Dear reader, AMC Courthouse Plaza 8 is one of my favourite neighborhood theatres. Located in Arlington's Courthouse area, it is literally just a hop, skip, and a jump from the Courthouse Metro station, making it incredibly convenient whether you're coming from DC, Alexandria, or elsewhere in Northern Virginia. Although it's a smaller AMC, it still offers a solid variety of movies and showtimes, so it never feels limiting. The staff are consistently friendly and quick, whether you're picking up mobile concessions or scanning your ticket to head inside. The theatres are always clean, everything is in good working order, and the biggest upgrade is the reclining seats. Every auditorium has the comfortable recliners, which make even the longest movies much more enjoyable. The lobby also has a few claw machines, which are a fun little distraction if you arrive early. Overall, this theatre combines convenience, comfort, and reliable service into exactly the kind of moviegoing experience I keep coming back for. read more

AMC Courthouse 8 is definitely an older theater, but honestly, that's part of its charm. The standout feature has to be the big, comfy reclining seats, complete with multiple cup holders. Once you get settled in, it's pretty easy to forget about everything else! I also loved the older movie posters scattered throughout the theater. They add a nostalgic touch that feels like a little trip down movie-theater memory lane. And speaking of nostalgia...the carpet definitely looks like it could have been installed sometime in the late '80s or early '90s. The theater could use a slight refresh, but I kind of appreciate that it still has some of that old-school character. The theater is spread across three levels--three screens on the bottom floor, two on the main floor, and three upstairs. The auditorium we were in was one of the smaller ones, so there really wasn't a bad seat in the house. Staff was friendly and service was quick. One thing that really stood out was seeing a staff member cleaning the theater after the show. He made a point of thanking customers for coming, which was a nice personal touch. Concessions are pretty much what you'd expect at a movie theater. We grabbed chicken tenders, popcorn, and a drink, and of course, the Coke Freestyle machines are always a nice bonus. Overall, 4 stars. It may be an older theater that could use a refresh, but the comfortable recliners, friendly staff, smaller auditoriums, and nostalgic atmosphere make AMC Courthouse 8 a solid place to catch a movie. read more

This AMC remains one of the best, definitely cleaner and better managed than the hyped Georgetown AMC. Right by the metro as well! Georgetown has no public transportation. This time we came to see Spielberg's Disclosure Day. The recliner chairs were cushy, big, and really comfortable. Toilets were clean. Where I live in Arlington the Regal in Ballston Quarter and the AMC in Courthouse are the closest to me. I've seen two movies each at these theatres and for AMC Courthouse I like it but it certainly shows its age in some places for better or worse. Firstly I enjoyed seeing posters of older movies scattered in the hallway on display like one for The Silence of the Lambs adds a nice charm and while some find it tacky as a cinemaphile I think it adds charm especially since AMC has a habit of showing old films every now and then anyway. The theatre itself is small with only 8 auditoriums yet they're shockingly spacious. And it's a plus that this theatre is right next to the metro unlike Regal in Ballston Quarter which requires a bit more of a wall from the metro to get there. If you have a car there's a parking garage that offers free parking on the weekends. The staff and management are friendly and attentive. The first time I came to the theatre I saw a mouse before the movie started and I freaked out (and naturally so). When I went to management after they comped me a free voucher. I ended up misplacing it but the manager remembered me and still redeemed my free movie voucher for mt next visit. Great theatre and I'm glad this AMC is ran really well. This theater is located close to a nearby metro station which is a major draw for me, as I do not drive in DC. I appreciate activities that are accessible via public transportation. I went early afternoon to see Disney's zootopia 2, so as anticipated there was a large mix of young patrons at the theater with their respective adult guardians. The theater I was in felt a bit small, but the seats were comfy and slightly spaced out between rows. The audio wasn't too loud and the temperature was pleasant. The theater did have a faint smell to it which I'm sure can be addressed after a good cleaning. read more

