This is my worst experience for this theater! My friend and I were really looking forward to watching Crazy Rich Asian. We are deaf and we are using special glasses with closed caption. I have to go back to the front desk because the glasses aren't working. SIX TIMES to go back front desk... This is not equal for us as deaf people have to suffer to use this glasses. This is the reason we are trying to have an open caption movie. I don't understand this is difficult to turn it on for everyone to watch together. We have to leave the middle of the movie. We got the money back but this isnt gotta change or improve for us to through this one while hearing people can simply enjoy the movie. Would not recommend this place ever! read more

Tried to come in to a movie that had seating left when looking at reservations online. When walking in, they had a pizza delivery driver drop off pizza and then refused me and my partner in to watch the movie because we were 5 min late to it. They said they were closed when they clearly were not, they just wanted to munch on their pizza.. read more

We got there when they were changing the shifts and they were kinda rude to us, I mean, customer service is everything nowadays that we have so many options for almost anything. So the manager just said "we are just changing shifts, we are not selling tickets or anything at this moment, so if you need to purchase your ticket your need to go outside when we reopen", and outside was FREEZING COLD, anyhow, we did end up buying the tickets and the refreshments whenever they were ready and had to wait the longest time for the pizza. We did enjoy the movie since the theater was for ourselves, but I do ask for different wording and better attitude for the customers, because a business keeps the doors open due to customers. read more

I try to not give 1 star reviews, but I just had the worst experience at this theater. First, we go buy our tickets at the box office with our student IDs then go to Trudy's for dinner before our 9pm showing. The lady at the box office was extremely rude with the way she turned down our IDs for a Friday movie; very condescending. While watching the movie there were multiple people recording with their phones and texting. One guy even took a call. Secondly, there was so much talking, babies crying and young children screaming and running up and down the stairs with no parent supervision. I'm not one to tell people how to parent, but a 9pm movie is way too late for a baby and it's rude to people who are trying to watch the movie without kids trying to run down your aisle. On top of all of that the prices are far too high for uncomfortable seats, dirty theaters and bathrooms. Wine, beer and popcorn are all so overpriced. You can get better wine and beer elsewhere, cheaper. Don't charge me $11 for a glass of barefoot wine and think that's okay. Being in Austin, you can't beat Alamo, but this theater is the worst theater in Austin. I've given it multiple try's over the years and it keeps going downhill. Go to cinemark a little ways down 35 or amc. Both better choices if you don't want the Alamo atmosphere. read more

Just your average, old school movie theater. No reclining seats or anything special. It's first come first serve for seats. And the tickets are no cheaper than the other Regals in town with reclining seats and much better selection of food and drinks. It's really more of a 3.5 star but I added half a star because they were the only theater in town playing the movie I wanted to see more than once a day! That's about the only reason I would go to this theater....to see something I couldn't see elsewhere. read more

Just got back from the This American Life live simulcast screening at the Metropolitan 14. I haven't been to this cinema in a while, but I really like it. It's got ample parking, clean bathrooms, big screens, good sound and comfortable seats. The movie selection? Well, it's no Dobie, Alamo or Arbor, but this place is what it is. What I really like is the garish decor. The building is thoroughly modern, but the look they're going for is obviously inspired by the downtown movie houses of the 1920s. Regal Cinema is Regal Cinema. Except the ones I'm used to in Orlando attract a less scary clientele than this particular one (again the W Cannon/ IH35 vortex). What am I trying to say? I loved this place! We went to watch Toy Story 3 on 3D and the movie was seriously awesome! The 3D quality was really great! More than great, it was spectacular! I recently saw The last air bender 3D and it hardly looked 3D..it didn't help that the movie sucked. It was fun to be the only 4 people in a movie theater, which probably seats over 500. This is another one of those places I've been going to for years. In fact, my dad and I would go catch a movie every Saturday and kinda do some Father-Son bonding. The Staff: A bunch of high school kids or people with absolutely not job experience ( I know because I applied there a long time ago ). You have to deal with the occasional attitude or chatter amongst cashiers. The group cohesion actually becomes worst during the later showings. Food & Beverage: EXPENSIVE, as is standard these days. The hotdogs are weird in many ways, but never the less delicious. They have the typical popcorn that gets stuck in your teeth and drinks with the broken lid rim. Theaters: The bigger the movie, the bigger the theater. Some of the smaller theaters seat about 150 while the bigger one sit around 400. The Clientele: Just normal folks from different parts of South Austin and the little towns to the south. Lots of teenagers doing whatever they do these days. There's almost always a peace officer there to keep things under control. If you're not used to "ghetto" people it might seem scary, but I've never had any problems in my years of going there. This is your standard movie theater. High price for entry and expensive concessions. It has been a while since I went to the movies and I remember why now. This place loves Benjamin!! Upon arrival (5:50 p) for a 6:15 pm movie we were told they are in shift change and it no ticket sales until 6. We patiently waited the 10 minutes to get the tickets - which actually was a little later then what the manager said. Headed to the concessions stand and they were not ready either. So after getting our popcorn and snacks we walk in to the theater where the movie had already started. I think management needs to rethink this process. read more

