If you've been to a recycling place where they weigh your recyclables, you park/walk up, place your items in the trash cans, they place your items on a scale, and then give you paper to cash in the office. They took over from what appears to be an old gas station. It's a recycling center so floor can be sticky. You grabbing old trash cans so wear gloves and closed toe shoes for some type of protection. So we have been going here for can/bottle recycling, but I've been collecting a crud ton of metal, car parts, house parts etc.etc. Alum/Steel/CastIron etc. I drove down today with a couple of car heads and a ton of take off suspension parts and misc electrical motors, AC comp/alternator etc. They were helpful, explained that if I give them clean alum it's more than double the price, but leaving the bushings in the alum a-arms etc reduces the value.. I can't say they pay top dollar, nor can I say they are low on the scale, it's not my gig "recycling metal", but getting paid for it, vs tossing it out, seems like a win win. Had a bunch of plastic bottles to recycle. Came here on a Saturday a little after lunch. I was so glad it wasn't too busy. Been here a few times now and there was always a line of people. This is by far one of the best places I've been to for recycles. They have great customer services. Once you pull up, a worker will bring bins to your car to fill with recyclables. They even help bring the bins to the line after you're done filling the bins. Then when you're up, they quickly do the weigh in. It was quick and easy. Even cashing in the office was fast. The woman was nice and professional. Cash out is much better than other places. With the best service for recyclables, it's no brainer if I'll return. read more

Been coming here for about a year now and have been unloading my car by myself, as one would expect. When I parked this morning, a gentlemen/staff member brought bins, helped me unload my car and emptied all the cans/plastic bottles into the bins! I've never had this level of customer service before. Perhaps they hired on more staff during the weekends. Hands down unexepected. Great customer service experience! They also have great rates. I was told about this recycling center by a co worker so I decided to try it I usually go to a place in Hayward. The staff person I worked with at the recycling center was very friendly and helped me get all my cans and plastic bottles out of my plastic bags. He also helped me to get in line to get my items weighed. It was very busy when I was there but the line moved fast. I got everything weighed and just took my receipt to the cashier and collected my money. I will definitely go back next time when it's time to recycle again. read more

Went to the center on Saturday afternoon and it was very busy. I was behind at least five trucks just to drop off some metal sheets. Did not need the money. The lead worker saw me and had a fork lift driver bring me a container and took all the metal from my car. What a great bunch of workers! Always there to help out. These guys are fair and honest. (Not all recycling centers are.) They move very quickly and have the flow moving right along. This is a great alternative to going to the county dump. I think they move about 3x the speed of the guys over at the county recycling place. read more

Each tare weight of the plastic containers must be shown to the sellers, but Refund Recycle Center automatically skips this step. All the empty containers are absolutely not the same weights. Your assumption on tare weight for profit will cost the sellers! read more

I give Refund Recycle Center 5 stars since this is the only recycling center still open to the public in the tri valley. The down side of this is that it is always busy now. Due to my littles doing online school for 6.5+ hours a day (no joke and maybe you can guess which school district with that statement); I come here one Saturday a month. The line moves pretty quickly; but, it is frustrating when I barely have a 13 gallon garbage bag and mostly everyone else has an entire truck load. I always get stares..really...they don't hold back here..so I assume it's because they're silently laughing to themselves wondering why I even make an attempt to recycle. Still, it feels good to do my part and if I'm in the area; I might as well recycle and feel that I did my duty to make this world a better place. If Pleasanton ever opens up their recycling center again; I'll start going there. Otherwise, I'll stop by here once a month while others stare at my one bag. Also, I was told that the tip jar outside is for the workers outside to split. If you tip inside; it only goes to the one office worker. Those guys outside work their 'okole off! read more

This is a great place to recycle and you need; cans & plastic water bottles. It was pretty quick service. Make sure you separate can and plastics. They gave us huge bags and trash bin to put our recycling in. They also helped. Very kind of them. Recommended. Fair prices. read more

I checked online before even loading my car and nowhere did it say they were closed! Only upon arrival does it say on a paper sign that they are closed til JANUARY 6th!?!?!?! What a giant waste of time and energy!!! Warning!!! No one that does the normal can/plastic recycling speaks English besides a few common words so don't even try asking about CA CRV that we are all supposed to get being ca. residents. So if you live across town, don't even bother! read more

The friendly employees are helpful at getting the items recycled in an orderly fashion. They are very helpful and fast at getting the items weighed and receipt given. I'll start with the good, they have a great system of getting multiple people through quickly and efficiently. The bad, I brought in over 6 months worth of recycling, they started pulling things out like crazy and chucking them from my plastic bins. I asked why and they said it doesn't say CRV. I explained that I checked each thing and they said CRV on them but also ask for you to remove the label to recycle which I did. The person I talked to did not care and just kept chucking containers out of my bins. So there went over 6 months of my collected cold brew containers (photos below to prove when the bottles say). Then they started on my glass and pretty much only took beer bottles out and then said the rest doesn't work for CRV even though I know more had CRV on the bottles! I went to check to prove it to them but they had smashed broke most of the glass because they were shaking and pounding the bin on the ground. So I cut myself trying to prove it (which is totally my fault) but just super frustrating that they wouldn't take time to look at bottles before carelessly breaking them. Never had a bad experience here, though it's loud dirty, & stinky. We usually do the normal CA redemption value returns, now wine bottles and bags are included, along with other juice bottles. They also take recycle scrap metal. One group had a Uhaul truck they were unloading from of scrap metal. Though the glass, plastic aluminum is separated by the cashiers office in the middle. read more

Parking can be a challenge but on a Friday early afternoon was able to get a spot right up front. Process is fast and staff is courteous. You need to fill up provided trash cans with your separated glass, plastic and aluminum cans. I only filled up 2 garbage cans. I did get behind a guy would must have had 1000's of aluminum cans. I know there is a weight limit but don't remember what it was. They checked his ID and even took picture of his truck. I would go through this process again if not too crowded. Easy and straightforward recycling center. No guessing on the prices per lbs. A lot of the small recycling centers are closing or have closed but this location also recycles scrap metal too. It's best to go during weekday because weekends are very busy unless you arrive when the business opens. read more

And there aren't very many recycling facilities in the Tri Valley are anymore. But these guys are fair and reasonable and get you in and out as quickly as possible. read more

Establishments like this recycling center are a major reason we are happy we've settled down in Livermore. As a family with young kids, we always take them along when we recycle, so they can learn about the benefits and observe the process first hand. So we appreciate being able to pull up in our van and pop the trunk while a staff member walks over with large bins to unload our glass, cans and plastic, weighs it all and then comes back with a printed receipt. At which point all you need to do is stand in line to get paid for your good recycling habits. Doesn't get much easier than that. The staff here is amazingly friendly and polite, and they give you your money with thanks and a smile. And prices are excellent as well. So come on over - no excuse not to recycle, at least not if you're a Livermore resident! read more
