The owner, Russ, was very accommodating and set me up for a tour starting only two hours later. Eventually the group grew to three people and Russ picked us up at the Hilton promptly at 11. This was exactly what I was looking for. I spent a very enjoyable four hours with Russ, who grew up in Alaska and who knows the state backwards and forwards. Russ has a great deal of civic pride as well! Russ gave us a comprehensive look at the after-effects of the big earthquake during the 60s, where entire homes were moved up to two or three city blocks! The ground shifted so much it made a once perfectly flat neighborhood into a neighborhood with lots of hills! Russ has a sharp eye for wildlife, and besides mountain goats and sheep, we actually got to see a moose! Ross absolutely loves his home state, and you will learn a lot driving around with him. And have a pretty good time doing it, as well!

On today's tour I learned that 99 million gallons of water flow under Matanuska Glacier each day; Glacial water comes out of her at 28 degrees & can freeze at 29 degrees; she is moving 12-16 inches a day(normal is 10 inches)and that a loud Popcorn sound IS never a good sound! We were not given much info beyond that however. First we were told that we were waiting for other passengers (who never showed up), then we were told we were waiting on the pilot (yet he had been there for over an hour drinking coffee and reading a newspaper before leaving and later returning). We were given no ETD and waited for several hours. We missed dinner with our hosts and it made an already long travel day even longer. As nice as it would be to be able to get directly from ANC to SOV, I would never depend on this service.

Called them to check availability, very kind and friendly to speak to over the phone. Booking was very easy. As I said, we booked over the phone, they E-Mailed us an invoice, and we paid online. Simple. We booked a day trip, and the trip to Katmai is split in two flights - one to King Salmon and one to Katmai. Views from the flight are absolutely beautiful. Nothing quite prepares you for how amazing it is flying into Katmai. I was worried that we came too late in the season to see any bears, but we saw two in the ocean as we were landing. Incredible. Definitely expensive. But 100% worth it. Highly recommend, would do it again.

They were absolutely phenomenal! They tailored the experience around our interest and experience (and maturity level to some extent). The guides took hundreds of photos and videos so we're could remain present in the moment and get the most is out the experience. They were all so much fun. Steve runs flight seeing and charter services from Anchorage to designated locations. We took his…read morefloat plane to Brooks Camp to watch bears catching salmon. He picked us up from our hotel and we flew for about 2.5 hours to destination. En route to Brooks Camp, he narrated the coast line, volcanoes, and the lakes and rivers underneath. Once we get there, he accompanied us to the viewing platform and then waited for us to return. He provided us home-made king salmon salad and several snack for lunch. On our way back, he took a different route over Lake Clarks and the valley with glaciers on both sides. We saw rivers with spawning salmons, bears and caribous wandering on grasslands. The flight was entertaining and safe. Steve was very knowledgeable about the area and told us many stories. We truly enjoyed the trip with him.
