Redwood just feels like home. It's cute, close to the house, and you truly never know what (or who) you're going to find there. Some days it's the usual suspects with sneakers and sunglasses... and other days, it's little bursts of magic. We always stop by the sweetest lady who sells fresh fruit--her plums? Chef's kiss. Five bucks a bag and worth every cent. But what I really love are those Friday/Saturday vendors who come out of nowhere with tables of old, random treasures. No rhyme, no reason, just hidden gems priced like it's 1994. That's the thrill of it. It's not fancy, but that's the charm. People are out, chatting, soaking up the sun--it's just a really nice vibe. Definitely worth stopping by if you're in the area. You might leave with a bag of fruit, a vintage trinket, or just a smile. read more

Reading some of those reviews within the past year or so, myself as a seller & buyer I would like to comment on other reviews from the fee to park to "uninterested sellers" waiting for you to ask how much to how every seller have various items for sale or similar groups - bulk dry food, power equipment, odds & ends, clothing, furniture, etc., to the overall condition of the place - food shack, bathroom, ATM, to the other sellers. Redwood is small to medium size venue compared to larger ones like Mansfield Drive In Flea Market or The Elephant Trunk or smaller local ones. First almost all flea markets charge admission (and or) a parking fee. Mansfield, The Elephant Trunk charges for admission. I've dealt with the early bird shoppers (other sellers or people shopping for their own to flip), some (buyers/sellers) like to "dig through" piles or clutter on display on the tables while some buyer like things displayed nicely- spaced out, not too cluttered where you reach for one item and knock over a couple items to in the process. As for other sellers not being interested in the buyers. I think like anyone else most buyers are looking for a bargain especially at flea markets or tag sales. I've seen some small furniture pieces (end tables, nightstands, chair) range in price from $10 up to $100 or even higher based on age, if real wood or press fiber board, condition of the item. I've bought & sold some piece as mentioned earlier from the low end to the mid range. As an example I recently sold an end table around $75, it was from a furniture store my grandparents bought in the late 60's or early 70's. Overall condition very good , still sturdy , minimal scratches or nicks around legs. A few interested people offered like $25/$30 for it but I refused them because I knew I'm was asking a FAIR price and still have many years left with proper care - dust, polish it. Have you ever gone somewhere and thought, "wow, I'm glad I checked it out so I know not to come back"? Enter Redwood Country Flea Market. The majority of the vendors couldn't care less about how they displayed their wares. I love flea markets, thrift shops and antique stores, but this one was one of the worst! It was really funky and junky. Some of the vendors just threw their stuff on the ground, dirty dishes, broken toys, and rusty tools. Others had boxes and bins on the ground full of cheap crap and it was uncomfortable trying to look for things. And a few, thankfully, took a little pride in their businesses and used tables or racks to display their goods. The best booths were the plant and fresh produce spaces. A couple of the vendors were rude and dismissive while others were welcoming and friendly. Some vendors haggle and some don't. What a hodgepodge of people and stuff!!! If you are a collector of McDonalds toys, and don't mind digging thru mounds of piles, you may find some rare characters. Several tents were filled with tools and housewares. One sold packaged food and condiments-personally I'd be wary of buying groceries at this dingy, dirty flea market. As it started to sprinkle, salespeople scrambled to cover their wares with tarps and began packing up early. At the end of the tents, there was a snack bar. We didn't eat there but, if you are not picky, go for it! I heard from a local that this was once a nicer venue for "tag sales"... but she said it had really gone down hill. We weren't impressed at all and I wouldn't go back there... you'd have to pay me to take some of that junk home! A lot of it belonged in the dump. Great flea market but I'm not paying a parking price to maybe just walk around, if I don't see anything I like. What a shame, because you lost 3 customers today. My friend called me and told me he's done, so I would like to know if the people you charge tables for know they are losing paying customers - me and my wife being 2 of them and if these 3 people aren't there are plenty more that won't be going back either. Sometimes I just need a paint brush and now you made it so I won't get a good deal. I gave you 2 stars only because they used to have a great selection of sellers tables. It's a hit or missed some sellers wants way to much stuff for there stuff and it's junk !! They must think it's worth something and other sellers like to rip people off and some sellers are good and honest and reasonable!! Really like the food tent u can get some good buys in there but some good are out of date so just watch . So again it's hit n miss . Good look happy shopping !! read more

