I enjoy coming to Regal Metropolitan to attend free movie screenings because the location is so convenient to me in South Austin. There is plenty of parking available and the theater is usually well maintained. The staff is organized and friendly, especially with the huge turn out. Even when the long lines, everything moves smoothly and the vibe stays positive. The theaters are clean, seats are reclining which is comfortable, and the sound quality is consistently great. They have a variety of concession options and if you join the Regal Crown Club, you can get deals on ticket and concessions and purchase tickets online. It's such a treat to be able to see movies here before general release, and this location does a great job hosting those events. I will definitely keep coming back for more screenings! read more

This Regal location is my go-to spot since it is super close to me. I like to come on random weeknights alone so I can watch when it's not too busy and don't have to stress about scheduling with other friends. This location also recently updated their theater seating to large, wide leather recliners, similar to what you'd get at an Alamo. I didn't care so much about the comfort since I always came at less busier showtimes but this is overall a welcome upgrade, especially when I come for major blockbuster opening nights. The one downside to this location specifically is it doesn't carry some of the indie or limited releases that you would find at the Westgate location or Alamos in general. But overall, this is my favorite location when I want a comfortable, no-frills viewing at 8pm in sweats. read more

I am not sure what the Greek/Art Deco interior design & architectural theme is meant to be but it works. I don't know much about the history but it seems this was a rather modern theatre concept in the early days of luxury movie watching. The place is spotless from the lobby to the theatres (no garbage or leftover food in the seats), to the bathrooms. Seating is really comfortable and the sound is top quality. read more

It is definitely time to update my last review from years ago. I recently joined Regal Unlimited for 3 months, and saw my first movie at the Met last night. They have updated comfy recliners, and have added electronic kiosks so you can order food and tickets with convenience. With unlimited, if you order in theater, you don't pay the convenience fee, so that worked out perfectly. The associates are friendly and hard-working; I used my points to grab a free Bavarian pretzel. On the way out, I grabbed my very own Project Hail Mary popcorn bucket. This theater used to be my home away from home, and now that I live walking distance and am all in on Regal Unlimited, it will be again. Thanks for the hospitality; as an ex Alamo fan, I also appreciated the "no talking no texting" message before the film. My small crowd was appreciative and respectful, and the vibe is just more chill than the neighboring Westgate. I am really looking forward to Mystery Movie Monday next month. Give the Met a try; the updates to the theater have really elevated the experience from previous visits. read more

This review literally pains me to write. My experience here was no where close to the normal 5 stars. And that is out of the normal for Regal. There was a very large line to get tickets inside and get up to the concession area. This is where the problems began. The staff had absolutely no control over the customers. Many many of us waiting in line for over 10-15 minutes continuously watched as others did not use the line but walked right up to the counter and were not turned away or told to please get in line that others were waiting. We watched in disbelief of 2 ladies in the far line motion the whole family to come in behind them as they were walking through the front doors. Completely having total disrespect of those in line. Do better next time. Please honor those that are following the rules and waiting in line. And let the line move so those with pre purchased tickets cannot be LATE for their movie! I hate when a place gets the Kris Jenner and the reviews don't reflect its current condition. Y'all. MY REVIEW IS THE ONLY ONE YOU NEED IN 2026. The seats are coooomfy, the place is clean, and it's location is accessible near the freeway. You can easily purchase tickets online, but if you buy them in person, they're sold at the concessions stand--which isn't really an extra stop, since the entrance funnels you there anyway. While you're headed through, don't be distracted by the merch, as interesting, you'll have to go through it. I respect the hustle. If Marshalls can do it, why not a movie theater?? Due to its location, I can see why some people hesitate to come here. It's a bit secluded with dim lighting in a gritty area. The 4D experience at Regal is pretty cool!! We watched the new Mission Impossible movie in 4DX with lights, sounds and wind/air effects and the seats legit moved during the action scenes. It started out as a fun novelty but can get a bit much during a 2+ hours movie, especially when the seat makes sudden jolts and you take a few hits to the back and hip. It was also strange that there was no staff member anywhere near the theatre area, no one checked our tickets anywhere. I used to love coming to this theater all the time. It's still one of the better ones in town. The seats recline and they have slide out tray tables for your food. The popcorn was yummy great, until we got the refill. It tasted like putrid butter and smelled like trash. The concession prices were crazy high as expected. But you can grab a souvenir or two while waiting in line. That you had to buy tickets at the concession stand was clever, but it means you need to plan ahead and get there early so you don't miss your film. read more

