I have been to this theater over a dozen times throughout the years, with many different people. First off... to all you whiney complainers that feel the need to complain about EVERYTHING (food, staff, parking, the sound of the speakers being too loud, seating, not being noticed fast enough at the bar, people getting food during the movie etc.) GET A LIFE. You are the reason that people hate customer service jobs. The customer is not always right. Yes, the tickets and the food are on the pricier side. YOU CAN SEE THAT ONLINE... where you order your tickets? Some of the comments on here complain about the food options, prices and menu, then order food still...? Only to complain more... Parking is not horrible or bad. I do not know why there were comments about that? Maybe people want front row parking? Get over it. I have NEVER had a problem with parking. Have you been downtown? where you actually have to pay for parking, and where there is literally nowhere close by to your destination to park? If you are a picky eater, cheap, or both, learn how to cook, and take the time to make yourself something to eat prior to heading to this, or any theater. The seats are comfortable; the staff has been great (at least from the many experiences I've had). The popcorn has always been good; I order it almost every time. (I like the Herbs De Provence). Mindset is everything. If you enter a building mad about the money that you spent on the tickets, and/or about the prices of the food (LEAVE). If you are the type of person who needs attention right away and they are busy (LEAVE). If you need front row parking and you get bent out of shape over having to walk a few feet (LEAVE). First of all, know going in that the tickets are more expensive than regular theatres. OK, fine, but you get more, right? Well, only sort of. You do get a waiter and you order from a menu. If you get there early it's a little less awkward since food is brought to your seat. In a darkened theatre with ottomans and little tables filling up the aisle, it's quite disruptive to order or receive food during the film, so see something that you don't really care about missing lines of dialogue. You'd think someone would have thought of this when designing this place. Maybe have an aisle for wait staff behind the seats so the waiter can get in and out more easily with less disruption to other patrons? Secondly, food is average and overpriced. I ordered a 3-item snack tray ($19) which included an artisan cheese plate, 3 deviled eggs and flatbread. The cheese was not "artisan" in any way, shape or form, the flatbread was limp, and the deviled eggs were ok. My husband and I also split a large popcorn ($15). A 10-oz glass of wine was also $15. Regarding the seats and movie experience itself, the seats are different depending upon what seat numbers you choose, but you can't really know that until you enter the theatre and see them. It would be helpful if seating styles were better explained on the website at the time of ordering. Lastly, the house lights and some bright screens on the side wall were lit up before the credits rolled, making the credits impossible to read. As movie lovers, we always stay for and read the credits, and they are a part of the film. Leave the lights and screens OFF until the movie is done! Needless to say, we won't be back again, and we didn't find this movie going experience to be 'special' at all; more like awkward and uncomfortable. We have gone a few times for datenight over the past few months, and it still feels hit and miss to me. One thing that is neither positive nor negative is the sound in the theater, while it is very clear it is also extremely loud. I am not typically someone with sensitive hearing but if you are on either far side of the theater please prep like you're going to be right in front of speakers at a large concert (I have started to bring ear buds with noise cancelling due to the ear/head pain from sitting nearer to the walls). The positives: great film quality, comfortable seating, easy to purchase tickets. The cons: pricey menu that I have yet to feel is worth the price poin for the quality of food you recieve (also specials are rushed through before sitting), cleanliness of seating has been 50/50, parking availability can be difficult, each time we have gone food timing feels disruptive to the film. The last film we saw (Scream 7) food was still being delivered to people with 20 minutes left of the film. read more

I went to Studio One Theaters to see Project Hail Mary with my friends! We booked two recliners seats and a two seater couch. The Tokyo penthouse was such a vibe and a unique experience. I ordered the project Hail Mary drink special (orange creamsicle drink with aperol spritz) and it was delicious. I also ordered the cookies with ice cream. My friends ordered full dinner service and enjoyed their meal. This is such a nice theater that really nails the movie going experience. Highly recommend! read more

