I typically don't review non-food spots but I just had to say that 1. I am glad this is a neighborhood staple & 2. The prices are reasonable here & 3. Rehana is great. She managed to give me a blow out under an hour & I have pretty long & thick hair. In addition to that she was really nice & simply fun to talk to, an added bonus if you ask me. Next time I get my hair cut, I will go back to Reflection Hair Salon for Rehana (albeit I'm sure everyone here is great hence they've been around for so many years)! read more

I called to make an appointment for a curly hair cut. I asked if they' have experience with textured hair and the lady didn't seem to know what I was referring to (I didn't have an issue explaining this to her. as some people truly just aren't aware). She asked when I wanted to come in, I asked for the first Tuesday of October, she placed me on hold and when she came back, she said that they were fully booked for that day. I asked for the following day and she said they are booked that day as well. When I asked when the next availability was she said December. When I asked for a December appointment and for the next availability, she said we are not scheduling for December and she'd have to call me back. I was already skeptical making an appointment with them as they don't have any women of color advertised in pictures, but I wanted to give them a chance, but I've never had to book a haircut in September for December. read more

This place is a scam for hair straightening. I wasted $300 here. Went to this place twice( wasted 6hours) and they were not able to fix my hair. They will push you to use hair straightener after permanent hair straightening and you will be told if you do not use the straining iron your hair will become curly and frizzy again. They will give you hair cut even if you tell them that you don't need a cut .My hair dresser was Peter and he was continuously talking about his wife and was telling me how he is not happy with his wife. I even asked him if his wife is aware of all these conversations he is having with his clients and he told me it is funny. My customers love it when I tell them that I am annoyed with my wife (fact check- I am not interested). Save your money and do some more research, find a better place to invest your money. I am really very Disappointed.They will take your no for sure. They will never call you for the appointment again to remind you.Very bad keratin treatment. and I spend $200 and after 2 days when I wash my hair it totally damage not all keratin treatment gone. so It waste of $200. when we went there she told me she will do it for another time.we book the appointment for 12.30 pm. When we call at 12 pm to confirm they told me it was 10.30 am you missed it we can't do anything. When you book the appointment they will tell you your keratin will stay for 12-16 weeks. They don't do curly hair, and if you have an appointment they will still complain about having to blow it out. Went there for a cut and all I heard was complaints and jokes. They messed up my cut and I had to have someone else fix it because the person cutting my hair couldn't see it was 2 inches longer on on side (totally lopsided). Do not come here. They are so rough. Some lady didn't even put conditioner in my hair so that they could claim my hair was more damaged than it was. & then the guy who was cutting my hair kept tugging at my earrings when he was brushing my hair!!!! Very disappointed.. I went here last week Thursday for a wedding wanted an updo. I made an appointment with Gina. I tell her what I want lots of volume and a swoop in the front with braids. I show her a picture of exactly what I want. She says I have " broken hair" which i never heard before. It's going to be hard for her to do. The front desk lady was extremely rude I tell them my cousin is coming also with her daughter they are out of town. I recommend this place to my poor cousin she calls and makes an appointment and tells her what she wants. Nothing complicated.. a simple curls for her daughter and a braid with a jewel for her. The front desk woman is rolling her eyes at her telling her that's not what you said on the phone. My cousin is speaking so softly and nicely to her. Anyway Gina finishes mine and I go to pay they charge $78! I said last time i paid 75 she said it's cuz ur using credit card even though i used card last time too. I didn't have time to argue i was running super late to my makeup appointment because of them . She is taking her time looking in the computer for something she's being extremely rude. Peter is telling my cousin he can't do it they have other appointments. But there was no other customer in the salon except us!!! She charged my cousin 65 for a simple braid and her daughters curls all came out by the start of the wedding! Beware these people just want to rip you off. I came in for a "trim". I even told the guy working on my hair that I know my ends are bad and uneven so don't cut it off. What does he do? He cuts it all off. I was so upset! Now my hair is so short. I understand he was making my hair healthy but if you're selling a service, you have to listen to what the consumer wants regardless if it's not advised. This was my first visit to Reflections and it won't be my last. A close friend referred this salon, so I already went there with a general good opinion of the place. As soon as I walked in I was greeted, seated and even offered coffee! When you tell a business customer service is your focus, Reflections is the paragon. I've been to salons on the upper east side they have never greeted me this way. Customer service is not their only strong suit they have a full team of very talented and passionate hair stylist. I had the pleasure of getting an appointment with Peter. My main reason for the visit was to color over my highlights. I had crazy highlights all over the place. Please see pictures attached. I didn't want to have them toned or corrective, I only wanted to recolor over everything and go back to my natural color as possible. Now this is the good part. I have never met someone who can look at the color of hair and know the dye. Peter looked at my roots for a few seconds and came back out and was ready to dye my hair. I felt a little nervous, but when I saw how the color came out I knew I shouldn't have worried in the first place. I also wanted a little trim, so my hair could feel completely fresh and renewed. Peter's skills are not only colorist but also cutting. My hair has never been cut so neat! I even requested to keep mindfully of the length because I'm trying to grow out my hair and he did everything he could to keep my length and make sure my ends where healthy for my hair to grow. I already recommended serval family member to check out reflections and experience this one of a kind salon. Here are some lights for those that don't want to ready my essay above. 1. I've been getting my hair done by Terri and her husband Pete for almost my entire life. From the little chair in her house to this salon in Floral Park. Not only does they always do a wonderful job but they surely are great people. She has done cuts, colors, up-dos, down styling, and most importantly has straightened my hair for over 10 years. As a 16th birthday present I started Japanese straightening and it has made my life insanely easier despite my crazy schedule. I would trust this couple-- and their stylists-- with anything. My hair is as healthy as can be and I routinely get compliments on anything she does. It may be in an odd spot in town and they do not advertise but that should be nothing but an added influence to stop in. They rely on word-of-mouth referrals and take care of friends and family. Came to this spot to get a trim but to get my split ends taken care of. I told Peter to keep the length, but if he had to shorten it, it was okay Bc of how bad my split ends were. While he was cutting, I thought he was barely doing anything... he kept trimming but it seemed like my length remained the same and it didn't have an order to how he was cutting my hair, but the end result was exactly what I wanted! I was really disappointed during my last "visit". The person I scheduled my apportionment with (two weeks prior) made an error and scheduled it for the wrong date. When I arrived the stylist informed me that I was scheduled for the week before. I expressed that I had an event to attend that day and relied on this apt. She did not apologize or try to accommodate for THEIR error. She did not seem remorseful at all and the woman sitting at the front desk made comments that made me feel like it was my fault.
