time in Long Beach, CA but my parents live in northern Arizona. If at all possible I only take my car to Redrock Precision Motors. They have kept my '99 Toyota on the road that travels hundreds of miles in between the two states. They have also kept my mothers '92 Buick running after over 300,000 miles she has put on the machine. I have had many parts replaced on my vehicle, numerous oil changes, even a serpentine belt changed and if they were bad mechanics I can guarantee my vehicle would have broke down on the I-10 on the way to Long Beach. Those who have had bad experiences I would say talk to the owners son Brandon who is usually there. The owner is Karl and I can say that they will resolve any issues you have. read more

Would give them a 10 if I could! Last week, on a visit to Sedona, my Jaguar lost coolant and the engine overheated. I got it to Redrock Precision Motors where Karl and Brandon looked at it and diagnosed the problem. Although their work schedule was full for the next few days, they made my job a priority. As no rental cars were available, they assisted me in making arrangements for transportation for the time it took to order the parts and make the repairs. Mike, the office manager, handled the insurance claim. Bottom line, I was on my way the next afternoon. Our vacation was saved! What can I say about Carl and Brandon at Redrock Percision Motors! I had a blonde moment today I had engaged the parking break in my 1997 Mercedes and couldn't get it released. My sister is visiting from Alaska and we had driven up from Phoenix for a tour of Sedona and Jerome and I was frantic. I thought our whole day was ruined. I googled auto repair near me and found Percision Motors. Called them and Carl and Brandon came right over and popped the correct latch and released the emergency brake. Imagine my embarrassment. The air leveling system on the front suspension of the Flying Spur ruptured. Arriving in Sedona with 4" of ground clearance, I found Red Rocks Motors on Yelp. From my 7 years in Sedona, I can state that owner-mechanic Karl and his staff are a happy combination of precise, efficient, fair, and friendly. It is a pleasure to work with Mike, the office manger. Mercedes and similar cars are their specialty. As a Mercedes owner for 20 years, I can say that Precision Motors outperforms service given by dealerships. (OK - without free latte and fancy waiting rooms.) Always on time and on budget, with never an oversell of something not needed, the team unfailingly delivers superior work. I took my truck to Red Rock Precision to have the left front rotor replaced. When. Karl inspected my car and said I did not need rotor replaced, but the oil in my rear end differential was low then told me they removed drain pan drained oil and rinsed out differential then replaced oil. Two days after leaving shop my left front wheel was almost falling off so I took it to another shop they replaced the rotor, and my problem was handled. After they finish my rotor I asked if they would change the oil in my differential. When the mechanic took off the differential pan he found that the oil in the pan had not been replaced. It was old and very thick. He said Maybe it was topped off but not drained and replaced. He also could till it had not been serviced because the gasket was old worn, and crushed. Definitely not 2 days old Red Rock Precision Motors charge me $90 just to top off my rear end oil but told me that he had drained rinsed and replaced oil. Which would be the proper thing to do, but he did not, and charged me $90 anyway. When I contacted them to discuss this with karl he sent his son to screen complaint and nothing was done to rectify what they had not done. I contacted them two more times to speak with karl , but he would not come to speak to me in person or on phone . Karl you are not someone that can be trusted I am 100% disabled veteran, and you must need that money more than I do so keep it. People do not like. Service. Veterans anymore, and even though karl has a non-combative veteran right up front to screen complaints Karl would not address my complaint or do anything. read more

****Buyer Beware*****!!!! I typically do not go as far as file a complaint, but the way I was treated and the horrible service that was done to my vehicle I feel that you should know. This company is rude, negligent, lacks customer service, doesn't follow up, unapologetic, and is extremely overpriced. My vehicle broke down over the weekend in Sedona while on vacation and as you know there are no mechanics available until weekdays. I called and left messages at all the mechanics and had numerous companies around the valley offer to service my vehicle on Monday morning. I chose Red Rock Precision Motors because the manager said he could work on my car first thing in the morning. I promptly towed my vehicle to his shop. After arriving I confirmed with the receptionist that my car would be first. To my surprise he told me I had 4 other people in front of me and that I would have to wait. I do understand having to wait my turn, but I was more displeased with the empty promise I received from the manager because I had other mechanics that said they could do it right away. At the very least I was hoping for updates since, Red Rock Precision wasn't able to follow through on their promise. I went back to my hotel and figured I would take the initiative and call to get updates every hour since I didn't hear from Red Rock in quite some time despite they're promise they would get to it first. The first call was pleasant and was told they haven't gotten to it yet; however, the second call I made (2 hours after I dropped it off) I was questioned as to why I was calling and that per my previous call "Red Rock would call me when they get to it". I very displeased with the attitude when I am giving Red Rock my business. After having to check out of our hotel I went down to wait at Red Rock Precision lobby. Upon arrival I immediately felt unwelcome. I asked if there were any new updates on my vehicle. To my surprise, the manager demanded, "if you want to take your car elsewhere feel free". Yet another red flag of the lack of professionalism I received on the same trip. After getting my vehicle "fixed" I was maybe 3 miles down the road when I noticed my temperature gauge rising. I pulled off the road and checked my vehicle to notice the radiator cap was completely loose with engine coolant spilled everywhere. The cap appeared as if it were removed and placed on the valve, but not fastened securely. It looked like somebody attempted to check my fluids, but forgot to fasten the cap. I am completely taken back at this point because not only was I treated completely unwelcome, but now Red Rock caused a potentially bigger problem with my vehicle. After leaving your store I proceeded to have to spend an additional hour figuring out what the problem was, additional money to buy supplies to fix the problem created by their staff's negligence, and find another mechanic to see and service my car for the mistakes they made. I was assured when I left their shop that my car was safe to drive and yet that couldn't have been further from the truth. Not only was I inconvenienced for my time, efforts and finances but a serious amount of damage could have been caused to my car and my own personal safety. I am literally shocked how bad not only their customer was, but the quality of service I received. The owner of the company really needs to address this issue. Not only did their employees have a lack of concern for my safety, but a lack of concern for their own quality of work. When you pay for a service and the "expert" says everything is fixed you should expect it. Also shouldn't the mechanic double check their work before providing a finished product to a paying customer? read more

