DO NOT RENT FROM THESE PEOPLE!!! I repeat - DO NOT! Here's a cautionary tale... I wanted to rent the Chevy Bel Air for my wedding, which just passed on September 19. It's my husband's favorite classic car and it was going to be a surprise for him. I rented the car and PAID IN FULL way back in March of this year. I was working with the guy named Israel who seemed to have handled everything...my card was charged and I figured the rental was secured. I called Regency a week and a half before my wedding just to confirm and make sure everything was set. They informed me that Israel does not work with them anymore so they put me in contact with someone named Owen. Owen had no idea of my reservation and re-sent me the credit card and itinerary forms. Not only did I have to explain I had rented the car 6 months prior, but I had to rummage through my bank statements to prove I had already paid in full. Why was there no documentation of my reservation? Who knows. Strike one. But wait, the story gets better. Owen assures me everything is set for my wedding - paid in full, reservation good to go. ON THE MORNING OF MY WEDDING I get a phone call saying that the car BROKE DOWN the day before and they were unable to fix it. Okay, why didn't they call me the day before to tell me? I still would have been upset, of course, but at least they would have given me some kind of warning before the day of my wedding. Strike two. The associate that spoke with me the day of my wedding said they had been having this problem a lot lately and had been meaning to take the car off of the rental site. Okay, WHY didn't you guys tell me this weeks ago when I had called to confirm?! Why give a bride one more thing to worry about on her wedding day? You guys could have told me the car has been in bad shape lately and might be out of service, but...you didn't. Strike three. I was offered a Range Rover in place of the Bel Air to make up for it. The only silver lining is that I got my money back for the rental after asking for it and an apology from the last associate I spoke with. This company has zero customer service skills. I called from a production company interested in renting a classic car for a film shoot. The first time I reached out I spoke with a young woman who seemed to be a receptionist of some sort. I asked to speak with a member of a PR or Marketing team that would deal with filming...a fairly common request in the Los Angeles area...and was met with very abrupt and cold responses from that point on. She refused to tell me even what department would handle the request or provide me with any other phone numbers, emails, anything that might lead to someone who could help. She would repeatedly say "They're not here." even while I was mid-sentence. Finally, baffled I gave her my contact details and asked her to pass along to this mystery person when they came in. Unsurprisingly no one ever did. I felt like a telemarketer...not a person calling to make a business deal. I called the following day and asked again to speak with someone who may help me with this. This time I spoke with a gentleman who said he was the manager and could help with whatever I needed. Before I could even get out a full sentence regarding our project or the filming he insisted he wanted nothing to do with it. I had not even told a fraction of what I was calling about. He insisted I wanted a rental car for free and that he would not consider the proposal. Again, I had not shared any details of the proposal or even what I was interested in. He heard the word "trade-out" and freaked. Maybe if you're looking for a run of the mill rental agreement this company could be of use but filmmakers or potential partnership seekers beware. Wanted to rent the Bel Air for our wedding day. Was working with DeeDee, the "VP of Luxury Lifestyle Division" who all of a sudden was no longer working with the company... So Israel takes over the transaction... Okay. Three days before the wedding Israel says the Bel Air broke down and is unavailable. Okay, no big, we'll take a different car. We get the Buick white convertible. On the night of our wedding, we go to turn the car on to drive to the hotel after the reception and the key BREAKS. We cannot start the car. So we scramble to figure it out. We get a key smith from AAA to come out the next day (wait for 2 hours) and he makes us another key for $200+. The key smith also said that the key breaking is negligence on Regency's behalf considering how worn down the key was. After all this hassle, we explained the situation to Regency after we returned from our honeymoon and instead of being understanding and customer service oriented, James (I believe) had the nerve to raise his voice over the phone, call my husband a liar, accuse him of paying the AAA key smith to write up the diagnosis, and even say that he, James, is "not yelling but handling the situation like a man" while continually referring to my husband as "bro". Excuse me??? James is a staff member that would be an embarrassment for any company. The only reason I am giving two stars instead of one is because the owner did refund us the cost of replacing the key and offered us a discount for a future rental but we're clearly not going to be renting from Regency again. read more

