Both my pup and I get nervous anytime we have to go to the vet, but we've always received great care when we come in. I can confidently book my appointments with Redwood Vet knowing that he will be taken care of. My most recent vet team was Nurse Maddie and Dr. Villagran. I wish I could make Dr. Villagran my pup's permanent vet, but unfortunately they are a contracted doctor and only work at this location intermittently. Had an appointment for 2pm no room in waiting room, kept being told they're running behind so we sat in the parking lot with our dog. We never got brought back to a room or even inside at all. The vet ended up coming out to the parking lot 2 1/2 hours late and talking to us. She seemed very detached, entitled and cold. Needless to say I ended up paying 1,000 dollars for this visit and never even got to go inside the office. They had me leave my dog there with them because they said that she needed to be sedated for the urinalysis they had to do. Didn't get to come pick her back up until almost 6pm. My dog needed her toe removed because of cancer and they wanted to charge me to remove her toe 8,000!!!!!!! On any other place in the Bay Area was way less than half and in Germany 400 in Mexico 300 Took my dog to Mexico and it was excellent clean fast great service. Not open on Saturdays and Sundays? Come on! They make enough money to hire extra help and TRIAGE emergencies. They do a terrible disfavor to our vulnerable pets in need. When your pet is attacked, it can't wait 4 to 5 days for an appointment. How would they feel if they needed emergency care and the emergency room at Kaiser Hospital told them they were booked for the next 4 days so, make an appointment. We need better care for our pets in Vallejo. Work smart, the money and need is there. At the very least, have a vet on-call. I took our 2 1/2 year old Lab, Charlie, who was having a slight discharge in his eye. I was so pleased that we were able to see Dr. Erin Wright. She is an amazing vet and person. She got right down on the floor with Charlie and gave him an exam and did the tear check and the test to be sure there was not injury to his eye. All the way through the visit Dr. Wright was so caring and informative. The vet tech that assisted was very kind and accommodating as well. Although we routinely take our dogs to UC Davis because of all the specialized departments and diagnostic tools, but if we think it is just a quick check up, or as I described yesterday, in an abundance of care, we have always enjoyed Redwood Vet with Dr. Veltri and Dr. wright. read more

My dog Rocky is 17 and he needed to be put to rest today. He stopped eating 5 days ago and through the night stopped drinking and cant move. He is thier patient and I called and they said "we dont have any available appointments"! I dont owe them money! Maybe its because I dont go through them for the medication for my dogs? All I know is that this vet denied putting thier lifelong patient to rest! How long does it take really?! 5 minutes! I will never take my animals there again. It's truly baffling how this place has so many good reviews. Maybe they all stem from once upon a time when everything was decent, but they have significantly gone downhill. The staff is rude and pushy. They don't get things done when they say they will. They overcharge and don't care about the pet. My older small dog was ATTACKED by my neighbor's 2 pitbulls at my property on the 29th of June. The ATTACKER caused a gapping wound on him. I rushed him to Redwood Veterinarian hospital in Vallejo. We asked several questions the vet brushed it off. Had a follow up appointment they charged $75, which is usually free at all other vets. They said Max was fine. Saturday he bleed from his mouth and died. This is true medical malpractice. They don't care about their patients or the family members. They only care about their cash. They are not knowledgeable and don't want to answer questions they just want to take your money and let your animal die. read more

