My husband and I chose to have Gal and his crew do our bathroom renovation after being incredibly impressed with his work replacing our floor a year ago. Being repeat clients, we knew to expect great things, but we are again absolutely blown away by the amount of prep, care, and precision the Reef Builders team put in. We had very particular requests for our accent placement as well as specific layouts for textured vs non textured tile, and the guys matched it all up beautifully. They provide a great balance between recommending certain placements but not being overly opinionated when it comes to matters of taste. For example, when it comes to functionality and logistics, they'll always tell you the proper way things should be done; but if it's about personal preference, they'll weigh in with what they've seen work well in the past but will remind you they you're the boss creatively. Gal's crew, Javi and Ernie, are also extremely kind, efficient, and careful in the house. They lay tarps down along the work path to protect the floor and work very well independently, so your time isn't taken up. Yet, when it comes to the important stuff, they ask questions to make sure they're doing everything exactly how you'd like it. We left for a week on a trip while they worked and nothing went wrong while we were gone (in fact, we were away while they did our floor a year ago as well!) They really treat it like it's their own home in terms of how cautious they are and we trust them completely with our lockbox code and key. From quote to materials to demo to project completion, the process was very smooth. Gal also knew a bunch of experts like a carpenter and glass installer so we could get good rates on custom fixtures like the shower and vanity. They also are having us monitor the grout over the next month or two since it's unavoidable to have slight cracking as everything settles -- after which they'll come out and do touch ups as part of the included process -- because Gal never cuts corners. To be honest, I am in the construction industry myself as an engineer, and I know a lot of field guys who would be happy to do this work as well for us -- but Gal has been such a pleasure to work with, and has yielded such great results, that I'm sure we'll be coming back time and time again for our future renovations. Gal the project manager and his crew did fantastic work! We needed to tile our master bathroom which had previously been carpet, and we needed the job done quickly since we were moving in the following week. Not only was Gal quick to respond and mobilize his crew, but he was able to get the whole thing done while we were on a trip that week. Despite us not being there, Gal communicated everything efficiently and thoroughly. We FaceTimed us to show us the state of the subfloor, and ASK us if we wanted to replace it, rather than just telling us it was bad to increase the price of the job. He was honest that they were in decent condition, and advised to replace them but did not pressure us to. On that note, he had come prepared before the job even started with wood planks, the flexible concrete, and all other materials that would be required. Then, when he discovered the wooden planks were not exactly the right size, he had the crew go replace them all, because this is a team that does not settle for anything less than perfect! The work itself looks awesome. They matched the tile pattern really nicely and got the grout really narrow but still with room to breathe. There is nearly no dip from the tile to the carpet in the surrounding rooms and the floor is very level. They also reinstalled the toilet on gratis since they forgot to mention that ahead of time, and didn't upsell us on that after we had agreed upon the price. He was also very clear with change orders and their additional cost when we decided to replace the sub floor, all which he gave us an estimate of before we signed any contract. Finally, they wrapped the entire walkway from the garage to the bathroom so that our carpet and floors stayed safe. We hired Gal and his team to replace our bathroom floor tile. We had previously had our bathroom renovated by another contractor who made a lot of mistakes and rarely showed up to oversee workmanship. When our bathroom flooded, the water went through our original tiles and caused water damage below, so we needed the floor tiles fully replaced. Gal is professional, patient, and fully explained every possibility that could happen during construction. Gal explained what had gone wrong with the previous installation and how to prevent future issues. Gal was there every step of the way, which was a really nice change from our previous contractor! The job included: carefully removing our custom double vanity, removing the toilet and finding the source of the leak + fixing it to prevent future water damage, removing the water damaged tiles, replacing the cement boards below and applying redgard waterproofing, laying the tile/grout, and reinstalling the vanity and toilet/doing touchups to the baseboards. This was all done in 3-4 days total and the work is immaculate. His employees were friendly and efficient. One of my favorite things: one of his workers double checked with me that they had the correct grout and paint colors before they started grouting and painting the baseboards. This might seem like a simple thing, but our previous contractor and team used the wrong grout color and wrong paint every step of the renovation. With Reef Builders I feel I really got what I paid for- the work is excellent. Also, Gal offered to come back if any issues came up. It's great having a contractor who stands by their work. I found Reef Builders on Yelp when I needed a quote to remove old 70s era carpet from three rooms and install porcelain tile in its place. The job was complicated by a vinyl subfloor that was glued with tar to the concrete slab. The tar needed to be completely removed before placing the tiles. Of all the vendors I spoke with, Gal wasn't the cheapest, but he had the best step-by-step understanding of what it would take to prep the slab floor to accept the tile properly, then put the tile in place. To me, having the job done right was more important than price I suppose. I appreciated his attention to detail and that he put together a detailed proposal with a contract that set a timeline for the work. Each day, I also got progress photos sent to me. I know the tile project was not a major remodel, but I'm happy with the result and would call Gal again to perform additional work when I need something done again. We were referred to Gal at Reef Builders by a friend who had them redo their kitchen. From the looks and sounds of the process it was an easy decision for us. After hiring Gal, and working side by side with him and his company - we are extremely pleased with the results. Communication was and still is always #1 and quality of work made us very happy. As far as the scope, we redid the whole backyard, added a huge pool with micro-pebbles instead of regular plaster, 2 bajas and a big spa. Added a firepit, over 2000 sqft of synthetic grass, lots of concrete and planting/green throughout. Lots of design work and details but now our backyard is our paradise.
