I have used Red's a few times in the past for my GF's car (Infiniti M35x), and most recently for my Smart Car. I've never had any major problems, and the work they've done has been perfectly acceptable, though it slants toward the pricey since they specialize in imports (Audi, Saab, Benz, BMW, etc.). I've had tires installed, inspections done, and brakes installed. Most recently they did a mechanical inspection of a new/used vehicle I'd just purchased. The bill was a bit more than I'd anticipated, as the mechanical inspection was $125, but that did not include the A/C diagnostic, which was another $135, plus $30 for a dye test and $30 for freon. They were responsive and answered my questions; I just felt the cost might have been a bit on the high side. That being said, I believe the standard A/C service is $225, so I suppose it might be in-line. Hoping my car doesn't need any work any time soon, but if it does, Red's is a place I'd definitely consider, though I always try to get a few quotes. They do seem to be knowledgeable, and having a Benz-built car, I do trust they have a better understanding of the quirks of import autos than most shops. read more

After another week at the DEALER they gave me back the car and said it was fixed but the next morning it stalled three time before I got to work. A co-worker recommended Reds and Son and luckily for me it was in Center City and I could drop it off and walk back to work the next morning. Before I finished work Reds called me and told me the car was finished explained exactly what was wrong. The next day the car was ready and I picked it up from work. Not only did they fix the stalling issue but they also stopped the annoying noise. Definetly going there if I ever have another issue. read more

I've been taking both my wife's acura and my toyota to Red's since we moved into Philly 4 years ago. Every time I've had an unexpected issue the guys at Red's have been available to help with little or no notice and always take care of the problem and get me on my way fast! Their location in Center City makes it extremely convenient to drop my car off and either take the subway or cab home. I never feel like they are ripping me off and they are always friendly and courteous when we come in. My wife is especially happy that she feels comfortable dropping off or picking up one of our cars by herself. They are never condescending to her like we've seen at too many other shops. read more

Only one word to describe Reds & Son. HONEST!!! I live in Hatfield & was in town for my daughters wedding, when on the night before the big day my car started spewing anti freeze. Next morning I had car towed to Reds & Son & prepared myself to be raped, for I was at their mercy. Can't name a better time for a business to make some quick bucks! After over an hour of checking, it turned out to be a simple fix of replacing the radiator cap. I never dreamed I'd be on my way for less than $500 when I first pulled in. It has been about 8 years since I have moved into the city and I have tried 9 different shops that all tried to hustle me. Finally I found Reds and Son and I have been going there for 3 years now. They are the most helpful and quick repair shop I have ever been too and trust me I have been to quite a few. I now take all four of my cars there and I could not be happier. All though I have not seen every single shop in the city I have been to many and I will bet this one is the most professional. Reds and Son was recommended to me by a friend who brings her car there whenever she has problems or needs an inspection. My car is quite old so it's not running the way it used to and it was making an odd noise. I'm always nervous about shops because I am clearly not a car person but when I went to pick up my car they clearly explained everything to me and i was relieved to find out my car was no longer making that crazy noise. Incredibly knowledgable about my car. I took it to 2 other shops nearby and had to go to Reds because no one else could handle it. The bill was what I expected it to be for a foreign car and the front desk people were able to break down the bill for me so I could see that I wasn't being screwed over. The "rape" that the other reviews are talking about is ridiculous. Owning a foreign car means that repairs are going to be more expensive. It is part of the cost of owning a foreign car. I wanna say thank u to the staff at Reds & son for a great job on my 2005 Benz CL 500, this was my 2nd time taking my car to have work done, I was equally as pleased the 1st visit, the staff was very friendly, and communicated with me every step of the way during the service. I thought I would have to make an appointment somewhere to get it fixed, but I ran by Reds & Sons (I've been there a few times already), and they patched it up on the spot for a few dollars. The Best Car Doctors - I have an Audi and was sick and tired of going to the Audi dealer where I get ripped off every time. I love this place. They fixed my coolant leak on an A4 I had bought used 2 months ago. They were very clear on what was wrong and what had to be done to fix it. Foreign cars are a commitment and a responsibility to the driver to maintain. You treat the car right, it will treat you right. I have an '87 Mercedes diesel with a temperamental fuel system. I have found it difficult to find a mechanic in Philly that is willing to dive into this issue but Red's took it on with confidence. I bring my car here for oil changes, inspections, and everything else. The service is excellent. The people are friendly and honest. They call before doing any work or buying parts, etc. to make aware of costs. They are very knowledgeable and take time to explain and answer all questions. I am so happy to have found these guys. I have a VW and used to take the car to a VW dealer, I was always charged more at VW and generally had to have the work redone. These guys are efficient, great turn around and are polite and accommodating. And I have never encountered them doing more work than was asked for and always give a full explanation of the work that they did. read more

Took my Mercedes there for new tires last year then several months later took same car back because I suspected I had a slow leak in one of the tires. Very good service. Prompt, timely communication.
