I switched from CVS last year to REGENTS in La Mesa and I am so glad I did. It is family run and everyone is so kind and knowledgeable. The pharmacy is clean and well organized. I am just recovering from almost 4 weeks of a horrible Bronchitis attack and made use of their free delivery of the medicines I needed. It was GREAT!! I love them. Now my problem is that I'm losing my Advantage 65+ insurance with Scripps Clinic. It has been a fabulous healthcare plan, but it is out of reach for me now with exorbitant premiums. There is an appealing plan with Sharp in La Mesa, but they require I use Walgreens (which I will never do). I want to stick with REGENTS. I hope I can work something out so I can keep them for my prescriptions starting 2024. read more

Two things to start with, I've been a loyal customer at another pharmacy for over twelve years. I'm on a strong pain medication that usually needs to be special ordered. That being said, with my old pharmacy, I would call several days in advance to let them know that I would be coming in for my monthly prescription and if they didn't have it in stock they would order it so that when it was time to pick it up, I wouldn't have an issues. That worked fine until about four months ago when the cooperate office decided that it would be much better for a computer to handle 100% of the ordering, based on what prescriptions were in the queue to be filled. The local pharmacy is NOT allowed to call and make a special request. Well, everything worked fine for two months. Then I went to pick up my medication and was told, "Sorry, we don't have it in stock, and since it's Friday, the order won't be placed until Monday and it will arrive on Tuesday or Wednesday." I NEED to take this medication everyday and if I don't not only will I be in pain, but I will also get sick (withdrawal). Since this medication is "controlled" it can't be transferred to another pharmacy like all other prescriptions. So... I started looking for another pharmacy. I found Regents when my son was getting his COVID booster. I talked to the manager, Stephanie and explained my issue. She was great. She told me that she does the ordering and that after the doctor sends the electronic prescription, she will check the stock and if necessary, she will order the medication to ensure that when I stop by to pick it up, it will be ready. Today was the first time using the pharmacy, and to my relief, it went off without any issues. Regents isn't a GIANT chain, it's a pharmacy that can offer customer service by a human not a computer. I was super nervous about switching pharmacies, but Stephanie did a great job keeping me calm. Once she received the electronic prescription, she called me to let me know that it had arrived. She called me again to let me know that they had received the delivery of the medication, and the day before my scheduled pick up, she called to let me know that everything was on track to have the prescription ready for me by 11:00am on the day of pickup. It was refreshing to work with someone that actually cared. So, if you are tired of dealing with a big pharmacy that doesn't care anything about you or medication availability, you need to try Regents Pharmacy. I give my full recommendation to Regents and their staff. One more thing, like the big pharmacies, they also have a smart phone application where you can check the status of your medications, but you can also text them and they RESPOND. I can't say enough about their great customer service and their great staff. Life is too short to worry if you are going to get your medications on time. I feel that since switching to Regents, that I have one less thing to worry about. I hope that everyone has a great New Year's. read more

John Han, owner of Regents Pharmacy in La Jolla and in San Diego, is also the pharmacist. John is wonderful. In February, I read on Nextdoor that this La Jolla-based pharmacy had just opened in our neighborhood. Also I was thrilled to read that they had free home delivery (and they also take all insurance plans including MediCal and MediCare.) I made a note of Regents' address and stopped in to check it out. I introduced myself, and then John and I sat and visited for a while. I was convinced I'd found the right pharmacy, and I had John transfer all my prescriptions to his store. John has made my life so much easier. First, he asked me if I would like him to sync all my prescriptions so that they are filled on the same day each month/every 90 days. OMG! This was something I was trying to get my previous pharmacy to do for 5 years -- Wow. He also offered to put my scripts into multi-dose packaging so it's easier to know which meds to take and when. I love Regents' FREE delivery, and I've really loved using their RX app too. John even cared enough to call and ask how I was doing with my severe chest congestion. When I barked in his ear like a seal, he suggested I might need an inhaler. I messaged my doctor about this and my doc agreed. And John's staff delivered that inhaler to me that afternoon. Since that time, John Han has been an integral member of what I like to call Team Margie. He's been a true friend and an incredible ally. Very disappointing experience. I called ahead of my appointment to assure that I would be able to receive the Novavax vaccine, and yet when I arrived the pharmacist refused to give me the vaccine, claiming that the CDC would not permit me to have the Novavax vaccine. This analysis was wrong but the pharmacist refused to budge. I wasted a lot of time trying to get this vaccine, and it's just very frustrating that the pharmacist inserted herself as an obstacle, particularly since I confirmed the facts the day before. I was researching and found this pharmacy, so I filled out the application online and it was super easy and convenient. Back in March I needed to find a way to get my 90 year old father's medical prescriptions delivered to him so he could safely shelter in place due to the Covid quarantine. I looked at a popular online service but there was a back log of several weeks, which was not workable for us. I found Regents Pharmacy and John...I really don't remember how. I went in to get a few things and asked about delivery service. Not only was John able to provide my father with delivery service, starting the very next day, all the meds are in easy pill packs so my there are no more pill boxes to fill! My dad loves it and is so happy. Additionally, my father can contact the pharmacy if he needs any over the counter items delivered as well.