AMC Courthouse Theater Plaza 8 has seen better days. The overall quality and cleanliness of the theater have noticeably declined, which takes away from the moviegoing experience. On top of that, the customer service was underwhelming staff seemed disengaged and not very attentive. That said, the reclining chairs are a definite highlight super comfortable and make the experience more enjoyable. The ticket purchasing process is also quick and easy, which I appreciate. With some attention to upkeep and customer service, this location could easily get back to being a go-to spot. read more

This particular AMC location seems like it's a bit older. They do have recliner seats, which is a plus. However, they are arranged so close together, it's kind of hard to get comfortable. Mine made loud noises when adjusting, so I trekked bit to move during the show. The popcorn is just like any other movie popcorn which was ok. There is a parking lot next to the movie theater but if you are unable to find a spot there, you have to deal with street parking or pay for garage parking. read more

Great AMC with a lot of showings and the seats are recline and give you lots of space. The curly fries are great, and the icees have some limited edition flavors which can be kind of fun to try. Bathrooms are usually pretty clean and staff are helpful! read more

Came here to see Tron and honestly, this is my favorite AMC. I love the smaller theaters with recliners, and the free underground parking is such a win. Compared to the Georgetown location (my least favorite--hard to get in and out, pricey parking even with validation), this spot is way more convenient. I grabbed nachos with extra cheese and added a side of jalapeños on top. Back in the day they used to give jalapeños for free, but now they charge for them (kind of makes me want to just bring my own jar next time!). Tried to drop a hint to the cashier for an extra scoop, but no luck. Service was great though, and booking through A-List was super easy. I saw the 3D version--they gave me glasses and it definitely enhanced the experience. Theater was pretty quiet too, even on opening night. Overall, I really appreciate how comfortable and simple this theater is--most seats are recliners, it's easy in and out, and the customer service is solid. This was one of my favorite movie theaters to visit, until last night. My daughter and I were seeing Zootopia 2 in theater 4 when a rat came running under my daughter's seat from behind us. The manager was very nice and gave me a refund. But this was a huge disappointment. read more

I'm a huge fan of this theater for two reasons. Great location and parking lot. The staff always goes above and beyond when putting the butter on my popcorn. I've come her to see movies at least 2-3 times a year and I don't live near the theater . Slushy machine always works and I always eat the popcorn. read more

I have not been to my favorite beloved Movie Theater In quite awhile, I used to be there at least three to four times A month, and I lived in Prince George's County Maryland, I will explain you see my Beloved Grandmother & Grandpa lived at 1910 North 13th Street in Arlington VA, I used to walk that with my Beloved Grandmother to going shopping on Wilson Boulevard, so many Happy Memories of our days together, when my Grandpa become very ill my Beloved Mother went to take care of her Father in Law, my mother was such A good Lady, I have seen so many films there over the many years of going to it, it was always clean and in general very friendly staff, will try and revisit this happy memory spot. read more

AMC Courthouse is typically my "to go" location since so conveniently located between work and home. Public parking is available for a fee but also literally right off the Courthouse metro station and some bus lines. The staff are pretty good here, I have never had any complaints over the years. They have definitely updated the food items over the years but unfortunately seems like this is the only AMC I know of that yet services the alcohol beverages. We got to enjoy the new "Black Adam" movie, highly recommend 10/10! Tuesday's are the best days to enjoy a movie at AMC. Tickets are $5! read more

This theater sold double booked tickets. I bought tickets a week ahead of time and showed up to find other people in my seats with genuine tickets. The clerk said I should come back another time with a gift card he would give me. I said I don't want a gift card I want a refund because I won't be coming back. He said they can't do that because payment is handled by a third party. In the end I did not even watch the movie. read more

Came here last night to see Nosferatu. They have Coke Freestyle machines which are my favorite. The staff here was so nice and it's one of the cleanest AMC theaters I have ever been in. However - high movie concession prices are still the same so try to eat beforehand if you're prone to buying those yummy movie snacks! The theater was a little cold so I would recommend bringing a sweater or hoodie. There is a large parking lot next to the theater that is paid 4 hour parking but parking is free on Sundays. read more

