I see why people reviewed this theater so low: no stadium seating, bathrooms like an old high school locker room, and ticket prices high even for matinees. However, I had a good time despite a non luxury facility. It is in a great location downtown where overhead can't be cheap. They keep the place clean, including the bathrooms. And who doesn't like riding escalators?! Relive those childhood days when your parents couldn't keep you off those things at this movie house. The seating is strategically placed that unless you sit behind Marg Simpson, you'll see the screen just fine. Horrible experience. Parking is very expensive and they do not validate. I brought my dad who's in a wheelchair and they do not have accessible entrances. I had to open the heavy doors by myself and the two employees just watched me. Then when I was trying to purchase tickets the girl at the ticket counter was arguing with me and said I could not purchase a regular seat for my dad because there is no where to park the wheelchair. Granted this is a 11:20am show with hardly anyone in the theater. After arguing for 10 minutes she just gave the ticket without saying another word. After the movie-same situation. Three employees were standing around the entrance and no one offered to help me with the door as I was struggling to exit the double door while maneuvering the wheelchair through the doors. read more

Any and every time a movie i have been dying to see comes out and i call MOVIEFONE or check for theatre listings on Fandango, my eager anticipation turns into restless anxiety when I find out the movie is playing at THE MERIDIAN 16. WHY? because there is ONE good theatre in the whole joint that doesn't cause me physical and mental anguish. the funny thing is, prior to this very year i always got that ONE good theatre. so i thought this venue was GREAT. then i started hanging out with a friend who refused to see any movie, no matter how long he'd been waiting to see it, if it was playing at this theater. even if it was the ONLY theater a movie was playing at. we convinced him to suck it up earlier this year to check out Bourne Ulitmatum.. we got one of the OTHER theaters - the ones down the hall on either floor of this place...and i swear...to..god-uh... ...you sit down and all you see are heads and shoulders. when subtitles come on, all you see are heads swinging from side to side and necks extending and shortening, everyone trying to get around everyone else's big noggin' to read something lame like "2 days later...". ever since this moment, every movie i have ever seen at this place has been in one of these "OTHER" theaters..and every movie has had something for me to read that I can't read because some tall frat boy with a faux-hawk is sitting in front of me and someone taller than him is sitting in front of him. I saw Eastern Promises here, which I heard was a great movie. But I hated it. was it the movie? or was it the theater that i hated? i couldn't tell you to be honest. The Physical Anguish is caused by the constant movement needed in order to see the screen. I gave up trying to read the subtitles because it was just corny and ridiculous to see all the moving heads bobbing and weaving. I had to force myself NOT to watch the crowd jiggling around to try to read the subtitles or I would bust out laughing. The Mental Anguish is caused by the horrible sound system and acoustics and yes, i'm going to talk about the subtitles again....knowing that there are important things to read, and then realizing that you are doomed to never know what the movie is about because you can't read the shiz for the life of you. Ok ok back to the sound...all the sound comes from the front of the house.. it doesn't surround you. and when you aren't surrounded by sound in a theater, other people's noisy antics seem to amplify... like some dude 4 rows down farted and his friends laughed for the next 20 minutes about it. i heard the fart like it was 2" in from my eardrum because there was no surround sound to mute the bastard. if you are surprised i even rated this place a 3 and not a 1 or 2, it's because the theater: 1) is close to where i live and DOES play every single movie you ever want to see. AND 2) it has a galaga/ms. pacman arcade game and 3) it's also surrounded by umpteen parking garages for all you out-of-towners. read more

