After that, any communication, which will be impossible to get in a timely manner, will be with a medical assistant. I waited 2 months where I messaged them multiple times with no reply. I also went into the office twice to ask why my messages were not being responded to. They suggested I get a call from the physicians assistant to answer the questions. Of course they didn't mention they would charge this as a specialist appointment, which my copay is $85. I submitted a complaint and got back a generic 'we coded it right, pay up now' response. I have had billing issues in general with Sutter but I am absolutely done with the after this. Next step is contacting insurance because they're up coding appointments like crazy here.

They will charge you exorbitant, ridiculous prices for absolutely no service or medical intervention. Then they will have no communication, no paper bills or emails, and then send you to debt collections after 4 months. When you try to call, you will get an AI. If you're able to get it to let you talk to a real person, that person might just transfer you back to the AI. They offer no reasoning, help, or negations because they do not care about you or your health, they just want your money. Stay away from Sutter Health.

Stanford Health Care - Wow. Coffee in the waiting area.

Dr. Ruhle and Dr. Miller are not only outstanding surgeons, but they also genuinely care for their patients in a way that goes far beyond medicine. I consider them not just my doctors, but part of my extended family. After my major surgery on 04/25/25, them made me feel safe, heard, and cared for like family. They were both incredibly proactive throughout my recovery following an almost 8-hour procedure, and that meant everything to me. It truly made my day when Nick Wiseman checked in the very next day after surgery to see how I was doing. The three of them will always hold a special place in my heart. Thank you for your compassion, dedication, and the exceptional care you provide. One day I hope to make it to Emeryville to see you all again ~~~ and finally get a photo of us together. Forever grateful and thankful.

Stanford Health Care - There's never any parking. Only offers 20 minute or 40 minute visits that aren't enough.

They prescribed OTC remedies that did nothing. My daughter had a chronic cough and sickness for a month. We made another appointment two weeks later with her primary care doctor for an urgent sick visit since she was not healing from this ongoing cold and chronic coughing-vomiting. Castro Valley Dr. gave her antibiotics and she was better in two days. The lack of compassion for the patient and families needs is very costly with our experience with Berkeley Urgent Care. Listening to the patient is key to a successful relationship for good health and it doesn't seem to be happening in Berkeley. Another incident at Berkeley Urgent Care happened when I went in with what I thought was shingles and they sent me to the ER for an abdominal exam. The minute I arrived at the ER and went through triage, they spotted the small rash and said it was shingles instantly. Berkeley Urgent Care blew me off and sent me to the ER and cost me $6k. My Family has learned a very expensive lesson with Berkeley Urgent Care.

I don't trust them otherwise! A nurse practitioner (Stephen?) did a "heat test" meaning he used his hands to feel for a heat differential on my low back tissue pain before deeming me releasable from my any further treatment despite my chronic & ongoing pain. OK -- WHAT KIND OF VOODOO CRAP IS THIS. I'm still experiencing pain. Unacceptable and deceptive. One of the receptionist has attitude that needs to be checked. She is hungry for power and will make you weight. The other one (Kristina) is very pleasant and actually does her job. So it goes. I've gotten "Physical Therapy" (PT) here. While the PT was very pleasant, my PT was less active and more passive. It was 30 minutes maximum of getting my injury gently massaged and gossip. This delayed strengthening vital muscles that could actually help in recovery, which is what I did when I switched to another PT provider at a different organization entirely and experienced less pain. I've seen enough here and am very disappointed. If you want adequate and ongoing care, run away from here go elsewhere!!!

Finally got real answers and personal attention/care for my complex chronic illness. CCFM is…read moreseriously worth it if you have the means. I spent years bouncing between specialist referrals, getting normal lab work back, and being told "everything looks fine" while feeling miserable. Being so frustrated, I found myself at the California Center for Functional Medicine (CCFM). I came to CCFM struggling with severe chronic fatigue, dysautonomia/POTS symptoms, and unresolved gut issues that standard GI doctors completely missed. From my first meeting with Dr. Schweig, the level of medical rigor here was completely different. Before my initial consultation, my care team reviewed a detailed timeline of my health history and previous lab work...omg! they actually came into the visit prepared. Their diagnostic approach is incredible. Instead of just prescribing a Band-Aid medication, Dr. Schweig ordered advanced specialty labs (like comprehensive stool testing and organic acids tests) to map out the root causes. During our 60-minute Case Review, he explained the data visually and built a truly personalized protocol combining targeted diet changes, antimicrobial herbs, and useful lifestyle adjustments. What you need to know about the model/cost: CCFM operates as a direct cash-pay/concierge practice (around $2,500 for the onboarding phase, plus a monthly membership). You get what you pay for. Having unlimited access to my health coach and nutritionist between doctor visits kept me accountable and made the treatment plan actually doable. Within six months on their protocol, my brain fog cleared up, my digestion normalized, and I got my energy back. CCFM gave me my life back when the conventional system gave up. I highly recommend Dr. Schweig and the whole CCFM team.

However, the level of diagnosis, treatment planning, and modern approach is genuinely worth the investment. Health is an integral part of life, and I have regrets about not having had specific information years ago--things I would have handled differently. That comprehensive, forward-looking guidance is exactly what CCFM provides. My health provider here, Tracey, is knowledgeable, smart, and everything she does exceeds my expectation. Additionally, Anita Hackman, the Client Liaison, is an essential part of the process. She is the one you communicate with regarding issues like pharmacy delays or appointment changes, and I find her to be excellent--she perfectly balances professionalism with understanding. Please do your body a favor and give CCFM a try. You will genuinely appreciate the results.