I've had so many thing go wrong over the years at AMC Courthouse that I had stopped going to see movies here. My friend persuaded me to come back and give them another chance, and I'm glad to know that on at least some visits here, most things do go right. Pros: plush reclining seats in every theater, easy parking and access to the Courthouse Metro, lots of restaurants nearby if you are doing dinner and a movie. Cons: some seats are getting very worn, probably from the disinfectants used during the pandemic. Sometimes movie sound plays way louder than it should, and in the past, employees said they could not fix it. (I travel with noise reducing earplugs now.) In the past, I would frequently see very dirty bathrooms and sticky floors, but I see a little less of that now. read more

AMC A-list member reviewing various AMCs throughout the country. Seats: Old, 90s style AMC seats (at least in the theaters I have been in). Not reclining. No USB. Not heated. I think there was a cup holder, but you never can be too sure. Screens: Fine but definitely reminiscent of the 1990s. Macguffins: No. Snacks: Mid. Popcorn is fine. My fav AMC Pizza was good but not top-tier. Nicole Kidman AMC ad: yes! Crowd: Not in or near a mall so fewer rowdy teens. Bathrooms: Dirty. Weird ads playing on a loop over the radio? Parking: Very little, confusing. However, this may be the only AMC inside of a metro stop that I am aware of. Overall: 3/5. Very small theater that feels dated. Great location in terms of public transit, bad for parking. Really small individual theaters. I once lost a very cheap leather jacket here and came back immediately and they claimed it was gone. I have an AMC pass, so I come here frequently. I live in DC and choose to come here over the Georgetown location because of metro access. My experiences here have always been positive. The staff is always pleasant and is happy to assist with any issues/questions. As I usually go solo, I often order my popcorn and drink to my seat because I don't want to spill, and it's always brought to me promptly. The seating is also comfortable. While this location doesn't have a bunch of frills and maybe isn't quite as modern as some other locations, I've had good experiences, and I love the location. read more

Parking is difficult but free after 8 in some places, Once you get there you'll be met with a somewhat small looking theater. Staff was friendly and plenty, however the places was far from clean. To the machine looking like they haven't been cleaned in days, to the utensils being all over the place and some with unknown residue, I would be cautious with which you pick. Once I received my items, I went down to the theater where I was met with doors held wide open. Although it didnt seem like an issue at the start, the movie theater stayed lit during the beginning since the doors were not shut. Im not sure if the staff were supposed to close them, or the last one in. The recliners were a nice touch and extremely comfy. They were clean and didnt have left over food prior. I will probably go back since its conveniently located by the metro, I hope that the cleanliness improves. read more

Ever since the drama of "Movie Pass" the wife and I have been hooked on AMC and their AMC StubsPass. We rarely went to the movies but now we go multiple times a month. Okay so that's AMC in general. Let's break down this specific theater. The theater is in the middle of Courthouse so it's not in a bad location. The theater itself is not the biggest theater but not a small one either. It's two stories however the lobby area and concession area is pretty small. Luckily tonight it was pretty empty but we have been here when it's packed and trying to get concessions is not fun. Usually they have at most 1-2 people working concessions and that's not good. It can take a long time to get your food so I recommend get here early and be patient. As for the theaters they are filled with the new AMC seats that recline. So that's comfortable. Don't have AMCStubs? I recommend it for sure!!! $20 a month and you get to see up to 3 movies a week in ANY of AMC's theaters. Plus you still collect your points. It's the best thing we have done. Smaller theater than what I'm accustomed to. The seats recline but they weren't comfortable to me. The sound system was horrible. Don't go there if you plan to watch a musical. And there needs to be a better system for the staff when calling customers from the regular line vs the premier line. The cashier basically yells out next and waves people down but then says "I was calling the gentleman from the premier line" but when you're next in the regular line we assume you're talking to us (at this point two cashiers are open so we approach the counter) and then the cashier has the nerve to ask "where you in the line?" Ma'am we're adults and understand how a line works. We are the next customers to approach the counter . read more