Studio One has gotten SO BAD!!! I've been here over two dozen times over the years and it was always an awesome experience until the last few visits that has made me give up entirely on it. The staff is rude, they obviously do not care... the drinks SUCK, basically water. The food has gotten so terrible and over priced. I cannot - not - recommend this theater enough. We ordered tickets online, but the photos and diagram were extremely confusing. It appeared we would be getting a round loveseat-style seat. What we actually got was a very small loveseat. The seats themselves were about the same size, if not smaller, than what you'd get at a regular theater. However, because this is marketed as a more upscale dine-in experience, there was absolutely no room for food. You're essentially balancing a pizza or steak on your lap while eating, so I chose just popcorn and a watered down soda. In addition to the unclear website, the servers seemed irritated when we tried to leave a tip and gave the impression they wanted to get away from us as soon as possible. We also were never checked on to see if we needed anything else. Throughout the movie, people were frequently walking in front of the screen. I expected a more premium experience than Century 21, but it actually turned out to be worse. Ultimately, I would not recommend this theater unless you know exactly what you're getting into because the website does not make that clear. read more

I take reviews very seriously. A 5-star review isn't terribly difficult to come by with me. I have said it over and over again... Simple expectations - good service, good food, good product, good experiences. In the world of service, that isn't difficult to provide. To get a 1-star review from me takes actual WORK. I must say, Studio One Theaters absolutely earned in every-single-way, this review. Let's start with purchasing tickets online. The platform is poor. The tickets are double the cost of any other small local theater. By the time you get to the purchase page, you're total will double in fees. They don't give you a confirmation number... you just have to assume your purchase went through. No confirmation email, nothing. The only way I knew I had made a purchase was by the charge on my credit card. The parking situation is poor. I was fortunate that I found a spot but the overall parking lot situation is a nightmare. We got stuck for 10+ minutes trying to leave, we finally escaped through an alley way. Alright, let's get to the actual experience. We arrived a bit early hoping to get our seats early or enjoy a drink at the bar. We stood around for 10 minutes while staff ignored us. Three behind the bar, one behind the register, two random floaters. They didn't as much as acknowledge our existence. After one of them finally got off the phone, we were acknowledged and told we needed to wait. We took a seat at the bar. I ordered a 10oz wine that was served in a tiny 8oz glass. The metal-and-glass bar was noticably dirty, the dust was thick on the shelves of the bar overhead. We were promptly ignored by the staff, only to get their attention when it was time to tab-out. Approximately 30 minutes before the movie, we were finally granted access to the theater. The manager invited us to the theater we had tickets for. We were then held hostage as we slowly crawled down the hallway while we were tormented with his pre-scripted speech. It started much like the disney script of "we have 45 members of our cast and crew" that work here 24/7 and 365. First, leave disney's script to disney (left lower-case so the review doesn't get flagged). None of the sales pitch was believable. This is a tiny little theater in Portland... the big-brand theaters don't even employ that many people per / theater. Much less, could any reasonable person believe that a theater has chefs and staff that work 24/7 at a theater open Monday-Friday from 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM and Saturday-Sunday from 8:30 AM to 11:00 PM. Doesn't even make sense. Then, out came the iPad pics of mediocre food he was trying hard to sell. No thanks. Once seated, our waiter appeared to take our orders. We asked for a few minutes to review the menu. The prices were outrageous. That's a difficult comment to get out of me... price doesn't matter when the product stands behind it's value... this however, immediately felt off. The waiter felt impatient and pushy. The minute we didn't order a ridiculously overpriced alcoholic beverage, he was done with us. He did return 10 minutes later, we resolved to a "medium" popcorn for $11 of which, was TERRIBLE. Honestly, I didn't know you could make bad popcorn. Studio One Theaters has BAD POPCORN. Tasteless, burnt, just awful. Once we ordered the popcorn, declined $30/ea appetizers and $40+/ea entrees, the waiter was done with us. He huffed away, never to return. The popcorn showed up, salt-less, cold, burnt, and tasteless. We pushed it around the weird metal bowl it came in and ultimately, gave up. The movie started and the talking started. First, everyone in the row behind us completely ignored the movie for the first 30-minutes. The water that had abandoned us completely and fully ignored us but had fog-horn volume conversations taking order, laughing, conversing, completely ignoring the movie that had just started. Then came the food. Orders being delivered, one after another on loud plates with chunky silverware. Nothing better than listening to spoons and forks scrape against plates while people conversed as though they were the only ones in the room... it then got worse... ...the people directly behind us decided to call the theater out on their less-than-mediocre menu. Everything they ordered was terrible, of which, we heard them very loudly and very clearly complaining to each other. When they complained to the waiter (mind you - WHILE the movie is playing!) he decided to argue before taking away the horrible food. THEN, making things even WORSE, here comes the manager. He decides to want a full narrative of what was wrong with the food and why. After a lengthy 5+ minute conversation, he then offered them more food, they declined because it was so bad. They left 1/2 way through the movie. The talking never stopped. Someone finally yelled out "shut up" near the end of the movie. People were rude. The staff was awful. The food and beverage was less than mediocre. This isn't worth a second try. Horrible. read more

