Regal Ballston Quarter is one of two movie theatres near me in Arlington. Regal isn't a theatre chain I go to often though as I feel the rewards programs at AMC and Cinemark are better. But I have friends in Ballston and it also helps that compared to AMC Courthouse there's a food court in Ballston Quarter offering more food variety. The Regal in Ballston feels contemporary when you're in the theatre and dated when you're outside of it. There's not really a ton going on and there's a lot of big space between the theatres. Wish there was some decorations of upcoming films or something the main lobby where the concessions are has more character but also feels very limited and the lighting is a bit meh. But the theatre itself is good. It might not be my first pick for a theatre given Regal isn't a chain i usually see movies at but Ballston Quarter as a whole is just a nice spot overall that it's hard not to kill two birds with one stone. read more

Caught a movie at the Regal Theater in Ballston recently--first time I've been to that location in quite a while. When we got to the concession stand, the cashier asked to scan our tickets before we could order food. I had them pulled up on my phone, and after scanning, they actually printed out physical copies for us. We ordered two alcoholic beverages and a large popcorn. For which the cashier couldn't complete the order because he was underage, so he had to tag in a colleague to finish the transaction. The theater itself was comfy--reclining seats and plenty of space. Not crowded at all, and even if it was busy, there's plenty of seats. If you're not into big crowds, keep that in mind when you book your tickets. read more

The movie watching experience here itself is pretty good. Good film choices, good times, and high quality video. However considering it's $20 to come watch a movies it's crazy that there are 30 minutes of ads after the start time. Conveniently located theater in need of some updates here and there. It's definitely older and although it has recliner seats, they're wearing thin - the material literally is crumbling and came off on my pants. The bathrooms are also looking a bit worse for wear. And I don't typically order concessions because they're overpriced, but I recently received a free small popcorn for my birthday through Regal Cinemas rewards program. The popcorn was very stale though which just confirmed that the Ballston Quarter Market downstairs is a much better option for food before or after a movie. The rewards program is free though and worth it for the $7.99 ticket price on Tuesdays. It's a bit misleading that you have to scan your rewards card to even see the discounted price as an option, but the discount and location are the only reasons I come to this theater. read more

This theater is located in the Balston shopping center. We wanted Diet Coke but they said the fountain machine had no ice so the only options were bottled. After paying I took the dog out of the package at the condiment station and noticed OLD it looked! No one should've ever received this. The bun also tastes old! I am writing to share my recent experience at your Regal Cinema located in Ballston Mall, Arlington, VA. On Friday night (Sept 12th), my girlfriend and I purchased tickets (about $32 total) to watch a movie. Unfortunately, we mistakenly went into the wrong auditorium before the film began. Shortly after, an employee informed us that we were in the wrong theater. We had not yet watched any part of the movie, but we were told that we could not receive a refund or any assistance. I explained that I would be willing to purchase another ticket to see the correct showing, but the manager refused to accommodate us in any way. As a result, we ended up leaving without being able to watch any movie despite having already paid. This was a disappointing experience, and I am kindly requesting assistance in resolving this matter. I would greatly appreciate either a refund for the tickets or a voucher/credit so that my girlfriend and I can enjoy a movie at Regal in the future. I love Regal and the main reason is because how comfortable the seats are unlike AMC which feels like sitting in the tight economy class of a plane but I am sorry for what I am about to do right now because of last night's experience. Me and my friend went to watch Spiderman - No Way Home here last night and the person who checked our tickets sent us to the wrong theatre. Why? How? What? When? All the questions I can't think off regarding this would remain unanswered but somehow we were sent to watch West Side Story. I don't know if this was a joke or a prank but it wasn't funny. Made us look stupid and upon complaining we were told "what do you wanna do swap or refund?" What sort of customer service is that? Worse kind. 1 star is for the seats and that's about it. Regal Ballston Quarter is a fine movie theater experience. Here's what you should know: 1) Parking: A multi-level parking garage is attached to it with $1 parking, a cheap price in an expensive area. 2) Tickets: If you wait to buy your tickets inside, know that you will need to stand in line. You can only buy your ticket at the concession stand, which is always a long line. It's the worst system. Factor in 15-20 minutes cushion before your movie starts. 3) Seating: We were in theater 3 and the seats were excellent. They are big, comfy, and recline. That means any seat in the theater is a good one! If you live near this location, it's a fine movie theater. read more

