I had a pinhole and a PVC pipe I wanted fixed and normally I would do it myself, but I have an important day coming up and didn't want to break a nail or get a scraped up... so I put out a conversation on yelp last night and narrowed it down to three people. He arrived properly at 8 AM the next day as discussed and had the materials in the truck to fix the small project. When asking him about the cost of the repair he said they have a minimum of $100 for a small project like this and I told him that would be great. The tube was cut. The glue was placed and the new extension works just fine. I was getting quotes from plumbers for over $300. A valuable trade, indeed, however not for a little splicing of a PVC pipe. read more

We found Oasis Landscape Design through HomeAdvisor.com. As a well-seasoned home owner, I went in with my eyes wide open and fully aware that in today's world, words and deeds are sometimes only loosely connected. Some contractors view commitments as intentions, but plus or minus a week or a month is more than acceptable. I've also been around long enough to know that some contractors deem a project "done" as soon as the money rests in the palm of their hand. I had a relatively small patio I wanted redone. Javier said he would be there at 8 a.m. You bet - I've heard that before. He showed up when promised. He said he could start the job at 8 a.m. the following morning for what seemed to be to be a reasonable price. You bet - again, I was suspicious. At 8:00 a.m. the following morning, the patio was being prepped. The tile was delivered. It was completed before the day was done. The work was done with the highest standards of quality. It was as if I'd been transported in time to when a person's word was indeed a bond. Was I dreaming? The entire experience was so surprisingly good, I wondered if his team could handle a much bigger job at my primary residence. He said he'd be there at 8:00 a.m. to give us an estimate. He showed up as promised. He said the price would be a fixed amount that I deemed reasonable. He said they would start the following day. A crew of about eight workers was on the job the following morning as promised. They worked like machines for a week tearing out the old and installing the new. The work was masterfully completed. They dealt with the unexpected problems that arise on every job with mastery and without complaint. On every single count from pricing to commitments, from quality to aesthetics, my expectations were exceeded. My comments have been so positive, you may be wondering... OK, what's the catch? Here it is. It cost me a dinner at a great Scottsdale restaurant. It turns out that in his off hours, Javier is an extremely accomplished singer with a Spanish Flamingo dance group that sometimes plays at a top-notch restaurant. We asked another couple to join us one evening to see our "tile guy" perform and we felt obligated to pay for their dinner (and they're big eaters). Javier got us a stage-side table and we enjoyed a great meal with fabulous entertainment, entertainment that was exceeded only by the quality of the tile work he'd done for us. I woke up this morning to the unpleasant news that a large palo verde tree in the front yard of my PhoenIx home had fallen onto the sidewalk and my neighbor's yard. i was out of town at the time it occurred, so I sent out a Yelp request shortly before 7am Phoenix time for service to a number of landscape companies. Oasis was quick to respond and had someone out within less than an hour to quote the job. I could see from Yelp that they were one of the few companies that were licensed and insured, so I felt reassured in using their company. By around 2pm I received pictures of the site completely cleaned up and my other large tree nicely pruned. I would definitely use Oasis again in the future! read more

Javier even brought the crew lunch both days and they only stopped for 30 minutes. Originally we wanted to use concrete block But Javier suggested pavers for the same price. The project was a re-do of my ancient irrigation system. What I liked: *Javier suggested reading all of Oasis' reviews on HomeAdvisor. That told me he was confident of his reputation. *His irrigation work came with a 10 year warranty. The two other companies I solicited bids from for irrigation work did not tell me about their warranty. *His crew showed up on time and did professional work. *After the work was done, I noticed issues that needed correction. Javier was very responsive. His crew returned the same day. He even called later to make sure the crew had showed up. What I didn't like: *No one inspected after the job was completed. There was a fair amount of litter. Some of my landscaping had been disturbed. There was even a leak in the newly installed system. They came back to pick the debris up and fix the leak. After they left I found a cigarette butt and many pieces of old drip line and 1/2" tubing, plus a newly exposed 3' section of Cox cable and 4' section of wiring to my outdoor lights. Also, many of my old drippers were left in place. read more

