I've been using Prescott Import Car repair on verity's vehicles including my one of my Mercedes. I have been very satisfied with the service over what! Maybe ten plus years. No the foot drops. A few years ago I had them replace the main and auxiliary battery. I talked with Dave whom I've come to know over the years and requested an interstate big or wet battery because they are pretty good but for the auxiliary battery I requested an OEM or Mercedes battery. Well after a couple years it failed. I replaced it and found some off market little battery that was a year old when they put it in. It even had the price tag on it at $22. Certainly not the OEM promised. Nor what I paid for at abt $80. So I called several weeks yes weeks ago and asked for Dave but the new manager Tiffany said she look into it and get back to me. Well I've called several times but nothing but crickets. Well they're credibility has gone in the toilet. If they promise one thing and give you something else??? What about high end quality synthetic oil??? Maybe they're putting in filtered used oil??? Well I'll never return nor should anyone trust them. I'd give negative rating if possible. I was driving in to town from Phoenix and noticed my engine coolant level alarm going off ... Yes, I said alarm. My car was flashing red on my instrument panel, it was quite alarming! After pulling over and reading the manual (it's a new car and not my daily driver), I searched online for VW Dealer and this business popped up. I called and explained my situation and the gal said there were no appts available to see me but after we hung up she called me back and told me to bring it over (I was already at that point 2 min away from their shop). I drove up, and two gentlemen popped the hood, checked things, discussed it, and then carefully opened the filling container to refill the coolant. To top it all off, they didn't let me pay and said it was a courtesy and handed me the rest of the jug with extra fluid to keep for the future. Apparently my VW dealership in Phx was supposed to top that fluid at our last oil changes and never did that...Face palm. Prescott Import Car Service definitely went above and beyond here and helped me out big time with their availability, willingness, courtesy, and kindness. Yesterday I took my Range Rover in for a back wiper that was not working and the check engine light was on. After all day being in the shop with no communication I went back to the shop to check on my car. They had mistakenly change the oil when I just had the oil changed 2 days prior. Alex told me after he said he wouldn't charge me he explained that the company that changed the oil didn't put enough oil in and that was the reason the check engine light went off now adding more oil. Well....I took the receipt to the company that changed the oil 1st and we looked at how much oil was put in and it was the same amount! So I paid over 200.00 for an oil change that was not needed! The check engine light has come back on and no one even called about the wiper part!! I will not use this company again!!! read more

This last summer my daughter brought her Honda Pilot in for an engine light diagnosis, and was advised that it was rodent damage to the Knock Sensor wiring harness and the cost to remove and replace was $850. She had the shop proceed with the repair. Six months later she returned to Prescott Import Car Service with another engine light on, and again she was told that it was rodent damage to the Knock Sensor wiring harness and this time the quote for the repair was $1,467. She could not afford this, so I suggested to take it to our old mechanic back up in Flagstaff. She called our old shop and got a quote to remove and replace the Knock sensor and harness for $535. She went ahead with the repair in Flagstaff and once the old harness and knock sensor was replaced our mechanic said that there was no rodent damage at all, no nibble marks, no mouse droppings, no nest, just a cracked knock sensor. I called Prescott Import and asked Alex why they diagnosed rodent damage when there was none. He said that the image on the borescope was inconclusive and that this was just a worst case scenario quote. I said that my daughter just paid for a repair that should have been covered under your implied 2 year warranty for the original work six months ago and we are not satisfied with your service. I then spoke with Dave Mendez ,one of the owners of the shop, he explained that the diagnosis of the rodent damage the second time was based on the history of the vehicle and he stands behind it. I said my daughter should not have to pay for a repair that should be covered by your shop, then he said that she should have brought it to them for the repair in the first place and if our mechanic found no rodent damage then we should have had him put it back together and take it to him. This is ludicrous, she did bring the car to them and they misdiagnosed and quoted such a high price she had no choice but go elsewhere. I told Dave that I was very disappointed and did not trust his shop. We got no resolution, no satisfaction and will not return. If you have read this entire review wondering if you should take your import car to this shop then take my advice and keep looking for another shop. read more