Always interesting to stop by as there is usually something to pick up at a great price. There must be at least 50 vendors or more with a wide assortment of items from fresh vegetables, can goods, old tools, videos, clothing, household goods and supplies. read more

This flea market is gradually going downhill. The family friendly quality has been fading. They banned dogs from the market, which was a shame since there was a very nice dog owner community. Somewhat hypocritically, there are a bunch of vendors and customers who insist on smoking very bad smelling cigars, pipes, and cigarettes. The quality vendors are disappearing and rather suspicious types are appearing. Last week, there was even a vendor who was openly selling drug paraphernalia -- tiny 5g baggies, hookahs, and gram scales. read more

It's a hit or miss but when it's a hit they have some wonderful stuff.. I got me and my Daughter the warmest blankets that I have ever seen and they were well worth the money that I got them for... Minute one I spot a brand new(ish) Trivia Pursuit Genus Edition (which I called genius edition which is ironic and made me feel inadequate in front of my boyfriend).. boom one fat dollar for that gem. (Look online, it's like $45) Two enthusiastic thumbs up to the magazine lady, lots of current choices for my favorite price, you guessed it; $1. Happy to not see any suspect nazi memorabilia like last time. Lots of personal care products like deodorant without the seal...so if you want to play rash roulette with your arm pits I say all in. I spotted two Jodeci tapes at two different tables and managed to pass them up both times so maybe they will be there for you next time. I'll leave this off with a picture of a sweatshirt that was wildly inappropriate and I couldn't quite explain to the Asian gentleman why it was so ...lost in translation. read more

I've gone to this flea market a handfull of times, and have always left with some fun stuff! There are Approx. 60-90 dealers there each weekend. There is ample Free parking at a lot just adjacent to the flea market entrance. Vendors sell all sorts of stuff: Antiques, Collectibles, New & Used items, Sports Items, Tools, Music, DVDs, Produce, Flowers, Clothing, Jewelry, Coins. There's a small restaurant/diner on premises, with indoor restrooms. Open 6a-2:30p, last I checked. read more

A great place for the odd ephemera... but be sure to go with an ounce of patience and people who are down for slow browsing. Great for plants and tools, collectibles are so-so. Most vendors are friendly and the majority of market goers are the same. The restaurant is not to be missed, and the Georgia RedHots.... super solid. The staff is hilarious, catty and sarcastic but your coffee will never be less than 3/4 full. Everyone is a local or treated like one. Motorcycle and hot rod rallies at the restuaurant weekly as well. read more

THE RESTAURANT IS A GEM. Sunday morning my brother stopped by for takeout to bring me breakfast where I live at Masonicare's nursing home. The lady at the grill made THE BEST Ham 'n' Egg with cheese on a hard roll we ever had. When he arrived with our sandwiches, the cheese was still creamy hot; the ham was generous, overflowing the hard roll; and the egg cooked to perfection - yolk still soft. The Lady is a pro! I only wish I could drive there myself for breakfast in my power wheelchair. But my DMV license expired three years ago. read more

Great little flea market if you are already in the area. We stopped by late morning on our drive home to Virginia and found a few interesting items. A flea market is dependent on who happens to show up that day to sell which most likely changes week to week. I don't know what people that are leaving bad reviews are expecting. Since I was a kid my family and I have gone to this flea market. There are a ton of vendors, and odds are whatever you are looking for you can find it. Just a fair warning to all the ladies looking for knock off bags, you won't find that here though- go to the BLVD in New Haven for that. They have updated the parking lot so that there is a larger space for cars to pull into a lot rather than parking streetside. I will always love this place read more