Rented a 64 Olds and 65 Mustang. Both cars were clean and ready to go. They both had power convertible tops too, which makes things MUCH easier to put the top down. Was picked up at airport in a timely fashion. Lots of fun for the weekend. If you decide to rent old classic cars, remember these cars weren't built like cars today. The steering and suspension aren't as good, but man, they sound good and are powerful. Also, not everything will work perfectly, lighter sockets out, windows hard to roll down, little stuff. But like I said the process was easy, Israel was very fair with us regarding a scratch and they have lots of cool cars! Also, ask lots of questions when first getting the car, b/c some things weren't intuitive. For example, in the Mustang, there were 2 slots in the automatic for D (drive), and I wasn't sure which was the correct one. read more

I needed a Range Rover for a week for personal use. I was highly satisfied with the car. It was 2015 supercharged. I was given a great deal for the whole week, the price was fair. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! This guy is a TOTAL SCAM. He has changed the name of the business many many times and he continues to screw people over again and again. I rented a Mercedes for my stay here in LA 2 MONTHS prior to my trip. When I showed up to pick the car up at 11am, I was informed that the car is no longer available and that they didn't have another convertible to offer me. I told them no thanks and to refund my deposit so I can go to Black and White Car Rental and get a car from them. They told me the deposit is non-refundable and they can get me a different car the next day. Guess what? 20 minutes later after arguing to get my deposit back, the Mercedes pulls in and is being used by the owner of the establishment. They gave me the car and it was filthy, reeked of cigarettes and marijuana, and had bloody napkins all over the floor. I brought the car back within 30 minutes and I will be disputing the charge on my credit card. Good luck to this place! STAY AWAY EVERYBODY!!! read more

Since I live on the westside in Venice I did a search and found Regency Car Rentals. Holy crap I love this place. I was helped by a guy named Matt, who talked me into the white 2014 Bentley. The car had white leather interior with not a smudge on it. Not to mention it was a hard top convertible. Yes ladies, I put a scarf in my hair and drove up PCH. Ive been wanting to leave a review for this company since my wedding. I Want to warn everyone that this company has zero customer service and unreliable service. I hire them for my wedding, and showed up an hour late. The driver did not even apologize our greeted us after being an hour late. So my coordinator tried to get us a refund for their sorry service, abd they agreed to give us 50 percent of what we paid. When we check are bank statement only 30 percent was there. Sylvia just was horrible to deal with abd ended up charging us taxes and fees which Israel and I had.agreed over the phone that they would be waived off. First and Last time I will be using Regency Car Rentals! I rented a 57 Chevy Bel Air from this place and it almost ruined my brother's wedding. Paint job was terrible, the door panels were falling off and being held by tape, and the generator was bad so the car's battery would die every time the car was turned off. Of course none of this was disclosed to me prior to the rental. The "icing on the cake" was the rude and terrible customer service that I received when trying to return the car. What a nightmare! Never again. Long story short, I will NEVER rent another car here again, nor would I ever recommend this place to anyone! Do yourselves a favor people and look elsewhere for a car rental. For a more detailed description of this nightmare, read below: First, the car looked nothing like what was posted in the pictures. The paint job was in terrible shape. The car looked more like a daily driver than a nice weekend cruiser that the company made it appear to be. The paint had lots of cracks, oil spots, fading, and chips. The car looked like it was borrowed from a friend that was restoring it and not a rental from a respectable company. Inside, the car's door panels are falling off and are being held together with nothing but tape. TAPE! on a 57 Bel Air coupe! Terrible. Whats worse, the car had a bad generator that did not charge the battery so it would not start after every stop we made and had to get it jump started. The first time it died, the car wouldn't start even with a jump. We had to get a mechanic to come help us out with it. To make matters worse, I had the car rented for the whole day, meaning 24 hours. However, the manager, Israel Castro, had decided to book the car back to back, and was already calling me around 7pm to see at what time I was going to return the car. I told him that the car was giving me problems and that I was scheduled to return the car the following day between 8 and noon. He apologized for the inconvenience and told me that he would speak to his superiors about "fixing the problem." He also asked me to try and take the car in by 8am the next morning. I told him that I would do my best but couldn't promise anything since the car was having problems with the battery. The next morning at around 8:10am he calls me very upset, even yelling at me for not having the car there yet. He went on about there being another customer waiting for the car and that they would be paying $500 dollars an hour for a photo shoot and that they need the car asap. I had to remind him about the car giving me problems and that the car was rented for 24 hours, meaning I had until 10am to turn in the car. To avoid any more delays he asks me for my address and tells me that he would send someone to come pick up the car. Later when the fleet manager arrives, he again jump starts the car and then tries to take the car without signing off on it. He gives me this BS about not being authorized to sign off on any car. So he is authorized to pick up the car, but not to sign off for it?! What kind of sketchy car rental business is this? He was even giving me attitude about it and stated that he was already in the car so he technically had possession of the car already. Eventually, he gives in to signing off on the car, and I show him that on the contract it clearly states that I have until 10am to return the car. He then changed his whole demeanor and tried acting all nice with me stated that his manager, Israel, sometimes double books and then doesn't know how to deal with the situation and sends him to do the dirty work instead. Regency, you need to get some new employees. I didn't even get a sincere apology for all the trouble I went through. It wouldn't kill you to spend some money fixing up your cars to actually look like the pictures you have on your website as well. read more