In mid August we hired Oasis Landscape to do monthly maintenance. At that time we paid $1500.00 to have several trees pruned. Unfortunately the work was not satisfactory and Javier, the owner, agreed and told us that the next monthly maintenance would be free. Since we did not hear back we hired a new landscaper in late September. About two weeks ago my wife was in the family room when she saw someone coming in to the back yard. When she asked him what he was doing he replied that he was there for the landscape cleanup. She told him to leave as we had already hired a new landscaper. Later that day we notice that he had already done pruning in the front and left all the branches and clippings. I tried contacting Oasis, leaving messages, over several days but never heard back, Finally my wife and I cleaned up the mess ourselves. Yesterday we received a bill for September maintenance. Oasis Landscape Design just completed work on our yard. They installed a completely new irrigation system, grass, shrubs, cactus, agave, and flowering ornamental plants. They also removed our old gravel and replaced with smaller 1/4 clean gravel (our dog was eating the larger rocks). They did an Amazing job!! We couldn't be happier!!! I will make every attempt to combine brevity and thoroughness but I fear the thoroughness will override the brevity. After checking online for reviews of landscapers, "Oasis" popped up as one of the best, BE AWARE, THERE are many "Oasis'" landscapers and this one with the phone numbers listed above is not one of the good ones. My house is 24 years old, although I am a new owner of the house, and the irrigation system needed to be replaced. After several bids, Javier was a good salesman and he seemed sincere. I went with him, and paid my 50% up front. The day after the job was completed, a Saturday, in July, Javier showed up at 7:30am asking for the other 50%. He was on it to collect his money. At that time we had agreed to $100 per month for maintenance. Later I was told by Jose that the $100 was not for monthly yard maintenance but for 1 hour per month. That was not the verbal agreement we had. 1. His crew, unsupervised put in the irrigation but left huge amounts of the old irrigation system just laying around. - besides this trash, they also left their disposable lunch containers all over the property. 2. I called, someone came out and agreed this needed to be corrected, but no one came to clean up. 3. I was just put back on my spot on the monthly rotation list. However each month I had to call after some one "supposedly" came due to virtually nothing being done. Jose would agree that work he told his crdew to do they did not do. Even the trash was left for 3 months, and then only a portion of the old irrigation was picked up. 4. Although I would call each month and wonder if someone was coming, I was told they had already come. I was adamant that someone come out and look for themselves at the poor quality of what was done. Jose came out two times and Javier once and they always agreed with me that the work was not performed well. 5. Even though each time they would agree that their crew did not do an adequate job, never was a crew sent back to do they job, although I was billed each month none-the-less. Because most of my plants died after Oasis put in the new irrigation, Jose kept insisting that the cactus and certain trees didn't need water since they were desert plants anyway. What he did not account for was the fact that these cacti were used to receiving water from the previous irrigation system and due to the unusually hot conditions this year most plants died due to insufficient water. Prior to the new irrigation system , my yard was beautiful. They came back at one point and planted some small cactus as replacements, and at that time their crew, yet again unsupervised, BROKE THE HEADS OFF APPROXIMATELY 10 OF THE DRIP LINES. Of course I called and again Jose agreed his crew did a poor job and he fixed the broken drip heads, he agreed the irrigation trash was still left and the other plants were not trimmed, and he could not understand why certain green plants were still dying. It was at this time that Jose questioned me and asked, "are you going to be one of those problem customers?" I said, "I am not a problem customer but if the work I pay for does not get done, then yes, I would complain". Still no crew was sent back to fix the inadequate job previously done that they billed me for. The final straw was this month, November, when their crew came out and stayed for 14 minutes. Yes, 14 minutes. Be aware, this is not a good company and they do sloppy work, and make no attempts to correct their problems. read more
