I would not recommend working with Patrick. After being billed for landscape lighting work I could not clearly identify, I asked for clarification on where the work had been completed. This is a reasonable request for any customer reviewing an invoice. When I later called to cancel a scheduled walkthrough, Patrick became very defensive and the conversation turned argumentative. He repeatedly interrupted me and insisted I had accused him of lying, which I did not. I was asking for clarification about the work performed. In addition, I received an unintended voicemail in which he was speaking with his wife, using profanity while complaining about my questions. During that conversation, his wife remarked, "geez, what do we have to wear cameras on all the jobs we do now?" Hearing a contractor speak this way about a customer was unprofessional and concerning. After this experience, I had another landscaping company review the work. They identified incomplete items, including an exposed wire that had not been buried and posed a tripping hazard, and completed the necessary fixes. Their pricing was also lower when broken down by line items and materials. Clear, respectful communication and accountability for billed work are basic expectations. Based on this experience, I would not work with him again and would recommend comparing other providers before moving forward. read more

I needed diagnosis and repair of a number of landscaping lights - up lights and path lighting. Patrick responded promptly and looked at my issue and scheduled the repairs for a few days later. He told me that it probably would run $500 plus/minus and he ended up billing me $579 which was reasonable for the work done. In the end, my lights are now all working, he identified a few problems I did not know we had, ran new wiring to two fixtures and I am now very happy. Very professional and customer focused. Patrick Ryan & Dalton did an amazing job of installing new lighting for my front & back yards...Looks absolutely beautiful...my neighbors have come over to comment on how great the house looks. From the first meeting with Patrick to the completion of the work everything about the process has been flawless. They had to remove all the old lighting before installing the new fixtures...what a job...some had been hidden well beneath the shrubs, in fact they found old lights I forgot we had! One of the aspects that sets Refined Lighting apart is when they are through you would never know that everything had been torn up for the install. Patrick is amazing. He is professional, personable and very good at what he does. It is obvious he knows a great deal about lighting and loves what he does.