I know it's not the theaters fault that they charge $10.25 for ONE ticket... or is it!? Pacific place is the same price - but I have to say, the experience is much better. Unfortunately for me, many of the movies I've seen in the past couple months have only been shown here. Cons: The parking around it, for lack of a better word sucks - so just go to Pacific Place and park in the lot for cheaper than the garage below the theater. There are lots of stairs, which is no fun for a lazy person, and the bathrooms are hard to find and it doesn't always seem like the cleanest place. I liked this theatre, but it really wasn't anything special. My first trip here was yesterday to see Alice in Wonderland 3D - about two months after it was released. It was still on a big screen with a great sound system. I had bought my tickets using a promotion on Fandango, and since I didn't have a printer, I printed them out at the theatre kiosk. It went swimmingly well. Now, anyone who knows me knows that I would never advocate against the interests of a large corporation, but let me just say that there probably won't be any troubles for anyone skipping the concession kiosks and instead consuming homegrown alternatives. Lastly, the whole layout is a bit weird and the bathrooms are hard to find. Parking is going to cost about $10 unless you are REALLY lucky and find a street spot - I found one after hunting for five minutes or so, but YMMV. Overall, I would probably not come to this theatre again unless I was already walking around this area. Maybe on a Thursday night: Gameworks is right next door, so you can have a $10 all-you -can-game night and start it out with a matinée. read more

This place is great for later-than-average showtimes. You can usually find something playing around 1030 or so. I'm not going to dog this place because of the usual things that you should just know when you go to a googleplex monstro theater. It's kids and chaos and overpriced everything. You are likely to have cell phones going off throughout the movie and will almost certainly see the lights from phone screens all over the theater. But that's just.... wait... It may not be the newest, most comfortable theatre but it's still a goodie and conveniently located in downtown Seattle with parking across the street. Though please note that parking in the garage is just as expensive as street side now so for your money you might as well have a little more security in a garage. I have seen many flicks here and it's been good every time. The only time it sucked was not because of the theatre or staff but because I had the poor misfortune to see a craptastic movie and wish I had my 2 hours and $10 back. The staff is nice. The floors, in my experience, are not sticky and the popcorn is good but not great. I think this is a great place to try if you're looking for a convenient spot to catch a movie. read more

I could not even begin to count the number of movies I have seen here over the years. No, it is not the most modern cinema in the world. But, it has, in my opinion, much to offer: 1) Convenient downtown location makes taking in a late afternoon matinee (or early evening preview) ever so easy. 2) In addition to the usual big Hollywood blockbuster fare, it is not unusual to find a more obscure indie or foreign flick on at least one at least one of the screens. 3) The management here is awesome. One time, we were at a preview and the film broke and it was several minutes before it got rolling again. The manager came in to apologize for the inconvenience and, at the end of the film, offered us all a voucher to come back and see another movie for free. Pretty cool considering we had not even paid for the original film. Another time, they exchanged, without argument, a ticket my husband had purchased when he realized after he'd bought the original ticket that there was an earlier screening of the film that would be more convenient for him to attend. And, more than once, I have seen them make order out of chaos when a preview line starts to zig-zag a bit too much or threatens to expand into Gameworks next door. 4) Despite the lack of stadium seating, I have never had a bad seat here -- and I am pretty fussy about where I sit. 5) They have a conveniently accessible staircase that makes it easy to make a quick exit at the end of the movie, which is great if you, like me, prefer to move and not just stand on a crowded escalator. Compared to other theaters in the area as well as the Regal in Northgate, this location is not worth it unless you happen to be in downtown. I haven't been in all the theaters, but in the ones I have they do not have stadium seating and some of the seats are falling apart. The arm rest to my sisters chair kept falling off throughout the entire movie! We went to this theater because the movie we wanted to see was playing here and it is close to some great food options. There are definitely better options nearby or if you are a regal fan, make the drive up to Northgate. They have free parking and the theater looks amazing! The parking around this theater was a nightmare and I will never try to do that again!! read more

This place is close home, so I end up here often enough. Like more and more theaters are starting to do, this Regal site has electronic booths where you can buy tickets. These usually move a faster than the ticket counters. The concession stand has the usual goodies at the usual high prices, and the cinema seating is comfy enough. One thing about Regal in general. They have a Regal Card, which allows you to accumulate points towards freebies like soda, pop corn and even movies. Until recently, you needed to present the card at purchase in order to accumulate points, which, absent-minded me, I usually left home, resulting in many missed points. But no longer! Regal now has a very decent mobile app, which allows you to accumulate points as long as you have your phone with you. read more