I came here to watch a movie with my date. I preordered the tickets online and it was nice to pick out where we would sit. I picked a nice couch for us to lounge on. I think the location was a little too close to the screen so I would choose to sit further back in the future. We did not eat here but we did grab a drink. We love the concept of this place so we've returned several times over the years- but it somehow continues to get worse instead of better. Their setup leaves you waiting for awhile in a cramped area until a staff takes you back to a theatre, and service during the movie is always spotty- one of our items was forgotten last night, as were items for groups around us we saw. The biggest issue is the food is genuinely bad and cocktails are very hit or miss- I've tried multiple things and not loved any of it, so I usually skip food here, but kiddo wanted something last night so I tried to play it safe with popcorn, a snack and a dessert- the fondue was lumpy and tasted odd, and the bread also wasn't great with it- we tried to eat it but gave up halfway through. The chocolate chip cookies tasted of nothing but cinnamon for some reason. The popcorn arrived over an hour into the movie. We love going here every now and then. Very comfortable but the furniture is kind of worn out in certain rooms. The push on the menu as you walk you the rooms now is somewhat a turn-off. I usually get the hummus but there's so much hummus and not enough pita to go with it. Maybe add carrots or something?? My wife and I have been coming to Studio One for a couple years now and it's our theater of choice. What really made it special is last night I was able to bring my father in law to the movies with us and he is deaf. I haven't seen a movie with him in 6 years. The movie was late. Some dude had us stand against the wall and give a presentation like we were kids (it was 21+). The cheeky waiter took the tip money the minute it hit the table as i was going to determine service and said "I'll take that". I was too stunned to say anything. He took the food order and was impatient at that and we never saw him again. Terrible. Kids walking in front of the screen the whole movie collecting dishes. It was my first time at a place like this. It was a super cool experience. The quality of the movie graphics was good, like any normal big screen cinema. The ticket was average price of other theaters but the food is what can make the visit expensive. There was a lot on the menu & it was daunting so I only got a soda, popcorn, & the strawberry crème brûlée. The soda came in a glass cup with no refills, quite expensive for a little amount since there was a lot of ice. The popcorn was not good, it's "gourmet" popcorn. The strawberry crème brûlée was okay, I'd rather prefer regular crème brûlée. Service was good, they waited for a majority of people to show up then escorted us to our theatre room then showed us our seats. Then took our food orders while waiting for the movie to start. Overall, it was a cool experience but the food seemed mid. I saw some of the bigger entrees like burgers & such & it looked unimpressive for the price. Tldr ; I enjoyed the experience here overall, and will come back. Their Atmos system is worth the extra ticket price, but drinks/food are a bit much. Their Dolby Atmos system in the New York room is really great. I saw The Bone Temple, which isn't the flashiest demo of the technology, but I was still pretty impressed. I didn't even bother counting the speakers because there are so many. Almost a bit overkill for the room, but they are all small and accurate creating a very detailed image. The speakers visibly line the edges of the ceiling and cross overhead towards the screen. I'm sure there are more speakers I didn't spot as there is nice sub rumble through the floor too. Whoever put this setup together, I would love to have a conversation with you! I will say for constructive criticism, when I say the audio was "almost overkill", I mean it was too loud **for me** (I brought earplugs as I do for all movies and used them occasionally). Just my 2 cents, but I think it could have been down a bit lower considering the overwhelmingly immersive soundstage -- the 3D audio is so delectable, that to me volume becomes less important. Of course movies have a lot of dynamic range, and the theater seats 60 something, so it's a balancing act to create a good sweet spot and experience for everyone. I sat almost in the middle and recommend it. I often find myself complaining about sound being too loud in Portland area theaters, so take my words with a bit of a grain of salt. this room was really far from the worst offender in this way, but I had to say it since everything else sound and projection-wise was perfect. If you are really into film sound, this is a fantastic spot to experience it in Portland if you catch their Atmos setup. I will be back to hear more Captioning equipment was alright, but definitely left something to be desired. They brought caption equipment directly to my seat mid movie (nice!), but it was cupholder style equipment and there wasn't really a cupholder. I had to hold it between my legs / prop it against chairs, which worked fine I guess, but it left the captions lower than my line of sight consistently and was uncomfortable. Service was good. It's a bit too expensive especially for drinks - its hard to stomach AMC/Regal price drinks when there are so many great theaters in Portland with cheap drinks and good service (none of them have a surround setup this good though!). I agree with the other person that the push on the menu at the beginning was a bit awkward. We paid $89 for this: Roasted brussels sprouts: burnt, came in big bowl, good to eat if you're wanting something salty savory, and oily and you're two drinks in. Build your own board 3 items: Chicken strips - 3 ea, unremarkable reminded me of frozen Tyson's Coconut prawns - 3 ea, came out large and crispy, but dry, with sauce on the side Cheese plate (cost extra $ to choose this item) - soft sourdough mini slices on top of some jam nuts, and a few flimsy, slices of cheese. Felt like something I could buy from sprouts in a plastic to-go pack. Pan fried corn bread and candied jalepenos: dry (almost stale) af, the "fried" part tasted burnt, barely any butter so it was extra crumby and the jalepenos were soggy for lack of a better term. It felt like someone made cornbread and left it out for a day or two on the counter. Two project Hail Mary specials: the best part of the menu in our experience. The perfect alcohol content to flavor ratio. Fruity and The side tables to eat off of are difficult to move around bc it's couches and larger tv trays basically. PROS: I love the homey vibe. For starters, when you first arrive you're shoved into this cramped little area right in front of the bar, and made to wait for a host to bring you to the theatre. While standing here, all staff completely ignored us, one even pushing in front of us while not acknowledging us at all. I've worked customer service for a very long time and I understand how exhausting it can be, but this was unreal. The host brought us to the hallway and gave us a little presentation on the specials they were offering. It was a little awkward but nice anyways. We were brought in and the decor was pretty nice, albeit a bit pretentious, a vibe the whole place gives off. Our waiter was nice. The food was abysmal. The stuffed mushrooms were inedible, the steak frites had very little steak and what was there was dry. The Parmesan on the fries was an add on for $3.50 and for that price I expect way more than I got. The polenta fries were oily and flavorless, as was the chicken tenders. The coconut shrimp is ok. Great place to go see a movie, have a bite to eat, and maybe even sing. I like the themed rooms and the Paris room is my favorite one!

