The Regal Cinemas in August was a last minute plan. Their online ticket purchase was easy and the prices weren't bad. The theater is self was relatively clean and well kept. I read all the bad reviews before going here. Those don't normally deter me. I wanted to see Nosferatu for a second time and every showing within an hour drive was sold out except 8:00pm at this theater. I can confirm that most of what's in the bad reviews is correct. Except the poor service part. The people working were not the issue. I think the people going there must be absolute pigs. I won't describe what I saw in the bathroom but no one making less than minimum wage should have to clean that. Also when coming out of the movie and at least two of the aisles, it looked like someone had spilled half a bucket of large popcorn. Now I understand, dropping a few kernels here and there, but this appeared like someone just dumped it. The actual theater is pretty bad. I guess I totally forgot that theaters used to be flat. It just doesn't make sense. You've got the screen 10 feet off the ground and you're also sitting eye level with the black curtain underneath it. The sound was not surrounding us. It would suck if theaters were still set up this way. In fact, with the way, people's home theater systems are now I doubt anyone would even go to the movies if it was like this everywhere. Chairs are reclining but not very comfortable. Anyway I don't live here so I'll never be here again. read more

Seats were terribly uncomfortable. Recliner didn't work, kept slipping. No stadium seating so the view of the screen was at an odd angle. The seat material itself was torn. Cup holders were very dirty. Good sized screen, fine picture and sound quality. Fairly clean bathroom. We'll probably avoid this theater in the future. read more

This was my first time at the movies in over a year. The reason I won't be going back to this regal is that the film I was watching stopped twice (both during the climax scene) and it did restart but apparently on its own. When we said something to management, they said no one else had mentioned it and there was no other acknowledgement. I'll be going to flagship in Waterville next time. read more

The manager or shift lead working yesterday was super helpful and kind when I mistakenly bought my family tickets to Mufasa at the wrong movie theater (one in Portland). He helped us figure out the issue, and then went above and beyond to exchange our tickets to see the movie at the Augusta theater. It was a great experience, and saved our family from missing out on the movie. We always go to the Augusta theater for the great customer service, comfy movie seats, and fresh popcorn! read more

This theatre, for me, is average. The outside looks quite old and beat up, but the inside looks new and polished. I went to see the new Lord of the Rings, and it said the movie started at 1:30pm. It started at 1:30, but the trailers and adverts lasted for 45 minutes, so the actual movie started at 2:15. If you want to save some time, come a bit later. The seating is good, and the seats recline. Quite comfy. I'd probably come again if there is something worth watching. read more

The staff, movie, sound, cleanliness are perfectly fine, but the theaters themselves are horrible. I had seats in row C and by the time the movie ended, I had a bad kink in my neck and this is with the reclining seats. I couldn't imagine being in row A or B. If you must see a movie here, get the back row, your neck will thank you. read more

Yesterday we went to Regal Augusta and while waiting in line to buy tickets for Nosforatu we were approached by a young women telling us we had ronleave the theater, when asked why, the woman said they didn't allow face paint and that we would have to leave or wash it off. She was referring to my 18 year old daughter who does vampire goth makeup NOY gave paint but makeup.. and we told her it was make up and she continue to say we had to either leave or wash it off. This being addressed in front of a very busy lobby and everyone was watching. I asked why and she saidnit was a security issue and I said how so and she said in case they had to identify said person. I said again this is NOT face paint this is make up ...now back story here my daughter is an artist and she is also high functioning Autistic. So not only was she called out on her makeup, but she was the focal point of the whole lobby ...I myself am beyond upset at this point and asked my daughter what she wanted to do and she said I want to leave I looked at the woman and said we are leaving but this isn't the last of it . Now if you want to see the Facebook post I wrote feel free to look me up and read it. There is also a picture of my daughter at another movie theater last night that was shocked and appalled that Regal denied access to her. And I also might add that we go to regal all the time with the same goth make up and have never been accosted by the help and told to leave... Big mistake, discrimination band humiliation at its finest and I will not be going there ever again. Recently made the trek from Bucksport to Augusta to catch the latest Scorsese epic at the Regal. It was very modern, very up-to-date, pretty much like any other Regal cinema I've been to. We caught a first-showing at noon, and, surprisingly, the place was pretty deserted. (Granted, it was a weekday; but, still....) Concession stand was like any other concession stand you'd find in a Regal cinema. (Popcorn's just not up-to-snuff with AMC, though, in my opinion. But decent....) Anyway, the cinemas in this complex are all relatively small, as far as the number of seats. Which is a good thing since the seats were all generously-sized loungers, with lots of legroom, and plenty of arm space between seats. Acoustics were great, with no noticeable bleeding from adjoining cinemas. In fact, we had the entire 3 1/2-hour film entirely to ourselves -- felt like we had our own screening room! :D Overall, it was a very good experience. And with plenty of nearby shopping and eateries, the location is perfect for Augusta...! read more

We've not been to either of the main movie theaters in Augusta since 2019. We really wanted to see The Color Purple. The other luxury theater was less expensive, but I had always preferred the popcorn at Regal. Bad choice. The theater is so run down. Moths in the hallway between the different movies, and in the seating area where we were. The chairs have holes and are quite worn down. There was dried soda on our selected seats and on the armrests and in the drink holders. Sticky. We did complain about this before the movie started and it was cleaned up. Why wasn't it already clean, since it was the first showing of the day? The bathrooms are worn, and the sinks are stopping up, slow to drain. Only one hand dryer worked. The place stinks, The popcorn was stale and that really bummed me out. Nearly $40 for 1 large popcorn, small soda, 1 bottled water and plain fries. $65 for the whole date. Awful. read more