I have had 2 Cocker Spaniels, Twinkle who passed in 2004 T 15 1/2.. and Now my little girl Khloe just passed on March 6, 2025 at 15 years and 3 months. It's never easy to lose a pet. On the morning of 8/25/25, my dog Marley's head was extremely tilted, his eyes were rotating, his legs were weak, and he couldn't stand or walk. minutes later on the same day, he saw Dr Nicolle lacobacci, at redwood veterinary hospital. After she examined Marley, she stated that there were two potential diagnoses due to the movement of his eyes (rotating instead of side to side), a brain tumor or vestibular syndrome. She then stated that the options were taking him home or euthanasia. She stated that neither option was wrong however, caring for him at home would be difficult because of his size (he's 50 lbs) We'd have to carry him out every two hours to use the bathroom, hand feed and water him. She added most people probably couldn't do it. When she mentioned euthanasia a couple times. I asked "is there any chance he'll recover? And she answered "no". we felt that she was trying to sway us to euthanize Marley. My family and I told the Dr we'd like to have a private discussion. We decided to take Marley home and give him a chance to recover. Marley is very dear to us and we have given him the best of care, great diet, nurturing etc because his is loved and valued so greatly And didn't want to dispose of him just because he was ill. As you can imagine this was very emotional and disturbing to myself and my family Members (present during the exam). Fortunately for Marley, we took him home and he recovered rapidly, with major improvement on each day and almost creturning to normal on day 6. vestibular syndrome has a great recovery rate. I talked to a couple of friends, who experienced this condition with their dogs and they all recovered. For Dr lacobacci to repeatedly mention euthenasia when vestibular syndrome was a possibility, was cruel and unprofessional. Pet owners trust their Vet professionals to provide honest, informed and humane care and to make an effort to help their pets recover. I'm writing this review in hopes that not other dog parent has to endure this misguided And unethical treatment in the future. read more

I have nothing but praise for the doctors and staff here! They made an awful situation with my old cat, something I never wanted to have to do, as easy for me as possible. The doctors and staff were all very caring throughout the whole process, giving my little man and I the time I needed. I was able to hold him the whole time, all the way to the end, until they took him to make a paw print in clay and take clippings of his fur. They brought him back to me wrapped in a towel that was securely closed. I brought him home to place under a statue of the Buddha in my back yard. In my opinion they went above and beyond in easing this highly painful event. They have my respect and gratitude and recommendation! read more

I went to Redwood VH after I returned from a trip abroad and discovered that my cat was having issues walking and using the litter box. Redwood was recommended by a family member. I wasn't sure what to expect as I was unfamiliar with the vets in the area, and I needed help quickly. The Redwood doctors and staff were great. They helped narrow down a diagnosis, which turned out to be a spinal disease, and get me to a specialist. The doctors also spoke to me 3-4 times, sometimes for half an hour, free of charge, when I needed advice. They were very patient and understanding, and always got back to me that day. I've been taking my dogs to Redwood Veterinary since I moved to Vallejo (2017).. I use them for maintenance care (if there is an emergency or urgent issue, I go to Sage). Each pup received great care. My current dogs have two different personalities when it comes to vet care. One has severe anxiety that is being worked on, yet they still love on Gideon (muzzle, Gabapenten and all). Hannah strolls in, no issues, and gets the same love and care. When my last pup required emergency care, Redwood called every morning after the appointment to check on us. They provide great value for their prices. Not once did they try to upsell me on care I didn't need for my pups. I am always given options and enough information to make a decision. read more

I phoned the office early requesting and praying that they had an Avian Vet and if I could possibly bring in one of my precious chickens. Redwood Vet has not disappointed, even during the pandemic, they have provided the utmost care and feel at ease knowing he is in good hands. Above all, knowing how the Vets are busy, they take their time to explain the current situation and want to know all the facts prior to engaging in any medication. Horrible experience with my dog appt last week! Got there 10 min late due to adopted dog having anxiety and struggled getting him in car. Called from park lot when arrived gal said she has to check with dr to see if I can still get dog seen due to 10 min late. 11 minutes later she got back on phone saying dr won't see my dog. I pleaded to speak to dr she said no dr won't speak to me. I pleaded how having to come back would only be worse for my Dog and we would gladly wait if needed. She ignored me and kept saying she can reschedule me. I ended up cursing saying they lost my business. I Had just spent over $800 past two months on my other dog and was still waiting for a doctor to return my call on a concern. This was final draw. Additionally I posted a small complaint on local fb group. The woman whom I spoke with from vet decided to violate my privacy and rights and post my personal information on the fb page! I am seeking further action at this time as I do not use my true name on fb due to safety reasons and she posted my real info for thousands to see. I don't even know where to start. We have been bringing our pets here for 30 years. They had always been wonderful. In February of 2020 our Boston Terrier passed away. A few weeks later we got a call from one of the vets that they had filled our dog's epileptic medication wrong, likely resulting in his final and fatal seizure. He didn't need to die. Recently, one of our cats stopped eating and moving and they told us to take him to an emergency vet hospital, Redwood used to handle them. I did, after a bunch of tests, no one can say what is wrong and they advised us to follow up with our regular vet. I have called twice, spoken to a receptionist once and no one has called me back. Meanwhile I just keep going to the emergency vet hospital and they keep telling me to follow up with our primary vet. It is really too bad because there are still a few good vets there but they have just become almost impossible to deal with. read more