If you want to be scared to leave your car in the parking lot for the duration of a movie, you could try this place. I'm an Alamo girl, I suppose, but the movie I was wanting to see was only playing at Violet Crown (never been, but have heard good stuff) and Violet Crown was sold out. So, we gave this a shot. I guess it's come to this, I've turned into a bourgeoise bi*ch. I'm not sure if it was the gaggles of children running amuck in the streets, the teenagers in gang-wear, or the Pop-a-lock work vehicle I parked next to, but we aborted mission at the last minute. I cannot comment on the inside of the theater, since I never saw it. Maybe, it is just weekends that seem this way? When I was younger, all theaters seemed this way, I suppose. The Alamo has spoiled me! Sadly, Regal theaters do not offer student discounted pricing. Tickets are $7.50. We were going to a movie at 5:30 pm and when we got there no one was in the ticket booth. Instead a sign was placed up to buy tickets inside. That's all fine with me until I reached inside the lobby area where only ONE person was working the counter/ticket sales/concession sales with already lines for tickets AND snacks. -_- We were already about to miss some previews. If it weren't such a bitch to access, this would be my favorite cinema in town. Well, okay, it is my favorite cinema in town. I'm in heart with all the dramatic, pseudo art deco, ceiling tiles, giant torch out front, and huge Oscar statues. It's hidden. If you're on I-35 or the access road, you probably won't see it behind all the trees unless you're really looking for it and know it's there. Aside from that, every time I've been here, it's never been packed, aside from Friday and Saturday nights. Even then, parking is a breeze, and there are no waits for tickets or grub. I was here to see the Alvin Ailey Ballet company's performance through the Lincoln Center Movies event. While the show was great, I was very disappointed with Metropolitan. The showtime was supposed to be at 7pm, but the film did not begin until about 7:15pm. At 7:05pm some random computer error message came on screen and stayed there. It sat there for almost five minutes before an employee came out and said they were "having problems with the download" and the film would start in a few minutes. Download? If I could just download off the internet and watch the film in my own home I would have done that and saved myself $16+/person... The film itself was outstanding, but when it was over, the house lights never came up! We had to feel our way out to the exit. Luckily I had my smartphone camera and young eyes on my side. My heart went out to the little old ladies that needed to get assistance from other moviegoers to navigate the aisles and stairs in the dark. Overall, the screening was poorly handled. Two stars because the film was great and the temperature in the theater was perfect (not as frigid as most). That said, I wont be rushing back to this venue. read more

This place is nice and biig and not too hard to sneak into movies etc, but then what movie theater isn't? this place typically plays all the movies that are out and have friendly staff. However tonight when I came into the theater I was addresses in such a rude manner by an employee named Angela. I dont know why she was so hostile. Upon coming to the theatre on a Friday night at 10:10 for a 10:20 showing (I like to come late so that I dont have to fight the crowds) we were pleased to see maybe 2 other couples in line at the concession, so I l knew it would be quick....and there we 5 people behind the counter working. Come to find out, only one person of the entire 5 folks was helping accumulating whole 3 parties in line. I cant believe how long I stood there to pay over $8 for popcorn and $5 for a soda, with only 2 groups in front of me. I looked around to speak with someone, a manager, a ticket taker, noone. Terrible service. I don't mind waiting because I myself have working in customer service, I felt bad for the poor girl behind the counter but geez there were so many people back there and noone thought to help their compadre out with the line. read more