I was here recently to watch the Jurassic park and I should say the experience was below normal. Though the seats were in great condition and the ambiance was approvable, I was not able to redeem my tickets at the Box office. Instead we had to wait in the cafe queue and redeem it. Though the people were nice, we had to fight our way amongst those waiting in queue to get their food. This should be avoided since it might cause a delay to those who do not want to get food but still experience the long wait time. The next bad experience was the audio system itself. It wasn't like a surround speaker system or atmos experience. The audio was only played from the front and it was like watching a movie from a regular TV. I'm pretty surprised by the low reviews, maybe I came at a good day or time where everything was freshly scrubbed and running fine? The outside looks fancy, but it isn't any thing extra special once you get indoors. It's clean and organized and seems just fine. It's a typical Regal. Concessions took a a bit of time since there was a line. That was strange because there was hardly anyone present. The seats are ok, and I haven't had to navigate a crowd in this place yet. Went in on a Tuesday when it's cheaper, waited in line for a bit, bought our tickets and snacks (drinks) and watched the movie. Totally standard movie-going experience. I saw someone say the water fountains and closed-captioning devices didn't work, but I can't comment on that since I didn't use them. I hope that has been fixed since. read more

I'm currently at the theater in #12 and there's no A/C. It's probably 85 degrees and stuffy. The manager lied and said she put it on about 30 mins, and then said she would look into it when asked about it again a 2nd time , but now seeing these reviews it's obvious this is an ongoing issue. It's disappointing that a manager would now at least warn customers or put into action fixing an issue like this. I will ask for my money back. read more

I was so happy to see this movie theatre back open as I was looking for movie listings. They have always kept a clean appearance inside & out and they did not let COVID effect them. I took my daughter to see boss baby 2 and the movie was great the seats were clean and our popcorn was hot with fresh butter. The movie was fine but the reason that I'm giving this bad review even though I don't want to it Hass to be said there was one person working the tickets and the concession he was doing both jobs he was a hard worker though, but he was painfully slow, also, there should be more than one person working even though it's a weekday when there's more than one person seeing a movie. The only reason I did not miss or was late to the movies was because I got there earlier even with me getting the ticket online ahead of time, it did take 10 minutes for me to scan my ticket and to get my concessions. Also, you need to take better care of your sanitation as I got sick after having an icy from there. Can't imagine I'll be back. The only reason trust me the only reason I'm giving it more than one star was the popcorn was pretty good. read more

We went on a Friday night to a big movie so the theater was crowded. People were switching seats and trying to move around. Sooo many people were talking at full volume and using their cellphone. One person took selfish for 20 minutes. The ticket cost $16!!! Which is way too high for such a poor movie going experience. The manager should address the inconsiderate behavior. read more

My family and I went to see Oppenheimer this evening and were overjoyed that we had the theater all to ourselves, when other theaters i. town were either sold out or didn't have any good seating left. Well 5 minutes into the previews we found out why. My daughter accused me passing wind and I said I didn't and she really didn't believe me. I was confused but oh well, kids. I went to the restroom afterwards because this is a 3 hour movie and I noticed that the women's restroom was located directly under the stadium seating of the theater we were in. As I returned I mentioned to my wife how close the women's restroom is in case she had to go during the movie. After a few minutes it hit me. The horrible stench of sewage wafted where we were sitting and I instantly knew why my kid accused me of passing gas. We could smell the sewage gas from the women's restroom. Who designed this place? We have been going here for 20+ years but never again. Super gross. read more

This theater needs to be remodel stat! Upon ordering our tickets we learned there was no assigned seating which was a little annoying. I like to order tickets in advance if possible and also make sure I get an aisle seat. It is a little more important for me currently due to my knee surgery. Anyway, since we were early to the show, we got a beer at the concession area. There is limited choices some good and some bad. Of course that is always subjective. We also learned it was one drink per person per transaction at a time and each person could only get 3 beers. Ummm what??? I wasn't planning to drink maybe 1 but why should I have a limit on how many I consume? That is like Trudy's crap that says you can only have 2 Mexican martinis per person. Which is a little understandable because two will make you feel really good. haha Anyway, the theater overall was small and cramped. When we entered there was trash everywhere from probably early morning shows. An employee came about 20 mins before the movie started and cleaned up maybe 5 things. The carpet was brand new, clean bathrooms and my theater had new reclining seats with a rotating tray. The seat are not recliners like most theaters and the popcorn was chewy and instead of coke products, they offer Pepsi products which most people considered a cheaper option. But came here to say it was a great movie experience! Clean theater, clean bathroom, reclining seats, no smells except a fresh remodel smell, mostly empty theater, spent $24 on a white claw, a small (that was huge) Starry (no sprite), and a Nathan's hot dog. I do agree they show wayyyy too many commercials beforehand. Movie was to start at 7:20p and after all the commercials and a few trailers, it started closer to 7:45p. We go to this movie theater often and have never had an issue until tonight (7/21), the opening Friday of Oppenheimer. There was 0 air conditioning. I heard the a man say he asked, and the theater said that it went out LAST WEEK. Why would you put 1/2 of the biggest movies of the year in a theater with no air conditioning? Paid around $10 to sit in a dirty theatre at 4 pm. The previews played on a blank screen sound only. I told a staff member he told me that was normal but when the movie starts the screen will work. It's a Regal, I went to them regularly in high school and very little has changed apparently. We went here on a Friday night when Alamo was completely sold out... Back to holding printed tickets, standing in line, glaring at other patrons out of fear they'll take all the good seats, and having to leave the theater to get snacks. This is what theater experiences used to be, sure, and I have been spoiled by the Alamo's convenience. Theater had gross sticky/crumby floors, trash cans outside overflowed, everything was just kind of depressing... but did we see the movie we wanted? Yes, and that was the point. It just wasn't a great atmosphere. People freely talked during the movie, I didn't really care because at Alamo my husband always tries to talk to me during the show and I feel like a criminal if I respond to him, but I can imagine the lack of respectful silence could be annoying to most people. Prices are outrageous (cue Seinfeld joke), it cost more to get a medium popcorn than a beer, like $9 vs $7. My husband angrily reported to me (during the movie...) that he went to get another beer and was denied (by the same guy who served him before) because he didn't bring his ID with. Yep, so remember to bring your wallet and your ticket with you if you need to purchase something at the concession counter. Overall, this is a standard corporate movie theater experience; not great but we got to see the otherwise sold-out movie we wanted. Staff was actually pretty decent, considering where they're stuck working. Go with low expectations... and be prepared to be transported back to 2006. read more

