I got tickets from DoPDX for a one night only performance of CHURCH: Seven Deadly Sins - Wrath, and was intrigued - not quite sure what to expect. The theater is a classic adult film house (if walls could talk!) that has seen many changes over the years. It's evident that the community cherishes and fully supports this art establishment and vice versa. It's sponsored by PAM CUT, Portland Art Museum - Center for an Untold Tomorrow, that not only celebrates cinematic storytelling, but embraces both local and national artists' creative vision. The experiences can be immersive and interactive, adding to the fun! I was cheerfully greeted upon my early arrival and told that I could sit in any 'Reserved' seats. The theater seemed more spacious than most and, while not recliners, the chairs were very comfortable and had a flip up table for snacks, etc. (it took me a while to figure that out) and cup holders on the seats in front of us. Their schedule was a thoughtfully planned event calendar, featuring holiday (pre-Xmas), independent, and classic films, hosted by drag entertainment emcees, local organizations, as well as film directors. The concession stand was a treat; with typical fare with a twist. Cocktails, mocktails, beer, wine, soda, candy, fresh baked cookies to nibble, and if you have an appetite, pizza & popcorn. Don't miss the snack station, complete with napkins and popcorn seasonings! I appreciate the diversity and warmth of expression and hope to make their viewing of Sugarcane, hosted by the Native Arts & Cultures Foundation, with a Q&A following the film, the end of this month. Oh, and the show we saw was awesome, complete with a choir, band, sing-along 'hymnal' programs, and a talented flute / acoustic artist. It was unlike anything I'd experienced. We went to see an independent documentary here just last week. I'd been dying to see it and this is the only showing they had scheduled in Portland! Thanks for choosing to show it. The energy was great and there was a great turnout. The seat numbering is a little confusing at first, all the numbers are on the back of the chairs. Had a great time at tomorrow theater watching Moulin Rouge. We sat in E6 and E7 and the view was great - I am on the shorter side so I think any closer would be tough. As stated in other reviews the seats aren't the best, however it didn't really feel uncomfortable until maybe the last 10 minutes of the 2 hour movie. Their concession stand is well priced and both their old fashioned and margarita was tasty. read more

Checked out the Tomorrow Theater last night for the first time and had a great time! I attended the Friday the 13th 3D/Bingo showing and loved the combo! The host, Violet Hex was fabulous and made the bingo cards themed to the movie, death by 3D check! Fun prizes for everyone who completed their card too! The only thing I didn't love was the prices of the concessions, $6 can of water....no thank you. But they did have lots of drink and food options. Overall I would recommend and will be back! read more

I have nothing but good things to say about this beautiful, quirky, and wonderful theater. The venue itself has the aesthetics of a classic theater and it's full of personality. Quality audio and video, you won't be disappointed. The staff is absolutely amazing. I celebrated my 10 year anniversary today and made a ridiculous film for my wife as a surprise. Wanting to give the illusion of a real film, it was important to make everything seem legitimate. I rented out the theater, and they worked with my unique request to the tee. They accommodated my film, how I wanted it to be presented, and went out of their way to ensure every detail of my ridiculous plan was covered. They were excited for me, and really made me comfortable with the entire process. They helped sell the illusion and helped realize this crazy idea of mine and helped create a memory we will hold for a long time. Thank you to all of the staff for all that you did. From coming up with a solution to protecting the gift inside of the popcorn, the custom music playlist, to the timing of the start of the film and everything. Thank you Samae for the communication and ease of this process. I had no idea what I was doing and you helped me through every step, whether you knew it or not. Love all the space between seats. Great if you have long legs. At first the seats seem comfortable but after a while not as much. Hard to put my finger on it maybe they just don't breathe and everything feels a bit sloped. Don't get me wrong other places are much worse. It's small and intimate with no bad viewing seats. We have gone for two events so far. Cat video fest which is awesome!! And the Banana Pitch which I think you would enjoy much more if you were high on something. One jello shot wasn't enough. I think we will keep trying out other events they have a very diverse line up. read more

Went to this quirky little old school neighborhood theatre on Halloween and wasn't dissapointed as it was exactly as I was told it would be. The place has room between the seats so you can stretch out and they are staggered so your view is never blocked. The sound and screen are up to par just fine so there isn't anything lacking that would interfere with a great experience here. We watched a Japanese "horror" film called The House, laughed like children and enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. the next time I am Portland I would consider stopping here again for a film or interesting event. read more

I want to give this place five stars for quite a few reasons so I will start with the great things this theater has. I see so many things I want to attend here which is a great sign. I just came here for the first time to see a drag icon perform and many of their offerings show an attractiveness for a diverse audience. Automatically, that gives me a desire to support a business since representation matters. As a person with ADA needs I really do appreciate not having to really fight to navigate spaces also. I get nervous when going into a new space, especially to anything sold out or approaching that level of a crowd. They have a very well placed and easier to get to ADA section with seats the are moveable yet also space that allow for walkers, canes or just space to move about. Somedays I can move easier and some days I look like a giant wooden creature that cannot bend anything so I need more room. Also their ADA is right in the middle whereas a lot of venues really shove us up in some tucked away corner that can be awkward to get in and out of or is poorly lit. Parking - I will start here with the negatives. This theater is up against a pretty tight residential area so the streets are full already from the people who actually live here. Finding parking is a pretty big challenge with that and especially since there are a lot of places along here for food, dessert, bars etc. The sidewalk along for the businesses are ok but I took a pretty bad fall walking blocks back to my car thanks to uneven sidewalks and poorly lit streets so warning... be mindful if you are having to walk a bunch. Concessions - I am always excited to try some snacks but was disappointed. I am going to try to get here much earlier next time so I can order more effectively. I looked them up before hand online and honestly was figuring I would get more information in person because the menu just says that they have popcorn, candy, soda, drinks and pizza but not really what exactly. AT the counter I could see hardly anything for sale - a few boxes of candy like a movie theater only way less options, no signs at all for pizza options but popcorn... a little indication that there were beer and soda for sale. I started asking for a popcorn and one of them started scooping popcorn into a bag the second I asked for a popcorn with a ton of butter but the person ringing me up said they have no liquid butter. I was confused because genuinely, what would the point of that be? I'm French... no butter? Does not compute... She then said they have.... POWDERED options at the counter way over that way... Like what? I do not know if that is a permanent condition or they were out - I was just like, "How dare you!" and walked away... I saw people in the theater with various drinks so they have those. I am fine seeing a show without popcorn and would have just planned to get a drink had I known... I have been talking with different friends about seeing a movie here - that requires popcorn...with liquid butter. For food there are a lot of great options pretty close by if you want to eat before or after a thing though. They do offer Arts for All for their movie showings at $5 but you need to buy the tickets there. They did offer my friend to get her tickets in advance and get refunded the difference when she comes due to her mobility issues. I am uncertain how fast or if the movies fill up for you to get tickets etc. read more

Great venue to see movies (usually paired with some live performance). Folks who work there are kind and knowledgeable. Consession food is pizza: cheese, vegi or pepperoni, unbuttered popcorn or candy. Drinks include non-alcoholic options as well as beer, wine and limited premixed cocktails. My only suggestions for improvement are please add real butter to the popcorn and provide the menu to folks at the counter. The only way to see the food & drink listing when you are at the counter is to turn around to view it on the opposite wall. Often there are people lined up blocking it. read more