First time going to this flea market. I had no expectations at all. It's quite small compared to what I thought it would be, but make sure that you go through it slowly or else you'll miss something. There's a good mix of new and used items and maybe two tables of handmade items (hats and clothes)...unlike some flea markets where there's mostly bootleg items. LOVE IT! I went today for the first time and was very pleased. It's not huge but there are many vendors, so plenty of different things to check out, fair prices, everyone willing to make a deal. This is more of a large tag sale scene than an artys fartsy craft market. There are tools- old and new, jewelry, coins, home goods, instruments, books, antiques, toys, you name it! I love to explore so I found some great stuff but if you don't like to hunt for a deal... go to the mall? it's nice that there's a restaurant on site (didn't eat there but it looked yummy) but I wish there were a drink and snack stand so you could munch while you shop- that's my only complaint. read more

Visited once--and it happened to be an off day for vendors, many were doing other shows ie, Brimfield. However, still lots to see. Yes, there was some police activity--vendor shut down for (hopefully only) beebee guns. One vendor under a canopy (across from the police activity) was very helpful stating it was a slow show that one day...Found some depression glass that I collect, reading glasses (wore contacts and needed them) and some other great finds.. I went there mainly for vegetable plants...and the deals were amazing...I usually spent about $120 at the nursery's in Cheshire...I walked out with everything I needed and a couple new things to try like Brussel Sprouts....$45 bucks...I was definitely a happy camper... read more

The flea market itself is cool, the un-cool part is the parking or lack there of. If you plan on attending the Redwood Country Flea Market - Wallingford, CT either go very early or wear your hiking shoes for a long walk down the back roads of Wallingford, because parking close to the market is NOT an option if you don't get into the lot on either side of the grounds. I parked a ways up on a side road after driving by the hairy faced man waving the sign "LOT FULL, KEEP MOVING" as he waved ohter cars in, figure that one out? Road rage was in no short order on Saturday April 20th 2010 as horns blasted back and fourth. After gaining FREE entrance to the market I was at home and all was worth the strugle. read more

I go there once or twice a week to shop around for stuff. Its a cheapskates paradise. Everything sells dirt cheap. If you pay a fair price or a high price for something, you've made that vendors day since that rarely happens there. There's a lot of junk but there are some good things hidden. Its often overrun by pickers (and the people that see it on tv and think they are pickers). Some of the vendors are very friendly and there every week with new stuff. Others, not so much. Its hard to sell there since they always fill up except in the winter. You have to be willing to sell everything for way less than whats it worth or it will not sell. Its expensive for a space and theft is very common so watch everything like a hawk. So, its better to shop there than sell there. you can find great stuff for amazing prices. Parking is free and its open all year round. Even in the winter, you'll find vendors selling. Its a dirt lot so in the winter or after it rains its a mud pit so wear boots. Its a fun place to shop. Not a typical flea market. read more

I have been going to the Redwood Flea Market since the late 1970's, riding my bicycle there until I earned my drivers licsense when I turned 16 in 1981. I have also been a vendor there usually 5 to 6 times per year. There is ample free parking, no charge to walk through the market, a good restaurant on premises, as well as restrooms. The "collectibles" are not as readily available from the vendors as they once were, a nd their is probably more "new" merchandise each season. later in the morning, the people browsing through can tend to be very slow moving, of foot and of parting with cash for vendors' wares. All in all, a nice country setting, although you do need to be extra careful when pulling/backing out of the street side row of parking, as some motorists who do not care for the flea market traffic, seem to purposely accelerate down South Turnpike Road looking for a accident/confrontation. Mr. Dubar and his staff do a thorough job of keeping automobile and foot traffic moving safely, as did the flea markets original owner, Mr. Dubar's late Father. read more
