This review is long overdue! Our local neighborhood watch group was in its infancy, and our first big project was planning for the annual National Night Out street party in August 2018. Unfortunately, time was super short and funds were even shorter. Our planning committee knew we needed to solicit some donations, so we wrote a letter and put out our feelers - not expecting much from anyone. Imagine our surprise to get an immediate response! After getting a flat with a new tire with less than 1000 miles on it, I thought the dealer would help me out and replace the tire minus the labor costs. Nope! They told me I had a bent rim and a new tire wouldn't even hold air if it was replaced. They gave me a a price on a replacement rim of $339! Forget about it, I'll do some research. After a couple of calls and referrals later I got the phone number for Rock & Roll Auto Recycling. I called, they did a search, and had my rim available used for $75! I thought this could be a real bargain or a piece of crap. I drove down to their shop, they were able to pull the part quickly, no issues with the part, and hassle free! If you need a salvaged auto part and want to save more than a couple of bucks, give these guys a call! read more

My mom backed into a pole it cracked open her tail light and instead of waiting days for a new tail light assembly to come in from the interwebs, my mechanic told me about rock and roll. The though of me going to a pick'n pull type place sounded fun but then I realized I have no tools or the time to wander through out the yard to find what I was looking for. I called over and the gentelman on the phone looked up my part and said he had three in stock. An hour later I arrive and told him I was the one who called. He grabbed his glove and went out back and about 5 minutes later came back with the part. It was fast, simple and I was on my way in about 10 minutes. read more

After finding a listing for a used car part on their website I did my due diligence and called Rock & Roll Auto Recycling and had them confirm that the part was in stock and that it was exactly what they had advertised online. Based on this call I took several hours off of work and drove the 20+ miles to their location. Once I got there it eventually became obvious that the part was not all what they had listed online and what we had discussed on the phone. It took over an hour to figure this out because it was extremely difficult to get any assistance, the one person taking calls and answering questions seemed completely overloaded while the other two employees were apparently not assisting any customers. I ultimately had to go out in the yard myself in 100 degree heat and look up the chassis code for the vehicle, and then after a brief argument with the parts guy he looked up the part on his computer and realized they had listed it incorrectly. Perhaps they were just overloaded, but I still ended up wasting hours of my time due to an easily avoidable mistake on their part. I will not be visiting this business again. read more

I bought a transmission from these guys for my Toyota Prius and came all the way from San Francisco when the transmission was ready I asked them to show me some kind proof that the transmission was 86,000 miles, oh man this guy got all crazy started yelling screaming saying "THAT'S AN INSULT AND IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT YOU CAN GET THE F OUT HERE" I have never seen someone so rude and crazy for a simple question I spent $500 on the transmission I think I have a right to ask. These guys are great! My wife had a freak accident with the garage door that took out the back window on her SUV. After talking with Dave to narrow down the correct part, I sent her down to pick up the new window and figure out whether any other parts needed to be replaced. (I wouldn't normally send her out on her own to deal with auto repair, but R&R came highly recommended.) Only a few hundred dollars later and an hour or so later, the window was fully repaired. Rather than leave us to figure out how to get it installed, they referred us to a neighboring glass shop to install it. Now that is great service! read more

I've been searching the last couple days for a replacement engine for my dads car which is in the shop(#2 cylinder is cracked on my dads Nissan Sentra(B14model). So I start searching for another motor that can be put in. I found Rock and Roll online and it looked promising that they might have the motor(ga16de) So I searched their site and they didn't have it. But I remember that Nissan made another car that looked and had the same chassis as the Sentra (Nissan 200sx), so i looked up that car and sure enough they had a motor for it(Sr20de). Now for the fun part, Im not a freakin highschool student trying to make a rice rocket, im coming close to 30 years old, im not an idiot when it comes to car stuff(Currently doing a full restoration on a 240z), but as soon as I get on the phone I knew before I asked my question that I was going to hang up pissed off. I tried doing some research on if this motor was compatible with the B14 Sentra(95-99) and didn't find too much online, even the forums were a little shaky on info. So I got on the phone with a guy seemed to be in his 40-50 year old range, I asked him if they had the part still at there facility or if the site is going to be off by a few days, he said "If you see we have it then we go it" So I asked him if that motor would fit right into the Sentra? He said, "Your not going to get any parts with it?" I was a little confused why he didn't say "yes" or "No", so I told him, no thats why im asking, I didn't know if I needed extra parts or if it will mate to the original parts since they are basically the same car and same series for the years made. I was told to hold on...waited a min or so and a woman came on and asked if she could help me, I told her that I was already being helped and she could take the next call(I shoulda talked to her instead, maybe I wouldn't be writing this review right now) The guy came back( I think he forgot about me or doesn't remember who's on hold) he said "How can I help you?" So I gave my question again and asked if that motor would mate to all the original parts on my dads Sentra, he then goes off and starts telling me I need to get another exhaust system, and ECU, and I asked him if they had any of that and he said "No you know what I have, you saw it online), he then put me back on hold... I should've just hung up the phone at that point, he made me wait almost 5 minutes...He came back on and said "How can I help you?" (Again, totally forgot he was talking to me, I think he was trying to get rid of me), I had asked if any of the old parts would fit my dads Sentra and I didn't want to buy parts that didn't have to be changed out if they are still direct fitting. I was done at that point, but Mr. Grumpy pants went off on me and said that im going to have a project just sitting there not going to work and Im going to have this motor not knowing what to do with it since I don't want to get all the right parts for the swap. I was pretty insulted by this guy, especially questioning me when it sounds like he trying to sell me things I don't even need. I was hoping this was going to be a good experience since I am restoring a car thats over 40 years old, parts are scarce and this place was close by and looked promising, too bad i'll never go there now since this phone call happened. I see they have 2 5 star reviews and 1 2 star, If anyone is going to go here, do yourself a favor and find the girl I talked to on the phone, you might have a good experience, but not from the older gentlemen. Advice to Rock and Roll Recycling- When you answer the phone to your potential customers, make sure you answer their question and give them a good experience to go to your shop and keep going back, don't forget who's on your lines and answer other calls that you think might be more beneficial then forgetting about the other lines. Also don't assume if someone is asking about a motor swap that they are a high schooler trying to build a rice rocket or whatever. Sometimes going to pick and pull is better because you don't have to talk to anyone, and that might be a good thing. Sorry Rock and Roll, you lost my business, maybe get rid of that older guy and I'll come back. read more

