Went to Reggie's for lunch. I asked the employee for recommendations on what to eat. I was told to get Reggie's Hot Chicken sandwich and the chicken wrap. I also order the kids meal chicken tenders for my son. The food was pricy for what it was, but it was pretty tasty. I really liked the chicken wrap. The spicy sauce was pretty good. The kids meal came with an apple and I overheard a mother ask for them to cut up the apple for their child. This gave me the idea to ask for them to do the same thing. They were very kind and helpful in honoring this request. I would recommend coming here for lunch if you didn't bring your own food. read more

DID YOU KNOW YOU CAN FIND AMAZING GREEK FOOD @ THE L.A ZOO? I didn't, until now! Reggie's Bistro has to be one of the best places I've ate at in a recreational place (zoo, theme park, etc.). I got a falafel bowl and OPA was it delicious! It came with Quinoa, arugula salad, Hummus, Tzatziki, Artichoke, Roasted tomato, Cucumber, and Harissa oil! Not only was the salad tossed and mixed when it arrived to my table, but everything came out fresh! The dressing and veggies were phenomenal. Vegans and veggie addicts, you'll like this place! All the food items here are made to order! The falafel was perfectly crispy, I have zero complaints. I topped my lunch off with a large chocolate chip cookie and I was in heaven. Reggie's is pricey but definitely worth the visit, dang this gator can cook! I also saw some delicious burgers, sandwiches and wraps on the menu. I wish I lived closer so I can visit everyday! The staff was pretty good, they took our orders quickly and were friendly enough. Drinks are self-served at the drinking fountain and you pick up your food when your handheld buzzer goes off. My party and I didn't experience a long line or any craziness! Reggie's outdoor seating has shade covering all tables. The place is great for smaller groups and it's quiet. I expected for them to have the falafel salad/sandwich based on the photos posted up online, but those must be outdated because they didn't have it on the menu when I went. Regretfully, I forgot to take a picture of the current menu to post. Anyway, since they didn't have the falafel I ordered a gyro wrap which came with a side of waffle fries. The order took a bit of a time to come out even though it seemed that there was only a couple of customers ahead of us, about 10-15 minutes of wait. I was quite pleased with the food tho, inside of a pita bread was the gyro meat, arugula, cucumber, and tzatziki sauce. The pita was soft and chewy, portioning was fine although it needed a lot more of the tzatziki sauce, but I was so hungry by the time I got to eat so everything was satisfying nonetheless, esp the fries they were pretty tasty. Solid four stars considering this is the LA Zoo so expectations were set accordingly. I like that this place makes your food to order and there is a pretty good selection if things to choose from. I'm not sure how often they change their menu as some of the photos on Yelp are not options anymore. It took about 15-20 min for our food to be ready so might not be the best option if you have hungry kiddos. My fiancé enjoyed his Reggie Burger but wished he had gotten my Reggie's hot chicken sandwich (which was basically two chicken tenders with some spicy seasoning on it, but not Nashville hot). I liked the ingredients in my seasonal side salad but wished I got his fries because they were satisfying (the kind that are slightly crisp). Glad there is this place at the zoo! read more

Stopped by to grab a bite at Reggie's Bistro on our way out of the zoo. We got a classic burger and a chicken BLT salad. The cheeseburger was pretty much your average cheeseburger, fries were pretty fresh and crunchy. Salad was also just mediocre and they also forgot my chicken as you can tell from the picture. I had to go back and tell them and they just made me a new salad which is fine, no big deal. Overall, Reggie's bistro was pretty good, it seems to be the better option compared to the other restaurants here at the Zoo. read more

