Disappointing "IMAX" screen - the smallest in Texas at just 45x25.
    Matthew P.

Skip it for IMAX movies, the screen is half the size of others at just 45x25. It's the smallest "IMAX" screen in Texas. Found out too late that cinephiles call this "LieMAX". Stayed for the movie, but never again.

A little old and outdated but overall a good theater that played our movie. We didn't order any concessions so can't speak to that. It was a later movie so the employees weren't overly friendly and seemed to just be chilling with friends. Pretty empty and the big fluorescent overhead lights were left on in the theater so someone had to notify an employee to turn them off during previews.

A mini IMAX in a meat locker.

We just got home after watching "Weapons" at the IMAX here, and felt like we had to make a couple of comments. We love the location, close to home, and near some good places for dinner. Plenty of parking, although the mall was extremely busy tonight and it was a bit of a hike, but not a big deal. This was our first time in this theater, since we usually go to Westgate or just watch movies at home. I wouldn't really call this an IMAX, but more of a slightly larger than normal movie screen. Normal width, maybe a bit taller, but laughable to call it that. As soon as you walk in the doors it's apparent that they don't spend much time cleaning. The railing's sticky, the ceiling tiles look like they've got water damage and it just smells like an abused old room. Just a funky vibe. Seats are really uncomfortable, it was brutal sitting through a 2 hour movie. Our biggest complaint would be the sub zero degree air blowing straight down on the seats from above. We froze our asses off. My wife brought a sweater just in case, and she still couldn't keep warm. Lots of people came in with blankets, so they must have known what to expect. Will amend this review for more complaints if we get sick. So much potential at this location, we're hoping management decides to wake up.

I have to admit there's a lot of good things I could say about this theater location. For one thing it sits literally just across the hall from the cheesecake factory in Barton Creek mall. Inside the theater they do actually have a bar. We decided to come and see a Led Zeppelin movie, which we enjoyed. The movie time was at 4 PM. However, you have to put up with 20 minutes worth of film reviews before they get to your movie. The biggest downside of coming here are their very uncomfortable sagging seats. Sitting for two hours in that uncomfortable position guarantees I'll never set foot in here again. And if you're a heavyset person, you're really not gonna like it. To be honest, I didn't check out every single theater in the place and try out all the seats, but I can't see any reason why the seats in our theater were any different than the others. Despite some positive attributes here, it's just not worth the discomfort. Some informative photos included.

And these employees are borderline abusive. And pretty scary.

Don't waste your time here. It's filthy, they have a bar but no one works there/. They will ask you to wait for their employees "breaks" to end before they serve you . This is a dying theatre trying to g to keep up with the new theatre experience. Don't waste your time.

From the beginning walking in, not busy at all but maybe we were early, through our 3 hour convesation and meal that place was super packed. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming from the furniture to the staff. The server was a young thang but very knowledgable of their menu minus some of the cocktails. From the appetizers to the 3 courses ordered, desert and cocktails it was magnificent. Definitely would like ot try more menu options next time in Austin.

New Orleans BBQ Shrimp - tasty and a pretty big portion with freshly grilled bread 2. Steamed Mussels - another bigger portion app that had a really nice white wine butter sauce 3. Grilled Oysters - these were excellent and I could've ordered many more portions 4. Clam Chowda - bowl was a big portion and super filling so could've probably just done the cup. 5. Shrimp & Grits - this was just ok in my opinion. We've had way better 6. Lastly ended with the creme brulee which was good but the topping of white powdered chocolate (?) and sorbet was such a weird pairing and did not go well. Overall this would be 3.5 stars. Nothing here that I'd crave and want to come back for but not a bad meal either. Convenient location next to so many offices and Westlake, and plenty of parking.

As we got to the bar, we met the disaster of the bartender woman with glasses. She looked at all of us weirdly and was overall very aloof. We asked for the drink menu and she just pointed at what was on the counter. Okay, I thought. Just a bit quiet. I asked a few questions about the drinks and she rudely responded with one word answers. I ordered the martini and she gave me a weird look and then made it, very antagonistically. I didn't tip her. There was no service involved (she just mixed the drink and handed it to me) and we were to sit at the booth. She then interrogated my two friends about it, angrily asking why I wouldn't tip and saying odd personal information of how she makes $10 an hour only. I understand that, and I always tip at restaurants when the waiter or waitress serves me at the table, but when I'm just picking up an item, I don't tip out of principle (why should I)? It made the entire evening really weird and uncomfortable. I wouldn't recommend this place. Drinks are overpriced ($10.75 for the old-fashioned = whisky + ice?!) The music is great but there are plenty of other places with fantastic live music in Austin, don't bother with this. And the service is by far the worst I've ever encountered at a bar. Trust me, stay away.

It's a surprising but unassuming melting pot of Austinites of every stripe that's open 7 days a week, rain or shine, and most (if not all) holidays. No frills. No nonsense. They take happy hour very seriously with their Mon-Thurs 12-1 (??) and 7-8 options. The beer is cold and comes in mugs, mini-pitchers, and pitcher-pitchers -- and all for the cheapest price in Austin. They also have liquor and mixers ...and technically wine (if you dare) but I don't know that anyone's ordered wine here in the last 50 years. I've gotta sidestep and mention that it reminds me of a favorite dive bar in Pittsburgh where I'm originally from. We like to visit after a day at Deep Eddy Pool and lunch at Pool Burger. We end our day here with Shiner drafts served in perfectly frosted beer mugs. This old-school joint attracts patrons of all ages (21+) and backgrounds. Neighborhood regulars, folks from across town (like us), and tourists. It's that place where you pick up conversation with total strangers and feel like you've made lifelong friends even if you never see them again. The bartenders are great. They actually take the time to chat, ask about your day, what you've done up to that point in the day, etc. The bar is embodied in the kitschy decor you'd expect to find at this type of watering hole. Lots of cool things for the human eye to take in. The prices are insanely affordable. $4 for a Shiner draft! Though I've never actually made it, happy hour is Mon-Thurs 12-1 pm and 7-8 pm. Final note, the bathrooms are super clean!