Pretty average movie theater, normal seats and normal concessions. I really like the app that helps get you rewards as you come back here and I have been to a number of movies here as a result. The reason it didn't get more stars is the concessions are below average. Not a big fan of this theater. The experience varies widely depending on which theater you're actually in. While they have 16 screens, some of the screens are super small. Some of the screens also have stains and tears which once I noticed it I couldn't help but stare. The seats are also not terribly comfortable or roomy. I don't think the seats have been replaced since this place opened. The springs totally stick out. At the end of the day, the theater is serviceable. There are better movie theaters nearby. Parking is absolutely horrible and if you park in the structure next to the theater it'll cost you at least three times what the movie costed. The common areas within the theater are dated and are a little in disrepair (the theater itself just looks old, worn down, and has that tinge of uncleanliness that comes with age). My biggest gripe, however, is that seating is bad. The setup of the seating inside the theaters is horrible and if you're on the shorter side you're going to have an impossible time seeing over the seats and people in front of you. The theater is nice on the outside, but in the accrual theater it seriously needs a make over, I know everyone is spoiled on stadium seating, but seriously that is what it needs. It's a great location in the heart of Seattle and the staff are friendly enough. Best of all you can still bring no matter n your own drinks, unlike AMC who lost as my go to me vie theater with their greed of wanting to make me get a $7 soda rather than a Starbucks coffee, but I'll leave that for another review read more

Regal Meridian - Cinema Near Me - Seattle, Washington

This review pertains to the new 4dx theater experience where my brother and I watched Black Panther. I've been waiting to check this out for a while, but was hesitant to check it out because at 25 bucks a ticket (before fees, total cost for 2 tickets was $56) I can go to either Cinerama or IMAX at the Science center for $5-10 cheaper. We wanted to experience the opening night atmosphere and couldn't find 2 seats available in the upper 4 rows when we went online to pick out seats. We bought 2 seats in the second row, which normally I wouldn't go for, but as there's only 6 rows in the entire auditorium we didn't think it would be detrimental to the viewing experience . We were super excited both for Black Panther and to try 4D so we showed up about 25 minutes before showtime. We got to our seats and while both agreed the two lower rows weren't ideal, they weren't worth cancelling our seats, but that if we liked 4d and came back some day we would only buy tickets in the upper 4 rows. Our first impression was that the chairs looked really cool. Really big chairs with lots of contraptions with two separate platforms for your feet. They don't recline, are very upright, and are not very ergonomic or comfortable. After the trailers played we got our first taste of the 4d experience when the Regal Coaster that plays before all Regal movies came up on screen enhanced with all 4d effects and the whole theater was giggling with joy by the end of it. The way the chairs simulate gliding is really effective and the Regal Coaster along with a car chase scene in black panther where the highlights of the night. The 4d effects overall were a mixed bag. The gliding of the chairs was fun and mostly synced pretty well with the movie. The chair vibrators were fun, and could even simulate gentle punches in your upper back that made me laugh when used at the beginning of a fight sequence. There was a sequence involving a waterfall that used water mist in a really fun way, and you have the option to turn it off if you don't care for it. It shoots puffs of air from behind and in front that were used primarily to make it feel as if though bullets were flying past you. These weren't really synced well enough to the movie to really enhance the experience. There's a flower/herb that was grown as part of the plot of Black Panther, and that was the only time I detected any smell they added to the movie, and I would say mostly pleasant. There were however, a couple effects that in my opinion actually detracted from my enjoyment of the movie. The chairs rumbled and shook during explosions and hand to hand combat scenes, which in and of itself didn't bother me. However, the frequency with which this effect was used coupled with the fact that the chairs weren't very comfortable in the first place made for a pretty brutal experience for our behinds. When the chairs rumbled and where tilted forward, it made it difficult to keep your eyes on the screen. There was a "wind" effect (or at least that's what I think it was) that primarily consisted of really loud fans coming from overhead that I didn't really feel but definitely heard. There was also a "lightning" effect. There wasn't any lightning in the movie, but it would sometimes be used when there was sparks in the movie or gunfire. It basically just consisted of a light from the side of the auditorium that was as if though someone took a picture of the screen with the flash on. Ambient light and projectors don't mix people! So in summary, I would have to say that 4d in this iteration isn't ready for prime time. The 3d doesn't really compete with the crystal clear 3d I saw after they remodeled the Pacific Science Center IMAX. The surround sound doesn't compete with either IMAX or Dolby Atmos. The 4d effects are fun at times, but in some cases are overly-gimmicky and detract from the overall experience and without a doubt don't justify the pricepoint, especially compared to other premium formats (Cinerama, IMAX, Dolby Vision) that currently exist. read more

