Its a older theater, a oldie but goody, the seat are rocker type but no recliners, upside relatively no snoring. Isle not as deep so you still have cross foot traffic. My daughter and I went to see Downton Abby Finality, the theater was pleasant not to cold and the seats were ok. But the commercials was about 30 minutes long so distraught and disgustingly vulgar to the point I felt like leaving. If you saw all episodes of Dawn-ton Abby it was repeats here and there. Don't come at the time of the movie, no matter what movie you see you will sit through 25 minutes of some inappropriate previews. We came to see Twisters which is not rated R and were subjected to three horror film previews which were very vulgar and scary. I'm shocked this is seems to be standard practice to just show whatever the heck they want no matter what the audience! The previews were cussing every word possible and the films were not appropriate for young teens who came to see a regular summer movie. Very disappointed in this practice. The other strange thing is you pay for your tickets at concessions here. It's so strange to do that. Besides all this the theater was clean, screen and sound were good. Temperature was good in the room. And the movie was great! Highly recommend Twisters! It's way better than the original. read more

**UPDATE** Yesterday I went to see "Escape Room" and there was an issue with my ticket. The manager Sckyler was very professional and transparent about why the issue occurred and resolved it. This update was to add an additional star to my previous review because the manager was very nice and honest. A wonderful theatre staffed by warm and friendly people. It is kept quite clean and is a great place to spend a few hours enjoying a movie and snacks. If there is anything I would change, it was the seating chart for theater #3. It looked like the upper rows were way more offset to the right of the screen, and much closer to the screen than they turned out to be. We selected seats based on the chart and ended up farther away from the screen and more off-center than our usual preference. Not that that diminished our enjoyment of the movie, just something that surprised us. Go, enjoy, sit closer to the screen and have a great day. read more

I've lost count how many times I have been to this place and never realized that I've never written a review until today. This is one of the closest movie theaters to my house and so far it is my favorite. It does not matter which day or time of the week you get there the lines are not bad and if there is a line the staff is fast so the line move quickly. They have all the recent movies and many showings besides they also have many rooms so the possibility of getting there and the tickets are sold out it is pretty small. I love REGAL in general for the points you get when you buy tickets, I am at the movies at least once a week and I am always getting free popcorn through my REGAL points. I just wish they had recliner seats and that you could by assigned seats but other than that I have nothing else to complain about :) read more

They called four cops on us because our parent went out to their car to get something and came back in and they said we were being a loud and I'm noxious when we weren't keep in mind there were other people vaping talking loudly on their phones and using their flashlights, and none of them got kicked out so that's what your tax dollars are going towards when they're real crimes being committed kicking kids out of the movie theaters read more

Came and spent well over a $100 bucks to watch movies. My girlfriend and myself with my daughters came to watch Frozen 2 and her sons one of which is 18 to watch a different movie. The person taking tickets said the boys couldn't watch a movie by their self unless a parent was with them, remind you that one is 18. Would have left with a refund but try telling that and the reason why to a 5 and 6 year old, so thanks regal for making this a memorable night out for us. Never again read more

This movie theater is located in a convenient spot in Franklin Square. It's nice to look around the area before your movie starts. I enjoyed going to this movie theater over the years, but the curfew times they have set are ridiculous. They should look into updating the sitting areas too, they are quite uncomfortable compared to other movie theaters around them. The prices have keep rising, the food and ticket prices going up more. Walked in the greeter just asked if we already had tickets and once I replied yes he just said well you do everything yourself. Didn't advise us where our theater was or provide us with our 3d glasses for the movie. Went to get some snacks and there were literally 7 or 8 workers standing around the popcorn having casual conversation. No greetings to the guest and one person on the cashier. Went to our theater found our seats and the theater was NASTY! It wasn't cleaned from the last movie or maybe not cleaned from the night before our chairs had popcorn bags in them, cups in the chair handles and popcorn on the floor. Our movie was great except for the times we could not hear the movie due to the movies next door coming through the wall and out sounding ours. I was pretty upset about how horrible this place has gotten over the years and now see why we choose to travel outside the city to see a movie. read more

