We arrived about 15 minutes early for The Odyssey in the IMAX theater. There was a big crowd in the lobby area. Word got around that they were cleaning the theater (still!) so wouldn't let us in. We wanted to buy snacks and nobody was allowed to buy from the concessions either. When I asked the guy holding everybody back, he said everybody would just storm the theaters so we all had to wait. We couldn't buy our food and go back to the waiting area. This really made no sense to me as then we all had mob the concessions at once and a long line formed. That put me off. But once we made it through and got our food, our experience improved. I hadn't been to this IMAX before. It was great! The chairs are very comfy and the temp in the theater was also pretty comfortable. I've been freezing in theaters, so appreciated that this one wasn't cold. I haven't been to the theater in years. But a recent film was enough to tempt me out. Friends really wanted to see it in IMAX so this is where we ended up going. This place feels incredibly retro in an amazing way. They still show the roller coaster preview that I remember from childhood. The design is neon and colorful. We didn't have any issues getting tickets online, parking across the street for free, arriving early to get concessions with less of a line, finding our seats, or enjoying the audio/visuals of the movie. I went to a movie here yesterday and before the movie there was a commercial for Trump and the MAGA agenda. It wasn't a military recruiting video, it was propaganda supporting the war in Iran and the "Department of War". it was very bizarre, I've never seen a political commercial shown in a movie theater before. it's inappropriate. I loved the MetOpera Live in HD performance today, but my experience was marred by the loud thumping coming from the theater next to us.

There are certainly worse Regal theatres. First thing I saw here was The Monkey which was not a great first impression movie. Good stuff: -neon lights and stuff are aesthetically pleasing -all the amenities of being a chain theatre (lots of options n stuff) -parking lot so easier parking than a lot of PDX places Bad stuff: -that stupid tjmaxx-esq line of god awful merch that you have to walk thru to get concessions now -not heart to the theatre really -you're around the Lloyd Center. read more

I went last night to see project Hail Mary, a movie with a two hour and 34 minute run time. The showtime was 630, however they continue to show loud commercials until 637. They then proceeded to show approximately 28 minutes of trailers and other commercials before finally starting the opening credits. Not only do I have a life, I also have a normal size bladder. To subject us to that many commercials, at that loud volume, and then not even starting on time for a movie that's running over 2 1/2 hours. Otherwise a nice movie theater, but I'm just done with being lied to by saying a movie has a 7:30 start time and having to sit through 10 minutes of commercials and then another 20 minutes of trailers before getting to the actual movie. I was just here to see Dune in IMAX (theatre 2). I think this is one of the better Regals I've been in. The seats were very comfortable, the view was great, popcorn was good, and it's clean if a little quirky. The projection quality was acceptable. However, I have to nitpick it a bit. They use a dual projector system in the IMAX theatre. I'm pretty sure one of the projectors needed to be refocused. After it turned on during the credits, some of the trailers got very blurry. (The Batman trailer was especially blurry). I also noticed this throughout the movie in dark scenes. It wasn't that bad, but you could tell it wasn't quite perfectly clear. Additionally, I believe it uses the dual 2K xenon IMAX projectors at 1.90:1 (though this info is hard to find.) While much better than a typical theatre, I really wish they offered the 4k laser projection system at the 1.43:1 aspect ratio. There were many times I could notice the pixel density just wasn't quite high enough, especially with text on the screen. Their silver screen is about 65 feet diagonally, so 2K is really being stretched quite far. However, it's hard to complain because the 1.43:1 laser systems are extremely rare. This is definitely much better than a normal showing. The sound was okay. Unfortunately, like most theaters, they think turning it up very loud is the same as making it sound good. While it was much better than Tenet, the sound was still over 95 decibels in a handful of scenes. That's UNACCEPTABLY loud. It causes hearing damage, and no A/V systems should be permitted to be that loud for public showings. This is an awful trend in the A/V industry, and I've noticed it with many theaters and DJs recently. Like, okay, you have a great sound system with excellent positioning, crystal clear audio, and base you can feel in your bones. But when it's 95 decibels, that is thrown out the window! The music is too loud to distinguish sounds, the dialogue is inaudible, and everything else is just shrill and hurts in your ears. It really strongly sucks you OUT of the emotional experience of the scene. The director cannot intend for me to be sucked out of a big scene (unless you're an audio masochist like Christopher Nolan), so the most immersive solution would be to turn the audio down so that I can hear each sound perfectly! I just know the experience could be SO much better with a little bit of attention (and money) put on the projection and audio system. That said, I am nitpicking. This is probably the best you'll get in Portland, so. ‍ Every theatre is gonna be extremely loud, but at least you get mostly nicer projection and seats here. Anyways, Dune was awesome, but they could implement IMAX a bit better. read more

We came to see Shang-Chi back in September on a rainy evening in Portland. It was unclear if there was parking available, so we parked in a free garage a few blocks away. We were running behind and there were only a few people working. The couple in front of us buying tickets had so many questions and issues that I was hopeful the employee would tell them to wait so we could just buy our tickets, but he was attentive and patient with them and helped them out. He was the same with us as we bought our tickets. I was stuck behind the same couple at concessions, but luckily that transaction was easier! I ended up getting a free popcorn with Regal Rewards, and the concessions employee knew I was pressed for time and got my popcorn for me quickly. The sound in the theater was good, and the seats were comfortable. The theater itself isn't state of the art, the lobby lights felt pretty dim which made things look a little more worn down/dingy. But the theater, lobby, and bathrooms were pretty clean. read more

