Sun 22 Oct. Free showing of Pixar's "Encanto" coinciding with San Pedro Dia De Los Muertos Festival. Beautiful theater and wonderful staff. Note that not a lot of legroom with the seats.

Grand theater with ornate interior has largely been restored to its old glory, but I said "largely". The seating is showing its age, perhaps having undergone multiple replacement already. The interior has been restored, but there are still spots showing the inevitable wear and tear with age. The biggest downside is that there is no parking immediately surrounding the theater. It's very apparent that the theater was constructed before there were cars. Otherwise, it certainly provides an impressive venue for local theater troupes.

The Theater: It is a historic theater. Mid-size theater, every seat has good view. Sound system is good. Love the theater interior deco, has it's own character. This theater has been around since in the 1930's, nicely well maintained. The restrooms are in the basement. In the lobby, they sell beverage & snacks, also merchandise related to the show. The Show: Annie by Encore Production. What an excellent show!! Huge casts~ and all the kids put in their great efforts. The bonus of the show - we get to meet the casts outside the theater!!! The Parking: Street metered parking (2 hours), free two-hour street parking & parking lot (50 cents for every 30 minutes)

Well I just watched a production of the play The Sound of Music put on by Encore. I was blown away by the talent of this theater group. I have seen multiple shows on Broadway and I will tell you that this is very close to that level of talent. Also the theater is very beautiful and old and vintage yes she could use a slight renovation but I'm not gonna duck any stars for that because this theater needs more support and doners to do that ! Come explore !!

I've been here a couple times; once for a dance show and most recently for a wedding. That's right! You can actually rent this cool 1930's art deco theater for your wedding! The wedding party was up on stage while we all sat in the theater seating. The reception was held upstairs in the foyer outside the balcony. Very unique idea for a wedding. If you like the architecture of historic buildings, art deco, or theaters from a bygone era, you'll enjoy this venue. It's not as spectacular as the movie palaces (many restored in recent years) on Broadway in downtown L.A. but it's not far behind. It just needs a bit of refurbishing to polish its rough edges. Of course that requires a fair amount of money and I'm sure they are slowly raising the funds to do it. The seating is comfortable but the rows are spaced closely together so it is truly impossible for someone to get by you; you must stand up to let someone pass your seat to get to theirs (and even then you will experience body contact which, depending on who it is, you may find welcome or unwelcome). Staff is very friendly. The bride of the aforementioned wedding told me they bent over backwards to accommodate her requests to make her wedding day special. Plenty of parking in nearby parking lots that charge a mere quarter for 30 minutes.

I've always had a soft spot in my heart for the Warner Grand. Art deco personified, with an architectural benevolence that never ceases to give me a warm fuzzy feeling. From the front row to the last row in the balcony, the Warner Grand is a throwback to the magnificance of old Hollywood and the support given to movie houses such as this by the big motion picture studios. Through all my years of visiting here, seeing "Night of the Living Dead" during it's initial release, (which made my oldest brother "lose his lunch"), the Hindenburg, Blazing Saddles, numerous "concerts" and so on, I've seen the good, the bad, the ugly and now that it has been restored, it has come full circle back to the good. I mean really good. Just a beautifully classic venue. This weekend I saw the San Pedro Ballet Theatre's presentation of the Nutcracker for the 2nd year in a row. (My oldest grandaughter was in it). It really makes one appreciate the good things in life and value the historical treasures we have.

I've never even heard of the Warner Grand until I bought tickets to movie screening at this charming theatre. My eyes were overwhelmed trying to take in the remarkable art deco. The seats are decent, but are not staggered between rows, so you're not looking between the heads of the people in front of you. Try to find street parking as it's free after 6pm, or there is lot on the corner of Mesa and 6th.

Came here to see Mary Poppins the Musical on a Sunday at 2pm (playing thru January 9-17, 2016), and it was delightful! :) Before the show started - they also sell refreshments that you can drink and eat in there. They also sell Mary Poppins memorabilia before, during intermission and after the show. I ended up getting a commemorative Mary Poppins pin with my VIP ticket purchase, woohoo!!! The play was about 2.5 hours, and the cast was awesome. They had a lot of kid actors in there, especially, the scene where Bert danced with the penguins, it was so cute!!! (The had the kids dressed in penguin suits from teens to tykes, awww!!!) Also, the song and dance numbers were on point, and so energetic, especially the two favorite numbers "Spoonful of Sugar," and "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious," (try saying that word fast, much less, trying to spell it, lol!). Both Elizabeth Matson (Mary Poppins), and Erik Schiller (Bert) did an amazing job with their parts - Julie Andrews and Dick Van Duke would have been proud (original actors of Disney Classic). As for the theater itself - it's gorgeous, but it also exudes a dark and mysterious feel to it. The seats are small, butt hurted a lil, and you'll definitely be rubbing elbows with your seatmates. Though, I sat in the very front, and ended up playing footsies with the Mom to the right, cuz both are legs are long, and kept bumping into each other when we change directions of crossing our legs. Luckily, the dad to the left I didn't have to worry about, and he was a nice guy - offered me some red vine licorice (but I politely declined). RESTROOMS: Located downstairs. Once intermission starts, definitely make a beeline to the restroom, otherwise, you're gonna be waiting in a huge line for the Women's Restroom. PARKING: Sunday Shows: street meters are free parking. Any other days - street meters are two hours, and there's also paid public parking too. Overall, it was a very cool theater to check out. There are a lot of eateries and cool lil knick knack shops to check out. I would definitely come here for another showing, yay!