I was quite disappointed with the whole process of purchasing tickets, food and seating. The concept is wonderful but I will not be returning. Purchase process- extremely confusing, they need to explain what arthouse/matinee means if they're going to give both options. The options for the other movies were even more confusing I was thankful we weren't watching something else. The only part of the website that was helpful was the FAQ's. We were trying to figure out how to order food and a ticket which only the FAQ contained information on. You don't get to select your room even if your movie is the only showing. That really made all the difference in our experience. The food- I'm sure it's lovely! But the prices are absolutely insane. We came prepared to order for 4 people but I was disgusted by the gauged prices that we only ordered popcorn fries and soda. Which before tipping was $78 Seating- honestly the reason I won't come back. It is so disgusting. The stains are terribly bad and they need to show the condition of the seats when you are selecting them for purchase. ONLY sit in leather seats analyze the photos given of each theatre and be particular. We ended up sitting in leather seats due to the movie having low bookings but if they weren't an option we would have left. We did look over all the rooms while waiting and the room we were placed in, Rio, looked to be the worst. The only room we felt was somewhat decent was the Paris penthouse which I attached a video of. My family and I discussed the events they hold and came to the conclusion if people pay to hold business meetings here they are definitely booking them in the Paris penthouse. Any other room would not have been acceptable especially if they want to contribute to the representation of this business. I personally could only see a theatre like this succeeding if they strictly have leather seats. The only reason I gave them 2 stars is because their employees are very kind and I'm sure their food is good since that seems to be what their focus is on. But to eat good food in a dirty area is a big no for us. To add to my visit I realized last night about 4 hours after leaving that my neck had a bumpy patch. By morning, my face has completely broken out in hives... Please be cautious, bring a huge blanket to lay down on the furniture before sitting down!! read more