I've gone to many theaters and they are pretty much all the same. I went to the AMC Courthouse to see The Black Panther my seat was extremely comfortable, and the inside of theater was clean. I really appreciate how intimate the theater seats are two seater. They aren't close Also, customer service getting popcorn and drinks was very satisfying. Would highly recommend. read more

My 1st visit here due to the extremely convenient Metro access; Courthouse- Orange Line, exiting 'Courthouse' direction. Very friendly service from the staff, especially the Box Office employee Shanikra, who kindly gave me the 411 of the theater. There's a brief walk up stairs to the theaters, where you will find AMC's signature big red comfy recliners. To my enjoyment, the layout was spacious, perhaps 6 rows of 8 seats with 2 mini rows dedicated for Accessibility seating. The behemoth of a screen & studio sound was picture & audio clear. Great job in the upkeep of the restrooms. IMAX 3D, Reserve Ticketing, Coke Freestyle, various price discounts & parking is free weekdays after 6 pm & weekends at Courthouse Plaza. Love this theatre! We don't mind driving into 'urban-ville' just so we can recline in a movie theatre. There is no one kicking the back of my chair, there is no big haired man/woman sitting in front of me, and I have not felt any stickiness on the floor. The popcorn guy was awesome on our last visit. He popped fresh popcorn, and answered all my questions about the rest of the menu. I also ordered the pretzel bites and there were about 20 pieces! Awesome! Parking was a challenge mid-day, midweek due to the courthouse. On Sat mornings, we had to compete with farmers market folks. We also pre-selected our seats, but there were only 5 people in the theater and we were able to move if needed. read more

When I went to buy tickets on Fandango and saw that it was reserved seating, I got super excited since I correctly assumed that this would be one of those AMCs with the amazing full-reclining seats. Once you see a movie in a theater like this, it ruins you for all other movie theaters. Luckily I was in such a theater when I happened to be watching The Lone Ranger, one of the worst movies I've ever seen in my life. So I reclined my seat way back, kicked my feet up, and enjoyed a nice little nap while Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer embarrassed themselves. This theater also has the awesome self-serve soda machines so you can get as much of whatever kind if drink you want without waiting in line. Now if only they figured out a way to do self-serve popcorn... I was excited to find another one of these theaters, and it's a perfect way to enjoy a few hours, especially in the sweltering summertime heat. read more

Ain't got NO problems with this movie theater. Wen't and saw Black Panther here this past Friday. 1. There is a parking lot, and when I got there at 7:20pm, there was no payment required +1 Star 2. You can print out the tickets on kiosks from Fandango orders. Easy and quick! +1 Star 3. Picture and sound quality was definitely solid! +1 Star 4. The reclining seats are in good condition. The pictures on Yelp must have been taken before they renovated. +1 Star 5. Bathrooms are right outside the movie theater on the top floor, so when I inevitably drink too much from my 80 oz bucket of coke, and need to go to the bathroom at one of the most suspenseful parts of the movie; it takes almost no time! +1 Star Wouldn't have any qualms returning to this B. read more

This is my family favorite theater next to The Alamo. One reason, Lazy Boy chairs! Price: $13 tickets Reserve online add $1.25 Rather spend my money here instead of tysons amc. Ambiance: Intimate however the rooms vary between 5 rows to as large as 12 rows. Ideal for a luxury theater. Crowd: Depends. But it's Arlington so expect young professionals and young adults overall. Comfort: Excellent. There is 2 cup holders and enough width seating. The arm rest lift as well. Check out the picture I posted for theater 6. Overall, a pretty nice movie theater. It's clean and comfortable. Projection quality is pretty good. What's great: It not only has the big, comfy, leather reclining seats, but gives enough space between rows that even when people are reclined, someone who needs to step out for more snacks or a bathroom break can get through the aisle. What's not so great: No joke, the soft pretzel and soda combo is $21.49! I wish the concession prices weren't so obscene, and I wish they had a bar, but otherwise it's a pretty solid theater. read more
