I've been here a few times now and I really like the energy here. It's more like a homey family type of vibe. It's really casual but still well kept, organized, and clean, always professional. Pricing is reasonable. This is not the type of place where you are in and out in 1 hour. This salon offers you an experience. A relaxing shampoo massage followed by free therapy and positive conversation from neighboring clients and stylists. I have only gone to Jocelyn and she is amazing! She did a high ponytail extension and braids for me and my toddler. She also does braids for my husband as well. Her work is always 10/10. Will not be returning ever again . Go for cheap service. Get cheap service. (Ended up going to another stylist that was an extra 250 fthat gave me exactly what I wanted with the info I needed for my hair) I came in for a hair dye on non-virgin hair. I already knew what to expect going in with the patchiness from a previous dye and dampness from my hair going in (sat under a dryer, no issue with that) . My problem was with the service from the stylist and process. Not having knowledge about my hair and doing many experiments with products, I finally decided to come in for a trim and to dye over what mess my hair was prior. All while asking how to maintain my hair in its dry and frizzy state. (SHE WAS NO HELP WHATSOEVER) "something moisturizing" was a consistent answer. Like really lady? You see my hair. Okay I ask "is there a way to fix the texture problem?" No helpful answer. I just stopped asking. I chose the owner of the salon to do my hair expecting more than I should have. I seriously could've done this at home. Hair is finished and I'm not liking my hair at all but understand things can be fixed so I give a question one last shot after I pay. Now I ask for a product recommendation for my hair for the 4th time "try some cantu with avocado" . Like that product line was going to do something for my hair in its state. You were no help Tonya. I will not be returning and really hope people do not run into the same problem. read more

I have been to Tonya twice now and she is the only hairdresser I know who knows how to cut my curly hair properly. The Deva cut is expensive, but worth it to give a great shape that will grow nicely. I tried less expensive hairdressers for my in-between trims, but they make big messes of the shape/structure Tonya provides. I will be going to her for all of my trims from now on. I'm going to save my review of the cut at the end as that's the sole reason why I'm rating this so low. Tonya and her salon were very nice and professional. I had no complaints trying to get an appointment. I even got to my appointment really early and they were very accommodating by helping me out 15 mins early. That being said - the cut was horrible. I waited to post my review until my hair grew out so I could see what kind of shape it would grow into. This was my first time experiencing a devacut and Tonya came highly recommended without me having to drive deep into Los Angeles. I primarily came seeking a new cut since the last cut was also a train wreck. The previous person who gave me a haircut tried giving me a curly cut but clearly had no idea what they were doing. Tonya was understanding of my situation and I knew I was going to have to cut my hair really short to even everything out. I had no problem with that - I even told her to cut everything she needed off. No complaints there. She proceeded with the cut and then washed my hair. After she washed my hair she could see my left side was almost 2 inched uneven. She proceeded to cut that side more and styled it. Everything looked cool and overall was pretty okay with how everything turned out. 3 Months later, my hair grew a few inches and my hair was horribly uneven and any of the layers I got were completely flat. My hair had little to no volume to it. I had to leave my hair in a pony tail for a few more months to let it grow out. I knew it was all going to be cut off and that's exactly what happened with the next stylist. My hair has grown out with this new hair cut with the same time frame and it's a complete night and day difference from this devacut. read more

I think people need to have an understanding that if you have damaged hair from years of heat styling and using non CGM products, a DevaCurl hair cut is not going to magically give them the moisturized luscious curls they desire in one go. That being said, I'm super happy with how my hair cut came out. Tonya took the time to really listen to what I wanted, and she delivered. I went to Tonya on Friday May 13 for 2 services: color correction and virgin tint color (total cost with well deserved tip was $346.50). Before my appointment, I had a color consultation with Tonya and she recommended me to allow the current color I had (see BEFORE pics) to faded out over time, so she could see the how much my hair color was lifted. She also advised me to get what process and products the other stylist used in my hair so she could correct my hair with as much knowledge possible. When I contacted the other stylist she refused to disclose her process, so Tonya had to proceed with without that knowledge. And let me tell you, although Tonya didn't have that information, she was still able to correct my color and keep my curls healthy and defined! Tonya had to process my hair in different sections and time because my color was done so unevenly. Tonya managed to get my whole color even and applied this beautiful luscious red (see AFTER pics). I'm so in love with my results. Tanya is very knowledgeable about color and natural hair. She takes her time with her clients and she's very honest about her services and how she does each process. I had a Deva cut by Tonya yesterday. I absolutely love it. She cut about 6-8 inches off and styled an adorable, sassy bob just like the picture I showed her. I would definitely recommend her to my friends with curly hair and I'll be back for a trim regularly. I feel like the price is pretty fair ($95.00); it's expensive but you can't get a good cut like that from a novice. The salon is pretty laid back and everyone was nice but not overly talkative.