November 4. 2021 I am impressed! My sister and i both ordered the falafel burger. She opted for fries and i had a side salad. The falafel was crisp and flavorful. It could have had more yogurt dip, so definitely ask for extra. Fries were basic so I'm glad i got the salad. The Caesar dressing was AMAZING! OMG.. I'm going to go back just for that! The staff was super friendly! The cashier, i think his name was DaShawn, was so nice! Polite and friendly. What an asset. When not taking orders he was emptying trash cans and cleaning... all with a smile! Food came out pretty fast. There's a good amount of tables and chairs. Hand sanitizer beat front entrance, Although I would like to see sanitizer at cash register. Tables were clean. Restrooms were just next door. The chicken sandwich is good but the chicken tenders are bad, doesn't make any sense. Service was fine and the seating is outdoors and in the heat we had to eat at the zoo grill up the hill. After my recent review of Crossroads West Cafe, just across the street from the zoo's parking lot, and stressing how it was a "must" for our zoo buddy get togethers. After walking the zoo grounds for several hours, we were content with Reggie's Bistro right in the zoo's front plaza area. And my buddy was treating; making that a belated retirement lunch #5! But as I stated before, I should have ordered a burger. Instead, I went with the Beef Short Ribs and Mac & Cheese. A shredded beef dish mixed with pasta that wasn't a very good simulation of Mac & Cheese. Oh it was filling, so much so that I didn't even want to think about dinner hours later. I wouldn't order it again. And all I could think about the entire meal was "I should have ordered a burger" as my buddy contentedly chowed down on his. But the outdoor patio is nice for people watching and viewing this cafe's namesake, Reggie the Alligator, the world famous elusive alligator that roamed Harbor City's Machado Lake from 2005-2007. We grabbed lunch here. I think the mark up isn't that outrageous. It was more reasonable than Universal Studios. Basically you order at the counter and they bring your food to you. They also bus the tables. I like the build your own sandwich option. You pick a protein and how you want it made (sandwich? Wrap? Panini? Etc). All sandwiches come with your choice of salad, fries or kettle chips. Kettle chips are crispy. So were the fries. The sandwich was enough for lunch. Easily the best restaurant at the LA Zoo. All orders are made to order so it's always fresh. It's also the least busiest one at the Zoo due to being at the entrance so many guests walk past it. Every time I've gone to the LA Zoo, I always buy from this restaurant on my way out(Especially now during the time of Covid). The food options are great: It's a variety of burgers, chicken sandwiches, wraps, and salads(Current menu during COVID) and I tried all and all are great(Waited 7 weeks to review it so I can try the entire menu). As of this writing, it's all take out so there's no outdoor dining nearby(Either go deep into the zoo with no one around or eat it at your car or home). I come here for the cous cous shrimp salad and to people watch. This is the only decent restaurant at the Zoo. Since I work across the street, I see the Zoo staff at the museum cafe often and I can see why. While members get a discount here, it is a bit pricy for the average family. Plus, there are no lids or straws for the safety of the animals. It's a great place to sit and relax in their outdoor patio. However the food will not disappoint. I've gone with several people and they have all been happy with their hamburgers and fries. They also serve Starbucks coffee but don't open until well after 10am so I can't run across early in the morning for my coffee fix. They also use biodegradable to-go boxes and cups. It's a good place if you want something good, natural, healthy, and tasty but not if you are on a budget. read more

I stop at Reggie's across from Reggie the alligator and waterfall as soon as you come into the park. They have great daily specials. Reggie's Bistro is at the LA Zoo, right across from Reggie the Alligator. This is probably for fellow Zoo Members, but I thought that Reggie's deserves it's own listing. If you're not a Zoo Member, go do it now. This is the best value in LA, and a great place for a walk on the weekend. Reggie's recently re-opened after a major upgrade. I used to drop in there for coffee in the morning, then they were closed for months. What came out was way better. We tried a blue cheese burger and a side of Thai coleslaw. The burger was huge and quite good. The coleslaw was amazing. Next time out we'll be trying the Salmon and a few more of the sides. Prices are a bit high, but for us it's just another donation to the Zoo. Plus, we feel like we should reward them for doing this right. Having something more available at the Zoo beyond popcorn and churros is worth supporting. read more

We ate here for the first time today. I have food allergies and this place is allergen friendly in that they post all of the top 10 allergens present in their food and what they are present in so that you can modify. I ordered a Reggie burger lettuce wrapped with no mayonnaise. They brought it out after about 15 minutes and it had mayonnaise on it. I am allergic to eggs so I couldn't eat it and had them remake it. It came back out within two minutes which is when I should have known they didn't do a recook, but I was starving. Because there was still mayonnaise hidden on the burger/cheese, I am now in so much pain. I don't recommend going here if you have food allergies regardless of how allergen friendly they appear. read more

Family fun day at the Zoo. Reggies has some great food. Pulled pork bahn mi was surprisingly good. Served on a French roll. Turkey sandwich was yummy, filled with avocado and sprouts. Sweet potatoe fries were good too. Kids Mac n cheese was a bit messy. Too much cheese, but the taste was good. Their potatoe chips were very thick. They also serve Starbucks ice coffee and beer. I'm glad Yelp was able to help me decide on food options at the LA Zoo! I saw all the other options throughout the day, and this was by far the best food joint in the place. I ordered the kids meal with chicken strips and sweet potato fries. It was the perfect portion, and for only $2-3 more dollars than ice cream or popcorn. I was tempted to get ice cream for dessert at another stand, but it was ~$6 for a cone! I could get a few gallons at home for that price! GAH! read more