The main concern with this is why leave skin that there is a possibility of it causing problems in the future? Why not go ahead and remove anything that may require her coming back in..? Clearly from day one the discoloration looked horrible and this was a Monday, Wednesday everything was "healing properly"? How is it that my dog was placed completely under, had the procedure redone, nails, antibiotics, pain meds, hospitalization and all of that ran me 670!!? How is it that a local anesthetic cost more than having a pet intubated and put under? That alone doesn't make sense to me. At best, your staff was accommodating, that's leaving out that the receptionist lost a piece of paper with my social security number on it. They looked for 15 minutes before deciding to tell me that they "shredded it" what would be the need to search for something that is normally shredded? I understand your need to defend your hospital but in all honesty the price and the job that was done don't match I would have gladly paid more to have the job done properly the first time. It was as if y'all wanted her to come back! She is healing great now and she is a different dog, there's no pus gunk anywhere because they removed anything that could have caused infection, they even said "there is a possibility of it working itself out but there is a possibility of it getting an infection and dieing so we are going to go ahead and not risk it" The photos tell all. If your staff was so overbooked then why would you guys take a dog anyway? That's unprofessional seeing that you guys didn't have time and now have to rush through several procedures, which means not only my dog was rushed on, but other pets probably too. read more

Redwood Vet is amazing. I have an aging pup and in the last 2-3 years, we have been making constant visits to the vet. Every staff member is patient, accommodating, and truly cares for each animal that comes through their doors. Every time I come to pick up my dog, they tell me how good she was at her visit. I never feel nervous coming to the vet because I know that my dog is in good hands. Recently, my dog had to have an emergency surgery. We were very lucky to have the Redwood Vet staff recognize the urgency and accommodate us in their schedule even though they had two other surgeries on that day. I've always felt good taking him here, but recently he has had some health issues pop up & they have handled everything with such care, answered all of my questions, and discussed multiple options with me. I only put one star because in order to leave a review you have to. It's been two weeks now since our visit. We were referred by a pet emergency line to go to the nearest pet hospital and they provided us their information. ** THIS PLACE IS NOT GOOD AT ALL** THEY ARE AFTER YOUR MONEY$$$. ** My I had very traumatic experience at this place. Our dog must have had a heat stroke or probably an allergic reaction to something. So we brought him in for an emergency visit. When we got there everything was happening so fast. We were brought back to a room where we were met by a Vet- Jessica Norman. She advised us that our boy has a fever and was very dehydrated. She stated the obvious. After 5 mins of being in a room, she comes in and tell us that Beast is not in the best condition and he going to need x-rays and might need to be transferred for emergency care if they can't do it there. She went on with a bunch of it could be's and maybe it's this or maybe it's that. She seemed so unsure about everything she was saying. Me feeling so sad and hopeless, praying my dog makes it, is trusting in this ladies judgement. I started telling my husband we need to do what we need to do for our dog to make it. After my husband stresses to her, that there has to be something we can try to help him feel a little better with what we could afford. Vet- Jessica Norman say that she suggest we start thinking about Euthanasia (putting him to sleep). I could not believe I'm hearing this. Because I can't afford for my dog to be hospitalized at thousands of dollars and on oxygen at $55/hr, my only other option is to put him down. My husband, kids and I could not even wrap our head around what we had to think about. I can't even count how many times she said in the end euthanasia is going to be best for him,cause this is no condition for a dog to live in. Every time Vet- Norman left the room, we kept continuously googling and youtube in heat strokes in dogs and allergic reactions. It seem liked what he had to us. So my husband took over. Told her to treat our dog for an allergic reaction and asked for a steroid shot. She said she'll do it, but she doesn't think it will help. She she said we need to plan for the worse when we get home, that Beast didn't have days, he had hours left. My husband and I kept asking her if she was familiar with these breeds. She said with confidence Yes!. Which