This is maybe the worst car rental agency in Southern California. They rented me a car that exploded in flames on the freeway nearly killing me. They offered a full refund and apologized profusely and promised the refund would arrive within 2 to 3 days. Three weeks later I have still not received it and they will not return my calls or emails so I now have to take them to small claims court. read more

This was AWESOME!!!!!!!! For my husband's 50th birthday, I wanted to do something special and sent an email to Regency through their web site. Israel (Regency's manager) responded within about a minute with suggestions on a car to rent. Originally I was going to get a Lamborghini for 24 hours; about a week before hand Israel let me know there was an issue and wanted to have a Plan B. Plan B turned out to be a fabulous white Ferrari, which Regency delivered to my door exactly at the agreed upon time. My husband drove and drove and drove.....and then drove some more! Cost was about $1,200. For a super indulgent gift (to yourself or someone else), I highly recommend Regency, their service, and their cars. read more

Black smoke exploded from the hood and I nearly lost consciousness on the freeway. I was promised a full refund and then three weeks later - without telling me - decided they changed their mind. I ordered a Rolls Royce Phantom to pick us up at the Van Nuys private jet center. The car was clean and the driver was nice, but he was a little late b/c he got lost - not a big deal. The customer service on the phone was good and friendly. I paid $900 (including tip/taxes) and I thought it was kinda pricey for a one hour trip when they quoted me $250 an hour with a minimum of four hours. We rented a '57 Chevy for our 25th wedding anniversary. My husband had seen the car on the lot many times and knew it would make for a memorable midweek break celebration. We made the reservation a few weeks in advance and the car was ready to go when we arrived. Driving a 57 year old car takes a little time to adjust to but by the time we hit Santa Monica and PCH it was smooth driving. A brief stop was necessary at In N Out to go through the drive thru with our sons & their girlfriends. You can get 6 in the car! Once we jettisoned the kids we continued up PCH to Santa Barbara. Great cruising in the old lady. Returned the car after a memorable 2 days with no issue. Yes it's a little expensive but absolutely worth it for a great memory. Updating my review. Sounds like what happened to me wasn't entirely their fault as they are a Hertz affiliated location, and not Hertz itself. However, the guy behind the counter wasn't very clear in explaining the situation. The original deal was that I made a reservation for a covetable through hertz -- got an emailed confirmation and rate. When I showed up they claimed there was a "glitch" and that there was no convertible -- and the rate wasn't valid anyways, however, if I'd like, I could wait one or two hours for them to maybe find me a car. read more

Love this place! My fiancé and I wanted to rent a classic American car for our engagement photo shoot, and Israel and his team made it happen! Their prices could NOT be best by any other rental co, and the '64 Oldsmobile Dynamic 88 convertible was the perfect ride for us!
