I went to Regal Short Pump on Wednesday and was not happy with their new policy of assigned seating. What a dumb idea. I went there with my son and was surprised that they had recently implemented this new policy. It took us a few moments to select a row and seat as we stood at the window with other people behind us. The whole process felt rushed even though we went back and forth with each other trying to figure out the best place to sit. And just imagine what the line is going to be like during peak hours and every family is asked to take a look at a seating chart and figure out where they all want to sit. This policy is too restrictive, time-consuming and not customer friendly. What if you want to move because the person behind and to the left of you likes to put their feet up on the seat or you prefer not to sit directly behind or in front of someone? There are plenty of other theaters without this policy. We will go to those theaters. Change your policy Short Pump 14 or you will lose customers. read more

I visited this theater to see Black Panther in IMAX 2D with my boyfriend on a Friday night date. We had purchased our tickets online through Fandango. I was glad I had because dinner had run late and the ticket line was long. We walked right in and got in line for concession. What I thought was going to take forever was actually pretty speedy. The popcorn was so nice and fresh. It was still warm and the super buttery. The IMAX theater was amazing. The floors weren't sticky and the chairs were comfortable. There was plenty of room. The screen and audio/visual quality were stunning. It was definitely worth the money. I greatly enjoyed my experience here and will return to see the second movie in the Pacific Rim saga. read more

What makes this theater good? The seats. The nice lean-back types, which they've got. The few downsides? No student discount. Tricky parking *only at peak hours*, even though it's a fairly huge shopping area. Lastly, it wasn't quite as clean as hoped. A few plus sides? It's got a quite a few restaurants in the area, the Short Pump Mall and TJ's nearby, and a Sweet Frog next door for a post/pre-movie frozen yogurt treat. I try to stay far away from this theater since it tends to be filled with loud, obnoxious kids, but I found myself there for a matinee today -- the best time to go if you want to avoid that crowd and have any chance at all getting a parking spot. This is one of the nicer movie theatres in Richmond, in my opinion, but there is a little quirk that I wanted to pass on to my fellow Yelpers... If you are lame like I am, you might want to go to a movie on an early Sunday afternoon... if you go here, you'll notice a ton of patrons, coming out of the right side of the theatre around 11:30am. You may wonder why, since there are no movies playing that early... It's because there is a church that meets here every Sunday morning. I've never heard of such a thing, but I assure you it's true... a church meets in the movie theatre every Sunday morning. Other than that, I'd say this is a pretty normal movie theatre. Oh and one more tip- don't get the soft pretzels here if you do go. They are awful. $4.50 apiece, and they are refrigerated salt-less pretzels that they microwave and hand to you in a plastic bag. What happened to huge salted soft pretzels in glass boxes turning slowly, enticing you to slather one in mustard? *SIGH* You're better off with the popcorn. read more

Regal Cinema 14 at Short Pump now has IMAX... I have ONLY been to the IMAX at the Science Museum in Downtown Richmond. I have been seeing some Theaters now having their own IMAX, and recently, the Regal 14 Theater did a transformation on one of it's Theaters into a IMAX. Their opening day was on a recent showing of a Star Trek Movie in 3D. So, yesterday I decided to check out the NEW IMAX and see what it was all about.... I am glad I went, as when I walked into the Theater itself, the first thing I noticed the huge screen. Also, the seating was different along with more speakers on the sides of the wall... So, I was anxious for the show to start... Before opening, they give you a treat Visually in how it will look and when the sound came on... I felt like I was engulfed. I mean, it was TERRIFIC! It is a Digital sound, and it felt like you were in the middle of the action and feeling a part of it... When the Base kicked in, I could feel it in my body and even the seat I was sitting in was vibrating.... NOW that is REALISTIC Sound! WOW!!! When the show started, it took me about 10 min to get use to the 3D part, however I sat about half way back and with the huge screen.... I felt like I was on the set and behind the camera once again.... Between the Sound which made you feel like you were part of the movie itself, and visually I was engulfed into what was happening. I walked out thinking I had had one of the BEST Movie Experiences in a very VERY long time.... I am NOW a BIG fan of IMAX.... I am giving Regal 5 PLUS on adding this to their Theater..... The ONLY draw back, is... is the cost. For a Senior, it cost me $13.75 for a matinee showing... I am sure part of it was the 3D and some for the IMAX... So for me, I will pick and choose on what I see in regards to IMAX. I used my Regal Card which gives me points as I received FREE Popcorn yesterday and the last time I went, I received a FREE Movie Ticket. Sign up for the Regal Card as it is the way to go.... Went here to see Jurassic World Friday night, a couple of days ago, which was the movie's opening day. We bought tickets in advance for the 10:40pm IMAX 3D showing, so we were able to avoid the ticketing lines. Got inside, scanned our mobile ticket, and joined the line of people for the our theater to open. Glad we got there early because the theater filled up very quickly and people were searching for open seats. The IMAX 3D experience was pretty cool. I get a slight headache with wearing those shades but it wasn't too bad. Definitely good to see a movie like Jurassic World in IMAX 3D. Usually, I don't go to this particular theater because of the congestion in Short Pump, but the experience was good. read more