This place is way over priced and dirty. $18 for a movie ticket by the time you pay all the fees, and then you get some weird high-pressure sales as you walk to your theater, all to be sat at a recliner and a dirty table. $28 for a small charcuterie board and they don't even give you plates. So now you're trying to eat in the dark and anything that touches the dirty table I'm obviously not eating. The staff is as either ignoring you or giving you a weird high pressure sales speech to buy their "farm fresh" expensive food, and then they can't even bother to sweep the crumbs from the previous diner off your table. Oh! The sound proofing is also terrible so at the emotional climax of the film it's supposed to be dead quiet but in dead we can hear the wait staff chatting in the back. Go elsewhere. read more

Things only in Portland. There's a reason why they say stay weird, and sometimes weird isn't bad... it's creative! Like this concept! AMBIANCE: Parking: Plaza parking but it felt limited so make sure you come ahead of time before your movie. Experience: It's not in your Downtown area of Portland, just a casual plaza with your store, gas station, and other eateries. The spot itself is one of a kind. You're greeted with familiar rock music and you're welcomed in this dining room and bar. You have a good selection of food and drinks. We got gourmet butter - clarified butter and honey dust. The auditoriums were lovely and impressive. They felt comfortable, spacious, and really provided a nice ambience from a Tokyo feel, Rio feel, and more! TL;DR OVERALL: 5 stars. I've never seen anything like it. I didn't think it was worth watching a movie when traveling but this a pretty neat experience. If visiting, this is something worth considering. It's dirty (I was literally itchy sitting on the couches), old, screen flickers, drinks are watered down and overpriced, so is the food, the bartender on 12.28.25 night shift was rude and over all the staff seem like they would not care if this place burned down to ash and it shows. I almost never write reviews, but this experience was so bad I feel obligated to warn others. Seated at 5:40 PM. Ordered within five minutes. Didn't receive my food until after 8:00 PM - which means I paid for dinner which in fact was well over $200 that I never got to eat. At 7:30 PM, I had to leave my seat to track someone down and ended up speaking with the owner, Jason, who promised me a full refund after the movie. Sounds great... except after the movie ended, I stood waiting for help for another 15 minutes while being ignored, until I finally had to speak up just to get basic service. Multiple customers were also requesting refunds, which tells you everything you need to know about how the night went. If you enjoy paying for food you don't receive, waiting around to be ignored, and leaving frustrated, this is the place for you! I now own a $75 gift card I will never use. Do better, Jason & team - this was a masterclass in how NOT to run a business. UPDATE: After being promised that the refund would hit my card within a week, I can confirm it hasn't. I bought tickets online on the 18th. Money has been taken out of our bank account. I have tried to call and have left messages to no avail. I am very angry. I did receive a call back. Ooh was this an experience! I had no idea what to expect when my friends and I booked the front row couches. Neither was I aware of what the process, etiquette, or really anything other than the fact Studio One does dine-in movie experiences. What you should probably know : show up early, 20-30 minutes. We showed up 15 minutes early and definitely felt rushed. Dress comfortably. You are almost fully reclined if you book a couch. Plan accordingly. Food is EXPENSIVE and really not good for the price. Drinks however were worth the price, and poured well. Go for the experience, have low expectations, and you'll have a good time. read more