Really not a fan of this theater. As many other reviews mentioned they have been a fun continue to have issues with their AC which makes watching a movie not enjoyable whatsoever. We've gone to 2 movies here in the last few months. The place is like a ghost town. Over the summer the air conditioning was not working properly, and it was uncomfortably hot. Today it was uncomfortably cold. On our visit there a couple of months ago a couple came in late, sat down and began loudly talking and arguing. After about 10 minutes of this, I went out and complained. A manager cam in and sat down next to them, and they got quiet. He left and they started up again. Today, about halfway through the film, we started hearing banging noises at one of the exit doors. after several minutes of this, the door opened and 3 teens entered--obviously sneaking in without tickets. They sat down, talked for a few minutes, then left. Around 20 minutes later the noise started again at the exit door, and when it finally opened it was the same 3 teens. they again sat down, this time staying until the end of the movie. As we exited a manager was standing in the walkway, looking for these kids. He approached them and they took off running, almost knocking us over to get away. We don't feel safe here, and I doubt we'll return. The only pluses are the comfortable reclining seats and the covered garage parking. read more

1. Good large reclining leather seats with a swivel tray table and cup holder. Comfy and quite fancy. Small room (another plus) 2. Loud air con (you can even hear it during the quieter portion of the film). 3. Dirty toilets (and scary "strobe" lights as if in a horror movie). Dirty environment (popcorns on the staircases; trash can by each cinema room overflowing; no one cares to clean up). 3. Attitude = "we don't care." When the movie was over (mind you it's a Saturday night!), past 12 midnight, all staff was gone! Leaving us trapped inside. Stupid silly cinema. What if there's fire or a real emergency? The iron gates were down. We were lucky to figure out an emergency exit. We emerged into the garage. 4. The garage itself is straight out of a horror movie. Disorganized. Sub-par signage. The entire mall (despite its recent renovation) really is sending a message: we do not welcome you here; we do not want you here. We didn't drive. We had to fend for ourselves to find a way to descend to the street level from the garage. 5. They sell wine from a fancy glass box. Looking nice and modern. Popcorn was ok (maybe too much butter). 6. Cinema was empty (for better or for worse) on a Saturday night for Captain Marvel. Maybe no one wants to come here. 7. Mall was overrun by delinquent teenagers including the public restrooms (which I didn't even dare go near). read more

i do understand the rating posted for this space, especially when they did not have AC, but in my time visiting here that really has been the only negative, now i bring a jacket every time since I don't know if ill be warm or cold . The managers are nice, staff is polite, cheap tickets on Tuesday and occasional Mystery movie. read more

Warning: As of Thursday aka the release of Barbenheimer madness, the air conditioning was nonfunctional at the Ballston theater. We checked out the theater, and it felt like 85 degrees in there. We waited 15 minutes in line at concessions for a manager to process our refund. When I told a friend about our experience, she said she went there for a movie a month ago, and the AC wasn't working then either. (!) It seems wrong for this location to continue selling tickets when their facilities are in need of serious repair. read more

I had a great experience at this location while seeing The Last Jedi yesterday in Theatre 1. The entire place is very clean and nice (with updates coming soon with remodeling in progress). The theatre we were in was very nice, new reclining seats, tray tables (that can't be removed or put away which was kind of odd if you don't have any food, drinks or stuff). The sound and picture quality were great! Apparently the electric recliners get unplugged sometimes so the ushers came in with really bright flashlights to fix some recliners which momentarily would disturb the movie but it wasn't too bad. Parking in the parking garage was easy but costed $3 (which is pretty lame when you're already paying for a movie and possibly shopping at the other stores). All in all it was a great experience and I'd recommend the theatre if you're in Ballston. read more

This Regal Cinemas is in the Ballston Mall, which is going through so much construction right now. It's loud, it's smelly, it's unsightly. The mall is really cold in some parts and really hot in others. However, that's outside Regal's control. As for Regal itself, I like this theater because of the convenience of the adjacent parking garage. Because I go in the evenings, it's only $1 to park, which is extremely reasonable. The concessions line tonight was super short, and the wait was reasonable. The cashier was friendly and rung up the total and delivered our order quickly. My friend and I saw Tomb Raider in theater 7, but it was really cold inside. The seats reclined and were comfy. A small soda and and a large water cost $11.86 but that's movie theater prices for you. The theater was clean, the signage was helpful, and the staff attentive and friendly. I would return if I'm in the area again. read more