is obviously not the truth. She has no clue about pets in general, but i'll get to that after this. After so many different treatment plans being presented to us, my husband finally took charge and told them what we want for our dog. After being there for hours and crying and feeling stressed out and close to $500 something dollars later- keep in mind- we had no x-ray or anything diagnostic done for him. Just an ER visit, Oxygen and IV and steroid shot.The crazy thing is its only $180 to put our dog to sleep. But the want an Arm and a leg to keep your pet alive. They gave Beast his shot, discharged him to us, still with an IV catheter ( because she said just in case we change our mind, it would be easier and a faster process to put him to sleep). They wished us luck and sent us on our way. As my family and I go home, were all stressing trying to prepare ourselves for the worst because the vet said he will die at home. Thank God for my husband's judgement and for taking us home! When we got home we gave him water and had our other dogs surround him with us as a family and Beast jumped right up. He was just a little slow, like anyone who just went thru a sickness would be. But he did NOT DIE in a couple of hours! I'm happy and extremely happy to say Beast is up and is stronger and ever!! He's a soldier!!! He made it today see his 1st birthday today. Vet Jessica Norman did call to do a couple of follow ups, she said she was surprised that he has gotten better. Here's the part when I figured she needed more training. I asked her how long do female dogs have there monthly for, her answer was 7 days. When heat usually lasts between 2-4 weeks. Ok come on that's general knowledge. I said thank you and hung up. After looking her up on the Veterinary Medical Board site it looks like she got issued her license June 2019, so only year of practicing. She needs more training and knowledge. I will never bring my pets here again. If she has knowledge of this breed of the micro bully , she would know how much they are and know that money isn't really the problem for us, it's how she handled the situation at hand. After reading thru some of the reviews,there is a lady on here by the name of Mariam H, who I relate with. Seems, like Dr. Norman is accusing her of being our family. This establishment is so money hungry. I only took my dog for a little thing and they off the bat were telling me to put him down. When I asked for more information to why they would just offer me this option, they told me that I would need x rays and your procedures totaling in $1000+. Like wtf. So why offer to put him down in the first place. They constantly were pushing for things to be done in order to get money honestly. I just don't get it. And they had an attitude towards me and my family. I went back home because I told them to never mind, that I'll figure it out elsewhere. At the end my dog just needed some rest. After 24 years and 4 dogs of being treated by redwood vet I will not return. After coming to a difficult decision to have my 14.5 year old dog euthanized I was told that they were understaffed and could not help me that day. I had mentioned that Dr Wright told me that they would "squeeze" us in for this service. But the receptionist refused to give us an appointment and had no compassion about how difficult this was. I was forced to go to a different vet who had never seen our dog and the vet squeezed us in. There is no customer service, care, compassion, nor empathy at redwood vet with the employee answering the phone. Redwood Vet's excuse since 2020 has been that they are understaffed. The difficulty in getting prescriptions filled, getting appointments and care of one's pet has been overwhelming and with the excuse is always "we are understaffed". If the business is so understaffed why do they continue to take on new customers and not help their current clients. I don't know where I will take my future animals but it will not be Redwood Vet! read more

I have used redwood veterinary hospital for years off and on ...we have moved from the area and haven't used them resently I ran into a problem with my new veterinary place and the medicine that they prescribed to my dog was in pill form and couldn't get it in liquid form so I called redwood veterinary to see if they could do me a favor and give me the liquid form and I did have a prescription..the girl on the phone said that they hadn't seen my dog in over a year so they wouldn't do it....i have had many dogs and cats my dog had most of his teeth removed was very expensive that is two dogs with teeth removed I had two litters of puppy's and I could go on and on of how much money I have spent there and all they would have to do is fill a prescription that's the thanks I get for being loyal they worry about themselves I was thinking of having my new dogs teeth cleaned and removed but now wow lost business read more