I love the Regal theaters. They just seem to be so much nicer than the Cinemark's around town; cleaner, better customer service, nicer seats, etc. I have a Regal Crown Club card and that's something I do recommend everyone getting. There are rewards that come with purchases there and all sorts of "freebies" on certain nights. just get one, ok? This Regal theater has the bonus of being close to a plethora of eateries, which makes a date night an easy feat. The folks here are always friendly and are happy to keep the fresh corn coming! If you get a large drink and popcorn, refills are free. The seats have the arms that come up, so there's always space for snugglin during that scary flick or romantic comedy. read more

Sorry, but if you are an adult who values their money, this is not the theatre for you. Absolutely worst movie-going experience of all time tonight at this place. Went with my girlfriend to see 8:10p showing of The Nun, an R rated horror film. Upon entering, found the audience was about 80% children around middle school age; no parents in sight of course, save for one woman who had the amazing logic to bring her toddler. I don't think we went 5 minutes of this movie without some group getting up, changing seats, making loud noises, blatantly talking, and slamming who knows what on their chairs. At one point it got so bad, I could not even hear the dialogue of the film. I can pass this experience as a one-off, save that this is now the second time I have gone to an R rated film here only to be sitting in a pre-teen daycare. This is not a cheap theatre any means, so your money will absolutely be better off spent somewhere else; maybe like a theatre that serves dinner, has a no talking policy and actually values their clientele who have jobs. Hmmm... Will absolutely not be returning unless this theatre implements something 18+ rules and actually enforces them. read more

For those who live south of Ben White, this is a great theatre to catch all the big Hollywood movies. (Save Westgate for the non-action films - their screens are too small.) The building itself is a bit frightening, as it attempts a themed Universal Studios megaplex look. The three gigantic statues holding up a torch are not very welcoming (maybe they act as a beacon because it sure is easy to spot them from far away, especially at night.), and the interior design is art deco on steroids. (Tip: If you can't figure out how to get to it from I-35, Little Texas Lane connects the southbound I-35 feeder with South Congress. If the lines are long, you can also pay for your tickets using a self-serve ATM-type machine.) read more

I haven't been to this theater since the recliners came to theaters. I accidentally purchased a movie in the Regal app, to this location & called immediately when I realized, to cancel/refund/transfer the tickets to the Westgate location, where I always take my family. I spoke to the manager, Angie, whom was so helpful & assisted me on how to get this resolved, but then she unexpectedly convinced me to keep the tickets to this location @ the metropolitan because she looked up the movie & time I purchased & told me this theater room was one of the newly renovated ones with recliners & new surrounding system that we will enjoy. I was hesitant since I was taking my kids as part of my daughters 15th birthday activities. I was very hesitant since I do not want to do movie theaters without the recliners...but I am so thankful for Angie, her amazing, tentative, kind & superb service on informing me of these renovations...the recliners were extremely comfortable with the head cushion, a tray you can pull I front of you, but the best was the SURROUND SYSTEM!! WOW, we all felt the vibrantion literary!! It was AWESOME to watch John Wick in action & really feel it! My kids & I loved it! You gott go here! Angie provided the best customer service which I haven't seen too many of since before COVID, & met Pat as we were leaving & she was so kind, professional & made us feel so cared for by her greeting as we were walking out of the theater!
