I was given some respite information and literature, and the price was laid out clearly along with minimum stay, provided in writing so that any financial disputes should be easily settled. The Director's followup was supportive of my unique needs and staff was very kind. I am very glad I reached out to Caring.com to find this hidden gem in a good location. The only piece missing for me was a swimming pool. Definitely worth a look. Note that many of the negative reviews here are quite old and should probably be dropped to be fair, as the Director's name has changed from those mentioned and the descriptions are not aligned with the upgrades I saw.

She is kind, compassionate, accommodating, and genuinely cares about both the residents and their families. During every interaction, she made us feel heard, supported, and valued. Her leadership is reflected in the culture of the entire community. What stood out most to me was the staff in Memory Care. Every single person went above and beyond for my grandma. They were attentive, patient, loving, and treated her with dignity and respect. It never felt like they were simply doing a job--it felt like they truly cared about her as a person. As a family member who spent a great deal of time at the facility, I had the opportunity to get to know many of the caregivers, staff members, residents, and families. The warmth and genuine kindness I witnessed every day was something special. My grandma loved living there. There were always thoughtful activities to bring joy to the residents, from fun events like Mocktail Mondays to musical guests and entertainment throughout the week. The staff work hard to create meaningful moments and a sense of community for everyone who lives there. As my grandma's health declined, the care and compassion shown to her never wavered. The facility is frequently cleaned and they provide lots of activities. The staff is kind and the Executive Director is amazing. She really tries to meet family needs with empathy. The food is better than you would expect and I have lunch here regularly with my mother in law. The central courtyard and outside gardens are well kept and peaceful. My wife has made friends with others dealing with their parents in memory care and it has truly been a community.

Not exactly evidence of a safe place. As an RN, and daughter it's hard to see a parent go through this let alone the stress on her and me thru this situation. There are nice seating areas outdoors and in. In the main lobby is a WII, which was being used as we toured. I was impressed with the number of residents that were out an about and friendly and engaging. Other senior apartments did not seem to have as many happy residents. Only two meals are served each day, lunch and dinner, with a limited selection of choices, but apartments include a full (albeit small) kitchen. Apartments have a nice patio or balcony. There is only one elevator for the entire facility, which seems like a potential hazard if the residents on the second and third floors have mobility problems and need to be evacuated in an emergency. Hallways are covered with smooth industrial (though tastefully patterned) carpet. Apartments however, are carpeted in a deep plush. This makes it difficult for residents using walkers to maneuver in their own apartments. Winding Commons is owned by the same company as Campus Commons Senior Apartments. Winding Commons is the better of the two.