I am in town visiting from El Paso, TX. I got tickets for Star Wars for my boyfriend to enjoy and obviously wasn't sure what theatre was best since I'm not from the area but I took a chance on this one. let me just say this theatre was BELOW expectations especially for the price!!!! $40.00 for both of us. Seats are close together, don't recline, the popcorn was stale and didn't have flavor, had to wait 30 minutes in line for concessions, screen was small for "IMAX". Just wasn't happy with my experience at all. Wouldn't come back here if they gave me free tickets. read more

Came here during the weekday to watch the movie, Split. Please keep in mind, this is for a movie that started around 7:30. The location is a pretty good spot (right before the crazy Short Pump Mall). Plenty of parking spots but it does get full during the prime time. Lot of restaurant options around so you'll have options, and the staff were friendly. Pretty busy on a Saturday night (expected). Parking is a sham, may take you a good bit of time to find a space. Lots of food options near by and being close to the mall makes this location a very prime. Seats were comfy, popcorn was alright. Short Pump movie theater is probably the to go place to catch a movie for the residents of Short Pump. I've gone multiple times to watch various movies and always have had pleasant experiences. The people working there are very nice and it's like your usual movie theater complete with a snack bar. Normally the lines are short and getting tickets are quick, but the most recent time I went... ..there was quite a crowd. I did make it to the movie on time, but that day I learned it's probably a good idea to get to the movie theater earlier just in case! read more

I think every time I've come here has been for a free movie preview. And I won't complain about that! Parking is never a problem and the theatre never appears to be overcrowded, although I haven't been here on weekend nights or at the release of a new movie. Seats feel fine, restrooms were clean, and the screen didn't have any problems. Seems to me that everything it has to offer is great, and, more importantly, in working order. This theatre used to be a favorite with me and my husband until the theatre implemented assigned seating. We have experienced nothing but trouble with the last three times we visited. Twice people have been in our seats and we have had to sit elsewhere. We also witnessed a lengthy discussion among two groups regarding the wrong people in the wrong seats. Unless ushers are used, this practice of assigning seats needs to go away. The old system worked just fine. read more

I came to the Regal in Short Pump with some co workers from work. I must say this location is bigger than the location Im used to attending in Buffalo, NY. The customer service here was good, from the ticket counter to the concession stand. Only thing that is a turn off for me, is the prices at the concession stand. Its ridiculous to pay almost $5.00 for just a regular size drink or for some popcorn. My advice its better to just eat before you come to view your movie or eat afterward. In the theater room, I was in did not have the sticky floor as I have experienced with movie theaters. Also, the chairs were comfortable with alot of leg room. One of my coworkers is 6"4 and he was able to sit comfortable in the chairs and have room to strecth his legs. Overall, its was a good experience. Only complaint is the prices at the concession stand but that is an easy fix of eating before you view your movie or afterward. 4 stars. read more

I only came to this theater for an advanced screening of a movie I was super excited to see. I don't live near the area. My experience was decent- I didn't have any issues, although there was a slight delay with the start of the film due to technical difficulties (it happens). This Regal theater is in a prime location- there are several great restaurants and other businesses surrounding it, so you have plenty of options for grub before or after you see a movie. Overall, not spectacular, but not awful. Just your run of the mill theater. read more

Regal without warning has gone to assign seating. There's absolutely no benefit to assign seating because there's no difference in price. We sat down as a family and then were asked to get up because someone had those seats. The kicker is we didn't know and when we went to our assigned seats others were sitting in them. Management told us the row was full and we could find other seats. What? We tried and were asked to move again. If my wife wasn't with my son and me I'd made huge scene on getting my assigned seats. Instead, I got my money back for the tickets and the popcorn and drinks and left. It's the dumbest idea. Needless to say, I won't be seeing movies at Regal Short Pump ever again! read more

I love this theater mainly because it's close by home so that's a plus for late night night movies. But I will tell you since there are other businesses around the parking can suck at times. I've never had any issues here at this theater with drama, kids or anything in that nature. Bathrooms are average not really up to date. Worst management service ever! Machine stole my money and the manager MARK BUNDY. Looks at me and tells the employee we are all busy so she is going to have to wait ( with an attitude)! I will never come back to this rude behavior. A simple, ma'am I know your movie is starting but we will be with you in one moment or we will get your money back would have been nice. For being the main cinema in a highly populated and wealthy area, this cinema is understaffed at both the box office and the concession stand. At 7:00 pm on a Wednesday, they only had one ticket window open and, at most, two concession windows open. The lines were very long and no attempt was made to open additional windows to accommodate the crowd. In the future, I will be making the drive to Commonwealth 20 in Midlothian. read more

I don't think enough people actually come tell the good, only bad. I had an issue with a concession line when I got to the register. I made a complaint. It was barely out of mouth before Laura, I think a shift/team lead/mgr, took care of it. She was professional, kind, and understood my frustration. I was impressed. Alyssa was the girl at the counter, and didn't skip a beat. Teamwork was great. Mark was the manager on duty, and obviously knows how to run a tight ship, as it was Star Wars early release, and the theater was crazy!