Another theater spot in town that is hit or miss for me. I have had some great experiences watching films here and some not so great. Staff for the most part have never really been an issue here with the occasional 1 off, the crowd is the worst for me. When I see a film, I like to immerse myself in that film and nothing wrecks that more than inconsiderate people in the theater. Talking about whatever, playing on the phone, taking phone calls and just not caring about anyone else. Won't catch me in here on a weekend night for most new releases, I don't get the value due to the cell phone usage that seems rampant here. This is the worst cinema experience I have ever endured. There is a large parking lot next to the cinema but it is fenced off and we have to find parking in the streets. But worst of all was the barrage of extremely loud advertising including drug commercials that we had to endure for half an hour before the previews started. After paying $10 for a ticket, It was painful to be subjected to this onslaught of noise, and there was no way to turn this off except to leave the theater. Obviously, this theater chain aims to maximise profits over the comfort of the movie goers. I will never go there again and I recommend avoiding this hell hole. read more

Made the mistake of going to the movies when the Taylor Swift show was playing. We were in Theater 5 for Haunting in Venice, next door in Theater 4, Eras was playing. It ruined our entire movie, from start to finish the room was vibrating from the base of the concert next door. Made it hard to concentrate. I've never before been to a movie where I was affected by anything happening next door. Really disappointing experience. read more

Ok.... not bad. Kinda average for a movie theater, especially a chain theater. It's close to us and has first run movies so that's cool. The theaters themselves are pretty clean and the seats are comfortable. The concession prices could be lower but they do sell wine, beer, and cider, so that's nice. read more

Regal Lloyd Center - Popcorn - Cinema Near Me - Portland, Oregon

I hadn't been here in years and went for the first time this past weekend- I likely won't return. The theatre seats reclined back but mine wasn't comfortable, it went back further than I'd like and the person behind me spent much of the movie with their legs in my seat. When reclined back so far, there's nowhere to put your feet. Many seats were very squeaky, including mine, so while a lot of us were trying to adjust and get comfortable there was loud squeaking throughout the theatre. I don't know if this was a rare situation because of a release or event or it's often like this but the theatre was overrun with extremely loud teenagers and no one was doing anything about it. When we arrived, a crowd of around ten was blocking the entrance having a joking screaming match, taking fake swings at each other while staff watched. We went into our movie another a group of teens was in the hall screaming so loud someone had to get up and close the door so we could hear the movie. 5-10 teens kept coming in and out of the theatre throughout the entire 2 hour movie, often leaving the door open and screaming in the hall again. At one point, 3 came into the theatre talking full volume about the items in their backpack they were sharing. At no point did a staff do anything- customers had to ask them to leave/quiet/etc each time. I think at the very end of the movie they finally got kicked out because a staff did a walk through seemingly looking for people. It was one of the loudest and strangest movie experiences I've ever had. read more

This place is like a cliche of all the reasons these type of mega-plexes are just so unpleasant. Tons of pre-show commercials, ridiculously expensive and terrible food, expensive tickets, big empty atmosphere. It's like a relic, but not in a good way. It's alright. Not a super plex like the one in hillsboro it's a small lil neighborhood theatre with a few screens limited times and a bare bones staff. Seats are alright - they kinda recline a little bit but they don't have foot rests like the newer regals. I'm going to keep this one short. The employees are polite, the place is clean. And I will never be back. I was absolutely assaulted by the commercials they play before the movie. The volume was at a level that had several of us scrambling from the theatre with our hands over our ears. They said that the volume for the movie would be more tolerable, but they would not turn down the volume for the ads. I had to literally scream to be heard over it. It's hard to give any movie theater a really bad rating...what would that actually take? Maybe I shouldn't ask... I guess I could think of a few things. This theater is a typical multiplex with comfy stadium seating, big screens and great sound. That's good, but it's also a bit of the downside. As I've been traveling around to theaters, I have a soft spot for the little theaters with weird set ups and more character. I don't feel like I can mark theaters down for having expensive snacks, because that's pretty typical for all movie theaters. However, I did up the rating because the beers are actually not that much more expensive than anywhere else. That's pretty nice. The other weird thing that makes me vacillate between 3 and 4 stars is that during the previews, the theater doors were open. Because this is a really busy theater, there are loads of people in the halls and they were really loud. Eventually the doors closed, but my friend had just gotten up to close them because the movie was starting. So if you LOVE, LOVE, LOVE previews, this might not be the theater for you. read more

Recently attended a showing of Dune and although masks are required it isn't enforced/vaccinations are not required. I sat in a sold out showing of Dune both people sitting next to me refused to wear masks and there were entire rows of people not wearing masks. They weren't eating or drinking. This isn't a safe place to be while this is still going on. At the very least consider your employees. I won't be going here again. read more

I watched NeZha in this cinema. It was a great movie, but there weren't many people at all probably due to it being a foreign language movie. The spot is good. But I got mis-directed by the staff in which direction to go and had to go back and ask. He wasn't the most friendly at all and had to defend himself. From the exterior the theater looks a little run down and from the inside it isn't too bad. Lots of posters and displays up which is nice but the layout is not as spacious as bathrooms are not in the middle of the theater but off to a corner- it just isn't as open compared to other theaters. Also, the auditorium isn't like stadium style but still very roomy and comfortable. I do wish they had seat reservations and hope the new construction of Regal where the old Sears used to be will be the upgrade this theater deserves! read more