David runs an amazing, honest, and full service import car repair shop that would thrive in any city. I had what would be considered a PPI on a Porsche Boxster S that they had serviced there since 2012. David knew the complete history on this vehicle and was open and honest about everything (not that there was anything to hide). After a test drive I had David put the car on the rack so I could look underneath. I pointed out a few things in question, they provided feedback and a rough estimate on the repairs. I didn't strike a deal with the owner of the Porsche that day, but I did find a fantastic shop in Prescott. I will recommend them to anyone in the area and will frequent them when in ther area. I did end up purchasing the Boxster and had another shop in Scottsdale perform a PPI as recommended by one of David's master technicians. TERRIFIC KINDNESS FOR SUCH A LITTLE JOB Driving up to Prescott last week (May 26, '21), our Mercedes E320 told us it needed a quart of oil ASAP. Texted our M-B tech in Phoenix (the absolute BEST -- M.B. Motors on McDowell) who told us the brand and weight of the oil to use. "Find a qualified shop to do it." they said. Our Motel's owner happened to own a Mercedes, and advised us to take ours to Prescott Import. We called them. Come on down, they said. They gave us directions. We found the place easily. Tiffany was at the front desk and ordered our car right inside. Not five minutes later, it was outside again. All done. AND THEN ... Tiffany refused to accept payment. "it's just a can of oil," she said. Yes, but it's *expensive*, artificial oil, and there's the labor involved ... there's a book fee for this, and I should pay it. "Nope," she said, "Off you go." So off we went. With this kind of customer service philosophy, I have no doubt -- also given all their 5-star reviews here -- that their technical service is just as good. I just picked up my Jaguar that was in for ball joint replacement. As I have come to expect from previous work done over the years the work was expertly and professionally completed. However this time there was a twist. It seems that when I was given an estimate for the job a couple weeks earlier they inadvertently underestimated the scope and cost. By a lot. But when I picked up the car the bill was for the exact amount of the estimate. They explained the additional work that had to be performed so I would know what was done and sent me on my way with a smile. I have no doubt they lost money on this job. The staff took special precautions with sanitation and safety protocols mandated by COVID-19. I wanted to take the time to recognize David Mendez at Prescott Import Car Service. I was in the market for a particular vehicle and saw one at a local Prescott dealership (a legit brand name dealer). As an out of state buyer I wanted to make sure the vehicle was in good shape, even though the dealership assured me it was "great". Ultimately, I wanted to confirm I was indeed getting the vehicle as described by getting a pre-purchase inspection. David understood the situation and was on top of it every step of the way. He provided me a thorough inspection in a very timely manner....talk about customer service! Anyone reading this, please get a PPI on any used vehicle you purchase. It might seem "expensive" but for the $280 full inspection I paid, it was 100% worth it. What he found saved me $2-$3k in suspension repairs alone plus any accidents that I may have been in. In addition, the vehicle had a cracked windshield and etched rear window. This isn't a knock on the dealership but 1) A thank you to David and 2) A reminder to get a PPI so you can leave the deal or negotiate a better price. I don't know what is going on at this shop. Maybe it's the Coronavirus or lack of business. I left my BMW for a service this morning and paid 131.00 for an oil change and inspection. upon leaving I questioned a check engine light on the dash. With a straight face I was told that to plug a cable in it would be 140.00 additional. I don't get it. We are talking 5 minutes to read the source for the for the message. This was the 4th time they have serviced this car and I was really taken back that they could gouge me as a repeat customer. Customer no more! read more

COMPLETELY INCOMPETENT!!! I took my car to my BMW to them to fix an oil leak. They did a full diagnostic work up before they would work on my car. In the diagnosis their was no mention of rack and pinion problems. I let them fix the oil leak. It took several days. The morning after I picked my car up I noticed it was still leaking. I immediately took it back. They said no it was not an oil leak, it was my rack and pinion. They said it would be about $4000 to fix. Needless to say I had to take it somewhere else to fix it. Of course I am livid. Now 2 months later the oil leak is back in full force. I have a 2 year warranty but would NEVER let them touch my car again. So all in all I have given them $5000 for absolutely nothing. I don't have the time to take them to court or I would. read more

In my world it is rare to find a mechanic whom I have complete trust and actually enjoy interacting with...these guys are rad. On every occasion that I have had to take my VW in have they made every effort to ensure the repairs I needed were covered by my extended warranty, they have even offered me a car to use while they worked on mine. I realized there was a slight oil leak from my car 2 weeks ago. I called Prescott Import and left a message on Sunday. I heard back the next day, bright and early. I dropped my car off with them Tuesday, a couple hours later I heard back from Brandon, explaining what the issue was, and giving me an estimate. He told me the car would be ready the next day. When they called to tell me it was ready, I realized I wasn't going to be able to pick it up that day. Brandon offered to keep the car until they reopened after the new year. Took our car in yesterday for a headlight problem, without an appointment, and it was fixed and out the door in under 30 minutes. Not many places in town that provide that kind of service. They have a shuttle that will take you downtown, good for early morning appointments when you want to grab breakfast or run errands. Dave, the Service Manager, is always upbeat and friendly. Prescott Import Car has worked on my various Volvo, BMW, and VW autos over many years and I've found them to be consistently reliable. They're not the "cheapest" place in town, but their work is really thorough and they are honest. Dave, at the counter, is always upbeat and the technicians know that they're doing. I've also brought in my Chrysler mini-vans (I had two over the years when my kids were in Middle School and High School) and the work they did was fine. Wouldn't go anywhere else.