Staff was really nice and courteous the theater smelled a bit and add 35-40 minutes to your show time because that's how many ads and previews you're going to see. And if your movie was like ours and ran two hours and 41 minutes it really was way over three hours in the theater which made us miss our dinner reservations read more

My favorite theater next to the Alamos, hands down. The service is always good, and the food isn't bad either. The soda pop sizes are worth the price, too.The bathrooms are very clean, and I love how much seating this place has. The stadium style seating is very nice, because if you're short, you can still see the movie. Very good for kiddos. I know the seating has mentioned too, but I do like the option to be able to snuggle with my boyfriend on a movie date without the arm rests being uncomfortable. They also have the option of 3D or non 3D movies available which is nice for those who don't feel like spending extra cash. I also like that the parking lot is usually very well-lit. . It is also very close to extra restaurants, which is awesome for dinner and a movie nights. read more

Ok , I used to like this theater. Its never crowded, which is nice. But tonight was a bad experience. Went to see "Baby Driver", a film acclaimed for it's use of music. Well, the audio in the auditorium wasn't adjusted right and all the sound - all of it - was coming from the front cluster of speakers, with absolutely no separation. I notieced this as soon as I sat down and watched a trailer, but hoped that the feature would sound better. I also noticed that the focus was very soft, with text appearing blurry. Again, hope it gets better. So the feature starts , and the sound nor projection improve. I try to tough it out for 1/2 and hour but finally get so disgusted and I KNOW that i'm not getting immersed in this film because of the poor audio, that I get up and go ask a manager to check it out please. I go back and sit down and within 30 seconds its as if someone flipped a switch, the audio magically fills the room with deep bass tones and audible separation of the tracks, the music sounds good, - it's a whole different experience! I decide to let the soft focus ride, I'm used to it by now. We watch the film and enjoy it, but as the credits come on - and they are blurry - I decide to ask the management if they are aware of the poor presentation they are putting on in there, improperly adjusted audio and out of focus projection. Really I just wanted them to tell me what they did to the audio and have them acknowledge they screwed up - and a simple sorry would have been enough. But ...I did not receive this acknowledgement....I was lied to. Manager Jami stopped to see me and explained that she was aware of my audio complaint, but that it was the mix of the audio track of the film ( not the theater ) - it had subdued audio portions that were supposed to represent music playing in the main characters headphones, and that must have been my issue - NO - I understand that , I am referring to the setting of the entire system in the room that was not set right for 1/2 an hour, resulting in music , speech, and sfx all sounding compressed and low and only coming from the front, which magically got better when I asked them to take a look. Anyway, she claimed they did nothing to change the sound. Then I asked if she was aware of how soft the focus was in there. To this, she claimed that focus on the projectors is 100% automatic, that it cannot be adjusted. This is simply wrong. I am in the projection and technical staging business and, have been for 30 years, and I can assure you that focus is adjustable. Adjustable by someone on staff at that theater that night, perhaps not, but it IS adjustable and for her to insist to me that it was right because it is automatic, is like denying the sky is blue. For her to tell me this amused me, because I couldn't believe that she was telling me that everything I just saw and heard was presented as it should have been. I told her I respectfully disagreed with her, and asked if there was anything she'd like to do to for us since we were still disappointed. - tickets to another movie perhaps, a concession voucher I suggested ? To this - NO - she said since nothing was wrong, we didn't deserve anything "free". Now , I ask, you, is there ever a more clear cut case of an easy fix of how to make the customer happy - THAT DOESN'T COST THE BUSINESS A THING - than a free movie ticket? How short sighted. Lastly, I stuck around to complain at the end instead of just leaving because so often, you will see management respond to an online review with " Why didn't you bring this to the attention of a manager when you were there, we would have made it right "....well, I did bring it up, only for Management to deny there was a problem, and not realize that a simple " sorry about that , we messed up, please enjoy these couple of tickets to your next movie on us" would have won a fan, not further irritated a paying customer. Its a no-frills theater, I get that. But have the sound on right and service your projectors occasionally for gods sake - and don't lie about it. PS: I don't see any Management reaching out to anyone anyway. Go figure. read more