Went on 10/13/19 and none of their systems seemed to be working. Staff seemed harassed and over being there. Customer service goes a long way and the whole point of buying tickets through the app and by passing the line is so you do not have to wait a long time and instead we did because the system was not working. The lady who took my concession order took my debit card and walked away to help someone else and left my card laying on the register. Being the only movie theater in the Gastonia area, this is pretty much your only choice to see the new flicks if you don't want to drive to Charlotte. And while it's nothing special, it gets the job done. Think typical stadium style movie theater and you've got Movies at Franklin Square. They have all of the new releases & a good amount of theaters so you get plenty of options, from shows to showtimes. It can get pretty packed at times, especially on weekends when all the little kiddies come out of the woodwork to go watch a movie. I would say this is the only negative to this place, being the crowd can be your middle/high school kids that think they are super cool. But other than that, it's your normal movie going crowd. I never order anything at a movie theater in the way of food or drink so I won't talk about those prices, but a ticket is freaking $9.50. Wow...it's getting really ridiculous to go to the movies nowadays. Once inside, the place is pretty clean, from the bathrooms to the theater itself. They do have stadium style as I said before, with some pretty comfortable seats with cup holders. At the Movies at Franklin you can usually find a great seat without many people around you unless you hit up the popular movie on release weekend. After that though, the crowds slim out & you can have a peaceful movie experience. There's nothing too fancy here so don't expect anything thrilling when you walk through the doors. You will pay a hefty price to get in though so I suggest staying away from the concessions once inside. read more

This is about the only movie theater in Gastonia so even though they charge $10 for a ticket on a weekday, it still fills up fairly easily. Guess there's not much else to do around? Not exactly on my to go list, but as my date that night suggested we meet here to watch a movie I went with it. Walking in you're greeting by the smell of heavily buttered popcorn and plush purple carpet. My charming date bought a medium soda and some gummy fruits for a whopping $9. Then we saw the size of the huge cup of soda given out and balked a bit, just to give you an idea of the size of a medium. He remarked "I think this is enough for at least 5 people, maybe I've been in London too long". The theater itself was serviceable, not much to say there. Expensive weekday tickets, oversized portions that may give people diabetes if they manage to finish it to justify oversized prices and being extremely out of my way make this experience two thumbs down and just as many stars. My date better be glad that he was extremely charming and lovely or I'd have left slightly upset. read more

Please do not waste your money on this place. I can't tell you how many times I've given this movie theatre a "second chance." But, you can judge from the facts about this place... The good: 1- The seats are very comfortable. 2- There is a very good sound system. 3- The temperature of the room is good during the movie. The bad: 1- VERY outdated. 2- The groups of people that go to this theatre can make you uncomfortable. There are lots of young people that get themselves into senseless trouble. 3- We could hear the movie next to us the ENTIRE time!!!!! So annoying! 4- tickets and popcorn are more expensive than Charlotte's movie theaters. 5- It took a long time for us to get our popcorn and drinks because the employees were talking with each other and not serving their customers. 6- floors were sticky and trash wasn't picked up before our movie started. 7- the lights on the stairs are so bright, the theatre isn't really dark Sorry it's so long, but yeah, don't go here. I went there yesterday for a movie screening and it was ok. The process went smoothly. This movie theatre doesnt get too busy until the weekends. It is clean, the bathrooms were much cleaner than most theatres and the theatre chairs are wider and comfortable. The concession stand was quick, in the middle of the theatre and well put together. Took the kid here to see a movie during the day so I was expecting cheaper tickets. Oooo no no no it was slike 15 bucks (). I wouldn't mind paying this at night or in a nicer theater. I felt like I was in one of those dollar showcases where you see cheap movies in the middle of two light town. It's kinda dirty in the theaters. and the bathrooms were absolutely disgusting. We bought drinks... Well a cup of ice with a very small amount of soda in it, and popcorn which was super salty. I was sadly disappointed with our experience. I sat through a long movie in an uncomfortable seat & it sucked. We will probably try to go see movies elsewhere. read more

Me and my wife took the girls to see a movie they are both 15 and wanted to see a separate movie from us. I said thats fine the auditoriums were close. I was informed when i got to the register that oan adUlt would have to be with the girls that we coildnt watch separate movies. I read your age policy it says nothing about this. Needless to say i hate that i made the trip there if thats the way me and my family get treated i will go somewhere else or order it on a streaming service. This is one of our go to theaters in the area. It is unbelievable that our kids and friends (total of 3...all 16 year old kids) can not get into STAR WARS? What universe are we living in? Again it is STAR WARS!!!!! No 16 year olds allowed after 4 PM? We made them go to the 6 PM showing so they were home in a reasonable time and did not get into trouble. Imagine our surprise when they showed up home early and let us know they were not allowed to enter the theater without a 21 year old to supervise. Surprise what? Are you kidding me??? It is Star Wars at 6 PM on a Friday. Am I supposed to drive out to a "brick and mortar" theater and sit down with three 16 year olds for the nostalgia of the event, when instead I can take my significant other out to a nice dinner and have a date night. Came here for a matinee showing of The Hateful Eight. The ticket line went quickly and the ticket taker was very friendly. He seemed to know and recognize some of the moviegoers, who must be regulars. The theater was clean and warm enough (I can't stand a cold theater in winter). The seats aren't very comfortable; they tilt back a little bit but as one unyielding uncomfortable piece. I think it might be the only game in town in Gastonia. Two coffees set us back $5. They are supposedly getting a "Starbucks Machine", whatever that means. An Okay place to see a movie - not bad not great. read more