Went to go see the movie What Happens Later tonight. Movie was terrible! Walked out of the movie and the theater wouldn't give a refund. Also, the theater was not busy and the staff couldn't handle serving the few people there. If theaters want to keep people coming back then they need to provide decent customer service and a good experience. I will not go back! read more

Please make sure that the house lights are up all the way both prior to the movie starting and after the credits are finished. As I was looking for my seat (10 minutes before the movie time started), I tripped as no house lights were up, and several of the trays were not pushed in all the way (which should also be fixed to have the trays push all the way in down by the side of the seat). Then I accidentally ended up sitting in the wrong seat. While the numbers are a decent size on the tray, the letters to the row, while lit up, are extremely small compared to other theaters I have been to which have had large print on the aisle seat themselves or across from the aisle seat. I stayed all the way through the credits, and no lights ever came up which thankfully this time I did not trip, but this is still a risk for accidents. read more

First time visiting this theater. Watched 007 No time to Die on the 2nd day of release in a 3PM matinee showing. Really enjoyed the experience as the theater was pretty empty, the seats are very comfortable (can even adjust the seats to flatten out with a button), and showing was great. The rest of the theater looks pretty clean and it's such a better experience overall than another much older Regal I visited. Will definitely come back and watch Dune and Matrix later this year! read more

Got yelled at to show our tickets at the concessions (there was no signage), our theater was changed from the one on our tickets, which changed our seats to handicap seating (which meant we were short a chair), and then the movie started 10 minutes late, with no sound, and then they didn't restart it. read more

Regal Ballston is just fine. Theaters have reclining seats with little slide out tables and lots of extra room to walk down the row. Only issues I have are that the temperature is not comfortable more often than not... It's too hot or too cold or humid and cold? It's weird. Also sometimes there's not much staff and you have to go to the food counter to check in which takes a really long time. They have some of the cheapest matinee prices, though, so maybe that makes up for any shortcomings. My ticket was $7.45. read more

Disorganized. Hard to find the theater, hard to get to the theater, hard to park, and hard to find the place to check in your ticket. The chairs are comfortable and the movie experience is not bad. One of the theaters has bad sound--the sound goes in and out. I probably won't be coming back here just because it does not seem that accommodating. read more

This Regal is a little shabby compared with the huge AMC theater in Tysons or the spiffy refurbished AMC in Shirlington. (All the surrounding mall construction doesn't help with giving customers a welcoming first impression of the Ballston Regal.) Despite that, this is a really good theater to visit. You can tell management cares, because employees say things like "have a nice evening" when they see you leaving the theater. That level of great customer service doesn't happen at some of the huge, new shiny theaters. The seats here are all assigned and all comfortable recliners--yay! The concessions are the standard hot dogs, popcorn, soda, etc. Nothing out of the ordinary, but good, and offered with polite service. Finally, three hours of parking in the garage is just $1, and that's a bargain for the area. Bottom line, if you're a movie fan living in the Arlington area, this Regal is worth a visit. read more

This is probably my favorite go to theater because it is conveniently closer and for now less crowded. Compare to other theaters which has now become luxurious- I would call this theater your average everyday theater. I've been coming to this theater before and after the renovation. You have the option to meter park outside the mall or park inside the bright garage. There's plenty of parking! So I'm happy about that. No one is going to run me over. Although at this location, the theater is a bit outdated as far as use of space and color. Apparently Regal across the nation switched to reclining seats for about a year now (from what was said by them). Each seat comes with a tray and a cup holder. I prefer regal comfort recliners over AMC and upright seats. (No way I will compare this to Alamo theater-different concept). The price for tickets is about $13 and cheaper in the mornings. They do have special showings if interested. It's a very family oriented theater and ballston is a young population. It is surrounded by schools from elementary to college. The concession offers a variety of drinks including beer and wine. I've ordered coffee and tea here before and I was satisfied. I appreciate how the workers butter up the popcorn. They're always super nice and quick. I've never had any problems. I recommend movie goers to sign up for the rewards. I've recieved more free stuff here than anywhere else. I do have one con about this location, the bathrooms. Please try to keep it clean I know people can be filthy but please try. Ballston Regal isn't bad. I've really been to awful theaters that had fights, super dirty and completely outdated. If you just want to see a movie and chillax, this theater will give you just that. read more
