I recently moved to Chicago and was very anxious about finding a Stylist here. I've seen the same person (flying back home still) for 20 plus years and am very loyal because we're now just not friends but family. However, I do need a backup plan for when I can't make it home. I was 3 months of hair growth in, (a 6-8 week faithful visit customer) when I decided I had to try someplace here! I walked into Reflektion and was greeted by the very pleasant and kind young lady at the desk. (My apologies her name escapes me) but she was lovely and made my appt for that same evening with Krystal! Once I returned I was given a tour by this same young lady, as well as an explanation of the salon and all their areas/services, to include the charging station where I could sit to wait for my appt while charging my phone. Equipped with magazines, coffee and offered Wine if you like? Of course I do....and had 2 glasses! Krystal then sat down next to me to listen, look at my pictures and hear my anxiety and struggle with trying someone new. Krystal was Super Sweet and did an Awesome job! I asked her not to be offended that I won't be a regular per say, as I'm still loyal to my guy at home, whenever I can get there! However, I'm happy to say that Krystal is my new backup plan here in Chicago!! I won't need to look any further, this place is Perfect! Loved my experience with Madison! It was my first time at this salon, and it's so close to my apartment that I wish I'd come here sooner. Madison did a great job explaining what products she was using and why, which made me feel more informed and confident about purchasing and using them after my appointment. I have very fine, thick, wavy hair, and she was able to give me an awesome cut that felt so much lighter and more manageable. When I first walked in, Jackie gave me a tour and explained everything to me from the sources of the products that they use to their green/recycling program. They even have wine/beer for you to drink if you're looking for something with more kick than water/coffee/tea. They even have a phone charging station if you get there early or if you're waiting for your color to be done. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. I find that when I typically go to a salon for a haircut they rush through and just chop off a few inches no matter what I actually ask for. That is absolutely not the case with RefleKTion salon. I first tried this salon in 2016 when I lived less than a block away and have been hooked ever since. I previously had done online discount promotions at 2-3 other salons in Lakeview and didn't love the haircut, color or style I received. I started with Madison and she did a fantastic job of listening to what my haircare routine was and how I could improve. Then she recommended cuts and colors that would be flattering but also in my wheelhouse for maintenance. I just recently moved to the Lakeview East area, and I was searching for a new hairstylist. I was sad to leave the previous hairstylist I was with, but she was just too far away. I really based my decision to go to Reflektion based on the reviews of other Yelpers. Let me thank my fellow Yelpers because I was really impressed with the staff at Reflektion. It was extremely easy to book an appointment with the stylists. Their schedule was available online, and depending on what type of service you are looking for it will fill you in. A reminder email was sent everyday leading up to my appointment. The day of my appointment, I was a few minutes early. Madison welcomed me to the salon, and gave me a tour. Kudos to a hair salon who can be environmentally friendly!! The atmosphere is very relaxing and the stylist's stations are open. There are beautiful mirrors placed throughout the salon. The stylist I made an appointment with was Diego. Let me tell you, he's fantastic. He really took the time the get to know you, why you came, your best experience at a hair salon, and how he can help you in anyway. Diego is really knowledgeable and explains everything he does before doing it. Reflektion uses O&M products, which does not have sulfates, parabans, and other harsh chemicals. Even the coloring line is through O&M. If you need your hair colored, their dyes do not have ammonia!! No more burning eyes from the harsh ammonia odors!! I really enjoyed my first appointment with Diego because you can tell this is what he loves to do. He is an extremely passionate person. I visited RefleKtion Boutique Salon for the first time yesterday and I am glad I did. Being a new mom and working full time has made it more difficult maintaining my hair. My hair lost its shine and didn't feel soft anymore. I got two treatments that made my hair look BEAUTIFUL once again. I came here a couple of months ago for a Keratin treatment. I loved the service and felt very well taken care of by everyone in the salon but unfortunately I don't think the type of Keratin treatment they used lasted as long as others I've had in the past. This might be because it's an all natural version, which I did appreciate, but don't know if I would pay for again. Madison's the first stylist in *ages* to do a good job with my super thick, long, unruly, wavy hair. She's a lot of fun to sit for -- we bonded over pets and our love for 90s alternative music -- yet very professional. Reflektion is a great, green salon around the corner from my apartment (major convenience points). I hate getting my hair done, but the cozy atmosphere and wine definitely make up for it. AMAZING experience with DIEGO! Needed a good color, as my hair was a wreck from previous box dyes. He was very honest with his opinions, and answered all questions I had. I had my first haircut and color at this warm, inviting salon a week ago. I was referred by my acupuncturist whose practice, Chicago Healing Center's tag line is "healing begins with being heard". So I wasn't surprised that owner Katie spent a fair amount of time listening to my concerns and helping me to decide what i wanted (I knew more about what I didn't want). At one point I apologized for being so unclear and she immediately said, "no worries--it's my job to ask the right questions". I was happy with the cut and color and went directly from the salon to produce a 5-day public event where I received many compliments on my new haircut. I have rarely liked a haircut on the second day when all of the salon effects have worn off. But the styling held up fine over the course of the week and I am delighted. I had Jenn LaGioia as my stylist and absolutely loved her and my cut/color. I am very particular about my hair, with still being very low maintenance. I explained to Jenn I am getting ready for my engagement pics, while also keeping in mind I will be getting another color closer to the wedding. My hair was longggg and about 4 inches of it was completely dead. Jenn cut what we needed to and gave my hair great texture at the same time. The color she added is subtle but will photograph well in a few weeks, and grow out seamlessly when I get it colored before my wedding. She also used a gloss and products that i loved. Their products, music, ambiance, and staff are great! They even have a tea bar, which I really loved as it's getting so chilly!