The shop was extremely busy but they squeezed us in and got us back on the road within a couple of hours. Yes, this is a find in a city that desperately needs better businesses to come and stay. I read the reviews prior to taking in my 11 year old BMW and was not disappointed in any way. They found the 'rat nesting' problem I had suspected and ordered a new part to replace it overnight. I have since returned for an oil change and radiator flush, both completed efficiently. Their prices are good (oh, and so much better than the Bmer dealer in Scottsdale, who wanted to perform multiple unnecessary repairs). Love the boxer who attends to incoming patrons but could do without others dragging in their dogs because they think they have to. Will return again as needed. read more

I would find someplace else if I were you. I have had an awful experience at this place and I have gone to many different shops in my life. They charged an hourly rate that was way more than the dealer's rate and I believe they were very unfair with the way they calculate their labor charge. The woman at the front desk was very rude to me as well. There are plenty of other shops in sleepy little Sedona and I would recommend using any of them over RR Precision. Karl & Mike and the guys at Red Rock Precision in Sedona are quite possibly the friendliest, most forthright automotive repair experts in all my years of dealing with auto repair shops. On my first visit to their shop, I was greeted like an old friend, and they handled my concerns with professionalism and extreme courtesy. As an owner of high performance cars, I take my vehicles into most repair shops braced for bad news, high repair costs and very little compromise. Not the case with Red Rock! They tell you exactly what is wrong, what it will take to solve your vehicle's problem, and not try to sell you a bunch of expensive extras that my or may not be needed, to solve your problem. My "service Engine Soon" light came on, and they took care of the problem (a small hole in a rubber boot). They could just as easily "found" numerous other issues to charge me for, but they simply tightened a rubber boot clamp, charged me a bare minimum fee and sent me on my way, problem solved! Any negative reviews on Yelp for these guys is definitely undeserved (Dionne S., in particular). There is a very good reason why she had to wait a week to get an appointment; they are always booked a week out, but still try to get you in! I waited a week for an appointment. Dropped my car off at 8:20am for an 8:30am appointment. One of the first cars dropped for the day and was told they would call me shortly to let me know what was wrong with the heater. No call by 1pm when I called and was told they were on lunch. By 4pm still no information and they close at 5pm so I walked to their business. They had not looked at it because they had so many drop in's I was told. I sat in the lobby and watched bmw's, hummers, and luxury vehicles being picked up without a problem. I got the distinct impression that elite autos received priority over appointments. read more

Used rr motors many times. Wy wifes BMW had some problems with the transmission.. Took it to them, they informed me it was a certain part. $500 later didn't fix it. Took it back, told me a different code, over $600 later still not fixed. After over $1100 they tell me I need a new transmission. Then a water leak- told it was a o-ring on a sensor. Over charged $80 on a .10 cent o ring said they pressure tested the system an I was good to go. Didn't make it home and the car was rapidly leaking coolant. Took it back. Another $275 to fix over flow tank. Called carl the owner to let him know I was not happy, he said "we are only human, sometimes we make mistakes". When I picked up the car the last Time, repair ticket said, checked belts & hoses, tire pressure, etc... Drive out of the lot and got 1 mile, low tire light came on. Nothing in the tire, just 7-10 lbs low on air when it was supposedly just checked. Bottom line- thought they were a good repair shop, turned out they are not and i would not use them again. To charge what they do and then make mistakes and not credit the customer is wrong. No ownership on quality of repairs. read more