ME: My black bean burger and fries were also incredible!!! I didn't know burger like this had that potential-Yay! Reggie's... why have you never heard of this place... I bet you just haven't been to the LA Zoo since you were 5 or had a kid who was 5. But it's a fairly recent addition I think within the last few years. But WOW they have an OUTSTANDING burger here. I am a huge fan of a great burger and ordered one here the first time expecting some barely palatable hunk of fatty tissue with a cheap bun and unmelted kraft singles. You know standard stadium/park faire that sucks and is 3 times the cost. You know like the ARCO AM/PM burgers but being sold for like $10-$15. So when that was my forethought, imagine how blown away I was when I had an outstanding burger experience! Literally it was one of the best burgers I can remember having in recent times. And it is at the first grub spot in the LA Zoo. Granted its not a slophouse counter like the other spots and is a sit down grub zone like any of the current predominant burger chains like Smashburger, Umami Burger, Fat Burger, etc... However the burger was better than all of those places! It truly was uber delicious and filling. A soft delicious bun. Properly cooked fresh and delicious meat. Absolutely outstanding and if you go to the Zoo, I HIGHLY suggest that this is what you eat. However, they have other grub and drinks here as well. Unfortunately its pricy, but it's the Zoo what did you expect? They sell beer and wine at this restaurant if you are interested which definitely helps with the palate and the Zoo in general IMHO. None the less outside of the burger I am not overly impressed with the grub at Reggies. My daughter gets their Mac n Cheese which I always wish was al dente and instead it is al mushy. =\ The fries are not that good and seem to usually be wilting. I am not sure if that is due to the heat (temperature) or due to improper fryer technique. However they do have sweet potato fries if your into that kind of thing. Then they also have chicken strips which are nothing special and totally typical and not all that appealing or fulfilling. Basically it's a 5 star burger, good quality beer, and 2-3 star sides and other grub options. The service isn't that great either. Perhaps it's the servers, the environment, or something altogether different. But the staff isn't smiling, don't talk much, and kinda just plop the grub down on the table for you to figure out who ordered which dish. Despite the fact that the workers forgot to place our orders and realized so after 20 minutes, I still have to give this bistro 4 stars. The food here is extremely good and affordable for zoo prices. The sweet potato fries are on par as are their pickles and sandwiches. They serve Starbucks coffee (iced and hot) in addition to other refreshments and you can get refills for a $1 even if you come back later on in the day. It's funny how you run into the first place you see to get a drink and decide to go elsewhere for food thinking all the places have the same type of food. Call it an amusement park mentality. Well who knew that this place had the best menu out of the whole park! Although we didn't get to taste the offerings, just the menu alone is so much better than the other joints in the zoo. How unfortunate that we ended up at Zoo Grill because that place sucked. (Seriously, how do you offer a Tortilla Wrap-type Sandwich and not have any type of salsa or hot sauce whatsoever. That's sacrilegious) The menu at Reggie's is simple but thorough. The first thing to catch my eye was the multiple taps of brews behind the counter. After walking around the park and expecting taps and only seeing bottles of bud, well, I really got to appreciate what we missed. Wine, Starbucks Coffee, and freshly grilled burgers are some more of the offerings here. (As well as Tapatio and Tabasco :p) Since we are members now, we will definitely be coming here next time. I rarely eat anything when I go to amusement parks, but upon entering the zoo today I had not yet had lunch and was pretty thirsty because of how hot it was. Once my friend and I got into the park, we saw Reggie's and decided to check it out. We didn't order too much, just a side of fries and two fountain drinks. With my zoo membership discount (10%) I think it came out to $10.00 which isn't TOO bad for amusement park food - and the fries were very satisfying. The MAIN reason this place is getting three stars is because of a reason I can't believe no one has discussed so far. There are a TON of bees EVERYWHERE around this restaurants outdoor seating, but mainly swarming all around the soda fountains because they're attracted to the sugar. Half of this building is open-air, but they literally do nothing about how many bees there are. One bee fell into my drink and when I asked someone for a new cup she washed it out with water and tried to give me the same cup again. I politely asked for a new cup once more and was finally given a new one. I still had to battle like 6 bees whilst I tried to get my root beer and was followed all the way to the table and pestered by these bees until we finally decided to get up and leave. I don't know what sort of thing has to happen for them to prevent bees from being all over their guests, but this is just not something I'm okay with while dining at a restaurant. read more