This place is fantastic since they completed their renovations in the fall of 2014. I love being able to reserve my seat days and weeks prior to an opening night showing and not having to show up early to ensure decent seats. The Regal Crown Rewards program is extremely generous, providing free movie tickets and concessions. Well worth signing up for. The seats are comfortable and recliners - making the price for a ticket more than acceptable. The only issue I have it that it's never clear from online services such as Fandango or at their kiosk which seats share an armrest/cup holder for your companion. Since there are usually an odd number of seats in a row, you can never rely on your past experience to determine which is which as different theaters have the aisle on different sides. Getting concessions tends to be more of a chore than it should be, and I'm sure there could be some efficiencies gained with additional staff training or staffing. That said, I keep coming back because I love this theater. read more

Even though we sat in the front row, with the new reclining chairs it wasn't too close, even for a 3D movie. No headaches for me this time! We really enjoyed ourselves and were very comfortable. Concession prices are insane as usual; we just walked right on by. read more

Great place to see a movie in Augusta. Close to a few good places for dinner (we like Elevation Burger) and shopping beforehand, plenty of parking and easy on/off the turnpike. The reclining seats are comfy, though I'm small and they're too cavernous for me - I tend to bring an extra jacket to place behind me, or my purse. What IS great about the reclining seats is that there's no one directly in front or in back of you - very wide aisles to accommodate the recline. There's not a bad seat in the house. I never have to worry about not being able to see over the tall guy in front, or having my chair kicked from behind. We tend not to spend a lot on concessions, because, well, you will spend a LOT on concessions.. but that's typical these days. And they have Peanut Chews!!! The ten or so in the box are worth it, IMHO. Great place for date night - especially when there's a new Marvel movie! read more

5 stars for the theater, 1 star for the poor customer service. While I love coming to Regal Cinemas in Augusta because of the reclining chairs, quality screen and typical good experience, I was very turned off by the older gentleman working the ticket window when I went to see the Incredibles 2. I use Movie Pass and needed to change my check-in time because the first showing was full. With nobody behind me in line, I let him know what I was doing and told him I'd be seeing the later movie, but wanted to buy my tickets now. As I'm looking at my phone he starts getting an attitude with me because I need to choose my seat and get off my phone. I turned to my fiancé and asked "Which pair do you want?" as there were limited seats. The worker then snaps at us, telling us to pick a seat and making comments like "This is what you get for coming to a KIDS MOVIE the first weekend it's out!" Instead of freaking out, I held myself back, took our tickets and walked out. This man was so unbelievably rude for absolutely no reason. It's not like there were people behind me and I was causing a "traffic stop". He clearly doesn't like his job, and should NOT be working in a place he has to interact with so many people. read more

Only cinema in town anymore. Always has the newly released movies and has a great selection of bag it yourself candy.

Dirty and gross. Its the only option in Augusta and at times it feels like they should be condemned. The seats suck, typical over priced movie food, most of them there is only 1 or 2 toilets in the mens room that work. Its often well worth the drive to Waterville for Flagship. read more

Love the new seats in the auditorium, I finally feel like I'm sitting at home with my feet up but now getting to enjoy the features of a movie theatre. Food and drinks are pricy but that's to be expected at a theatre. Went today and they had a summer camp coming in, the prep for this was awful, every kid was in line to get concessions. This was a terrible system, I saw at least three people exit the line as it was taking forever just to get a snack. Next time I hope they plan better. read more

Love the reclining seats. Popcorn, snacks and drinks are outrageously priced, but that seems to be the norm at most theatres. Watched La La Land recently in theatre 1 and froze! We asked that something be done about the heat before the movie started, but they did nothing. I wrote a letter to the theatre manager, but never received a reply. This is not the way to do business. Have been driving the extra miles to Railroad Square Cinema in Waterville where the seats are old-style, the snacks are better and less expensive and the staff there is welcoming and personable. read more

Seats are wonderful! That's the positive of this review. Expect a very, very, very long wait at the concession stand. Once recently, I arrived 45 minutes before start time, and after waiting to buy a ticket, going through the concession line, I arrived inside the theatre seven minutes after the movie began! In addition, you have to choose your seat. What a waste of time and energy!!! Seats are chosen one at a time, so get ready if someone in the front of the line is not a very good decision maker! Seriously? Also, you don't know if the seat is on the aisle or against the wall! Since it takes so long to get to the theatre, good luck trying to find "your" seat in the dark! Again, the seats are very comfortable, but that's the only positive at this location. read more

Okay, I have to tell you. If anyone had the money to open a cinema in Augusta with stadium seating they would make a fortune. I am from Orlando, FL - we have stadium seating at several theaters, and the prices here are $1 higher. Your ancient chairs are uncomfortable, and if someone sits in front of you, you might as well leave. Get with it Augusta! you are the capitol of Maine! The theatres are dirty and outdated with horrible seating. The ticket prices are also much higher than Flagship cinema in Waterville. They charge $11 for an adult 3D matinee versus $8.50 at Flagship. The worst part however is the customer service, or lack of. They are rude and uncaring, especially the Manager Eileen. Drive a bit further and avoid this place. Augusta needs a real cinema. read more