This lavish art-deco theater was opened in 1931. Jack Warner called it "The Castle of Your Dreams." http://www.warnergrand.org/ The Grand Vision Foundation has almost completed a program of seat restoration started in 2004. "Adopt a seat" has been a remarkable community success. http://www.grandvision.org/ I have been lucky enough to actually see a movie in this restored beauty. This was a special night and a very special treat. This theater is fantastic. It's like stepping back to a time when movie presentations were lavish. The Warner Grand Theater is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is also a City of Los Angeles Cultural Historic Landmark. Volunteers lovingly have guided a long restoration. (Call 310.833-4813 or email leslie@grandvision.org).

This was a 1st for The Last Remaining Seats yearly event but a welcome one. We very rarely go to San Pedro and now we have a good reason to visit. The parking immediately surrounding the area is a 2 hour limit whether it's street parking or an open lot parking. We ended up parking on Grand between 5th & 6th St. which had no time limit signs. It was an easy walk to the theatre. The Warner Grand Theatre is a beautiful theatre that was originally built in 1931. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999. It continues to be restored to its original Art Deco glory. The intricate details from the wood carvings with copper and gold to the lighting fixtures are amazing. The movie was 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea, a Disney film made in 1954. It was one of my husband's favorites as a child but I had never seen it. It was definitely entertaining.

Beautiful 1920s art deco building. I wish San Pedro held more events here. I have only been for one movie showing like ten years ago and few little kid recitals. I love art deco and this building exudes old Hollywood glamour. Parking is a pain in this area, but it is a great venue. Please hold more events in this San Pedro landmark!!!

This is the theater to see in Los Angeles. Talk about beautiful. They are restoring it to its original decor. My neighbor Dan Wozniak is having a screening of his new film this Feb 22, Friday evening. So go check out a beautiful theater, support a good cause and see his new film. Dan has made some interesting surf films in the past. Check out www.crenshawboulevard.com for more about the film or go to the Warner Grand site. Hope to see some fellow Yelpers there. http://www.warnergrand.org/ Crenshaw Boulevard (2008) Friday, Feb. 22, 8 p.m. (doors open at 7 p.m.) - $15 A benefit screening for LAS CANDALISTAS. A small film crew spent ten weeks roaming 24-mile long Crenshaw Boulevard chasing stories of the human experience. When finished, they had Crenshaw Boulevard, a documentary film revealing eleven broadly ranged, uplifting stories: from the pursuit of filling basic needs, to seeking to see the far ends of our universe, to building a wildly successful helicopter business, to being a part of the West Coast's premiere African-American cultural center. These stories and so many more reside along Crenshaw Boulevard.....where cultures, dreams, and opportunities abound! My home town movie theater. Grew up in San Pedro and this was basically the only movie house in town, so being the little movie geek I was, I spent A LOT of time here. Here or the Old Towne Mall in Torrance (Which doesn't exist anymore). I'm glad to see this place still alive and kicking. Would love to catch a flick here again, now that I'm an old man.

    Great show, great venue.

Went to see the Odyssey last night was expecting just to enjoy something in their reclining seats and what we got was an unexpected explosion in our ears. That sound is turned up so ridiculously loud it damages the ears. Our ears are still ringing, even though I stuffed paper in them and as well as putting fingers on top of that, it was so loud that it felt like explosions in my head going right through my skull into my ears. I couldn't stop it. We did leave early, but not early enough. I can't begin to tell you the contempt I have for these stupid stupid managers who somehow think this is OK. I went out into the lobby and mentioned it to the girl who gave us our tickets since there was no one else there and she said there's nothing they can do about it. There's absolutely nothing they can do to turn that down she said. really? This is the kind of place that should go out of business although I'll say that similar things have happened at the AMC theaters in Torrance. I don't get it...but there's just no excuse for it.

Friday the 13th found us sitting on graves while watching Rocky Horror on a large inflated screen while the Long Beach Art Theatre cast performed along with movie. Yes, there was literally dancing on graves going on here. The gravestones were interesting to read while we waited for the performance to start. Most of them were from a hundred years ago! The doors opened at 6:30 and the performance and movie started at 9, giving the audience time to enjoy a picnic or visit the food trucks parked in the graveyard. (Now that's a phrase I never thought I would write.) Four food trucks were there next to the port-a-potties. I didn't see anything saying that you could or couldn't bring alcohol, but a lot of people had alcohol out in the open, so I guess it's okay. Our neighbors even popped a bottle of champagne. Some tips for movie night: Come early if you want good parking. Late comers have to park across the street. Drive a small car if you can. The graveyard driveway is pretty narrow. It got pretty chilly in the later hours, so I suggest bringing jackets/blankets. Bring a low back chair,as taller chairs need to go to the back or side.