Careless employees, dirty bathrooms, small theater seats (like flying in Economy on United). $15 dollar any size popcorn and drink. No wonder the parking lot was empty, shoulda took that as a sign. Read the whole experience below: This was a bad experience. I will give you a play-by-play. So we walk in and no one's there. This is the only plus of this entire story. We had the theater to ourselves. This was nice because we hadn't been on a date in a little while and just wanted to relax and be alone. We walk up to the counter a teenage girl takes our tickets and says if you wanna order something you can go over there and tell her. There's another girl standing at the next counter so we go over to the next counter and she says hi we have a special. As it turns out the special is a medium popcorn and a medium drink plus 1 candy and you get a dollar off the entire order. I said OK will take advantage of the special. I look at the screen and this comes out to $15. I looked at my wife and I asked which candy she wants, two which the teenage girl replies oh you want to add the candy? I said isn't that what the deal is for? So she starts punching buttons on the computer. Hold up - you mean to tell me that a drink in a popcorn cost $15? Don't get me wrong I know the theaters make their money on over charging for the snacks but I have never spent $15 on a popcorn and a drink. So I said you know what, we'll just have the small popcorn in the small drink instead of the medium popcorn and a medium drink.. $14. Wow this is just ridiculous and also incredible. The fact that both of those items cost them less than three pennies each... Maybe! I mean this is basically robbery. I have spent 9 bucks at Cinemark, 30 bucks for 2 FULL MEALS and drinks at AMC dine in, and 30-40 at luxury theaters for some of the best food you can get in a theater. So this was unbelievable to get the smallest least amount of food they offer at Regal and pay 15 bucks. So we go in with our small $14 popcorn and drink. And the seats are the old, smaller stadium seats. There's like 1000 seats lol and all of them are super close together with just an armrest between you and the next person. I was expecting to soon hear, "this is your captain speaking from the flight deck.." I figured with the expense of the food, we were in for one of the best theater experiences we've ever had lol. NOPE! I don't think I have sat in theater seats like this since like the 90's maybe early 2000's lol. Very uncomfortable. Very disappointing. Ok this part is going to be quick because this wasn't necessarily a highlight of the experience. But I work with sound systems and music so I feel like it's important to mention. We watched a movie that should have had some of the best sound ever. It was loud at times but it sounded muffled at times and also seemed like the sound system was either old or maybe just poor speaker installation and speakers were not placed well. Disappointing. So the movie's over, we are just glad to be together, but it was disappointing over all. We loved the movie, the way it was written and the actors, special effects and features of the movie - but that has nothing to do with Regal obviously. So I went to the bathroom and it seemed overall fairly clean, but then I looked down and someone had pee'd all over the floor and there were no paper towels. So I wiped my hands on my jeans - no big deal this whole experience is over anyway. I'm getting outta here. The funny thing to me is that we left talking about all our awesome experiences at AMC and EVO and Cinemark. Before we even got to our car we planned our next trip to AMC. Saw Inception here last night. We bought our tickets online and were able to pick them up immediately, though the automated ticket pickup machines weren't working, but no biggie. Snacks are expensive as expected, $10 for a small drink and small popcorn. The theater itself was clean and spacious, but the lights that they leave on during the previews to making seating easier never turned off, so it was pretty bright for a movie theater experience. Also, while I never had trouble hearing any of the audio in the movie, it definitely could've been louder to facilitate a more immersive experience. All in all, not bad, but I'll definitely try to order tickets earlier to get into the drafthouse next time. read more

We had a really bad experience came in for date night and the movie was 3-D and the 3-D lenses weren't even down so the good start of the movie we couldn't even watch properly until they fixed it then the people at the front who seemed really nice at the beginning said we would be OK ordering food because it was late and upon our Foods we couldnt bring it in and had to miss the movie and waste our money. I went here (this Regal location) with my family for the first time and should have heeded the reviews. This theater was outdated and the restroom was absolutely horrendous. It was like the further down the stalls you went the worse, it got. It happened to be the only theater in town that was still showing a movie my son was dying to see. The concession selections were lacking. They did however, offered limited options on beer and wine; which were still overpriced for a run down theater. I'm extremely disappointed and will not be coming back to this location. read more

I tried to watch a movie at this theater, but the smell of mold was so strong that it made my eyes water and my nose run, and gave me a headache. We had to leave during the previews and ask for our money back. This was a couple of months ago. I used to like this theater, but I no longer even look at the movie times for this location.
