I have called repeatedly over the past few days to attempt scheduling an appointment. Their store hours were listed closing at 9:30. After no answer I drove there about 8ish. It was locked up and closed an hour and half before closing. I attempted to recall multiple times today relatively soon after opening. I was sent to voicemail immediately. While on vacation I decided to go on a whim and give them a call for an appointment that same day. Marlene, who was available was my stylist! Found Refine and Hector though the magic that is Yelp. I saw a yelper's hair that I liked and tracked it all down to Refine. Yes, I stalk on a regular. Don't judge me. Hector was able to even out my last haircut from my old salon that was definitely what you'd call asymmetric, but not exactly in the good way - shorter on the left and longer on the right. He blended it all to have it shorter in the back to longer, piecey layers in the front. So, in other words, a true a-line lob (long bob) with nice, soft texture. I have never really had a hairstylist before (I usually do my hair in Asia), and I had a great experience! Refine is located in Covina on the corner of the street, and you can't miss it. The interior was super classy and nice, and it had a nice atmosphere. I made an appointment with Becca, and she really takes care of her clients and their hair. Over text, Becca gave me a couple options of what I can do to get the style I desired. She actually took the time to go over everything and ensure what I wanted which was really nice- she went above and beyond her duty! Since I do have jet black hair, we decided to do two sessions of bleach and a finish of blue/ silvery tones. Becca was very friendly and easy to talk to, and I really enjoyed coming in and getting my hair done with her! She was very informative and definitely knows what she is doing- I learned so much about hair and the different processes! If you are using bleach, I would recommend olaplex as it repairs the broken bonds the bleach causes. It does cost more, but it is well worth it. After my first session, she toned my hair into an ash/blonde which looked super nice! Definitely debating going back to that color after my current hair. Because I was late to my second session, I was unable to bleach it more, but Becca did wonders with my hair and turned it into a beautiful blue/blonde/silver! I fell in love with my hair both instances, and I am so happy with the colors of my hair! I have definitely found my new go to hair stylist for color! read more

I've been coming here since late 2022, usually every 8 weeks. I was lucky enough to get an appointment with Hector and he's been my go-to ever since! I have really thin hair, and together we've been able to grow it out. He listens to what I want and also has great suggestions. After the initial cut, he spends time "personalizing" the hair style to fit my face. It's not the cheapest hair cut, but totally worth it. I don't trust many with my hair, especially because it's so thin- a lot of people say they know how to work with it but they don't! Hector is amazing and the salon itself is cute and cozy. Becca is uhhhhmazing! She's worked miracles on my head. I've done all kinds of nonsense to my hair on my own or with a previous stylist. About a year ago I had the ends of my hair lightened and put blue into it. The rest of my hair was black. Once I was over the mess of having blue in my hair I dyed black over it. When I got over that I put red in my hair then AGAIN dyed it black. So when I came to Becca I had black hair (red/black with the old blue still kind of hiding underneath dye). I wanted to truly lighten my hair and put some blond into it. First session was a mess of ugly green and copper getting pulled from my hair in different places due to the multiple different homemade dye jobs. Luckily Becca came up with a plan when this all happened and through a couple different processes slowly starting fixing the mess. Now my hair is looking great and I don't plan on stop considering she's also been keeping my hair super healthy throughout the lightening process. I'm gonna go ahead and put a picture up too so everyone can see how much lighter she's gotten it in just two sessions versus how dark my hair was at the start. Jessica has been doing my hair since I can remember! She is amazing, I am always happy with the results. She really knows what she is doing. She understands textures of your hair and knows what cuts and styles will look good with that texture. I have very straight and heavy hair but she always makes it look voluminous. Even after all of these years of highlighting my hair is still as healthy as ever! She always uses great product on my hair and styles it perfectly! I've been hair-stylist hopping for a few years now. I would just go where ever I could find a groupon or something and never go back because the difference between the groupon price and the actual price was waaaaay too much. After my visit to the salon on Thursday I can safely say I've found my new hair home at Refine with Becca! I came in with my hair pretty long and about a 4 month old ombré. I asked her to cut off about 8 inches to give me a lob (long bob) and to give me an ombré on my new short hair. I was a wee bit nervous since I've never had my hair that short but since I had looked at Becca's Instagram before I made the appointment I knew I was in good hands. She first washed my hair, cut it and then blew it dry to make sure it laid correctly and went back in to give it more dimension and shape. Then she began to color my hair using two different shades of blonde to give it a more natural and dimensional look. I'm pretty sure what she gave me is considered a bayalage (as opposed to just a plain ol' ombré) and it is PERFECT. Exactly what I wanted! Lighter near the face but still looks sunkissed and natural. No harsh lines or streaks. She took her time applying the color and went back in and added some more before rinsing me off to make sure it was just right. I could tell it was perfect right after she rinsed me and I feel like that's a true test of if your color is good or not - if it looks good wet! Haha. After she blew my hair dry and I saw the finished product I was in love! For my haircut and color is was $155, which I consider to be a steal since I've been quoted $300-400 for the same thing in LA! She did such an amazing job and I will for sure be coming back for cuts and colors. read more