The meat was clearly good quality.. everything was just cooked to perfection.. i just had the regular fries and they were also really good.. i heard the kettle chips were good, I'll have to try those next time! Honestly their food was not $80 worth for 4 burgers, fries and one drink., yes the meat is amazingly large but lacks tons of flavor, I literally had to add a lot of salt in order to have some taste in my burger.. I just wrote a review on the LA Zoo yelp page about Reggie's, so I'll keep this short. As far as zoo/amusement park food goes, Reggie's deserves those 5 stars (As good as it gets!). You can't really get much better when you're in a zoo. I had the turkey sandwich with sweet potato fries and it was great. Although the French Dip also looked delicious. To my amazement I was very satisfied w my meal. I got the beef short rib sandwich for like $14 which was a great size sandwich w choice of side. All the flavored where in place just missing a lil salt. Customer service was great as well as our server. They both where friendly and striving for excellent customer service. Unfortunately another customer had some issue requiring the supervisor... The supervisor was annoyed n giving the cashier a hard time. They kept exchanging words; cashier asking supervisor for help as he just stud there obviously refusing to help. When you eat at a zoo your culinary expectations are not particularly high....I can honestly say after eating here about 4 times so far that the food is excellent and the prices reasonable. It is like walking into a twilight zone since they are located in the zoo....and could take advantage of the customers by charging high prices and serving sub-par dishes....but I will never eat anywhere else on my visits from here on in! My favorite is the Reggie Burger - which is a very healthy serving size cooked spot on and a side of sweet potato fries. My 2-year old son devours the chicken tenders and the mini-hot dogs too. Very disappointed to see they changed the menu here. We used to come here every time we visited the zoo (we are members). The food was delicious. We always got the french dip sandwich and turkey sandwich. They no longer carry either item. I guess we will now have to eat before coming to the zoo as this was the only acceptable option for food. My fourth trip to the zoo meant my first trip to Reggie's Bistro, the eatery in the International Marketplace near the front entrance. Because it is near the front entrance, which is some distance from most of the exhibits, the café is not as crowded as others. Also, having seen the food churning out of the other kitchens, Reggie's seemed to deliver the most palatable food. That probably is the case, but I should have stuck with my previous game plan of leaving the zoo at noon in search of better food at better prices. This is 2 star dining in the normal world, but it merits 3 stars (A-okay) in the world of amusement park junk. First, we had Reggie's Burger ($10.95), which was a "half pound angus burger with blue cheese and onion relish." I sincerely doubt that there was half a pound of meat on this sandwich - even when it was raw. It is "cooked to order," but our "rare" was delivered "medium well." The meat itself is good quality, even if it was scant and overcooked. It does not fill the bun, but it is a tasty brioche bun with 1 teaspoon of blue cheese smeared on the bread and 1 teaspoon of onion relish as well as lettuce and tomato. Essentially, it was an overcooked, boring burger. But, it was A LOT better than McDonald's. It would be a LOT better with a thinner patty (same amount of meat, but shaped into a larger circle to cover more bun area) that is not overcooked with a decent amount of cheese and onion relish. Second, I ordered a Portabello Mushroom Sandwich ($10.95), which was a whole wheat bun with a shmear of honey mustard dressing, a tablespoon of spouts, two slices of cucumber, lettuce, tomato and a VERY small portabello mushroom cap (about 2.5" in diameter and 1/2" thick). I substituted blue cheese for Havarti, and we got 1 teaspoon on this sandwich as well. It would be very good if they used a decent sized mushroom, a decent amount of cheese and few more spouts. Finally, DM ordered the BBQ chicken breast sandwich ($9.95), which is about 5" of thick French roll with maybe 4 oz. of chicken breast topped with a piece of Canadian bacon and a piece of Swiss cheese and 1 teaspoon of BBQ sauce. Same amount of bread with 6 oz of chicken, some lettuce and tomato, and more sauce would make this a MUCH better sandwich. You select a side to go with your sandwich - kettle chips, French fries, sweet potato fries, Thai coleslaw or hand tossed salad (which is chopped romaine with a few croutons). We had two sweet potato fries and a Thai coleslaw. The coleslaw is shredded cabbage tossed in a tangy vinaigrette and served atop lettuce leaves. It is pretty one dimensional - because it has been sitting in the dressing for a while, there is no crunch left. Plus, there is too much dressing. The sweet potato fries were fine - they were hot and crispy but lacked seasoning (obviously went from freezer bag to fryer to your plate). With one soda and the Zoo member discount (10%), our total was just over $34. We ate everything - definitely edible - but it was sloppy, expensive, and missing its potential. I will stick with eating outside of the zoo. FYI: There are only two tables "inside." Like all of the other eateries in the park, you are eating outside. read more