Not the best and certainly not the worst corporate movie theater. For the most part this theater has been a good experience for me. I always get the kid's pack (small popcorn, soda, and a small packet of candy for $6.50 or $7 I can't remember). The staff is friendly enough for the brief interactions with them that movie patrons generally have. I like their escalators (does that make me weird?) and how they have over sized banners and posters for upcoming attractions hung over the railings that you can look at as you take the escalators. Sure Pacific Place is a bit more upscale but I can't say that I ever notice once they turn off the lights and turn on the movie. The Meridian moves their lines faster than Pacific Place does too. I almost never end up waiting in line for my ticket. read more

I'm short and it's hard to see when someone sits in front of me. I generally prefer stadium seating. The seats are not comfortable and recently, the seats just feel dirty and smell. I've seen several movies here. The place is fine. There's nothing really special about it except for the location. This theater and Pacific place have between them most movies out at a given time. Next door to it is Gameworks, which is great if you've got kids with you or you're a kid yourself and want to play some video games after a movie. The have a good number of screens here. Now, I'd rate this probably one-star if it weren't for some exceptional customer service I received today. It's not really the theater itself that I'd want to rate so low, as it's your everyday major corporation multiplex. Meaning way too salty popcorn, insane prices, and tickets that are at least three hours of work for most Americans. As a city transplant, I still cling to my small town theater with lovingly made concessions and ticket prices from the 80s. Having said that- Lucy, I believe her name was, provided exceptional customer service when I came in a little banged up. ...okay, I'm a klutz and fell and scraped myself pretty well. She went out of her way to find some band aids when I inquired and some individually wrapped alcohol wipes too. To be more of an annoying customer, I had two loyalty cards I had used once every two years or so when my small beloved theater wasn't playing a movie I had to see. She worked so hard on getting the balance on each and even let me know how to combine the totals so I could get the most of my separate member cards. Lucy- worked about 5ish on 10/9 at the cashier, could be wrong on the name- is a true asset! She gets 5 stars, and was enough to make this theater snob rate a Regal 3 stars. My seat was shaking and vibrating on and off throughout the last two movies I have been to because they didn't isolate vibration between the regular theaters and the 4D ones. If u have regal cinemas crown club card, do take it and show them when u are buying the ticket. If u have made enough points, they will tell u if u are getting free pop corn or not. My boyfriend and I, both just above the age of 17, were planning on going to a R-Rated movie at Meridian 16. We purchased our tickets with no problem, bought candy for the movie and proceeded to the theater. My boyfriend handed his ticket and got through with no problem. I, however, was asked to show my ID to prove I was above 17. I had forgotten my ID as I hadn't driven so I handed the staff member my student ID showing proof of my age. The staff member and his manager both rejected my student ID as a legitimate proof of age. I attempted to understand the reasoning behind this rule, but both staff members were short and inconsiderate of the inconvenience and damper this had placed on the evening and asked us to get our money back. I am upset not because of the strictness to check ID's but at the inconsistent and unsympathetic way in which they adhered to this rule. The staff member who sold us our tickets did not check for ID and my boyfriend was not checked. As well, no staff member seemed to want to help us nor encourage us to even return our ticket to see another movie at Meridian 16. In all, I was dissatisfied and disappointed with the customer service or lack thereof here at Meridian 16. And so, my boyfriend and I took our business elsewhere at AMC Pacific Place. read more