Updating a previous review, and unfortunately things haven't improved. Prices have gone up further with no return in value. Cleanliness and service have decreased. Recently saw Deadpool and Wolverine, and the waiter was having real issues getting our order correct- it made for a frustrating viewing experience. I want to keep coming here as an alternate to the big theaters but they're making it difficult to justify. read more

My friend and I came to see Evil Dead Burn at 1:05pm. No one greeted us when we came in so we were a bit confused on how everything worked. I had to go up to the counter to ask "do we just wait?" and the employee nodded in a way that implied "duh??". So after that encounter I was already feeling uneasy. Then a guy told us to "line up against the wall" and he started to talk our ear off about the menu??? I understand sharing specials but it was very weird to do it against our will, I wish we had a choice to hear about the menu or not. Then I show him my tickets and he starts to argue with me that I booked my seats wrong, when me and my friend were the only people being seated in one theatre?! Our waiter was okay but definitely not happy to serve us. The popcorn was bland (mind you, i've never complained about popcorn in my entire life). But the movie, the sound system, and the couches really were nice! After the movie the bartender asked us about the movie which was sweet and the only time we had felt good vibes. Just a piece of advice for management, please present with more warmth with customer service and please greet customers & ask them to wait and please stop making people line up like the military on the wall to go over the menu. If I have questions about the menu I will ask my server, it's overkill! read more

The value of Studio One Theaters is a living room experience in contrast to a sports stadium experience. With the living room experience you may get better sound too. I know something about sound. I have worked in professional recording studios. Movie sound has the greatest budgets in the industry. Movie sound is produced out in 2.1, 5.1 and higher Dolby ATMOS speaker formats. Dolby ATMOS theaters are rare because Dolby charges license fees. Studio One is the best ATMOS movie sound theatre in Oregon. ATMOS, when available, is specified in the schedule and ticketing. I saw Wicked there in 3d. For this film you get ATMOS, 3d came with it. The theater is family-friendly as seen in the audience. Most of the singing was recorded live by noted location recorder Simon Hayes, rather than being overdubbed in a studio. So it is worth experiencing the movie in a theater with good sound. The movie is the current generation's South Pacific, hopefully it will become available for live high school and college production. 5 stars for sound, comfort and service. 2 stars for the Caesar salad. 3 minus for management. The ticketing staff, buying in advance, was floaty and we had a bit of a random experience providing me, as an advance buyer in person, with a future paper ticket. Maybe online is smooth. You arrive at your theater room. Some entrances engage you with your server and ticket checker and some do not. When the servers identify you as a customer, they have a menu, payment, and serving. When I paid, I found the folder filled with a previous customer's cash. So I alerted the server and handed it back to them with my CC receipt. To the Caesar. In the dark it seemed to include kale, fine. The steak was sliced, and a steak knife was provided to make slices into a bite. The greens were wilty, disappointing. A Caesar should be crisp and crunchy! The dressing was overdone. It had lemon and oil. Garlic and anchovies were not in evidence. The greatest oddity, at least by dark and taste, was the parmesan in chunks, not grated. I would not order this dish until it is updated. The theaters share a parking lot with retail, so for some shows, you may need to seek parking in local streets and walk. The Studio One theaters are one of the best places in Portland to see movies for picture and sound. I hope they survive continuing to do so. Support them for that. read more

Cool place, great date night spot, decently tasty food. Being brought to the theatre by the host is a little weird but forgivable. It's expensive but you're paying for the experience and I'd say it's worth it once in a while. I saw 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple here, kind of a weird choice for a movie theatre where you eat dinner- it was pretty gnarly. The good: -couches/comfy seating -actual food -friendly staff -neat atmosphere The less good but not necessarily bad: -having to wait to be brought to the theatre by a host -much more expensive than a regular movie theatre -no cherry coke (but they do offer a Roy Rodgers) -the popcorn is REALLY buttery which is cool if you're into that but I was overwhelmed by the sogginess read more