I purchased a vehicle from Rock & Roll a couple of months ago. They explained the entire process from the inspections to an "as is" sale. The owner did all of the paperwork, even the registration! It was effortless on my part. My husband and I signed a bunch of paperwork, paid for the vehicle and headed home (1 1/2 hours away). The car ran great. We were very pleased. I drove to work the next day and everything was fine. Then on my way home the check engine light came on. I flipped out and called my husband and he told me to come straight home. The next day I called Rock & Roll and they couldn't have been nicer. They asked me to bring it back and they will fix whatever needed to be repaired. I couldn't believe they were so nice. Remember this was an "as is" sale. They didn't have to do anything, but they did. A couple of days later they called and said it was ready. I'm not sure what they did but no more check engine light and it runs GREAT. Professional, courteous and a really upstanding business. read more

My 1998 Honda was stolen and all emission parts were stolen. Along with anything in the interior and trunk that could be removed by hand or a screwdriver. My insurance company fixed everything under the hood and I said I would replace all other parts. I located sun visors, floor mats, spare tire, jack, H emblem from trunk lid and tire tools at R n R. They said they would keep them 'in a box in their office" for me. The car was in the shop and I didn't know when I would get it back. I went over to Pleasanton from Crocket to pick up my parts and not only were they not inside their office they were not in a box. They were outside for anyone to steal. They were also collecting whatever fell from the overhead trees. The sun visors had no screws. These are special screws and I NEEDED sun visors! They sent their parts puller to get the screws. The tire changing tools consisted of one tool. I pointed out there were at least three tools needed to change a tire on this car. They sent the parts puller out back again and found a complete set of tire tools in their little bag. When I returned to Crockett I started putting in the floor mats. They had sold me two front passenger mats. They even said passenger side on the back. The driver's mat has two very specific, specially placed cut outs that need to be there or my trunk and gas door release will not work because they are covered up and I would have to pull out the mat from under the seat every time I wanted to use one or the other. There is no other way to pop the gas door. I emailed them the AM and it is now 2:30 and have heard nothing. I've scoured the internet and the only way to buy the front mat I need is if I buy all four mats. What kind of operation are they running? They new I was a senior woman to begin with. Maybe they thought they could do the minimum and that was good enough. They got over on me with the driver's side mat but forgot about Karma! They're sucks!!! read more

Having called previously to confirm, I made the 1/2hr drive to the yard to pick up a rebuilt transmission. While the item was bring pulled from the shelves out back, I paid, but when I finally saw it, it didn't have the shifter included. When I called previously, I had specifically asked if it had a shifter because I needed that as well, so I went back inside. Bruce said there must have been a misunderstanding as he thought I was asking about which shifter it accepts (there are, in fact, several versions of this transmission). I was about to say we should cancel the transaction when he simply said, "Don't worry, I'll find the shifter for you. I'm good at finding things." With this simple verbal agreement, I left. Bruce didn't let me down and called me later the same day, saying he found the part at another junk yard (not local) and was having it delivered to my home, at no cost to me. A couple days later, Susanne called me just to confirm I received it. These are good, honest folks and they'll be the first place I check for parts, even though they're not the closest. read more

These guys really are the greatest. I have been a complete thorn in their side for about a week now when the timing belt on my car snapped and damaged my engine. I originally got towed to one shop which quoted me an INSANE amount of money to get the repairs done. So, I called up Rock & Roll Recycling planning to salvage my car (which was a terrible feeling since it has less than 60,000 miles on it). Turns out they also do repairs here and quoted me over $1,000 less than the original place I took it to. I don't live in the area, I was in town when my car died on vacation. I came back up again a week later and have been bugging these guys about potentially getting a third opinion and still being unsure whether it was worth the repair cost and blah blah blah. They have been so patient and so nice during my stress meltdown that I am definitely getting the repairs done and would highly recommend anyone to use this company.
